Tutoring Chapter 26
Percy leaned against the wall watching his friends and classmates dance on the dance floor. Somehow Travis and Connor had managed to convince him to come to their party. He wanted to go but he wasn't sure if he trusted himself, he knew what he was like when he drank, but Jason and Nico had promised to keep an eye on him telling him they'd get him out of there if things got to intense. Annabeth and Thalia had been in Oregon for two days and Percy was going insane. He was scared to admit it but he felt lonely without Annabeth nearby.
"Hey Percy" Rachel said batting her eye lashes at him "I got you a drink, thought you might want to relax a little now that your goody two-shoes girlfriend is on the either side of the country" she said handing him the red solo cup.
Percy rolled his eyes "No thanks Rachel, I don't really feel like drinking tonight".
Rachel scoffed "Since when do you not feel like drinking, you used to drink every weekend. You always said that was the best part of the week when you could party and drink all weekend".
"That isn't me anymore Rachel" Percy said right as his phone started ringing. Pulling it out of his pocket he saw it was Annabeth smiling he looked back up at Rachel "I gotta take this" he said moving away from her and towards the back door to head outside so he could talk to his girlfriend in some kind of privacy.
"Hello wise girl" Percy said smiling as he moved to sit in a lawn chair.
Annabeth laughed "Hi seaweed brain".
"How was U of O campus?" Percy asked.
"It was good, the track team here is amazing and really welcoming it was probably the best part of the tour, I mean this place is historic just being on the track was amazing. But the school really wasn't that interesting; their architecture program really isn't that great. Plus the weather here sucks; it's done nothing but rain for the two days we've been here. What have you been doing with yourself seaweed brain?" Annabeth asked.
"Hanging out with Nico and Grover mostly, although Travis and Connor somehow managed to drag me to their party" Percy said.
"Is that where you are now?" Annabeth asked.
"Yeah, although it's pretty boring here without you, there's no hot blonde to watch dance" Percy said with a grin.
Annabeth huffed "Seriously you're going to insult me by calling me a hot blonde".
"I wouldn't take it as in insult it's your boyfriend calling you hot, sexy, and beautiful" Percy said his smile getting bigger, knowing that she was most likely rolling her eyes right now.
"You do realize that isn't going to work right, I'm not that super fiscal Perce" Annabeth said.
"Yes I do realize that but I also want to tell my girlfriend that she's hot sexy and beautiful and that I don't like coming to these stupid parties without her because she isn't here to watch dance on the dance floor. Is that so bad wise girl?" Percy asked.
Annabeth sighed "No it's not but there's no reason to call me a hot blonde. But just so you know I don't like being at parties without you either".
Percy's eyes widened at her statement "Wait are you at a party right now?"
"Yeah some people from the track team invited us; I am currently sitting outside trying to hide from all the drunken idiots. And I really wanted to hear your voice" Annabeth said a little shyly.
"No one did anything to you did they because I swear to god I'll get on the next flight out there and beat their ass" Percy growled.
Annabeth laughed "No seaweed brain no one did anything. You know I'm not really into parties, I just wanted to see what you were doing, I hadn't talked to you all day".
"I missed you to wise girl I'm glad you called, just be safe alright" Percy said his fear slightly lessening.
"I'm always safe it's you that I should be reminding to be safe" Annabeth laughed.
"You don't have to worry about anything wise girl, I don't really feel like partying right now anyways, I think I'm going to call it a night" Percy said.
"Yeah me to it's getting late here, I should probably collect Thalia and head back to the hotel. I'll call you tomorrow seaweed brain" Annabeth said.
"Okay sleep tight wise girl" Percy said before hanging up the phone. Putting his phone back in his pocket Percy stared at the night sky.
Sighing Percy stood up from the lawn chair, and headed back inside where Nico and Jason were playing beer bong against Connor and Travis.
"Hey I'm gonna call it a night guys" Percy yelled to his cousins over the music.
"What, why?" Nico whined.
Percy shook his head "Just not feeling up to partying right now. I'll see you guys tomorrow night".
Jason smile knowingly at him "Alright see you later man".
Nico pouted at him "You're a buzz kill Perce" he said turning back to the game.
Rolling his eyes Percy headed for the front door, pushing through the crowd of people on the dance floor before finally making it out into the open again. Pulling out his phone he saw he had a text from Bianca asking him if he could pick her up from one of her friend's house, after replying back saying yes. Percy climbed in his car, loading the directions into his GPS.

