Chapter 33

Bella laid on the clinic bed, allowing Sue to look her vitals over as well as check on her baby. From what she could understand looking at the monitor screens, it looked like everything was good, and the ultrasound of her baby looked fine as well. Her stomach had grown again in the two weeks since being put on bed-rest, and according to Sue, she looked to be four months pregnant now, and she had really only been pregnant for a month and two weeks. It still amazed her at how fast hers and Jacob's baby was developing. However, she hoped it wouldn't be noticeable when she walked across the stage at her graduation in just another week.

She had completely forgotten about her graduation, but when Angela had texted her asking to study for exams, it made her realize just how close she was to finishing her high school career. And because of that, it made her realize she had to not only study the hell out of her notes, but to also go back to Forks to be able to go to school. Jacob had stated that he would take her, but she told him it was fine and just easier to be home with Charlie as far as going to school for her exams went. That was why she was getting a checkup now, because she would be going home today. Charlie was on his way to pick her up at the clinic while Jacob was with the Pack doing patrols and working strategy.

Sue finally stopped her assessment and printed out a few pieces of paper before turning off the monitors and machines. Sitting up the brunette asked, "Is everything okay?"

Nodding her head, Sue answered, "Yes, everything looks just fine. Your blood pressure is normal, as it your baby's, and both of your vitals look great. Therefore, you are cleared to return home. Though, there is one more thing."

"What is it?" Bella hoped it wasn't anything bad; she didn't think she could take any bad news concerning her baby.

The older woman simply smiled. "I know the gender now."

Chocolate brown eyes widened in shock before Bella whispered, "Really?"

"Really. Would you like to know what it is?"

The girl simply nodded. Sue nodded and bent down to her ear, whispering her baby's gender into it. As she pulled back, Bella looked up at her with wide eyes before happy tears filled them. Blinking, she thanked the woman and hugged her before bidding her 'farewell' and leaving the clinic room, taking the papers from Sue as she did. She quickly walked through the halls of the busy clinic to the exit, soon exiting the building and seeing Charlie pull up just as she stepped out.

Walking over to his cruiser, she got into it and greeted, "Hi dad."

"Hey kiddo," Charlie greeted. Backing out of the parking space and putting the car in drive, he began driving out of La Push. As he did he asked, "How did the checkup go?"

"It went well. Everything seems to be in order and the baby and I are just fine."

"That's good. Now all you have to do is complete your exams, graduate, and enjoy the party that the boys, Billy, and I will throw for you and Angela. After all, it's a big accomplishment to graduate high school."

"I'm surprised I'm even doing it, honestly. With everything that I've done and been through, it's a wonder I even made it this far in my high school career here in Forks."

Charlie nodded and placed a comforting hand on hers. "But you did it and I'm proud of you regardless. Even though you haven't taken your exams or walked yet, I'm still proud of you and always will be, Bells."

Bella felt a lump of emotion rise in her throat and tears filled her eyes before spilling over. Stupid hormones, Bella thought to herself, but she knew that wasn't all it was. Charlie, her father that she had put through so much hell before, was proud of her. Even with all her secrets that she had to tell after revealing herself and Edward's nature to him, after learning all that she had done and hidden from him, he was still proud of her. She believed that he was probably secretly disappointed in her, but he wasn't. And knowing that made her feel good, that she wasn't such a fuck-up of a daughter after all.

Wiping her tears, she smiled at her father and replied softly, "Thanks dad."

Charlie smiled and nodded, giving her hand a squeeze before turning to pay attention to the road again, driving along back to Forks.

Stretching and flexing her fingers, Bella sighed and rubbed her eyes, a pleased smile on her face. She had just finished her last exam (English) and she knew she had aced the shit out of it. She waited quietly for the teacher to call time, and soon her paper was taken up and her class was dismissed, just as the bell rang. As her fellow students rushed out of the classroom, some of them hooping and hollering at having completed their last exam, Bella gathered her things as Angela walked over to her. Smiling down at her friend Angela said, "We did it. We finished."

