"Goddamn you!" Jinx screamed, struggling against her captors even after the Titan children were long out of her sight, their sounds muffled from behind the wall they were in. She kicked uselessly against the other men's boots, screaming until her throat felt like it was bleeding. She stared at the wall with all her might, fervently trying to force her magic to come back to her and break the wall down. She waited and waited, but there was nothing. It was as though she had been turned off, a switch to get rid of her powers.

She was thrown on the ground with a rough slam, her body knocking against the concrete painfully. Her arms were twisted underneath her in an excruciating way, and she let out a loud scream as she rolled onto her stomach. The guards roughly grabbed her by her shirt and forced her to sit up, fixing her twisted arms from underneath her. As the pain subsided, she glared hatefully at Slade through her damp pink hair, which had fallen in front of her face.

"They are much more pleasant when they're small children." Slade said dryly, still in the same stance as before. He hadn't even twitched. "Much easier to control."

Jinx shook her head, her eyes welling with frustrated tears. "They're kids. They're like fucking five years old! What kind of person takes a bunch of five year olds and locks them up!?"

Slade laughed, and Jinx held back to urge to burst into helpless tears of frustration. "It doesn't matter their age. The Titans have always been a nuisance in my plans. While I enjoyed the chase and adrenaline they gave me, it became a bother when I tried to get things done. Time after time I had tried to defeat them, to beat them down like the dirt they are, but they never gave up. Even when I had my apprentice Terra, they still managed to kill her off and nearly find me as well. So no, I don't feel any pity towards them. Children or no."

"You are a pathetic, pathetic man," Jinx spat, and she felt one of the guards' grip become a bit stronger on her arm. They were starting to drag her away, back the way in which they had came. They were going to throw her back into the cell, she realized. Jinx fought against them the best she could, her voice screaming out to Slade. "You're a fucking monster! I hope you die! I hope the Titans somehow manage to come back from all of this and kick your ass!"

Her words had no affect on him. Jinx could hear Slade's dry laughter even from the hallway, echoing down it like some sort of creepy lullaby. Even though her screams and struggles, her feet slamming against metal bars and her shrieks spilling from her lips, the laughing continued over them. The guards paid no attention to her struggling, all they did was throw her back into the cell and slam the door, staring at her intently as she scrabbled on the ground helplessly.

She felt like she was some sort of fucking animal, writhing on her back and letting out whimpers of pain as she attempted to sit up, her legs kicking up from underneath her.

When she had finally got herself to sit up, she leaned her back against the wall. The handcuffs were digging into her skin, and she had to lean on one of her arms in order to stay somewhat comfortable. A stray, limp piece of pink hair stuck to her face, but she didn't bother trying to remove it. There was no point.

The children. She remembered their faces, even though she had only seen them for what felt like a second. They had been so full of fear, their eyes wide with horror and filled with tears. Robin's mask had been ripped halfway down his face, along with something smeared on his cheek that looked both like mud and blood. In fact, all of them were smeared with red, little pinpricks of blood splattering on their clothing and faces and hair. Cyborg looked as though part of his armor had torn off, his circuits exposed. There was also something else that bothered her, something that she was pulling over in her mind over and over again.

Where was Beast Boy? The little Green changeling was nowhere to be found in the cage. She knew that if he had been in there with them, he would be screaming just like the rest of them. But he wasn't. Jinx wondered, sadly, if Slade even noticed that one of the Titans had been missing. Honestly, the only Titan that Slade cared about was Robin. The two of them had a history, and not a good one.

He didn't care about the rest of them, and Jinx knew that much.

Jinx fiddled with her restraints, giving up seconds after she started.

Had Beast Boy managed to escape the gunfire somehow? He had remarkable powers; and that power was probably the most stable out of all of them right now. None of the other Titan children really understood their abilities: even Starfire wasn't quite sure what the bolts in her hands did. Robin just acted like a monkey while Cyborg tried to function like a normal little kid, even though his hands were made of metal and his veins were circuitry.

It was sad. It was really fucking sad.

Jinx didn't know how long she was kept in that jail cell. She knew that the hours had turned to days, and how the days had turned into weeks. Maybe two weeks, at the most. Her hands were now free, and she wasn't restrained anymore, but her powers had been drained. She had no idea how the hell Slade managed to do that, but she knew that it was most likely the stupid shot that she was still injected with some time to time, especially if she got too loud and started to bang on the cell bars, demanding to be let free.

She wasn't treated with kindness or an ounce of mercy, and her resolve was starting to waver. Back at the HIVE academy, she was subjected to a wide array of torture and horror. But none of them lasted this long. Two weeks of being beat up like some kind of pathetic little kid, without her powers she was nothing more than an ordinary little criminal.

A petty one at that.

Her clothing had been replaced by a brown burlap type of material, scratchy and painful to be around if she moved too much. The rest of her tattered clothes had been thrown away, slung in a trash can like garbage. They had even taken her shoes and underwear, so that was totally humiliating. Jinx winced at the cold that sliced through as she sat in a different position, trying to stretch out her legs. Her stomach grumbled painfully, and she held back a whimper of pain and just held her stomach, lying back against the wall.