"Hey Bee I'm here" Percy said into the phone as he sat in front of the brown two story house.
"Okay I'll be right out" Bianca said into the phone.
Ten minutes later Percy saw Bianca coming down the gravel pathway towards his car.
"Jeez took you long enough" Percy said as Bianca climbed into the car.
Bianca rolled her eyes "Whatever Perce, I thought you'd still be at the Stoll's party".
Percy shook his head as he pulled away from the curve "Nah, I didn't feel like partying".
Bianca smirked at him "You mean you didn't want to be there without Annabeth?"
"She had something to do with it. But I'm really not into the partying anymore, I really am trying to change" Percy said as he stopped at a red light.
Bianca smiled "I know you are Perce, and I can see the difference in you, you're becoming yourself again. I'm just hoping that it'll rub off on Nico. I know things are hard for him, they are for me to, but I can't stand seeing him drown himself in alcohol every night".
"I know Bee, and it's partly my fault. I should have never taken him to those parties with me after everything that happened" Percy said as the light turned green, waiting a couple of seconds Percy pushed on the gas pedal, moving forward.
"I don't blame you Perce" Bianca said right as a car ran the red light hitting the rear end of the passenger side of Percy's car. From the force of the hit, the car spun in a circle before coming to a stop.
"Uhhh" Percy groaned as he opened his eyes, one of them blurry with blood. "Bee? You okay?" he mumbled painfully turning his head to look at his cousin.
Bianca had a large head wound much like Percy's, but unlike him she was unconscious and not responding. Everything hurt as Percy tried to reach towards her to try and wake her, but his arm wasn't moving like he wanted it to. "Bianca wake up" he said as he heard the sirens in the distance. "Come on Bee wake up" he said as black dots danced in front of his eyes. Taking a shaky breath Percy turned his head towards the window where people were running towards the car to see if they were alright, moving to open the door he yelped in pain looking down at his stomach he saw a very large piece of glass sticking out of his stomach. Eyes widening at the sight he slowly felt himself grew dizzy as someone grabbed the door handle trying to open it, green eyes rolling into the back of his head Percy fainted into unconsciousness.

He was on a bed but he was also moving at the same time, everything was blurry and white as bright lights flashed in his eyes. But he could hear the voices coming from the voices he didn't recognize from the people above him "Get him into OR 2, quickly, he needs emergency surgery" someone said as they went through a pair of double doors.
Percy tried to speak but an air mask was covering his face and no matter how hard he tried he couldn't get his voice to work. Right as the doctors wheeled him into the OR Percy fell into unconsciousness once again.

Even though it was well past midnight Sally Jackson-Blofis was still up and typing furiously on her computer trying to finish the last chapter of the sequel to her first bestselling novel. She may have also been awake because her son had still not returned home, or called her telling her he was staying with one of his cousins. Sally knew exactly what he was up to and that every time in the past no matter what he always called and told her where he was going to be for the night, but as yet he hadn't done so, and she knew no matter what she would not be able to sleep until he called.
Tearing her eyes away from the computer screen she took a drink of her now cold tea, standing up to stretch her legs and to get a fresher cup of tea. Walking down the stairs she found her husband sitting at the kitchen table grading some tests.
"I thought you had gone to bed already" She said setting her hand on his shoulder.
Paul smiled up at her pushing his glasses up his nose "I thought that if I got these finished by tonight, then we could have all day tomorrow to ourselves. Go to a movie and dinner maybe" Paul said wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her into his lap.
Sally smiled "That sounds lovely, we haven't gone on an actual date since Christmas break".
"And that's exactly why I thought now would be a perfect time to go on one" Paul said kissing her cheek.
Sally kissed him lightly on the lips before standing up "I'm going to get a new cup of tea, do you want one?"
Paul shook his head "No thanks".
Sally just smiled as she stepped into the kitchen. She had just put the kettle onto the stove when her phone rang.
"Hello" she said into the phone.
"Is this Sally Jackson?" the person on the other end of the line said.
Sally frowned "Yes, who is this?" she asked.
"I'm nurse Casey, I'm sorry to have to tell you this over the phone but your son Perseus Jackson was in a car accident earlier this evening, he was admitted into Harlem Hospital Center he's in emergency surgery as we speak" the nurse said solemnly.
Sally's eyes widened as she dropped the phone sending it crashing to the floor.
"Sally are you alright?" Paul said coming into the kitchen. Seeing her pale fearful stricken face Paul asked "What happened?"
"Percy….. he …..he was in a car accident" Sally said the tears springing to her eyes, right as the kettle started steaming. Quickly moving towards the stove Percy removed the kettle turning off the stove.
Taking Sally's hands in his he spoke "Did they say where?"
"Harlem Hospital center" Sally said "He's in emergency surgery".
"Let's go" Paul said grabbing his keys off the counter and moving towards the door pulling a fear stricken Sally along with him.