"I know, it's almost hard to believe," Bella replied as she stood up, throwing her book-bag on her shoulder. She made sure to adjust the sweatshirt she had borrowed from Jacob before walking with Angela out of the classroom and into the hallway. Jacob had stopped by her house the morning of her first exam to lend her his sweatshirt, stating that no one would be able to tell she was expecting if she wore it and would just assume she was wearing her boyfriend's sweatshirt. Bella, hadn't really been thinking about how to cover his stomach, had thanked Jacob profusely and kissed him passionately as well. And like Jacob had said, people believed that she was simply wearing her boyfriend's sweatshirt, though Angela knew better and had given Bella a knowing smirk. Jacob had also picked her up that same day and Lauren—much to Bella's amusement—just couldn't believe that she was dating someone so much hotter than Edward had ever been.

The two girls walked towards the exit of the school, not having to attend any more classes now that they were done with exams. As they walked, Angela told Bella that she couldn't wait for their graduation party at the Swan household. But what was surprising to Bella was when the bespectacled girl told her that Embry had something very important to tell her. She was confused because he had told her that it would be hard to believe and understand, but he really wanted her to know. Bella knew that Embry was planning on telling Angela about his secret, his secret of being a wolf Shifter. Stopping by her truck, she told Angela that she already knew the secret because Jacob has the same one, but to just trust him and know that he's not trying to hurt her in any way. Angela didn't really understand that, but she accepted it and told Bella that she would see her at their graduation. Bidding her 'farewell', Bella climbed into her truck, started it, and pulled out of the parking lot to head home.

Ten minutes later, the brunette pulled up in front of the yellow house that was her home and parked her truck. Turning it off, she got out of the truck and closed the door, putting her book-bag on her shoulder and walking into her house. She put her keys down in their place and walked up the completely repaired stairs to her bedroom. The door had been replaced in the week after she had last visited, though she still didn't have a dresser. Charlie's solution, as temporary as it, was to put her clothes in one of those large storage containers. And as for the things that were on it, they had been placed in a box next to it.

Putting her book-bag in her desk chair, she hopped on her bed and stared up at the ceiling. Finally, she was done with school. Now there was just one last important thing to do: done her graduation gown and hat, walk across the stage, receive her diploma, and officially be called a high school graduate.

The graduation passed by in a blur. Bella barely recalled walking on the stage when her name was called and shaking her principal's hand, Charlie, Jacob, Billy, and the entire Pack being there cheering her on, and them finally announcing 'congratulations' to them and all the caps getting thrown into the air. All she could really remember was her finding her way to her family and being wrapped up in congratulating hugs and Jacob kissing her passionately, telling her he was proud of her.

Now currently, they were at her house with hers and Angela's little party in full swing. Angela had said her family would do something for her tomorrow so she could spend time with Bella and at the party that had been so graciously thrown for them. Everyone was eating, talking, drinking, music playing, just enjoying being together. Bella did have to walk away for a bit when she had gotten a call from Renee, her mother telling her she was so proud of her while apologizing for not being able to come to her graduation. When Renee mentioned her flying down to Florida to visit her and Phil and doing something to celebrate her graduating, Bella decided that was a good time to mention that she was expecting. Her mother had been shocked as she had presumed, but surprised when Renee had then replied that she already knew. After talking with her for five minutes more, the brunette finally returned to her party, and she was now currently standing with Jacob, wrapped in his warmth as they spoke with Quil and Jared.

Movement caught her eye and she saw Embry and Angela leave the living room and head towards the backdoor. Angela and Embry both seemed to know she was looking at them and turned to look at her before completely stepping outside, Bella giving them an encouraging nod before they did. She turned her attention back to Jared and Quil, only to find them no longer there but at the food table.

Looking up at Jacob she saw him looking down at her. Blushing she asked, "What?"

"Nothing, you're just beautiful," Jacob replied, grinning when his mate blushed deeper. Bending down to kiss her cheek, he then whispered in her ear, "And I can't wait to have you later tonight. I just love hearing you moan my name and how you feel around me."

Bella bit her lip before saying, "I love how you feel inside me, and I can't wait for it."

Jacob nipped her ear and neck before kissing her once more. Deciding to divert the conversation before things got out of hand, he asked, "Is Embry telling Angela?"

The brunette blinked momentarily at the sudden topic change. "Yeah, I think so. I told him she wouldn't break up with him and told her to just trust him. My only hope is that Angela is understanding and will still want to be with him no matter what."