The two measly little meals they fed her were pathetic. Brown watery soup and a stale piece of bread, once early in the morning, and once late at night once the sun had set. And they would toss a bucket in everyday for her to piss or shit in.

Jinx laughed dryly to herself, licking her dry lips. She was nothing but an animal, a prisoner here. Until they decided to kill her.

She would rather accept death than continue to live in this sort of state. Honestly, she would.

Sighing, she closed her eyes and sighed, ready for sleep to come and take her over. Sleep sounded nice, a really good deep sleep.

Something tickled at her foot, and she cringed and moved her foot away from it. Her eyes were still closed, she simply shifted positions and tried to settle herself into the murky darkness that she had prayed for since she had been enslaved. Surprisingly, she felt something touching her bare foot again, and then she froze.

Was that something.. alive? And.. furry...?

With a small, panicked yelp, Jinx flinched and her eyes flew open. The back of her head hit the wall and she winced, her vision blurring for a second before she saw a flash of green, disappearing in the dark corner of her cell. Rubbing her eyes and trying to focus on what she saw, she leaned forwards and hissed quietly.

"What the hell are you?"

She waited a couple of seconds in the dark like that, her body tense against her restraints. Her eyes watched for any movement of the strange furry animal that had brushed so easily against her foot. As creepy as it was, she still wanted to see what it was. Because.. she had thought she had seen a little bit of green..

No, no. Jinx shook her head disgustedly and put her head back on the wall. She was so desperate to see someone alive and well that she was hallucinating. She didn't see anything, or anyone. It was probably a rat that thought she was on the verge of death and attempted to get himself a meal. Disgusting, but the most realistic.

A small squeaking noise came from the corner and Jinx lazily opened her eyes again. Yeah, come out from your hiding spot you little bastard. I could use a good meal.

A tiny, pathetic looking green mouse crawled from the darkness and sat at her feet, looking up at her with wide eyes.

Jinx nearly had a stroke from utter shock.

"B.." she stuttered, her voice breaking a little. Was she still hallucinating? Oh god, had she gone off the deep end? Her hand reached out and gently touched the mouse, praying that her hand just didn't pass through it. But the little mouse underneath her hand was warm, and his small back rose and fell with each breath. It remained still underneath her gentle hand, it's head moving up to her palm and resting against it.

"Oh god." Jinx said, her voice breaking entirely and tears welling up in her eyes. "Shit. Oh shit."

She moved her hand and the little green mouse changed from an animal to a small boy. Beast Boy was looking up at her tiredly, his eyes wide and his face smeared with dirty blood and dirt. He looked exhausted, but he was fucking alive.

"Jink.." he said quietly, rubbing his eyes.

Jinx shot forwards and grabbed the little Titan in her arms, drawing him close to her body. She felt his tiny arms wrap around her small waist and she started to break down and cry. But for once she was humiliated that she was crying like a pathetic little kid. The utter relief that this child was alive and not captured in Slade's clutches had melted a huge weight off her shoulder.

"You little shit." she cried, keeping her voice as quiet as possible so that no guards would come. Well, maybe they thought she was crazy, so they wouldn't come. She had been talking to herself for the past week. "Oh my god, I thought you had died out there."

"No die." Beast Boy said quietly, amazingly calm for a five year old. "I hide."

"You're a smart little kid." Jinx sniffled, letting go of him and wiping at her face. "How did you manage to do it? The rest of them..."

Beast Boy shook his head and bit his lip anxiously. "Rwobin told me to hide when wes got captured. When the bad men in black came. So I useded my powers like you tol' me Jink!"

Jinx wiped at her eyes and managed to laugh a little. "Yeah, you did. Holy hell, I'm proud of you. Raven would be proud of you too, you know that?"

She didn't mistake the bright look that crossed the little changeling's face when she said that, the look unmistakably happy that it would've been sickening if she wasn't so happy that he was back. "Rweally? You pwomise?"

"I promise." Jinx said, meaning it for once. Raven seriously would've been really proud of him. He had done something close to his old self- something that a Titan was known for. Escape, and fighting back.

The little guy had managed to hunt them down somehow and find her in this little cell, without being caught by the guards and Slade himself. That was respectable, especially from a toddler.

"What now, Jink?" Beast Boy asked, his voice now quiet with worry. Jinx could practically see the little gears in his mind turning.

Jinx gently ruffled his hair and smoothed the dried blood from the green strands. First thing they did when they escaped from this hell: all the Titans were getting a bath. With soap. But that was after the hurtle of managing to escape from Slade's clutches. "We need to rest. Get some sleep. Tomorrow- we break out."

"An' we get Rwobin and the rest? Cyborg and Starfire?" Beast Boy asked hopefully.

Jinx nodded. "Yes. But we have to be strong. You have to use your powers. I can't use mine right now."

Beast Boy looked worried, but he seemed to accept that without a word. "Okay." he said quietly, changing back into his mouse form.

Jinx laid on the floor near the wall and let the tiny green mouse climb into her hand and sleep there, gently curling her palm and resting it's tiny head against her fingers. She felt anxious at tomorrow's escape, but really relieved too.

Whatever tomorrow brought, it would be either escape or death.
