Orb watched the group of people as they talked about the scenes that they had seen. Orb started up the next viewing, getting everyone's attention. "This should be good." Qrow grunted as he took a swig.
The scene opened to Jaune and Ren in a hospital. Ren sat in a hospital bed, hooked up to a couple wires and tubes. Jaune was in a white doctors coat and scrubs. The door opened and Nora came in, a rush of energy. "Renny! Renny!" she smiled as she flung herself into his arms.
"Nora, let him be. He just underwent testing." Jaune sighed, pulling up a stool.
"You're going to be alright, Right Renny?" Nora looked her husband in the eye, full of concern.
"Renny! We're married! Look!" Nora said, glomping onto her 'husband.'
"Yes Nora, yes we are." Ren sighed, patting the redhead on the head.
"Nora, he's-" Jaune said, about to break the bad news.
"I'm going to be fine, Nora. Just give me some time." Ren cut him off, kissing her on the nose. They laughed with the "boop."
"Nora, I'm afraid that i'm going to have to ask you to leave the room for a moment. I need to talk to Ren. As his doctor."
"It is interesting that we see Jaune in so many different positions." Winter said to the General, who nodded in agreement
"Why's the Ren dude sick?" Sun asked, and Ren just shrugged
Nora skipped out of the room, content that Ren was going to be ok. As the door closed Jaune gave his friend a level look. "You can't lie to her forever, Ren." Jaune said, looking at the clipboard. "You know that you're not getting out of this with time alone."
Ren took a breath in, looking at his feet. "I know."
"You could take my advice and undergo Chemo." Jaune said, sighing into his hand.
"You know i couldn't do that to Nora. We barely make enough to pay rent and food, no matter how much you cover for us." Ren sighed. "There's no real easy answer, is there?"
Jaune just put his hand on Rens shoulder, a serious look on his face. "I swear to you Ren, I will find a way."
"Kid can't save him. He knows that, right?" Qrow said. That earned him a glare from a lot of people, including Neo and Roman interestingly enough. "I'm rooting for him." Roman said finally, returning his attention to the screen. "Kids determined."
"Yeah! Fearless Leader always finds a way!" Nora stuck her tongue out at Qrow, who returned the gesture. Cinder rolled her eyes. "Pathetic bugs." she muttered
The scene cut to a room light by computer screen and a lamp. A shattered moon hung in the night as Jaune slaved away over something. He set up a camera, and started recording. The screen viewpoint became what the camera was recording. "Test number one of Ren's cancer cure. Fifteen days and no test subjects besides me." Jaune said dully as he prepped the injection. "Please don't kill me." he muttered as it went into his arm.
"What is he DOING?! Injecting untested mutagen into himself!" Penny said with shock. Ironwood gulped, thinking that that sounded bad.
Jaune fell out of his chair, clutching the injection site in pain. He struggled to make it to a machine on the deck, sticking his hand on a prick. Some blood leaked out into the machine.
A red negative flashed on the monitor.
"Damn it." Jaune said
The camera blipped to show jaune again from the recording. "Day number 42, test number two of Rens cancer cure." Jaune was red eyed, and bags hung under his eyes. The injection went into his arm, and he fell out of his chair again.
"The dumb ass is going to kill himself." Raven grunted, looking at the pain he put him through.
Another cut saw a really shitty looking Jaune. "Day number, whoof, three hundred and fifty two? Fifty three? Ehh, almost a year. This is test ten for ren's cancer cure formula." Jaune met eyes with the camera. They were bloodshot to an incredible degree, the once bright blue dull and they seemed to flash yellow. Like a crocodile's would.
"Ok, that is freaky as hell." Mercury said, shuddering at that.
"Here's to hoping." Tai said, gulping. Raven just held his hand.
"Here goes nothing." jaune croaked as he stuck himself with the syringe. He blanched as he doubled over, spasming for a moment. As he recovered, he stuck himself again with the testing device. The screen loaded for a moment, before a green positive flashed.
"Holy shit, I did it." Jaune said in amazement.
