Barry just stood there bewildered. He had just killed off four members of the main cast of Fairy Tail (sort of) and then reversed time to a point where he hadn't! He had also somehow revived Ultear in the process!
By killing four people he brought back five! Fairy Tails' plot armour truly knew no limits.
"Ultear? What are you saying? What happened?" Jellal asked. He was looking at Acnologia in the process, but the Black Dragon seemed just as shocked as everyone else there.
'He wasn't aware he could do that. So why did he?' Jellal wondered.
"He killed you all Jellal! All four of you were dead, I saw it happen in the rift of time. Yet, he somehow distorted everything, all of reality. The world of time was not just stopped, but reversed. It wasn't like the eclipse gate at all, he actually reversed time." Ultear explained. Jellal's eyes widened in shock.
She wasn't lying, she would know what happened better than anyone else thanks to her time-related magic.
"How long did we last?" Jellal asked. He knew there was a major risk, facing off against Acnologia.
"You died after the first attack he released...Jellal you have to run! None of you even damaged him slightly during the fight!" Ultear pleaded.
"But-"
"Shut up you prideful man! There are just some enemies you just can't oppose without proper help! He's one of them!" Ultear yelled. Barry didn't know what to do in all honesty, after somehow reversing time the more Acnologia side of him was falling flat, possibly just as confused as he was.
'My goal was to get to Stella, not kill off wizards. I should go before I lose control again somehow.' Barry thought. He turned away from them, and began giving them a wide berth.
"He's just walking away?" Rogue asked.
"That's...weird, but I guess we can't really stop him without help."
"Ichiya! Something strange just happened. We don't stand a chance against Acnologia like this, and especially without Fairy Tail here to back us up. I...think we should just let him leave. We can't stop him."
"Sir Jellal!? You haven't even tried from what I saw! Wait, why is miss Ultear with you!?"
"I'll explain it all later, but for now, do not engage him. Christina will be destroyed in seconds, he's far more powerful now then he was at Alvarez...he...managed to fully absorb the ravines of time without drawbacks."
"...I understand. We shall let him leave, and form a plan for his return at once!" Ichiya proclaimed. Barry pressed his foot against the ground, and leaned forward before taking a breath of relief. He looked up, and leapt. His jump kicked up dirt, rock, ice and snow into the air, and he shot straight past Christina at speeds so great the wind that followed caused heavy turbulence.
"Was that him!?"
"That's the closest I've ever been to someone that strong! I thought I was gonna faint by his power alone!"
"Why did he pussy out?"
"Maybe because last time he got his ass kicked into another dimension!"
"Yeah, but wasn't he mindless and torn into two separate entities when we did that?"
"Why are you all arguing!? None of us did shit! We were all just tagalongs!"
Barry flew through the vast sky, and saw the border of Fiore. The border was marked with large outposts and walls that were only separated by vast amounts of dense forest. He could see that the landscape was somewhat different from so high above the land. Fiore was filled with vast amounts of greenery and forests, while Seven was somewhat different right from the moment he crossed a few miles over the border. It was far more mountainous than Fiore was, and Fiore was no stranger to mountains either.
Seven also had staggered forests everywhere, along the lower slopes of the mountains. He saw roads travelling along the lower mountains, and he saw magic cars and carriages riding along those same roads. His attention was diverted, and he focused ahead of him as he started falling. He reached the side of a large mountain, and he planted his feet into the rocks. The amount of speed he had picked up caused his feet to tear through the rubble before smoothing out into a slide. His hair and cloak whipped behind his body as he slid down the mountain, rocks and dust flooded the area behind him, and he used his arm to destroy anything that got in his way. Whether it be trees or boulders.
Yet, once he finally slowed to a halt, what he saw, was unlike anything he could remember seeing before. It was a massive city, with a large, thin mountain standing within the center that the entire main palace was built around. Large walls were surrounding the mountain, and Barry could feel something within that palace. It was almost like a strange foreboding sense at the back of his mind.
'There's something in that palace that's unsettling, but what is it?'
That's when Barry's impeccable ears picked up on something happening far below. Curious about the new development, he leapt off his perch and soared through the air before spinning around to see what was happening.
It was a fight. A fight between what looked like heavily armed soldiers and two civilians. Barry immediately felt the urge to jump in, but he suppressed it. He didn't know enough about the situation, he didn't know who was in the right or wrong. The government in Fairy Tail wasn't always perfect, Edolas showed him that. So he allowed himself to land nearby, and watch the scene unfold.
