MoonGirl115: Glad you liked their date. I looked up a lot of places before I decided on what they should do.

KakaAnko: Happy to know you're still reading.

Guest: I decided to do a pre because… well, do I even need a reason?

Spektor: I think some people may object to me making Six too over-sentimental. But I think he would be a little sweet for Holiday. And as a parent I know that even when my husband and I are on dates we always end up talking about our kids.

I don't own.

Pre-Six Minus Six

"Six? Where were you last night? I thought we were going to go out to dinner and a movie."

"Sorry, Rebecca, I got caught up in a meeting with White Knight."

"About what?"

"About Caesar being able to restore Rex's memory."

"Oh, that. You needed the whole evening to discuss that?"

"There were some… issues that we needed to hash out."

"And?... You can't tell me, can you?"

"No."

"Why am I not surprised?"

"I am sorry about missing our date. Rain check?"

"Well, I'm not letting you off the hook that easily."

"What if I tell you I have something planned that you'd really like?"

"Hmm, go on."

"Sorry, it's a surprise."

"After last night, you better tell me now."

"What if I told you that I had tickets to the symphony?"

"Really?"

"Yes, next week at Lincoln Center."

"In New York?"

"Unless you know of another Lincoln Center."

"Oh, Six, that's wonderful. But wasn't that expensive?"

"You're worth it."

"You know for a hard-bitten, cold-blooded mercenary, you're really very sweet."

"Don't let anyone else know."

"Your secret's safe with me."

"Thank you."

"Is something wrong?"

"Why do you ask?"

"Well, you seem distracted. Was it the meeting with White? Does it have to do with Rex getting his memory back?"

"A little of all the above."

"Rex getting his memory back is a good thing and I think it should be pursued. As much as Caesar seems… a little strange, I don't think he'd hurt Rex."

"Not intentionally. But he still could. The machine hasn't even been tested yet."

"That's always a risk. Are you worried about that or that we'd lose Rex?"

"Why would we lose Rex?"

"Well, with his memory back he may… not be so dependent on us anymore."

"I wasn't thinking about that."

"Weren't you?"

"I would be… happy that he finally remembered his past. I'm just not sure if he realizes that sometimes the past is not all it's cracked up to be."

"That may be true for you, but Rex?"

"His life hasn't been so… easy."

"True, but to remember his parents again."

"Six, you know how much it means to him."

"I know. That's the only reason I'm going along with it. I'm surprised you are as well."

"When I look into Rex's eyes, I see his desperation to know where he came from, who he was, his family. He wants so badly to remember. How can I deny him that?"

"What if it hurts him?"

"That's something he will need to learn to deal with…. And I know the man who'll help him."

"We'll be there for him, Six. We always have and we always will."

"I know."

"Come on, I think we have time to get a cup of coffee before Caesar is ready to start up his machine."

"… Rebecca?"

"Yes,…"

"Not that I'm complaining, but what was that for?"

"To let you know, how much I… appreciate you."

"I appreciate you too, Six."

So sad… We all know how this'll end… Curse you MOA. You couldn't give his memory back at some point… any point before ending the series? And I think Knight knew there would be a possibility that Rex could reboot and change into the rampaging EVO from Promises, Promises so he made sure Six would keep his end of the bargain that he would take out Rex before it happens. But you could see from the episode that Six couldn't do it. He tried to disable the machine instead. And I mean disable not destroy on the off chance that maybe Caesar could repair it and help Rex regain his memories. Or maybe I was reading too much into it.