"Angela is pretty understanding and a cool girl, so I'm sure she will be. And besides, her and Embry complement each other well. She'd have to be stupid to not want to stay with such a great guy."

Bella nodded, talking quietly with Jacob and laughing at the antics of Seth and Quil, Leah cuffing her little brother upside the head for acting foolish. Ten minutes later Embry and Angela had rejoined them, and seeing that they were holding hands, Bella figured that Embry revealing the truth about being a Shifter went well. Before long it was time for Bella to open her graduation presents. She sat down on the couch as the Pack brought her presents before her, sitting them down around her feet. Bending down she picked one up, placing a hand on her pregnant stomach as she did. Setting the gift on her lap, she saw that it was from Sam and Emily. Opening it, she found a hand-knitted baby blanket and cap, the blanket yellow and the cap a light blue.

Looking at the couple Bella smiled and said, "Thank you so much, Sam and Emily. I love it, I really do."

"You're welcome, Bella," Sam replied with a small smile.

"I hoped it would be a good gift," Emily said, her eyes drifting to Bella's stomach briefly.

"It's a great gift, thank you." Bella stood up and hugged Emily, nodding at Sam as well before sitting back down. She had seen the scarred woman's gaze at her belly and she knew she was thinking about how she wasn't having a baby yet, considering her relationship with Sam and how long it has been. She was sure they would have a baby one day, unless something was holding them back.

Putting that gift aside, Bella asked, "Okay, which one next?"

"Mine!" both Charlie and Billy said simultaneously before turning to glare at each other.

Chuckling Bella shook her head and just reached for a gift to unwrap, only for something to come crashing through the window of the house. Glass flew everywhere as alarmed screams and shouts filled the air. Jacob had wrapped his arms around Bella and shielded her from the broken glass pieces and the flying object, seeing as she had been in direct line with the window. The object hit Jacob in the back before hitting the floor.

Charlie shot up from his seat and went to his window, looking at the damage before looking out of it, trying to see if he could spot the perpetrator. Not seeing anyone he said, "What the hell?"

A loud collective gasp filled the air, causing the police chief to turn around. The Pack were all staring down at the object that had crashed through the window, all of them tense as they growled from the smell emanating off of it. The object seemed to be some sort of parcel; a piece of paper was attached to it with Bella's name on it. Bella, feeling her heart beginning to beat quickly in her chest, hesitantly reached out and took the piece of paper from the package. Realizing it was a note and reading it, Bella felt all the blood drain from her face and heard it rushing in her ears.

Bella,

I hear you graduated. Allow me to send you this gift congratulating you on your big accomplishment. I hope you enjoy it; I know I did.

Victoria

P.S. Your time runs out tomorrow.

A sick feeling coming over her, Bella reached down and picked up the package, ignoring Jacob telling her not to open it while tearing the paper off it. Once the paper was off, she was left with a box with a lid. Taking a deep breath, she grabbed hold of the lid and lifted it, peering inside at its contents. A horrified scream escaped her throat before quickly standing up, the box falling from her lap. As the box hit the floor, out of it rolled the head of Bree Tanner, her red eyes wide as her face was frozen in horror.

Everyone else stiffened at the sight, though Angela did gasp in horror before turning to hide her face in Embry's shoulder. Jacob stared at the head in disbelief before Bella running out of the living room caught his attention. He heard her run into the kitchen and was soon throwing up into the sink, Angela, Emily and Sue quickly following her. Seeing the note that Bella had put down, he picked it up and read it over before his eyes hardened, his jaw clenching as he did.

Turning his attention from the note to his Pack, he said, "The redhead has made her move. She's planning on killing Bella tomorrow. That means we go to battle tomorrow as well. I hope you all are ready, because this leech is unpredictable, but if she wants a fight tomorrow, she's got it."

The Pack all nodded in agreement, grave yet determined expressions on their faces. The Alpha's eyes met those of Paul's, guilt present in his but determination to help right his wrong present as well. Nodding to him, Jacob turned to Charlie and excused them before turning to leave the house, the Pack filing out behind him. The time had come to finally deal with the red-haired leech and her partner once and for all.