"Stop resisting, and your sentence shall be diminished heathen!"
"Heathens!? What!? Just because we don't believe in your stupid religion!? Fuck that! I'd rather take all the punishment!"
"Careful what you wish for. The great Father might see to your punishments personally." A guard claimed. That gave the pause, but not enough to give up the fight. He watched as the guards aimed their weapons and began firing magic blasts at the two. He was surprised to see them avoid the blasts, one of them ran through the wizards and began beating them down before they could react, and the other leapt into the air.
"Diamond, make Crystal rain!" He chanted. A bunch of hard diamonds rained down onto the guards, and most of them batted away the diamonds with their spears. One of the guards threw his spear at the wizard, but he threw his forearm up, and a small, diamond shield appeared that protected him from the spear. The impact was so hard that the wizard went flying backwards.
'These wizards are no joke, but neither are the guards for once.'
'Why are you wasting our time with these weaklings instead of pursuing your goal?'
'You again? Just when I thought I was rid of you.'
'So long as you possess this body, you shall never be rid of me, thief.'
'I'm curious, never exactly been to Seven before.'
'It's a dictatorship.'
Barry froze, did the voice in his head just say something useful for once?
'What...are you actually talking to me and not mindlessly screaming?'
'It's clear anything I attempt to do will result in you just undoing it with that newfound time power we've acquired. All I can hope to do now is point my old power in the right direction.'
'I don't think I trust you to do ANYTHING right.'
'You, as far as I can tell, have no experience with magic. No experience in combat, and no experience in meddling with entire kingdoms. You are a normal person, and I am a four-hundred-year-old mage with more knowledge than some libraries have. So until the dragon gods and whoever else grew stronger in my absence eventually realize we've been reborn and kill us, you will need my guidance to stay alive.'
The dragon gods? Shit, it wasn't very clear how strong they were compared to Acnologia in the one hundred years quest book, but if they were fighting Barry and not the actual Acnologia, they had a much better shot at killing him then before. Still, after what happened at the border, it would be a dark day in hell before he let Acnologia regain control.
'I only plan to guide you so far until I find a way to take my body back from you, thief. Or until, as I suspect, our minds fully merge.'
Wait. What?
'Merge?'
'I suspect our bonding to be the work of a powerful, outside party, and bonding one's soul to another's body normally causes the previous soul to have influence even after death, or whatever on Earthland you would call my own unfortunate demise. We've already begun addressing each other as separate entities, but also as the same entity. In time, we will be one. For if I truly wish it, I can now prevent you from doing something, and vice-versa. Eventually, our minds and goals will merge, and a newfound entity will be formed from it.'
'So any decision I make has to go through you first until our minds merge?'
'I don't care about the little things, but any big decisions you decide to make, I will have a say in whether you like it or not.'
'Anyway, dictatorship?'
'Seven, has a terrible dictator known as the Great Father, and this place believes that all magic should be given to those in power, and the poor should earn their right to have magic. Those that learn it without permission are instantly labelled as dark wizards.'
'...Well, that seems horrible. Why do you care so much though? I can't imagine you just walked up and asked somebody one day.'
'Because unnaturally powerful beings like myself are what they fear most. They launched numerous attacks on me in different kingdoms, they all failed.'
'You didn't wipe them out?'
'I only found out who it was right before Zeref approached me and announced the Alvarez war. Otherwise, yes, I'd have wiped them out.'
The presence in Barry's mind faded, and he quickly found he had regained control of his body. He also noticed something else.
The battlefield had hardly changed from the last time he gazed upon it.
'DID I STOP TIE WITHOUT NOTICING!? FUCK! HOW DO I DO THAT NORMALLY!?' He seethed in his mind. He watched as the diamond mage was still soaring backwards. He didn't know what kind of magic the girl used, but she was bashing around guards harder and harder with each hit.
"Subdue her and prevent movement! She's utilizing energy conversion magic!"
'Energy conversion?'
'The more she moves and expels energy, the stronger and faster she becomes until she stops moving. It's dangerous magic, as it can lead to heart attacks and death by pure exhaustion, but it seems she's willing to take the risk.'
'Does it have a limit?'
'Yes, it keeps working until her container runs dry. Physical energy feeds the magic, but without any magic to keep it working, she'll lose that strength.'
