Twist of fate: Uzumaki Descendants
Chapter 11:
Hot Springs and Unexpected Meeting
Below the ruins of Uzushiogakure no Sato
"The seal holding the Kyuubi back inside you is based on an Uzumaki seal. I think we just found them." said Honoka.
Naruto and Honoka were in the library and were looking at the forbidden scroll which Naruto show her.
Shishō Fūin
(Four Symbols Seal)
This technique requires a great deal of talent to perform. The user applies the seal's formula to an object or a human's body, sealing a large enemy or an evil spirit within them. If two Four Symbols Seal are used, a stronger seal is created; this is called the Eight Trigrams Sealing Style. If the Four Symbols Seals do not completely overlap with each other, this allows the enemy/spirit's chakra to merge with whoever they've been sealed into.
The Four Symbols Seal is based on the fūinjutsu of Uzushiogakure's Uzumaki clan. The Four Symbols Seal is also left on the stomachs of those who perform the Shiki Fūjin.
Hakke no Fūin Shiki
(Eight Trigrams Sealing Style)
A Four Symbols Seal is used to seal a large enemy or an evil spirit into a target, such as an object or a human's body. A stronger seal is created if two Four Symbols Seal are used, this is called the Eight Trigrams Sealing Style. If the Four Symbols Seals do not completely overlap with each other, this allows the enemy/spirit's chakra to merge with whoever they've been sealed into.
This seal is intended to encourage tailed beasts to aid the jinchūriki they've been sealed within, as the more they provide chakra, the weaker the seal becomes, and thus the better their chance of freedom.
"Only those of our Uzumaki bloodline can hold The Kyuuby. Because of this special chakra we have." said Honoka.
Naruto told Honoka about Kyuubi, she already figured out when she used her ability first time.
Honoka wouldn't have ever thought that life as a Jinchūriki would have been that harsh and indescribably brutal. It astounds her that Naruto didn't turn into the very demon that Konoha saw as over the years when Naruto told her about this.
But when Honoka used Kagura Shingan again near Naruto, there was something she couldn't understand. Naruto had four different type of chakras, his own chakra. Another one of the Kyuuby.
But there were two more small chakra in there but they were sealed in the seal to.
Unknow to Honoka or Naruto these two were the chakra of Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze.
"Special chakra?" asked Naruto.
Honoka smiled and explained, "You see I discovered that I have one of those special kind of chakra. This chakra is very rare in our clan."
What about me can I make those chains to?" asked Naruto
Honoka giggled, "Maybe it'll manifest someday, It should be there. Like I said, I didn't know about mine until before I worked for those group of scientists and researchers who recruited me."
"I understand." said Naruto.
"From what I read here it should be a way for you to control the power of Kyuubi and you will need those chains." said Honoka.
"I'm not sure if I want Kyuubi's power... that power... at least not yet" said Naruto
"I understand." said Honoka.
Naruto wanted to become strong with his own power.
Next Day
Naruto and Honoka decided to learn Flying Raijin Jutsu If they managed to learn this jutsu then they could teleport from one place to another. Which will allows them to leave the island and return without problems at any time they want.
"UUUGGGHH! Why would the Yondaime Hokage and and Nidaime Hokage have such a complicated jutsu?! I mean c'mon how is anyone supposed to figure how to use it aaahh!" Naruto says in frustration over the jutsu's complicity.
"Are you giving up so fast already Naruto-Kun." asked Honoka.
"Of course not, it's just that... I'm already used to using my clones for so long to learn jutsu as if it wasn't for my taijutsu training I would have forgotten what true work means in getting stronger." said Naruto.
Flying Raijin it was a jutsu that required a lot of chakra to teleport, trying to learn it using clones didn't seem like a good idea.
After one day of work. Naruto and Honoka began to make progress. But there were also some negative effects. The first who manage to teleport was Naruto.
In a flash of yellow Naruto disappears from a place to a close one Naruto attempts to jump for joy but, instead he fallen with a loud *thump* because he became very dizzy, which happened to be a side effect to the first 10 or so times after performing the jutsu.
