I woke up next to my goddess, still asleep. The events of yesterday came to mind. My passage to level 2. My discussion with Freya, then Amaterasu's declaration. We can say that yesterday was a day full of emotions.
I managed to dissuade Freya from forcing me to join her Familia, at least for now. I got up from my bed, being careful not to wake Lady Amaterasu. Today is one of those days off at work. So I'll let her sleep.
I need to reflect more on my feelings for Lady Amaterasu, but also on those, I have for the other female members of my Familia. Because I think the feelings I have for Lady Amaterasu are similar to those I feel for other girls.
Once awake, I walk over to Guts, who is in the living room. I could see he was getting ready to leave, so we could go to the Dungeon. We decided to skip the morning training today and go straight to the dungeon.
"I must say we were lucky, that everything went well yesterday." I told him, settling down on the couch across from him.
"It's true, but we still end up having a War Game. And this, with the most powerful Familia in the city." He answers me, but I smile at him.
"Imagine what we will get by beating this Familia. I have to say I avoided this fight as much as I was excited to see it happen. Because it will be a fun adventure for sure. We just need to progress." I answer him. And I can see he's smiling back at me.
"It's true, it's a good fight in perspective." After that, we finished preparing. I equipped myself with my armor and my new weapons. We left, and I did not forget to take the Salamander Wool. That Rory and I bought the day before.
I had told the girl to join us at the entrance to the dungeon. When we got to the square, I could see the girls were waiting for us. So we approached. Once regrouped, I decided to speak to the group. Because the middle floors are much more dangerous than the upper floors. So we had to be more careful.
"Okay, now that we're all here, I'll be able to start. We are heading towards the thirteenth floor, we must be on our guard at all times. Yesterday Rory and I bought Salamander Wool for everyone. It was a big expense, but it could save our lives."
So I distributed the Wool, so we all got equipped with our Woll.
"These furs should be able to protect us, especially from the Hellhound flames. When we are on the middle floors, I want us to stay together. Monsters will spawn more frequently and in greater numbers. From what I have heard from adventurers who have already been to these floors. It could be that they are looking to separate us and surround us. So that they can eliminate us one by one So we stay together. You all got it." Once I saw they all nodded. We started heading towards the dungeon.
Our descent to the upper floors was rather easy. I had seen this before in training. But the increase in power by leveling is great. It is even more blatant against monsters. I haven't used my magic yet, I'm waiting to be on the middle floors, to demonstrate to my Familia. Because I still had not shown them. I didn't want shadows of, level one monsters, after all.
"Those floors aren't even a challenge for you now, Ashborn." Yuuki told me, as we were on the twelfth floor. We had just finished a group of monsters and we're currently collecting the stones. The stairs to the thirteenth floor weren't very far.
"It's true, but that's no reason not to be vigilant. We are in the dungeon, it is the territory of the monsters do not forget it." I answer her.
"Don't worry Ashborn, we'll be careful." I hear Emilia tell me. And I smile at her to be understanding. Rory is stuck to me before saying.
"But I have to say that to see you killing monsters like this, I find you impressive, Captain." She told me with her teasing voice and her iconic smile. I'm used to her sticking to me. But I still couldn't prevent a blush on my cheeks. After we finished picking up the stones, we continued on our way to the thirteenth floor.
So we got to the stairs leading up to it. I turned to my Familia again. "Remember what we discussed when we entered the dungeon." I see everyone looked like they got it, so we walked down the stairs.
So we finally got to the thirteenth floor. The first thing I noticed was that the air had become humid. And the brightness had gone down. The walls, floor, and ceiling were made of rock. And as we explored this floor, we could see, that this floor had a more complex layout.
And then we came across the first monsters on the middle floors. I could see that there were 4 Hellhounds and about 20 Almiraj. So I gave my orders.
"Guts and I take care of the dogs. Stay together and take care of the rabbits." I did not bring out the shadow of the Infant Dragon, because I wanted to see how we fared, facing monsters in the middle levels.
I unsheathed my scythes, and I charged on the first dog. I could see that the other members of my Familia were moving. Guts loaded with me on the dogs. Emilia spawned weapons of ice, to be thrown at the rabbits. Yuuki and Rory were with her in support.
The Hellhounds, seeing us approaching them, attacked us with their flames. I managed to dodge while continuing to race towards them. I could see that Guts had dodged too. Their flames were hot, but compared to those of the Infant Dragon, it wasn't much.
I managed to reach the first one, once close to it, I was able to cut it with ease. It is therefore transformed into black dust. Two others approached me, they tried to bite me, one in the calf, and the other in the arm with which I had just killed the first Hellhound.
