The crowd settled, getting ready for the next movie.
Emerald leaned over to her partner, Mercury. "Soo, what did you and orb talk about?"
"My father." Mercury said, pulling some popcorn out of thin air.
"Oh?"
"Yeah. Anyway, film's starting."
The screen opened with Team RWBY, Cinder, and a small boy named Oscar fighting Salem. It was obvious that it was at the cusp of the end of the battle.
Cinder looked appalled. Why was she fighting Salem?
"Blake, Cinder! Hellcat!" Ruby called out, sliding into a sniper position. Pulling out a very special, arcanic looking bullet. With a bang, the camera followed the bullet from the scope past the fight and right into the grimm queens chest. Her back exploded in dark ichor and boney material, splattering the great throne behind her. Salem gasped in pain
"You fools… you've played right into his hands…" before collapsing down, apparently dead.
"That was… anticlimactic." Ozpin said.
Orb nodded. "I didn't have time to show the entire fight, sorry."
Ironwood gave a look at the orb with a nod. "Don't be. There are things you want to show us, and cutting to them is fine."
Ruby looked up from her scope. "Did the magic bullet work? Is she dead?"
Cinder poked her with a spear, made of dark and white crystal. "Look at it. I'm impressed that this hairbrained plan worked." she sighed before taking a step back.
A slow clapping came from behind them. "Brava, Brava, Bravisimo!" a voice echoed from behind them. The group turned to see Jaune Arc, in a t- shirt and jeans. "I must say, an excellent job, well done."
Ruby made a face. "Wait, I'm confused. Why is everyone so shocked to see Jaune?" she asked, noting the expressions of team WORFBY (Warfboy).
"Just watch."
Cinder made a face, being the only one brave enough to say anything. "But how? Yo-you're supposed to be dead! How are you here?" she said, pointing her spear at him.
Jaune laughed a little. "Oh, dear, dear Cinder" he said with a shake of his head. "Do you honestly think that i'd be dumb enough to die at my own game?"
The crowd was taken aback by this.
The crowd was taken aback by this Ironwood blinked. "What does he mean, His own game?"
Orb sighed "he's about to explain."
Ruby shook he head. "Your own game- what do you mean your own game, Jaune? What is going on?!"
Jaune smiled, walking up to the dead corpse of Salem. "Very well, allow me to explain." at this he paused, making a contemplative look on his face. "No, There is too much. Let me sum it up. Everything was planned from the very beginning."
The looks of disbelief and shock on WORFBY's face was something to behold.
"Impossible." Cinder said, not believing Jaunes bold claim.
Jaune tisked at her. "On the contrary, it was merely difficult. You see, I had a three step program." Jaune explained, starting to pace a little. "Step one: reveal Salem and her threat to the world. Step two: have you six kill Salem, ending her permanently, Step three, Rebuild the world, Profit!" Jaune exclaimed with a flourish.
"Now, I see you all are confused, so let me break it down, scene by scene.
Act one! Ensure things went according to plan as best I could. So I put on the mask of the lovable fool until it was time. And the time came, as Cinder invaded Beacon. It was at this point that I had hoped that Salem would at least be hinted to the world, but alas, people are stupid. But, key people were set on the right path. Namely you, Ruby." Jaune said, pointing to the silver eyed warrior.
"Wha- I don't-" ruby started, only to be cut off. Jaune turned to Oscar, giving him a bit of a glaring look.
"Unfortunately, you, Ozpin"
At this, several audience members were very confused. Why did Jaune refer to the tiny kid as Ozpin? Ozpin and his inner circle, however, and sweated at his secret getting out.
"decided to not play the game properly. After playing this shadow war for so long, keeping your powerful pieces behind shuffling pawns in our metaphorical game of chess for so long, I thought you would continue to do so. But Amber was not meant to have part of the Maiden's powers taken from her. Cinders predicted attack was supposed to completely fail, Amber would have been rushed to Beacon academy, kept under wraps. Cinder, would, of course, go hunter and kill Amber in the siege, taking the powers for herself." Jaune explained this possible timeline and his predictions, making a gesture to the maiden
"Pyrrha was never meant to be the Maiden, but you decided to move a Bishop after so long. And I, or rather Cinder, was forced to take it. Pyrrha was never meant to die." at this, Jaune took a shuddering breath in.
"Wait, I die?" Pyrrha said. "Again?" here she referenced the several universes where she had died in her time in the archives
Orb looked apologetic. "Unfortunately, yes. You do seem to die in a lot of universes."
"But Cinder gets the Maiden powers in the end, just as predicted. With this, Me, Ruby, Nora and Ren go out in search of Cinder, hoping to kill her. We find Ozpin" at this, Jaune points to Oscar, the next incarnation of Ozma "and go about our merry way. Meeting back up with the rest of RWBY and securing the relic of knowledge, the siege of Atlas happens. I, at this point, am no longer necessary for the success of the team, and find a good point to "sacrifice" myself." Jaune took a breath, looking everyone in the eye.
"After giving Ren one last ask in a letter, I make it my "dying wish" to use the last question to ask Jinn about the temple of the two gods, the last connection that the gods had to this plane of existence."
At this, Ozpin looked horrified and sceptical. 'Is he serious?' he thought. 'He can't be planning what I think he's planning.'