At one point Naruto and Honoka managed to use the jutsu. But they weren't that experienced yet, so they decided to use it only for long-distance teleportation. They weren't ready to use it in a fight yet. Nor did they know the methods the Yondaime Hokage used the jutsu yet.
All they needed to do was leave the island to a place where to put the teleportation formula.
Honoka brought a lot of food with her here on the island enough for a long time but having a way to teleport in cities to restore food and other things seemed a very good opportunity that was still a reason to learn the Flying Raijin.
Naruto also saw this as an opportunity for Honoka. Because Honoka never left Uzu no Kuni since she arrived here.
Next Day
Naruto found Honoka sitting on top of a tree branch reading a book while her legs were swinging rhythmically. Looking at her cousin, he grinned when he remembered the sheer panic and distress that was on her face yesterday. It was far too funny for Naruto to see Honoka frantically trying to seal about all books in the library she had, to read on their journey. "I don't want to run out of reading material!" said Honoka.
"Honoka-neechan," Naruto called with a voice that was a bit too loud "Are you ready to leave?"
Honoka sighed exasperatedly. Seriously, it was early morning. 'Where does Naruto get all his energy from? The Kyuubi?'
Closing her book and jumping down from her perch atop the tree branch, she addressed his overly energetic cousin. "I'm as ready as I can be I guess."
"C'mon Honoka-neechan, where's your spirit or your enthusiasm? Aren't you just a little bit excited to go explore the world with me your darling cousin?" said Naruto.
Honoka gave a slight smile "I am excited, I'm just really going to miss this place. It will take at least two days to go and come back with my boat especially if you convince me to come with you through some place to visit before we return."
"Don't worry, we'll be back before you know it. It'll be good for you to come out of your dark and dingy dungeon and see the outside world." said Naruto.
"What are we waiting for? I've already packed all my stuff in my storage seal." said Honoka.
Naruto and Honoka were now on the boat with which Honoka returned to the island.
"I wonder what else we could talk about until we get there." said Naruto.
Honoka thought about it for a couple of seconds.
"Why don't we talk about how you escaped from Konoha? You might have been quite talented at the time, but how does the Jinchūriki of the Kyuubi slip between Konoha's fingers all this time.?" asked Honoka.
"I don't know, I guess I was lucky…" said Naruto.
"What will you do if one day you will not be able to run away?" asked Honoka.
"I don't know... I did what I had to do, I chose to leave all that pain behind I wish to return one day at least take this scroll back, after we make a copy for us. When I will be strong enough maybe I can go back but not yet. And see some people from my past…" said Naruto.
Honoka noticed that Naruto's expression of happiness changed very quickly. Great, leave it to Honoka to depress the most cheerful person in the world.
"Sorry it's just that I gave you my trust but I feel like you didn't fully trust me." said Honoka.
Naruto wasn't filled with anger or hatred but rather with love, Naruto had heart and determination he had the drive and willingness to help others in need.
Something he was finally able to do after he left Konoha in places where people actually accepted his help.
He really missed a few people who acknowledge him but he was afraid. Afraid for being rejected by the people who acknowledge him for leaving and stealing the scroll. If he even had the courage to talk with them after he return.
Or when he sees them like Iruka or Hokage-jiji will the emotion stop him from leaving Konoha? And continuing what a true Hokage should do. And that was to try and create peace and protect everyone.
Because he know the villagers will never acknowledge him. He will never be allowed to become a Hokage but he at least wanted to make what a true Hokage would do, like Itachi.
"You are right. Maybe it was time to talk to someone about this. Thank you." said Naruto.
He even felt better that he now had someone to talk to. And had someone who actually wanted to listen and know him better as a person. Maybe was that what means having a family...
One day later, Yugakure no Sato
Naruto and Honoka arrived in Yugakure no Sato.
Now that they could teleport Naruto and Honoka made two clones to take the boat back to the hideout in Uzushiogakure no Sato where they get it from.
