"As always, feel free to explore the theater. Nowhere is off limits." Orb said as the screen died out for the moment. Ruby and her team got up to return to their game as Cinders group meandered around the theater hallways. Pyrrha and her group wandered around as well, finding a room labeled 'Archives'.
"Wonder what's in here?" Nora asked, opening the door. Inside was rows and rows of various forms of records. CD disks, stone tablets, boxes of USBs, some metal orb looking things. Each were labeled in the same style. " .87-B." was one CD that caught Nora's eye. Another, a chip card with the tag " .Chief-117-AC." was another that she grabbed. "Ohh, let's watch some of these! These look fun." she grabbed a fist full of various things, coming back to Ren with an armful.
Ren sighed as he leafed through the various recordings of Jaune. "Right. Let's go with this one first."
In another part of the theater, Cinder was angry. Not only did this… apparition take her power, it was going to reveal all her plans! It had already shown futures where she had succeeded. But giving the enemy information was not acceptable.
"Mistress…" Emerald started, trying to find a way to calm her down.
"What?" Cinder spat, turning on her subordinate. "This damn Orb is ruining our plans! He's revealing our goals, and we've learned what? NOTHING!"
Mercury thought about it for a moment. "We learned that this Jaune kid is important somehow."
Emerald rolled her eyes. "Pfft. trust me, I did some looking into Jaune Arc. the dudes about as harmless as a Hamster." Cinder agreed with a nod, still mulling over how to outwit the frankly somewhat oblivious headmasters
"Then why the hell are we here, watching the blonde bastard!" Mercury snapped, tapping his foot. "If a magic flaming Orb God summons you to a Theater that can create food to watch a dude, one would think it might be a wise idea to get through you damn skulls that he might, very possibly, be dangerous!" The silver head man yelled. This insult angered Cinder, who's eyes burned in rage.
SLAP
Mercury reeled back, clutching his cheek. It burned red, the handprint in the normal world would have been a permanent scar, but the magic in the theater healed it almost as quickly as it was delivered.
"You. Will not speak back to me. Understand, Mercury?" Cinder growled, eyes flashing dangerously. And for a moment, for a single moment, Cinder was replaced with an angry drunk man and a burning house. He wanted to run again
Mercury stayed silent for the moment and bowed his head once more.
Raven was hiding a whole world and mind of panic behind a mask of calm. While she could not be happier, she was still going though every single what if in the book.
"Orb." she said. No ease, just pure bluntness. Orb turned from talking to Goodwitch about some universes.
"Yes, Raven?"
"We…" Raven swallowed, not sure if the being would accept her ask. "We would like to leave. We have some… things to talk about."
Orb nodded. "Alright then. You will be returned to where you were. You have a portal?" Orb asked Raven, who nodded. "Good. goodbye then. I'll see you later."
And with a pop and a poof they were gone. Goodwitch blinked. "That was weird."
"Would you like to leave too?" Orb asked, making the offer
She shook her head. "No. i'll stay for a little while."
Orb nodded, wondering what should be shown next.
Sun and Neptune were wandering around when they heard noises from the Archive room. They moseyed in, seeing NPR on some bean bags, watching General Arc.
"Hey, mind if we watch?" Sun asked, already making himself comfortable.
"Sure! The more the merrier!" Nora exclaimed, munching on a pancake.
The monkey faunus and the blue headed man settled in.
Another disk entered the reader.
"Aaaand BOMB!" Yang said with a laugh, taking over Nora's character. "15 points of damage, plus burn counters!"
"And that's the game!" Ruby said with a cheer, so happy that they defeated Torchwick, even if it was only in a game.
Roman grumbled at having been defeated, but congratulated the huntresses anyway.
"Good job, kids. You won. Now, what's next? You wanna play another game Red?" Roman almost mocked. Neo signed something at her counterpart.
"Nah, i might end up quitting."
"Quitting what?" Wiess asked, suspicious.
Roman shrugged. "Nothing of importance, kid."
"Nothing of importance…"
Jame paced heavily around the room, the inner circle watching him contemplatively.
"James…" Ozpin started, trying to snap his friend out of his pacing.
James jolted, looking at the wizard. "Sorry, i'm just thinking."
"About?"
"All of this. Flaming orbs, you're students having some unknown importance, and just… all of this." the general sighed, pinching his nose.
Ozpin nodded sagely. "I know. James, I know."
Qrow merely took a long swig of alcohol. "This is fucked up, man. Real fucked up. Here we are, being forced to watch other planes of existence by a burning basketball"
Orb turned to look at the dusty bird. "Ahem."
The Ozpin inner circle group turned to the orb, wincing.
"I am much larger than a basketball." the orb said seriously.
Crow nodded, deciding to not try and poke the fire orb god with a metaphorical stick.
Goodwitch took a deep breath. "This is just…. Stupid." she said, rubbing her face.
Orb seemed to take offence to this, spinning quickly to the witch. "Is it so? I have already given you hints and information about the future, and how to prepare for it. I would not find that stupid. Now, if you will, I have a place to be."
The archive group was crying. "NOOOO! NOOOOO!" Nora yelled at the screen. Ren was comforting a trembling Pyrhha.
Sun just stared in silence. "Man, that is fucked up." Neptune managed to say flatly.
A knocking came from behind them. They turned, startled.
"Thought I ought to warn you, our viewing is going to start soon. I recommend you compose yourself." the orb said, taking in the shocked group. "Let me guess, The Road Home?"
Ren nodded in conformation, handing Nora a magically created pack of tissues.
"I'll let you be then." Orb left, hoping to find his next person of interest.
Mercury Black was sitting in a secluded hallway, rocking himself. His mind was going back to a drunk old man who would yell and scream and hit and hurt for no reason besides he wanted to.
Mercury tried desperately to pull his mind off of him, he was dead, he wouldn't hurt anyone again. But his mind refused to listen
"Mr. Black." A familiar warbling voice came from besides him.
Mercury looked up to see Orb, looking down at him and rotating slowly.
"What do you want?" Merc spat venomously.
Orb only lowered to be next to the shaking teen.
"Want. that is an interesting word, want." Orb started. "How can I, as a literal god in some ways, have want for anything? Anything I wish I can simply write into existence. Someone dies that I don't want dead? I could turn a blind eye to the rest of the world, the rest of a multiverse and look at an option where they live. But here I am, talking to you."
Mercury looked at the orb sceptically. "And what does that have to do with me?"
"I am here because I want to be here, Mercury Black. Because I want to."
They sat there in silence for a moment as Mercury looked for the words to say. "Now, we have a conversation to have. There is something you need to know."
It took twenty minutes before everyone had made it back to the main theater area. Mercury and Orb entered last, Mercury with slightly puffy eyes. "Well, now that everyone's here and metally… recovered, we have some more things to watch. Just a warning, Jaune is a bad guy in this one.
