The man didn't put Naruto down until they were outside and he only did it by throwing him into one of the large carts that had been prepared to take the girls away. He still couldn't sense any of his teammates, but he was absolutely certain that they would be along shortly so he just sat and waited for them.
"What are we going to do?" Amateratsu asked once all of the girls had climbed into the cart.
"Shut up!" growled the man that had carried Naruto out as he climbed in and began to glare at them. Naruto just glared right back at him. It was officially at the point where he had to stall. "What are you looking at?" the ninja hissed at him. Had it been any of the other girls in the wagon that the ninja thought to try to frighten, that look might have worked, but since Naruto wasn't one of those girls he was not so easily scared.
Naruto raised a brow in a show that said it should be obvious to the other man in an attempt to anger him and it seemed to work very well. The ninja growled and lifted his fist to hit Naruto, but then forced himself down. Apparently, the ninjas weren't allowed to beat up the girls that they were taking to whoever hired him. that was going to be their mistake.
"We're leaving," the man growled at whoever was still outside of the wagon, but he never took his eye off of Naruto who just stared back at him.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Naruto shrugged nonchalantly.
"Why not?"
"I think you have a mole in your midst. They probably want you to take them to your master so that they can arrest him or something like that."
"First of all, the man who hired us is not my master and, second of all, I couldn't care less if he gets killed as long as I get my money. In fact, it might be better for him to be killed because then I could just have all of his wealth."
"Or none of it."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, if they kill you too, then you won't get any of the money either."
"There's no way that they would kill me."
"Really? They took down your men pretty easily."
"Those were you're body guards." The ninja's eyes narrowed as realization came to him and he grabbed Naruto by the throat. "Who are you?"
"Me?" Naruto grinned. "I'm a shadow clone."
"Damn it!" the man growled as he quickly pulled out a kunai and aimed it towards Naruto.
"If you despell me," Naruto said calmly, "then they'll know exactly where we are."
"Who are you?" the man growled again.
"My name is Namikaze Uzumaki Naruto," Naruto smirked.
The ninja didn't recognize the full name, which Naruto didn't actually expect him to, but he still stopped for a moment to think upon Naruto's father's last name. That name was known all over the place by both friend and foe because that was how much of a name his father had made. Naruto had made a similar impact when he was Hokage in his other life, but he didn't expect it to be the same in this one.
"Never heard of you," the man growled.
"I didn't think you had," Naruto shrugged, "but you asked who I was and I answered. I go by another name that you might recognize more, though, if that makes you feel better."
"And what's that?" the man asked getting a lot closer.
Naruto closed his eyes in disgust as the smell of the man's fowl breath assaulted his ultrasensitive nose. When he opened them, they were the red slits that he once wore when he called upon Kurama's chakra. "Kyuubi," he smirked.
His captor practically screamed as he let him go almost immediately as he scrambled to get away from him. Apparently that name struck a bell. More of one then he was expecting from a big strong ninja like the one he was currently facing, actually, but he didn't really care. He could sense Sasuke nearby, so his only concern was to make sure that the girls remained safe during the battle.
The moment Sakura broke the field that was keeping the captives from him, Sasuke could feel Naruto's presence again. It was the most comforting thing. The whole time that he couldn't feel Naruto, reminded him of being with Orochimaru and he did not like that feeling at all. It was always Naruto's presence that gave him small amounts of hope even when he didn't realize it and was still pushing Naruto away.
The barrier was hiding more than just Naruto's presence. A three-story building appeared right before them and several girls were being pushed into the backs of large carraiges. Sasuke couldn't see Naruto, but he could tell that he was in the carriage closest to them. It would be so easy to go over and get to him while encountering little fight, but that would put the rest of the girls in danger and Naruto would not be happy with him if he did that.
"What's the plan?" Sakura asked.
"Kakashi-sensei and I will distract the kidnappers," which there were actually more of then he was expecting, "and you take care of the girls."
"What about Naruto?"
"He'll help you."
Kakashi didn't say anything, which both Sasuke and Sakura were glad for. This was one time that they realy didn't want to have to fight with him and he, luckily, understood that. He had enough experience with them now that he didn't doubt them anymore.
Sasuke waited for the perfect chance and found it when one of the ninjas scrambled out of the carriage that Naruto was being held in.
"Looks like Naruto's already taking care of them," Sakura smirked.
"Let's move," was Sasuke's only resonse. Sasuke and Kakashi immediately moved to fight against the ninjas who were gathering around their frightened comrade while Sakura slipped past them to get to Naruto.
"You're late," Naruto smirked.
"I'm not the one who got kidnapped," Sakura responded easily.
"But you are my bodyguard," Naruto pointed out. The two of them smiled, but they didn't have time to really continue their short banter since the rest of the girls were already freaking out. Amateratsu was doing her best to calm them down, but Naruto's little stunt had freaked them out more than it did the ninja. None of the girls would even let Naruto anywhere near them so he decided to let Sakura and Amateratsu take care of that carriage while he went to the other one.
