Chapter 35
Victoria laughed in amusement as she evaded the large wolves that were aiming to kill her. They all were quite frankly upset and angry over what she had done to Paul, and they couldn't seem to attack her properly, their grief so bad. Well, all but the large red one. He was always so close to getting her she barely had time to duck out of the way. She needed to get away, she needed to get to the Swan residence and take out her intended target.
Cutting a back-flip over the wolves, punching the black one in the head, she landed on her feet and turned, taking off running towards the edge of the clearing. If she could just get into the woods, she'd be able to lose them before making her way back to Forks. However, right as she got to the edge, she was surprised to see her target running full speed towards her, a murderous look on her face. Victoria slid to a stop just as Bella reached her, the brunette throwing her arm back and jabbing it forward, hitting the redhead in the face and knocking her flat on her back.
Taken by surprise, Victoria blinked and looked up at Bella, her red eyes wide in shock at her feral werewolf like appearance. Yellow eyes glared at her and an animalistic growl escaped Bella's throat before her clawed hands were on the redhead, grabbing her by her shirt and tossing her into the air. As Victoria scrambled in the air, Bella ran after her and jumped in the air, grabbing the redhead by the shoulders and pushing her back towards the ground until hard body hit the ground, breaking it beneath her. Bella clawed at her face viciously, not giving the vampire a chance to block her attacks. However, Victoria used her legs and locked them around the brunette's waist, flipping them over and pinning her to the ground. Cold hands wrapped around her neck and began to squeeze, Bella screaming at the feeling of her skin burning from the vampire's touch.
"You think because you look like this and are suddenly tougher than you were makes you stronger?" Victoria hissed, her grip on her neck tightening. "Well, it doesn't Alpha Female. You're still the same weak human you were and always will be."
Victoria grabbed her face with one hand, harshly jerking it to the side and forcing her to look over at Leah and Seth (back in human form and clothed), Leah holding Paul's body in her arms, a distraught expression on her face as she looked at the fighting females. "And like that pathetic piece of shit over there, I'm going to rip your heart right out of your chest. It will be sweet revenge for my James."
Bella, seeing Paul lying where he was, felt the rage she initially felt upon hearing what Victoria had done to him. Looking back at Victoria, she reached up and slapped the vampire, quickly sliding out from under her and kicking her in her gut, sending her flying across the clearing towards Jared and Quil. Bella went to run after her, only to be intercepted by Jacob who was back in his human form.
Grabbing her around the waist, Jacob pulled Bella to him yelling, "Bella stop! What do you think you're doing?!"
"Let me go, Jake!" Bella cried as she struggled out of her lover's strong grip. "I'm killing her! I'm sick of this! I'll kill her!"
"Bells, quit! You can't fight her, think of the baby. Not only will she hurt you, but she could hurt the baby and you're recklessly putting both of your lives in danger!"
"Damn it Jacob, I'm not helpless! I'm not fragile, I can do this! I've been dealing with Victoria long enough and I'm sick of her being a constant cloud over my head and a danger to all of us! Her killing Paul is the last straw; I'm done! Now let me go!"
As Jacob and Bella had been having their argument, Victoria had heard all of it while fighting the other wolves and was honestly surprised to hear what she had heard. Swan was pregnant? And she was stupid enough to come out here and fight her because she thought she could? Well, she'd fix that. Punching one wolf in the snout and jabbing another in the side, she ran for the struggling couple and slammed into both of them, knocking them back and forcing Jacob to release his hold on Bella. Turning her attention to the brunette, Victoria smiled evilly before grabbing her by her hair and dragging her along the ground as she ran around with her, Bella's shouts of pain music to her ears. She finally released her and quickly turned, giving the Alpha Female a swift kick in her stomach.
The air was knocked out of Bella and pain instantly filled her body starting from where the redhead had kicked her. Bella groaned and curled up on the ground, her arms wrapped around her torso as she was filled with horror at what had just happened. Victoria had just kicked her in her stomach, her pregnant stomach! Her baby…what if…what if Victoria had just…
"No," Bella whispered as angry tears filled her eyes. "No!"