He watched as her hits started to leave craters and dents in the armour and shields of the guards around her. He saw her avoid shots at increasingly impressive speeds but also saw her face growing redder every passing second until some blood dripped from her nose. She threw a left hook at one of the guards, and his head snapped to the side so quickly Barry swore he heard the snap. Right as she did that, though, a net was thrown on her that stopped her from moving. He saw steam expel from her body, and her muscles decreased in mass.
"Ninzi! Shit! Diamond make: Erupting crystals!" The diamond mage shouted, crystals of pure diamond erupted from the ground and sent some of the guards flying into the air. Some of the guards were caught off-balance, but others flipped around and fired their weapons at him. The diamond mage suddenly crossed his arms, and a second later, they were coated in diamond, and all the shots bounced off. One even went towards Barry, and it exploded on his chest. Barry just coughed and brushed his chest off.
A stray shot obliterated a nearby boulder that had to weigh at least ten tons.
"Hey! Captain! Someone's watching from afar!" One of the guards yelled out.
Whoops, guess the gig was up. All eyes were on him now.
"Who the hell are you!?"
He silently wondered why they couldn't feel his magic; most wizards could.
'These are run of the mill soldiers using magic weapons; they aren't trained in magical sensing like normal wizards.'
Ah, that explained why they seemed angry, and the diamond mage looked like he was ready to shit his pants.
"Holy...shit...how did I not notice that power before?" The diamond mage muttered. Yep, precisely what Barry was thinking, good job voicing the obvious rebel wizard.
"What's he muttering!?"
"Who knows!? This man looks like a mage if I ever saw one, come quietly, and you'll be treated peacefully."
Barry was struck by the absurdity of that decision. He was being taken for viewing a fight? That was stupid.
Also, a small part of him wanted to tell these guys to go to hell.
"Go to hell."
Hey, he was Acnologia now, he could do a lot more and get away with a lot more than he could as Barry from Earth.
"Open, ACK!"
"You're wide open, moron!" The diamond mage as his diamond-covered fist, crumpled the man's armour and sent him tumbling across the rocky terrain. He tore the net off of Ninzi if he remembered right, and helped her get to her feet. The guards turned their backs on Barry to focus on the two wizards they'd been fighting before.
They were ignoring him.
'Teach them respect.'
'With fucking pleasure.'
Without any disagreement between them, Barry was free to do as he wished. Still, he didn't exactly want to rip out their insides with a single attack; he just wanted to prove a point. He had never killed anyone, he wasn't Acnologia, and he never would be.
At least, he hoped it would never come to that.
Barry launched himself forward so quickly it had seemed like he vanished to the guards and the diamond mage alike. He stopped himself from going any further about a meter behind the captain. The only distinction between him and the others was the fact that he had some kind of yellow symbol engraved onto his chest plate. The diamond mage went to strike the captain again, but the captain actually caught his fist and threw him away like a ragdoll. The captain threw his spear, and blue lightning crackled around it, causing the spear to become like a lightning bolt.
"Stay back you rebel scum!"
"I'd worry more about myself."
Barry acted on instinct; he leapt upwards so quickly that he vanished again and crossed his arm in front of the diamond mage mid-flight. He let the spear hit him, and it bounced off his arm harmlessly, only causing his body to tilt backwards naturally. Barry grabbed the spear in midair and tried to throw it back. Well, he didn't know how to throw a spear, so it just spun out of control and ended up tearing into the rock below.
"So you're with the rebels, eh? I'm surprised they have someone as-"
"You talk too much," Barry said with an annoyed glare, he didn't even mean to, but the glare sent shivers down the guard's spines. Barry leapt forward, and this time not as quickly, he only appeared as a blur, and his foot completely crumpled the torso of the captain's armour and sent him flying backwards. The captain spat up some blood while flying away, and Barry worried he might have just killed a man. He was relieved to see that the captain stopped himself mid-flight by flipping over and tearing up the ground with his hand, he was out of the fight though, as he collapsed a moment later.
"He took out the captain in a single hit!?"
"Everyone, fire!"
True to their word, they all opened fire on barry. Each shot caused an explosion that created a cloud of dust. Barry felt the ground underneath his feet begin to give way. Each explosion sent rubble flying everywhere, and yet he never felt the need to shield his eyes from any of it. It was a strange feeling, considering how many pebbles were flying through the air.