These monsters weren't fast enough, so I was able to dodge them. The monsters on this floor had the same power as those on the twelfth floor. Once dodged, I got rid of them. I turned to see Guts, cut out two of the last Hellhound.
I watched how the girls were doing, I could see that about ten of the rabbits had been impaled by ice weapons. Yuuki and Rory had managed to take care of the others. I was about to pick up the stones. When we saw another group of Hellhounds surrounding us. There were 9 of them. This was the difference between the middle floors, compared to the upper floors. The monsters attacked us relentlessly.
So I think it's time to use my magic. My shadow started to grow behind me, and out of my great shadow came the Infant Dragon. I could see that the surprise was on the faces of the members of my Familia.
"This is the magic I got from leveling up. I will explain in detail, once we deal with them." I told them, and so we charged the monsters around us.
Twilight Manor
In the office of the captain of the Loki Familia. We could find the executives of the Loki Familia and their goddess.
"There is a rumor in town. Apparently, Freya has her sights set on the new level-up record holder. While he having a party with his Familia, at the Hostess of Fertility. Ottar would have taken him to meet his goddess." Gareth said.
"I think you can say that chances are he's already joined the Freya Familia. If it's really Ottar, who took him to his goddess." Finn adds to think about this situation.
"She can't help herself, when she sees an adventurer she's interested in, she can't help wanting him. It's a habit with this collector of people." Loki adds.
"From what I heard, this adventurer did not join the Freya Familia. As far as I know, he left to explore the dungeon with his Familia this morning, as usual." Riveria adds to the surprise of the others.
"Are you sure about this information, Riveria?" Finn asks. And he got a positive nod.
"It's weird, I can't see Freya sending Ottar, just to have a conversation with him. There is something that is not." Loki said.
"Maybe he refused." Gareth offered. He knew it might sound silly. Because Freya wouldn't take no for an answer if she really wanted this person in her Familia. And the fact that Ottar is sent to invite him, proves it.
"You know Freya wouldn't take no for an answer," Riveria says the obvious. And they have all reflected on this situation. But they had found no reason, why Freya would have invited him to meet her in person, if not for the invite him in her Familia.
"Well, I would ask her the next time I see her. Or if you cross paths with this adventurer, you can ask him directly." Loki said to her Familia executives.
"From what I've heard, the Amaterasu Familia is often at the Hostess of Fertility. Chances are, we'll meet them one day." Gareth said closing this conversation.
POV Ashborn
We had managed to have a few moments of peace after we had finished defeating the second group of monsters. We took advantage of these moments to collect the stones from the monsters and so I explained to them the effects of my magic.
"My magic is magic that allows me to summon the dead, in the form of shadows. I extracted the shadow of the Infant Dragon from his magic stone." I told them. I could see the surprise on their faces.
"So you can extract the shadow of the monsters from their magic stone?" It is Yuuki who asks me. I nod in the affirmative. And I decided to give him a demonstration. I collected five stones that I know are from Hellhound.
"Arise" I speak. I could see Hellhound shadows starting to form stones. After a few seconds, I saw five Hellhound shadows in front of me. Ready to respond to my orders.
"When I no longer need my shadows, they are stored in the mine." To demonstrate to them, all the shadows returned to mine. And so I had finished my presentation.
"There are still things I don't know about this magic, but that's what it does in general terms. It's my magic, Shadow Monarch." I told them, awaiting their response.
"So can you make a shadow army?" Emilia asks me.
"No, for now, I can say I'm limited to twenty shadows." I answer her. The others did not have time to ask their question, because we could hear another group of monsters approaching.
"Well, you can save your questions for later. It looks like another group is approaching. All in position." I told them, and so we moved on to our next fight.
We are done for today, and we were on our way up. We are well advanced in our exploration of the thirteenth floor. I also did some research on my magic. The first thing I noticed was that I couldn't release a shadow. Once I pulled one out, it stayed with me. It's a flaw that Jin-Woo didn't have.
My shadow army currently consisted of one Infant Dragon and five Hellhounds. It was a good start but because of my discovery. I will reserve the remaining places for level 2 monsters.
I think I'll find other flaws that the original ability didn't have. But even with these flaws. My magic remains powerful magic. One that would be useful to me. So we came back to the surface. Once on the surface, we exchanged our magic stones. We have once again managed to raise a good amount of money. 34,000 Valis this time.
So we headed for Lady Amaterasu's house. We discussed this first day on the middle floors.
"We did well, for our first time in the middle floors. There were a few moments where we were almost overwhelmed. But thanks to my magic, we got away with it easily." I said as we walked the streets of Orario.
