"Oh Six, you're back. Did you find anything?"

"No, it was another dead end."

"I know it's frustrating, but you can't give up."

"I wasn't."

"I didn't mean you would... I was just trying to…"

"I know."

"So, what have you been doing while I was away?"

"I have been monitoring Providence's communiqué."

"And..."

"It's troubling. Remember the collars I mentioned that Caesar was working on?"

"No."

"Oh, I… I… I'm sorry. I forgot about..."

"It's okay. I actually take that a good sign. Maybe I'm becoming more like myself."

"So what about the collars?"

"Oh, well Caesar had been working on this collar that could control the EVOs' physically by hijacking their nanites."

"That doesn't sound bad."

"I suppose theoretically it's not. But there is a slippery moral slope. Providence seems to be indiscriminate in who they put the collar on. I heard from Bobo that they even put a collar on his android replacement."

"So?"

"Well, it's one thing to collar rampaging EVOs who aren't sentient but it's an entirely different thing to take the free will away from thinking ones."

"Hmmm, I can see the problem there. Would they try to use it on Rex?"

"I don't know. They could."

"Then we better find him first."

"That goes without saying. There is also another added consequence that I hadn't foreseen."

"Which is?"

"If this is a cheap effective solution for the EVO problem, as they are now advertising it, then where's the incentive to look for the cure?"

"I hadn't thought about it that way before."

"I mean, I was lucky that Beverly got cured but what about all those other people out there?"

"So what do we do?"

"Well, I talked to White. He seems to think along the lines of the enemy of my enemy is my friend."

"I see."

"We're going to start by trying to get to situations before Providence."

"And?"

"And try to save those EVOs from Providence. Remember the open space? Well, we can store those EVOs there as well as study them. We'll kill the proverbial birds with one stone."

"That's not a bad idea. When do we start?"

"White is out looking for more resources, right now. We're going to need transportation, weapons, containment vehicles…"

"It looks like we have something else besides looking for Rex to do."

"No, this all works toward the same end. Those EVO incidents could attract Rex. He never could turn his back on helping."

"I know. He's a good kid."

"And if he shows up we need to inform him of what's happened…. I don't know how to break the news to him about his brother."

"That he's working for the enemy?"

"Exactly."

"Would he stay willingly at Providence?"

"I don't think so. Once he finds out what they're really doing?"

"Then they might try to control him."

"Probably. He is a major asset. But we won't let them do that."

"No, we won't."

"Oh, it looks like another lead is coming in. Something was spotted in the Mojave desert."

"I'm on it."

"Six..."

"Yes?"