"Holy shit, he did it. He made a cure for Ren." Sun said to no one.
"See, told you!" Nora laughed. Qrow just raised his hands in mock surrender
The scene cut to Ren sitting in his hospital bed, looking kind of sickly. Jaune and Nora stood next to him, all three were somewhat grim faced.
"Is it just me or did Jaune get… bigger from when we last saw him?" Yang said, looking over the Jaune. He did indeed seem to be… buffer? Taller? Bigger is a good term. His skin also seemed just a little bit scaley.
"You do understand that I am not fully sure of the side effects of this, right? They are limited to large scale spasms immediately after injection and constant headaches, but beyond that I have no idea. You still sure you want to take this now?"
"Jaune. If you say it works, I trust you." Ren said before Jaune sighed, shakily injecting Ren with the formula. He twitched and convulsed for a minute in his bonds, before calming down.
"You ok, Renny?" Nora asked her husband
"Yes. I believe so." he said, breathing heavily.
"I'm still running you through all the tests." Jaune said flatly
A scene cut to Nora, Jaune, Ren and Mercury sitting at an outback table.
"Wait, why am I there?" Mercury asked, shrinking from Cinder's raised eyebrow
"Because you and Jaune went through medical school together. You're a therapist in this universe." Orb said, spinning in circles
"So Jaune, you been working out?" Mercury said, punching his fellow doctor in the shoulder playfully. Jaune reacted badly, flinching at the hit. It looked like he almost was about to hit the silver haired therapist. "Wha-? Nah. i've been busy with working with Ren." he smiled, looking over the menu.
"You sure? You have gotten beefier." Nora said, poking jaunes forearm. Jaune had gotten bigger since the last scene. Fortunately, Jaune was saved by the waiter coming up to take their order. "The outback burger please, no onions." Mercury said
"The Double decker Cheeseburger!" Nora said exuberantly
"The Seafood special please." Ren said, handing the waitress the menu
"I'll take…." jaune was trying to decide. "I'll take the Steakzilla. A coke, and a large side of shrimp and fries." Jaune said finally after considering his options. His friends and the waiter looked at him in shock.
"What, i'm hungry." Jaune defended himself as he gulped water down.
"How rare would you like your steak, sir?" the waiter gulped
Jaune gave him a toothy crocodile grin. "As rare as you can get it."
"I thought that I was going to be the one who was eating a lot." Laughed Nora. Merc and Jaune gave her a questioning look. "Well, we asked to meet here for a reason after all." Nora giggled, putting her hand on Rens. Ren smiled at her before addressing their friends. "We're pregnant. Or rather, Nora is. I'm just responsable." Ren laughed. The rest of the table also dissolved into laughter. "Congrats, man. About time." Mercury laughed warmly. They talked about the baby for a while. A steak the size of Ren's rib cage was placed in front of Jaune.
"Renny! We're having a kid! Renny!" Nora shook her friend. He just nodded yes.
"Are we going to ignore the size of that steak? It could feed armies!" Tai pointed out as everyone besides Ren and Nora did acknowledge the sheer size of the dish
The scene cut to Jaune walking home from the restaurant in the dark of night. As he walked, a large man, not as large as jaune, pushed him into an alleyway.
"Oh no. this is bad." Mercury said, partially in delight as he munched on infinite popcorn. He and Emerald then dissolved into snide comments and snickering.
"Therapist Jaune was right. They are dysfunctional." Wiess said.
"Now, you gonna give us your money, or else we gonna have a problem. Got it?" The mugger said, two others joining him on the left and right.
"Uhhh…" Jaune looked around frantically, hoping for a way to escape. The mugger pushed him against a wall, pulling out a blade. "Well Punk?"
"You- you really don't want to do this." Jaune said nervously. The knife pressed closer to him. Jaune snapped, his eye turning bright crocodile yellow. A beastal roar and he ripped the mans throat out with his mouth
"SWEET MOTHER OF OUM!" Mercury jumped as he watched the muggers throat get ripped out, major arteries following. Everyone at least winced at the brutality, and those less experienced in it jolted.