After that both Naruto and Honoka left a teleportation formula and as Honoka predicted Naruto persuaded her to go and relax in that place.
Honoka was not so pleased. "How the hell is this place even considered a hidden village? There are literally road signs pointing towards its direction."
Naruto gave a little chuckle at Honoka's statement.
It's true, even Naruto was surprised by the big sign they encountered that pointed towards the direction of the "hidden" village.
This was the closest place they could come with the boat and Naruto really didn't want to take any chances and go into the Land of Fire.
"What we gonna do now?" Naruto asked, a cheery smile on his face.
"Clothes shopping." said Honoka.
"Clothes shopping?" asked Naruto.
"Clothes shopping," Honoka confirmed. "You look ridiculous in the orange Naruto-kun. You won't be taken seriously if you wear stupid looking stuff like what you are wearing."
"But its my style." Naruto pouted.
Honoka eventually convinced him that if he wanted to be seen as a real Shinobi, he needed better clothes.
Twenty minutes and seven outfits later.
Naruto admired his new look in the mirror inside the changing room. He now wore a black shirt with black shinobi pants. And he found a cape like Itachi and Kisame had but only different it was his size and was all black.
Naruto decided to stay in his original clothes for the rest of the day.
Naruto will try on new clothes when he goes on a mission. For the moment they were here to relax. And didn't want to attract attention.
Naruto and Honoka visited the rest of the city that day.
Later when it was night Naruto and Honoka went to the hot springs of Yugakure.
Naruto headed for the boys' bathroom ready to take a bath and relax only to hear a voice from someone who did not expect to be here.
Looking through the corner of the door he saw the two. What were the two of them doing here?
From their conversation it seemed to be their first C mission about capturing some bandits in this place.
Naruto got back and went to take his clothes back on him and was thinking what to do. They didn't know he was here, which was a good thing.
So right now he wondered how to tell Honoka that he had to leave without getting attention from people who where there with her.
Naruto was near the exit thinking about what to do.
'Ah, this is the life' Honoka thought in contentment, the hot springs of Yugakure lived up to their reputation.
She was there and there was another younger girl and her sensei, she know from the conversation hearing them talking.
The young girl said she was going outside. Honoka thought from her voice that maybe she was little tired or shy.
Honoka did not pay much attention to this and decided to continue relaxing. But unknown to her when the girl left after she was ready.
She was now face to face with Naruto.
Naruto remembered her to. He had always thought of her as a weird girl, really quiet but not mean something he appreciated and liked about her.
But there was something else… she was also the only one in the class that was never mean to him. She seems okay, though Naruto never really got a chance to talk with her and know her better something he regrets a bit.
But more because he always focus on getting attention from everyone because he wanted to be acknowledged and have someone to talk to and don't be alone. And because usually the villagers told to the kids to stay away from him...
Naruto hoped that she would not remember him and that he would pass by her and later claim that this had never happened.
Unlike him, she was trembling, overwhelmed by the too many reactions of her body.
She hoped to meet him again one day and talk to him but even she didn't expected him to be here.
Trembling as she was, she took a step back first. She looked down then she raised her head again and looked at him.
All Naruto wanted was to avoid her eyes, yet he couldn't. Her gaze wandered on his face, sinking in each detail.
"It is you?" she asked, though it sounded more as a sure statement, not a question.
Oh no she remembered him! Feeling it was time to leave. It was time for him to take a step back.
With a look all away from the past, he took faster steps back, before finally breaking the eye contact with her, by turning his back to her, moving towards the exit and then to run away from there.
"Don't you dare leave!" she suddenly shouted, stopping him in his way. She was still trembling but her voice was clear and secure. Once again, they gazed at each other, with the only difference that now he was only looking over his shoulder. There was a distance of around two meters between them.
If it was not for the music which was coming from a closer place the people from there could have heard her scream.
"We have nothing to talk about." said Naruto finally.
"I disagree." She said.
She know she will not have another chance then this so she finally make courage and asked "Why did you leave?"
"I don't get why that matters to you. Trust me. Is not something worth your time... to know..." Naruto said.
