As I always say, I own none of these lovely characters, but I do love to borrow them and play!
Maura stands near her kitchen island and looks in at Jane, Tommy and TJ as they watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on their new 55" OLED television. Maura had offered to rent a suite right on the parade route for the weekend and clearly remembers Jane's reaction.
Jane looked a little confused as she runs a hand through her raven curls. "I know the family gets a little rowdy, is it too much for you?"
Now it was Maura's turn to be confused. "What? Oh, no, Jane. That's not it! I thought we could give you mother a break from doing all that cooking."
"Would it only be us?"
"No, we could all go. We could watch the parade from the windows and then go to dinner."
Jane's face relaxes and she gives walks over to embrace Maura.. "Maura, you have such a generous heart, but really haven't thought this through. Do you really want to be kicked out of one of your favorite hotels or restaurants because of the Rizzoli Family?"
Maura leans her head back to stare into her love's eyes. "Now, Jane, why would I be kicked out?"
Jane strokes Maura's back as she leans in to whisper in Maura's ear."What happens when someone wants a roll?"
Maura's eyes widen slightly. "The one with the basket of rolls closest will usually pick up one roll and throw it in imitation of a football to the one asking for the roll"
"And when we are watching football?"
"There is much loud yelling and cheering."
Jane is nodding. "During halftime?"
"Some of you go outside to play flag football." Maura smiles. She now completely understands Jane's point. Thanksgiving is a very interactive holiday for the Rizzoli family. "What time would you like to invite your family over on Thanksgiving?"
Somehow it was decided to purchase a larger, more advanced television with the money they were saving from not going out on Thanksgiving. The new television would 'immerse' the viewer in whatever was being shown on the television. Maura remembers Jane's excitement when the television was delivered.
Mara snaps back to the present.
"Come and get a cinnamon bun!" Angela shouts from the kitchen.
"Perfect time, Ma! Commercial just came on." Jane smacks Maura's ass as she walks by. "C'mon, Maur. Your buns can handle a cinnamon bun for breakfast."
Tommy grabs TJ and puts him in a football hold to carry him giggling into the kitchen.
Tommy grabs 2 buns from his mother and gives her a kiss on the cheek. She flicks the hand towel at his rump. "Save one for your brother!"
"Ya snooze, ya lose, Ma. If he ain't here for the parade, he don't get one of your buns. He'll have plenty to eat at dinner!"
TJ is offering Maura a bite of his cinnamon bun.
Jane has her arm wrapped around Maura's waist.
"Frankie is on his way. Korsak will pick up Frost once he snow-blows his driveway. We're having a white Thanksgiving – think we'll have a white Christmas?"
The sounds of the television, conversation and laughter surround her. The Rizzoli family personalities fill her house to overflowing.
Her house maybe, but THEIR home.
She remembers how peaceful and quiet it used to be - how boring and lonely!
Maura looks up into Jane's face and thinks about this holiday. She is thankful for the love of this beautiful woman. She understands fully that when she marries Jane Rizzoli, the whole Rizzoli family comes with her. She accepts this fact and rejoices in it. She would legally be a part of this family.
Jane Rizzoli, you are going to be mine!
Maura pulls Jane's head down for a kiss and tastes the sweetness of cinnamon roll.
Hi everyone! Thank you for the reviews that I've been getting. Glad to be back writing again. I want to move the story along. Happy Thanksgiving to the United States! Everyone have safe travels! My love to Belgium!
