KakaAnko: You know I watched that episode again. Honestly, they left it kinda of hopeful. But I think Holiday would start feeling uncomfortable around a guy who keeps flirting with her, even if his lines are better than Rex's. Then in this episode... nothing to indicate that Holiday was comfortable with him. When he turned around to face her, she took a step back from him. Ugh, so frustrating! "What happened out there, Six?"
"He just disappeared… along with that EVO girl he was trying to recruit."
"That I know. He completely dropped off the grid. I can't locate his biometrics anywhere."
"Do you think he was…"
"NO! I mean no. Rex is tough, tougher than you think."
"I know the kid's tough but…"
"No, there's no indication he was disintegrated. He just disappeared. It was probably a portal. He may be in another dimension, but last time I was able to contact him. This time there's nothing... Wait, I'm getting a reading on that energy field that ripped through the area."
"Yes?"
"It definitely looks like one of Breach's portals... but the signature's different... It… it can't be."
"What? What is it?"
"It's a portal… but not only through dimensions but through time."
"What?"
"Rex didn't just get transported to a where, but a when."
"Are you serious?"
"Do I look like I'm joking?"
"What do we do now?"
"I… I… don't know. I guess I have to tell White. He won't be happy."
"Speaking of White, did you look into…"
"Yes, Six. I did some digging around."
"And?"
"Apparently, our benefactors are members of a group called the Consortium."
"Consortium? It sounds familiar."
"Really, do you think your…"
"No, my memory isn't coming back. But I've heard of them before. The name is familiar back in my mercenary days. But they were not a… wholesome group."
"Well, they are the ones calling the shots and they have been putting pressure on White."
"For what?"
"That's what I've been trying to find out in between all this."
"This isn't good."
"Tell me about it."
"No, White can handle pressure. I've seen him stare down a tank without batting an eye. For something to rattle him like this? It must be big. I have a feeling there's more than just office politics. In fact, I don't think that finding Rex will be one of their priorities."
"What do we suggest we do?"
"We resign from Providence."
"What? But how can we search for Rex then?"
"We do it on our own. I have some contacts from the old days that can help us out with the necessary equipment."
"But... but, how do we explain this?"
"I don't think we'll have to. With the changing of the guard, there is bound to be... personnel changes."
"You think they are going to replace White?"
"The Consortium is not know for their patience. They want results and White has not been providing them with it. And if White goes..."
"... We'll soon follow. Are you sure about this Six?"
"No, but this is the most logical explanation given the facts."
"You know, you almost sounded like your old self there... But that aside, how are we going to go about this?"
"Download all your research. Don't leave anything behind. Gather as much of your equipment as you can carry, pack, and I'll meet you in the hanger in an hour."
"An hour? I'll need several to get all my things together."
"How long?"
"I...I'm not sure, maybe 4?"
"You have two. I'll go start typing up our resignations now. You get ready."
"Six, wait. Are you sure this is necessary?"
"Do you want to find Rex?"
"Well, of course..."
"Then this is the only way. Even if I'm wrong about White being on the outs, I don't think Providence would expend the time or expense to look for Rex."
"Why not? He's the world's only cure."
"But we don't know where he is or when he'll be back. Like I said, the Consortium is short on patience. They'll find another way to deal with the EVO problem. The're not going to wait for Rex to just show up... some day. But we... we'll never stop looking for him no matter how long it takes."
"Even if it is a lifetime."
"Even if it takes two lifetimes."
"... Okay, I'll be in the hanger in two hours."
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"For trusting me... this new me."
"Six, the fact that you care about Rex so much... it means that you are still you...the old you... And I trust that Six with my life."
"I'll never stop looking for Rex."
"Neither will I."
I don't remember how Black Knight explained to Rex why Holiday and Six were no longer around but I think somewhere it was mentioned that they left to find Rex on their own. I'm not sure if it was before or after White was replaced. I'm sure White, once he learns of their plans, would confide in them his situation and they would help him stage his whole "exit out of Providence".