Her expression contorted into one of a pained confusion.
"Who put those lies into your mind? Who convinced you that you're so troublesome?" she asked.
"Everybody. Literally everybody from Konoha. I didn't get why until recently, but I understand now. Knowing sucks, but I'm glad I do now. It made a few things fall into place for me. The way you treat me tells me that you don't know yet, the truth. Unlike the rest of Konoha." said Naruto.
Every question became harder for Naruto, Itachi learned him how to control his emotions but it wasn't always that easy and he had to come up with meaningful answers without revealing too much about what he was doing here.
"You may not think I know you, but I do. Better than you'd be comfortable knowing." she said strongly.
"I still don't believe that. We've hardly ever talked." Naruto pointed out. At this, her face fell a tad and her posture deflated slightly.
"I know that. And I wish I could express how s-sorry I am for sitting idly by while the others picked on you. You never give up. You were my inspiration. " Hinata said quietly.
The way Hinata talked to him... if she was actually getting strength from him... then what happens when she knows the truth about Kiuuby... she would become like a puppet with it's strings cut. A person has to be strong enough to stand up for themselves first because no matter how many times someone help pick them up the moment they let go to see you stand on your own you will fall right back on the ground again.
It's the lesson Naruto learned from the people of Konoha. If he didn't pick myself back up every time he got knocked down he wouldn't be here today. He had to keep answering in the negative way.
"Well, it's too late for regrets now." he said with a simplicity that shook Hinata.
"You wanted to become the Hokage..." said Hinata.
Naruto was truly paralyzed now. These words hurt more then a sword. Naruto expected to hear them from someone mocking him. From people making fun of him.
But the way Hinata said these words was like she actually believe in him? And he failed someone who believe in him, again... No he couldn't show emotions now he had to continue and answer calmly.
"That's... the past that I threw away... My naive old self... Despite my old beliefs, that I was a good boy, I'm not... that person anymore... " said Naruto.
'You can't convince me. You don't even want me to stop. The way he pauses to complete those words shows that.' thought Hinata.
"So you will run away from now on?" asked Hinata.
"Ever since I left, I've been able to understand myself more than I ever done in there. Do you want the know the truth? Once you know the truth you will be like everyone else." said Naruto.
No matter how much Naruto didn't like to do this, he had to do it, he had a mission, he couldn't let the emotions and people to get in his way.
" The truth?" asked Hinata.
"The Kyuubi no Kitsune wasn't killed... it was too strong so it had to be sealed... In a new born. Me. And the villagers know this to." said Naruto.
'All the pieces came together. That's why the villagers dislike him…that…is why…' thought Hinata.
"Now, before you run off in fear I gotta tell you that this is an S-ranked secret so you can't tell anyone." said Naruto.
As much as he didn't like he had to do this, he know how all people are like. 'And now she's going to hate me just like e-' Naruto begins to think, only to be cut off.
"How could they be so foolish!?" Hinata said outraged. "If you were like Kyuuby, then you would have destroyed the village a long time ago for what they've done to you, not want to gain their respect." Hinata then blushes as he realizes that Naruto heard her words.
Naruto opened his eyes and slowly looked at her. He was glad to see that there were more people besides Iruka who see him for who he is. But it was to late now to turn back. "Well, you've proven that you're a lot smarter than most of the village. Maybe we could have been friends..."
"I do not hate you, Naruto…and I never will… the villagers do not know you but I do. You never give up. No matter how hard the life hit you. You always get up again…that is what I see when I look at you… I do not care what anyone else thinks and I want to be your friend." said Hinata then added "Tell me true reason to why did you leave?"
A tear has escaped from Naruto's eye and was quickly whipped away by his hand. "Because I have a mission. And because I was too weak. No one would have cared, to actually train me even if I was allow to become a Shinobi."
Naruto smiled and looked at her and said "I wish things could be different but... we can be friends but it will be a little harder because of Konoha..."
"But after your strong enough... you could come back and continue your dream to become the Hokage..." said Hinata with hope in her eyes.