"I must say that you have obtained powerful magic, captain." Rory tells me and I nod.
"It's true, but I could observe another flaw. My shadows are less powerful than the originals. My Infant Dragon was weaker than I remember when I fought him. I thought it was an impression because I had leveled up. But I noticed the same with my Hellhounds. I would say my dragon is between a level one and level two monster." I told them my suspicions about my magic.
"But even with these drawbacks, I still find it incredible magic." Yuuki exclaims happily to me, and I give her a smile in response.
"I agree with you, but it also comes with risks. I must have used my magic, to regenerate my shadows. At the moment I have a rather low reserve of magic. I risk mind down if I abuse the regeneration of my shadows. So I have to be careful with my magic." I confess to them.
"He'd rather you use your shadows on monsters that are weaker than they are. That way, the shadows won't have to rely on their regeneration. And so you can save your magic." Guts speak, thinks about the best way to use my magic.
"That's what I had thought, better that I keep them for either support or against weak monsters." I answer him.
We continued on our way to our home. I don't know if it's me, but I think I'm getting even more attention than before. And I think I could see the reason. After all, last night, the most powerful adventurer in town, came to me directly to offer me a meeting with his goddess.
We finally got to our house. As usual, Lady Amaterasu could be waiting for us in the living room. We settled in, then one by one, we went to update our status, in our goddess's room. I went first, I settled in my goddess bed on my stomach.
"So, how was that first day on the middle floors?" She asks me, curiosity in her tone. But I could also hear worry.
"We managed to get out of it. It would have been more complicated without my magic, but I'm okay with that we would have made it out anyway. I think all members are progressing well." I answer her, giving her my impression of the day.
"Well, I'm glad it all went well." She paused, if I had turned around then I would have seen a blush on her face. "I wanted to talk about what happened last night in your room." When this subject was brought up, I could also feel my cheeks warming up.
"You said, that you weren't sure how you felt about me, but that you thought they were the same as mine. I wanted to know if you could have thought about it today." She asks me.
"I'm sorry, but with exploring the dungeon, I didn't have time. Let me think about it a little longer, please." I ask her, meanwhile, she was updating my status. I felt her put a sheet on my back.
"Alright, I'll give you all the time you need, Ashborn." She tells me and pulls away from my back. So I sat down, and she handed me the sheet. And so I was able to observe my status.

"Your progress is still so fast. I have to say your skill is really amazing, Ashborn." Lady Amaterasu tells me.
"I cannot disagree with you on this point." I told her as I left the room. After that, it was the turn of the others to update their status. Once this was done, I observed all the status sheets of the other members. I wanted to see their progress.

"It's true that my skill is useful. But it is also thanks to your efforts that you progress so quickly. My skill only gives a little push." I told them, smiling at them before continuing.
"Well, I think it's time for the girls to come home. After all, we still have to explore the dungeon tomorrow. I'll take you home." I get up after finishing my sentence. And the girls quickly followed me.
"I'll be home soon, Lady Amaterasu." After that, I walked the girls back to Yuuki's house. I took the opportunity on the way to reflect on my situation with Lady Amaterasu. My feelings towards my goddess. I had never been in love in my previous life.
But I think I can say these feelings are love. But the problem is, I have similar feelings towards the three girls I was driving home. I don't know how I got into such a situation. The girls must have seen that I was on my mind because Emilia asked me a question.
"Are you okay, Ashborn? You've been silent for a while." She asks me, and I could see the concern in those amethyst eyes. I looked at her for a moment before sighing. I don't know how it's gonna be. But I decide to tell them the truth.
"Last night Lady Amaterasu confessed to having feelings for me." I said, I could see they looked surprised. But less than I would have thought.
" You knew it?" I ask them.
"I think we suspected it a bit." Rory answers me. And I sighed even more at that answer. Because that meant it was a little obvious to notice, but I was too dumb to see it.
"And what did you answer her?" It was Yuuki asking me. And I had their full attention on me. They clearly wanted to know what I was going to say.
"I told her, that I think I feel the same about her." I told them, I could observe a look of disappointment on their faces. I've been an idiot once before, with Lady Amaterasu. maybe I'm wrong. But I can't help but tell myself that they too might have feelings for me. At the sight of their reaction, at my admission of my feelings for Lady Amaterasu. I feel like a character in an anime with a harem. Afterward, I am in an anime world, with a protagonist who has a lot of girls fall in love with him. I guess that's the norm here. I decide to confess to them, what I feel towards them.