"Direct hit!...I...uh...don't think he even moved y'know."
"Stay at your position!"
"Why is he in charge? We're all the same rank he is."
"I don't know, but someone had to do it, I guess."
Barry flapped his cloak so quickly that all the dust blew away like a sandstorm.
'Alright, I've had enough of this pathetic display. You want them to fear you without killing them? Fine, then flaunt your power! Make them know they are completely outclassed and can't hope to win no matter what they try!'
'That seems stupid. Isn't that how you lost to Fairy Tail?'
'Yes and no, there were other factors, these are normal guards, not an entire country of guild mages.'
'Fine, what should I do? Let them keep attacking?'
'No, just don't put so much effort into defeating them. They aren't worth the effort and leave one standing to send the message. I've made up my mind.'
'We're taking this country down? Why? I want to go to Stella.'
'We're doing this because if we can't agree, then our body won't move at all.'
'Fine, I guess it is a dictatorship. What's the harm.'
Barry began walking towards them at a leisurely pace.
"Uh, what do we do?"
"Hold your positions! The golden lion knights of Seven will never give in!"
"Seriously, is that guy our resident cheerleader or something?"
"Focus less on that moron and more on the strongest mage I've ever seen walking towards us menacingly!"
It worked. Walking slowly towards them without care somehow worked, this was easy! Although, he wouldn't have been able to pull this off had he actually been weak.
They all fired again. Barry just kept on walking (he almost tripped though since most of their shots ripped up the ground), and eventually, he was only two meters away from the closest knight.
"Uh…hold your…positions?"
"Are you asking me that or telling me to do that?" Barry asked.
"Neither?"
"Not wrong, but no answer was gonna save you from this."
Barry kicked his chest, and he went flying backwards. Another guard engaged him, and all of a sudden, time seemed to slow down.
'Block the attacks with your finger.'
'Well, it worked for you and Goku, I guess.'
'Who on Earthland is that?'
'Someone you hopefully never have to meet.'
For his sake, really. As strong as he was, he doubted Acnologia stood a chance against the craziness of DBZ power levels. Seriously, one second they were blowing up planets with ease, the next, a stray ki blast from a godly character fails to destroy a mountain. Well, he could've been reborn there as someone like Frieza, Cell or Majin Buu, that would've been a wholly different ride.
Getting off-topic. (Also stories for later, what? I said nothing.)
Time resumed, and Barry did as instructed. He let the blow strike his finger, allowing a shockwave of force to blow his hair and cloak back slightly but keeping the spear there all the same. The knight looked Petrified, and Barry smiled before yanking the spear out of his hand and tossing it back so far it might have hit the city.
'It didn't hit the city did it?'
Ignoring that voice, Barry just decided to punch him in the gut lightly. Which made the knight keel over in pain as his armour crumpled into his stomach with an imprint of Barry's fist. The knight was out, and only one remained.
'I'm handling this.'
'Wait, what!?'
Barry felt his body begin to move on his own, and his mind began racing back to what happened just over twenty minutes earlier with Jellal (Yeah, that was only minutes ago.) He watched as Acnologia; the real Acnologia walked up to the man. He grabbed his armour-like it was a shirt and lifted him into the air; the iron crumpled around his fist like cloth.
"Run back to your precious city, and tell your leader that Acnologia has returned."
"What!? He's dead, though!"
"Are you going to make me repeat myself, human?"
"N-no! I'll tell him!"
"See it through; if you try anything, I won't hesitate to kill off your entire platoon. Now go!"
The guard ran off so fast a small cloud of dust formed behind him. Barry felt himself regain control.
'What was that!? You can just take control whenever now!? Hello!?'
The silence was all that greeted him.
Barry turned around to see the Diamond mage and Ninzi both staring at him in fear.
"Y-you, did you just say that you're Acnologia!?" Ninzi screamed out.
'Ah hell, you son of a bitch.'
Hi again, so new things! A new story (in the RWBy section, I had a plan for that but I'm not sure how well that'll work out)
Regarding this story though, I wanted to explore more of Ishgar since we never really get a chance to see it (minus Stella and mentions of Bosco, also I'm not sure if I'm right but I heard Gray came from Seven somewhere, I may be totally wrong tho).
There will be more stuff from the antagonists of this story, and we may just see Natsu and the gang soon!
