Happy Father's Day. An appropriate episode for today since it was filled with father/son fluff.
Guest 1: Yeah, I occasionally try to add parental fluff in. Glad you like it.
Guest2: I debated whether to make a conversation in the flashback or to make a conversation after the party. After some back and forth I decided that there might be more to talk about after the party. Hope you like it.
Guest3: You know I never thought about it till you mentioned it. My answer is IDK. There's so many plot holes that sometimes I think I need an excavator to fill them in. But I would like to think that Rex stopped the plague before it hit every part of the world or that van Kleiss had enough warning so that he was able to quarantine himself. What do you think?
Guest 4: Muchos Gracias.
Spektor: I don't think Six actually acknowledges that he likes Holiday until after A Family Holiday (when he asks her out on a date…squeal…). So no real dates until then. Right now they will merely dance around the subject and Six will justify hanging out with Holiday for… professional reasons.
MoonGirl1155: Good to hear from you.
"Promises, Promises"
Don't own.
"There you are. Hiding from the crowd?"
"I'm not hiding… just staying out of the way."
"Same difference. I know you hate parties, Six. But this is for Rex. Sorry to inconvenience you."
"I wasn't inconvenienced... Ahem, you were right about Rex making a difference."
"Of course, haven't you learned that I'm always right?"
"Hmph, I don't know about that."
"Oh lighten up Six, I was joking. The party lasted a little longer than I thought but Rex really had a good time."
"I can see by the mess he made when he tried to ride the rhinocesarous."
"When we told him he couldn't pin the tale on it, I guess he took it to mean that he should ride it rodeo style. At least the damage was contained in the Petting Zoo. I'll make him clean it up tomorrow."
"You should make him do it today."
"Well, it's his day today."
"That's no excuse for being reckless."
"That's true but he'll still learn his lesson when he has to replant all the trees and plants he uprooted… especially Blinky."
"Hmm, Blinky won't be happy."
"Nope, he won't."
"Speaking of not being happy, how did you get White Knight to agree to this?"
"Oh, I gave him a speech about keeping up people's morale, etcetera, etcetera."
"Somehow I think it was more than that."
"Well, I have my own secrets, Six."
"Fair enough… I see the custodians coming to clean up the mess in your lab."
"Yeah, Rex did do quite a number here too. It's a good thing I hid all the expensive equipment."
"That was wise."
"I didn't think two teenagers and a chimpanzee can cause so much damage."
"Well, I could have told you that."
"Still it gave Rex a chance to be a real kid… albeit a destructive one… I remember when I first met him… He asked to see my doctor's license."
…
"Six? You okay?"
"I remember that day too… I never did thank you for helping me hide him and getting him to bed. I… wasn't use to children."
"Oh and I was? No Six, I should thank you. Up till then I didn't think anyone was listening to my idea of a cure."
"Things… would have been different if we were able to leave with him."
"I know… Sorry about that."
"It's not your fault. White Knight can be… persuasive."
"It wasn't even that. He basically tricked me into revealing Rex to him. He told me he was in on it… and like an idiot I believed him."
"Like I said he can be persuasive… and devious."
"Tell me about it. Then he threw me in a cage with Bobo. Luckily, Bobo was equally as devious."
"And here we are…"
"Yeah, here we are…"
"How does the rest of your day look?"
"Well, after the custodial crew has cleaned up I have to drag all the equipment back out. Then I need to give Rex his flu shot…"
"I thought that was just a ruse…"
"He still needs his flu shot… I also need to give him his present."
"I thought the party was his present."
"It was but what's a birthday without presents."
"I guess."
"Did you get him anything?"
…
"Well, I can tell him this is from both of us."
"No, that won't be necessary."
"So you did get him a present! I knew it. You gave it to him when he disappeared to get the camera didn't you?"
"Spying on me?"
"No! Not spying. Just observant. I was worried you were… bored. You weren't exactly enthusiastic when I proposed the idea."
"Not at first… but it has been… valuable."
"Thanks… I think."
"I guess I should check to make sure he hasn't decided to jump over Mel… again."
"What did you get him?"
"Excuse me?"
"If you don't mind me asking, what did you get him?"
"It's something personal."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry."
"No, I meant I gave him something personal."
"I see. Well, whatever it was I'm sure he loved it."
"You already saw it."
"You mean that knife he was using to cut the cake?"
"It's a tanto blade. And it was more like stabbing it."
"I know, I know. The cake I made was a flop. I told you I couldn't cook. I'm glad Calan had time to get another cake."
"I'm sure it's the thought that counts."
"Please Six, that's something you say when you don't want to hurt someone's feelings."
"True. But in this case, I think Rex was touched by the gesture… especially when a piece hit him in the head."
"Ha ha very funny Six. Better be careful. If my cake can beat your tanto, I wouldn't be so quick to joke about my cooking."
"Point taken."
"Looks like they're done cleaning. I guess it's time to haul out the equipment."
"And I still need to check on Rex."
"Do me a favor? When you find him send him this way."
"I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to convince him to come. See you later."
"See you Six."