Jaune continued to speak, pacing a little more around Salem's corpse. "Jinn tells you reluctantly, and does her best to obscure the way. I was concerned that you would not find and destroy it. But you pulled through, and ripped the gods from this world forever. Thus, Salem and Ozpin are rendered killable. It is at this point that Ren became suspicious that I had… some greater knowledge or power that was not given, and theorized my true purpose." Jaune swallowed, looking dismayed and regretful.
"He had to be removed."
Stunned silence hushed the room. Ren blinked. "Jaune killed me?"
He was met with a telling of silence. His face fell. Nora clung to him a little tighter.
Weiss turned from shock to anger. "You killed him. Him and Nora, you killed them both!" she yelled, preparing to stab the blond. Jaune simply grabbed the rapier, a contest of wills occurring for a moment
Jaune looked her in the eye, grabbing and pushing aside the weapon. "I really hoped that Nora could let him die alone, but no." he shook his head. "She was not going to lose him. I gave them swift, painless deaths. It was what they deserved, to die happily in each other's arms."
Jaune took a shuddering breath, trying to compose himself. "With Ren and Nora gone in a believable manner, I guided you behind the shadows to Salem, where you met Cinder. Her predicted betrayal from Salem, and with the promise of Salem's power convinced her to join you. It was at this point that my plans for step three, which is to set up the rest of the world. Starting with Atlas"
Ironwood gripped his armchair, scared of what was going to happen to his beloved country.
Wiess looked worried again. "You mean Jaques Schnee, my father, the absolute worst person to become high councilor of Atlas, was part of your plan too?"
Jaune nodded. "Absolutely. I needed him to become counselor to incite Robyn's revolution to a full scale."
Ruby blinked. She had heard about the bloody and frightful revolution. "You… that was your plan? Thousands died in the revolution! Thousands more died with the siege! Don't tell me that the siege was part of your plan. Please don't" Ruby said, the last part becoming a plea. Jaune looked down, breaking eye contact with the reaper.
"Everything was part of the plan, really. The sinking of Vale, The Siege of Atlas, the Burning of Vezqua Balos. All of it, calculated."
Sun's mouth dropped. "Vezqua Balos burned?" he said in disbelief. One of the three great cities of Vaulco, burned?
Orb was sollom. "It burned for five days straight during the attacks. Very few survived it. It's viewed as the last great failure of the Vaulcan government." Orb said.
There was a repulsed shock in the audience
"Are we going to ignore that Vale sunk? How does that happen?!" Qrow yelled finally, pointing out the insane idea.
"It's an unfortunate, but common event in the multiverse's history overall. I'll show how later."
Blake blinked, doing some mental math in her head. "You- you killed millions! You're responsible for the death of millions of deaths! You killed Qrow! Taiyang! Ren and Nora!" she yelled, pointing a shaky hand at Jaune. He somehow, despite his natural easygoing and disarming personality and build, looked quite menacing at the moment.
Taking a breath, he looked at the cat faunus in the eye. "I know."
Those words seemed to break something in the atmosphere.
Those words broke the audience, being pushed so far beyond logic that they just gaped
"Anyway, as I was saying, Revoltion going on in Atlas, Vaucan goverment woke the fuck up, and with Minstral, Vauco, and Menagarie all signing the union of sovgern states accord, Atlas's new goverment is sure to follow. With Salem and the gods dead" at this, he gestured to the corpse that was missing a large portion of her chest "the grimm are on their last generation and will die out in time. So, I have, over the course of five years, brought the grimm threat to a permanent end in a few years, brought the world closer together and have ended wars for the foreseeable future. And at what cost?" the mastermind said nonchalantly.
At this Oscar said something. "Millions of people died! Millions died because of you!" he screamed.
Jaune gave him a look, like an adult might when a child asked why the puppy had to die from old age. "A small price to pay for salvation, Oscar."
Cinder gripped her spear tightly, so angry that she had been outplayed. The rest of the world she could care less about, but this? This was an insult.
"And now for the final step in my plan-" Jaune started, only to suddenly find a large spear in his gut. Coughing up blood, he looked down to see that Cinder had ran him though. He chuckled a little. "My planned suicide." he finished before stumbling backwards onto the throne, sitting down. He took slow breaths, a spell that held the rapturous attention of both his audience on and off screen. "Oscar, I have.. One last wish."
Oscar stepped foward, despite every cell in his body screaming not to. "Y-yes Jaune?"
Jaune laughed. "Don't sound so scared. Remember gasp when I told you I would ask a favor from you? Back in Vale?" Oscar nodded
"Well this is it. Make sure everything goes to plan Oscar. It should, but just in case" Jaune smiled kindly, before closing his eyes and leaning back into the chair.
The group of mainly huntresses took a moment to process what they just heard.
The screen faded as Jaune Arc expired, to be forgotten as the greatest mastermind to ever live.
The audiences spell was broken when the movie ended.
"Mother of Oum…" Ironwood said, still wrapping his head around the death count.
Orb stood beside the general, just behind him "yes, very Thanos of him. Ah, I suppose you wouldn't get that as well." Orb said. After a moment of people mulling over what they saw. RWBY and NPR were shaking in the odd chilling fear that the last Jaune had. Cinder was… oddly turned on at the evil aura that the Arc had displayed. She was a evil psychopath, so screw her!
Actually don't. She'd probably go full praying mantis on you and turn you to ash
Orb gave them a minute. "I'm starting up the next show. Good news, it is, indeed, a splinter universe of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure."
He was given a strange look.
"Stands." he sighed. The crowd nodded with understanding