"I will come to visit I promise, but for my dream of Hokage... I need time to think more about our conversation..." said Naruto he could see a little sadness in Hinata's eyes.
This was Naruto. Naruto who had used to cheer her up without him even knowing. Naruto who had never giving up no matter how many times the life hit him. But now...
They both looked at each other. She was wondering what was on his mind right then. He was probably doing the same. And none of them seemed to figure out a thing.
Naruto figure out that Honoka will think he went back home. So he used the Flying Raijin to get back to island. He was still with his back to Hinata, Naruto made the signs for the jutsu and teleported.
And a moment later he was gone. In a flash of yellow Naruto disappears. She didn't even realize how. When. Where… Where?
Where had he gone?
'How much have you change? Naruto-kun.' thought Hinata.
Naruto didn't expect the day to go like this but at least he made a new friend.
Author Note (warning: potential spoilers)
I don't know if it was a good or no idea to add this meeting between Naruto and Hinata so quickly or if I should have waited longer.
There was an episode in which Shino recounts a mission he had when he was a genin, in which Team 8 was tasked to capture a bandit.
And how we didn't have an episode in which we were shown what other teams did besides the Land of Waves before Chiunin exam I thought that adding these ideas to make this chapter...
Just to remind It's the first story I'm writing, so I don't know if the conversation I added in this chapter was so good. I hope it was ok.
I always thought it would be interesting as in a rewriting for the series where the characters have almost the same personalities but go in different paths as in Naruto leaving the village. Hinata truly becoming stronger to get him back.
And Sasuke's emotional growth and variety could be showcased through his dilemma with both Itachi and Naruto... And Sasuke staying in the village because he never feel weak. Because Naruto now is not there now... a lot of things can change.
And this story gives the opportunity to see and try these things...
One more thing I think I should have added this in chapter 1.
I'll tell you how I see things, my point of view: In canon Naruto's love and desire for Sakura at the beginning of the series was because she is an average ninja girl. Naruto wanted all the leaf village to look up to him and select him as Hokage one day for one reason... so that he will be accepted and respected by the leaf village. Everyone must accept the Hokage, and most will respect the Hokage. Therefore, a goal/milestone along that path of becoming Hokage is to get the most average ninja in his grade to believe in him. If he can convince the average leaf ninja to accept him, he will have achieved his long goal of being accepted by the leaf village, rather than ostracised. This is the original drive behind his crush on Sakura and his desire for her to love him.
I wouldn't say he never truly loved her. But I think he never really understood what it meant to love someone, given how his childhood played out. But as Sakura points out in Naruto: The Last, it's not that his feelings weren't genuine. His feelings grew out of a rivalry with Sasuke. It's kind of like how you think you love someone, but after you're with them for a while you realize you didn't actually love them as much as you thought. I don't think Naruto wasn't serious, but his true feelings weren't about getting Sakura to like him back and he truly loved her. Rather, it was just him trying to show that he was better than Sasuke.
And he was with her on the team for a long time and at least I think he love her as a sister. For the team 7, Naruto saw them more as a family in a way.
There would be more things I could mention but I think you already know most of them...
Anyway, let's move on to something more interesting.
I don't think it was mentioned in canon when Yagura the Mizukage died...
And now that Zabuza is alive the second coup d'état will happend soon in this timeline.
I mentioned that Naruto wants to take that scroll back to Konoha...I was thinking that this could happen during the chunin exams.
And that brings me to a question. Should Naruto participate to, so he can test and see how powerful had he become. And in that time he can find a way to return the scroll. And maybe meet more relative during the exam... (If ninja like Dosu for example are allow to hide their face and hair I think Naruto can to.)
If no then i'll find another way to make a chapter I was thinking to...
I ask this because I can usually get very creative with some ideas. Like in this chapter.
And that's why I want to know if they are good ideas or if I should go in another direction because there are many possibilities just like when I asked about what I should do in the Land of Wave Arc in chapter 3 or 4 I think.
Well, tell me in the Review. It really encourages me to continue the story.