"Oh…. my….. God." Jaune said, looking at the corpse at his feet. He looked at the other two muggers and seeing them distracted, ran the fuck home. He slammed his apartment door closed and collapsed into a chair. A scene cut showed Jaune getting up, clearly having changed over the night. He now had visible scales under his eyes as he washed his face. Green scales now adorned his back and forearms, replacing patches of skin. He had to bend his head over to not hit it on the apartment ceiling.
"Well, he's not a noodle anymore." Yang laughed. Ruby blushed heavily at the shirtless, scaley, giant Jaune. "He's got to be bigger than Yatsu." Goodwitch muttered, looking at the mountain of a man.
Jaune pulled some rather tight pants on, and tried to bring the clasp together. The button refused to budge. He sported a look of annoyance and tried again. Nothing. Jaune sighed. "Time to get some bigger clothes."
Mercury and Tai both laughed at this. Emerald just rolled her eyes.
A scene cut to Jaune standing outside the doors of a small store called "Ben's Big and Big". he was clearly larger than the door, and was trying to figure out how to enter. He opted to hunch over and turn sideways, and still struggled to get past the door frame. After making a fool of himself, he strode to the kiosk, trying to make himself as small as possible. That left him at a megar 7 ft 3, and he still towered over everyone else in the sparsely populated store. He approached a bull faunus that was a solid two or so feet shorter than him with his head down. "Uhh… do you have anything in my size?" Jaune asked the desk worker. He gave jaune a once over, thinking.
"Son, You at Ben's Big and Big." he said, looking jaune in the eyes that peered from under his hoodie, which was far too tight on him. "You gonna need Ben's Big and Bigger." Jaune eventually left with a bag of clothes and strips of cloth so that he could amend them.
"Jaune can sow?" Weiss asked, not believing that the dolt could do that.
"Sing, Dance, Sow, Garden, Cook, you name any mundane household chore, he can do it." Orb responded.
A scene cut to a Jaune that was fully crocified. Snout and tail, covered in green scales. His eyes were still piecing blue. He stood in the rain, a red rain jacket covered his shirtlessness. He stood at the door of a nice house, knocking. A visibly pregnant Nora answers the door. "Jaune? Is that you?" she asks, amazed at the behemoth croc of man standing there.
"Hey Nora. I need a place to stay." Jaune said, looking down at the now tiny girl. Nora blinked a couple times. "Of course."
The scene cut to Mercury, Ren, Nora and Jaune sitting at a table. "Soo… want to tell us what's up with you, Jaune?" Mercury asked, looking in wonder at the behemoth of a man.
"Holy crap, he is big." Ruby said, now really understands how much larger he was compared to everything else. "Agreed." Penny said as Sienna Khan just comapired him to some reptile faunus she had met in her life. Well, he is much more of a lizard then they were.
Jaune sighed, poking his noodles with a fork. "When I made Ren's cure, it took me almost a year. I went through ten tries, and nine failures." Jaune said, not meeting anyones eyes. "The formula was modified virus and white blood cells. I used Crocodile DNA to help the cells target cancer. I guess after nine to many doses of the stuff it affected me." Jaune laughed. The laugh cracked into a breaking sob. "I've made myself a monster." he cracked out.
"Jaune…" Ruby said, hugging her knees. Everyone that knew Jaune personally or had a heart felt sorry for the poor boy. Even Mercury and Roman. Neo was not quite thawed yet by the blonde.
"Well, I think that's enough for now. We will be seeing that universe later. This viewing was just background work." Orb said, setting up another universe.
"Question?" Mercury said, raising his hand.
"Yes, Mr. Black?" Ozpin said out of instinct.
"Not you. Orb Dude. Why am I always a good guy in these?" he asked, just a little bit annoyed.
"Ehhh, you are surprisingly one of the few asshole Mercury blacks out there." Orb said with a shrug. "Anyway, i'm starting the next one up."