Picking herself up, Bella turned to Victoria, her chest heaving with the heavy breaths she was giving. Victoria had killed Paul, she had just possibly killed her baby, and she was still intent on killing her; Bella was beyond pissed now. There would be no more death this day from those that she cared about, not if she could help it. The only other person dying today was going to be that bitch standing in front of her.
Victoria was going to go for Bella again, but didn't due to the look in her eyes. It was such a crazed look in those eyes that were spilling tears and it gave her pause. And within that crazed look was the intent to kill directed at her. She noticed Jacob (the red wolf) move to stand by Bella, only for the brunette to hold her hand out, telling him to stay back. Raising an eyebrow at the girl she asked, "Have you had enough, Bella? Or are you ready for me to end your life?"
Bella didn't respond, just continued to stare at her with the same crazed look in her eyes, her chest heaving faster as her breathing quickened. She then opened her mouth and let out a scream, the sound feral and shaking everyone to their core, the trees bending from the sheer force of her scream. The scream turned into a howl as brown fur, the same shade as her hair, sprouted all over her body and her clothes ripping off her body as she transformed fully into a wolf about the size of Leah's wolf, though still standing on her two legs. It was almost like she had taken on the look of a real werewolf than a wolf like the Pack, and it was an incredible sight to see, one that frightened Victoria more than she thought it would.
Yellow eyes locked in on the redhead and Bella charged towards her, moving faster than she had before and faster than any of the Pack did when running. Victoria stumbled back in shock as the Alpha Female pounced on her, her clawed hairy hands grabbing hold of her head, her feet perching off her waist and knocking her down onto the ground. The vampire's head was slammed relentlessly into the ground over and over, her body locked and pinned down by the Alpha Female's on top of hers. A clawed hand went for her face, Victoria screaming as her claws dug into her face and eye, breaking through the marble skin. Sharp teeth chomped down on her upper arm, Bella's head jerking to the side and ripping her arm away from her body. Victoria let out another scream from that action, screaming louder when her other arms was ripped out. Knowing there was no way out of this fight alive, especially since Riley had been killed by those damn wolves, Victoria did the only thing she could think to do.
Sitting up as best she could, she leant forward and bit Bella's shoulder her teeth sinking into her skin through the fur and injecting her with venom. A yelp escaped the Alpha Female's mouth and she in turn slapped Victoria before grabbing hold of her head again. Looking into frightened red eyes, a sense of satisfaction filled Bella before she finished Victoria off, ripping her head off her shoulders, then smashed the head into the ground, breaking it into pieces.
Huffing, Bella stood up off Victoria's body and turned to face the Pack, all of them staring at her in some form of awe. She then looked at Jacob who was trotting over to her, a look of awe and amazement in his eyes, as well as anger. She knew why he was angry, but before she could do anything, the pain in her shoulder from being bitten flared and caused her to tense up before dropping to her knees, the fur on her body receding back into her skin and her lupine features disappearing until she looked like herself again.
Jacob quickly phased back to human and grabbed Bella, looking at the bite on her shoulder before picking her naked body up and looking at her face, noticing she was suddenly sweating profusely and seemed feverish. The venom, Jacob thought.
Quickly hurrying back to the others, he said, "I've got to get Bella back to the Res. The redhead bit her and I've got to get her back to Old Quil."
Sam, who had also phased back, nodded and said, "We're right behind you, Jacob. We also need to get Paul's body back as well."
"Sam," Leah's voice called out softly.
Turning to her, Sam, Jacob, and the others looked to see her with her head over Paul's bloody chest, her ear right where his crushed heart was. Her brown eyes were wide before looking back at them and whispered in disbelief, "He's still alive. His heart is still beating. Somehow...Paul is still alive."
Author's Note: I'll be real, I really thought about killing Paul off. But alas, my heart just couldn't do it. I really suck at fighting sequences, but I tried my best here.
