There have been some new postings recently of Gen Rex stories (not talking about me). Take a look at the summary and give it a try if you are so inclined. Leave a review to thank them for writing and to encourage them to write more. Keep this fandom ALIVE!
X: Thank you for your reviews. I hope you're right about season 2.
Guest: Yeah, I liked the ending too. I like seeing Six in awkward situations.
MoonGirl 1155: Hope you are having a good summer.
KakaAnko: I think the name they gave the lady was "persistent grandmother". (Hope you had a good birthday!)
I don't own.
"Waste Land"
"Where's the souvenir Rex got you?"
"Oh it's in a giant holding tank in my lab."
"Learn anything interesting?"
"There's all sorts of fascinating things. Did you know the creature has adapted to live in polluted waters? It actually did better when I threw my Styrofoam coffee cup in the tank with it."
"Really?"
"It must have been amazing down there with all that special flora and fauna. I wish I could have seen it…. But next time when I say souvenir I mean something less… squirmy."
…
"You're going to have to return the little guy back."
"Not me… Rex."
"Well, one of you will. It needs to be returned to its natural habitat."
"What about the Petting Zoo?"
"This is a salt water creature that thrives in tainted waters. Our environment is entirely fresh and pure. It wouldn't last long in there."
"What about Rex's room?"
"Well although it would probably do okay… especially if you left it in his bathtub… do you really want three EVOs living out of that room?"
"Good point.… I will have to talk to Rex about returning the… thing discreetly. It will have to be an... unsanctioned operation."
"Hmm, I'm guessing that more happened than what was in your report?"
"Let's just say that we have a promise to keep."
"Ah, being secretive again, your forte."
"Not by choice this time."
"I guess that's what I get for not going on the field with you two."
"Do you want to?"
"Not especially. But you two certainly have had your share of interesting… adventures."
"With Rex, it's more like misadventures."
"Oh come now, Six. You're always complaining about him. As far as I can see, he's always successful."
"May I remind you… the unstable nanites going off, Van Kleiss trashing our base, Van Kleiss escaping after trashing our base, Van Kleiss stealing the power core…"
"Those weren't Rex's fault… well, maybe the unstable nanites…"
"If Rex was a little less cocky and more focused..."
"Things will still go wrong. Six, he's trying his best. His bravado is just a mask. He's still a kid at heart. You ever watch him play with his action figures when he thinks we're not looking?"
"Yes, I caught him this morning."
"It's cute isn't it? He's got quite an imagination."
"If he put as much effort into his training as he does narrating his life story, he would be a better agent."
"Maybe… or maybe he's just a kid without any creative outlets."
"He blasted a hole in the training room in the shape of an elephant. I think he has enough creative outlets."
"See, that's just it. He needs something better than destroying things to express himself."
"He has a journal."
"That's for recording his memories…"
"He can express himself in that."
"Look Six, we've had this discussion before. We need to help Rex become a whole person."
"I make sure that he's whole every day."
"No, not just having all his limbs which I'm sure he's appreciative of, but holistically."
"Throwing around fifty-cent words again, Holiday?"
"Very funny, Six. I know you know what I mean."
"Fine, I'll go buy Rex more dolls to play with."
"Action figures, Six."
"If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it is a duck."
"Whatever Six, just be nice."
"I am nice."
"Of course you are, especially when you scowl like that…. Where are you going?"
"Showing how nice I am…. I'm going to get Rex that doll he wanted from Summo Slammers."
"You're going to the toy store?"
"No, on-line. I wouldn't be caught dead in one."
"Really, what if you got married and had kids one day?"
"… That's not something I had ever thought about."
"Never thought about getting married or having kids."
"… I…, uh…, I… there's an emergency I have to go take care of… see you…"
"…That's one way to drive him off, girl. Way to go. One day, Six, one day."
Sorry, that was a little sad but I tried to leave it hopeful. Because we all know they belong together!