"But to answer the question of why I was silent. It's that I believe, that I have similar feelings towards you too." I confess to them, and this time. I could see a real surprise on their faces. We had finally arrived in front of their house.
"I know that what I have just confessed to you may sound presumptuous. To say that I have feelings for each of you. I think I'll think about it tonight, and we'll talk more about it tomorrow." I told them, and after saying goodbye. I came home.
Once back home. I walked to my room. Lady Amaterasu was waiting for me on my bed. I sat down next to her. I wanted to talk to her about what I told the girls.
"Lady Amaterasu, I have to confess something to you." I told her. Once I got her full attention, I started talking.
"I have thought about how I feel about you, Lady Amaterasu. I feel the same for you, that you feel on me." I could see her smile at me. But seeing that I did not share his joy. She must have said to herself that I had something else to say.
"I must confess something else to you, Lady Amaterasu. I indeed have feelings for you, but I think I have feelings for Yuuki, Emilia, and Rory." I confess to her, being able to tell when I'm lying, she knows I'm telling the truth. I looked down, not wanting to look at her.
POV Amaterasu
I have to say, I've never been happier when he confessed these feelings to me, but when I saw that he wasn't sharing my smile, I suspected something was wrong. But I did not expect this revelation. He would have feelings for the other girls.
I cannot say that I am completely surprised. I could tell from the looks he was sending them, but to hear it from his mouth. I'm not sure what to think. Yesterday I realized how much I felt for him, learning that it was mutual was wonderful. But I also realize that my daughters had feelings for him.
"I don't know, how this situation will develop, Lady Amaterasu. What I know is that I think is that girls have feelings for me. I don't want to cause them grief." He told me, and I couldn't help but agree with him.
I couldn't feel good about my relationship with Ashborn knowing that my children are sad and in pain because of it. I will be a shame as a goddess if I did something like that. I turned to him.
"I wouldn't ask you to choose, Ashborn. I think I too need some time to think about this situation. I'll leave you for tonight." I tell him, so I head to my room. I just hear him say it before I leave the room.
"Thank you for your understanding Lady Amaterasu. Good night." I give him a smile
"Good night to you too, Ashborn." After these words, I went to my room. I have to find a solution, and for this, I have to talk to the other girls. So I fell asleep on these thoughts.
Yuuki house
You could see the three girls were in the living room. She looked like she wanted to chat, but neither of them wanted to start. But finally, Rory has had enough of the silence, began the discussion.
"We need to discuss this situation with Ashborn." She said, getting right into the subject.
"He said he had feelings for all of us. And also for Lady Amaterasu. But Lady Amaterasu was the first to tell Ashborn her feelings." Emilia said.
"It's true, but I also have a feeling for Ashborn. He found people to call my friends, and he's been a big help in my personal life too. He taught me to live my life for me." Yuuki told them, and Emilia followed.
"He was one of the few people who never judged me because of my resemblance to Satella. And thanks to him now, I can live a life as an adventurer. With people who think of me as a normal person." She added, revealing in turn how she felt for Ashborn.
"I was interested in it the moment I saw him. I think we should discuss this with Lady Amaterasu. After all, she has known Ashborn the longest." Rory said, and the others nodded. Rory didn't like having to ask her goddess, she knows she often sleeps in the same bed as Ashborn. And she won't admit it, but she's jealous. So they all left for their rooms. And the day is over like this.
One day later
One day has passed, the Amaterasu Familia was returning from their day in the dungeon. We all agreed that there was tension between the girls and Ashborn. They did not let that, prevent them from doing as usual in the dungeon. We must always remain on these guards.
So they arrived at Lady Amaterasu's house. After everyone is done updating their status. The girls asked their goddess if they could talk in private with her. Amaterasu wanted to talk to them too. So they moved into Lady Amaterasu's room.
"It looks like something is going on." Guts told his captain as they both stayed in the living room.
"I think I'm the source of all of this." Ashborn answers him.
"You look like you're in a complicated situation right now. You managed to hide it pretty well, but I could see you are distracted today." Guts answered him.
" You are right." That is the only response he got from Ashborn.
We were able to find the three daughters of the Amaterasu Familia and their goddess in her room. It was the goddess who spoke first.
"I wanted to tell you, Ashborn told me about what happened yesterday. That he confessed these feelings to you. If what I think is correct, you also have feelings for him. To tell you the truth, I would feel bad to be in a relationship with Ashborn, if it hurts some of my children." She told them to confess. None of them contradicted their goddess, about having feelings for Ashborn.
"I've been thinking about this since yesterday, after my discussion with Ashborn. I think I have found a solution so that we can get everything we want. We could share Ashborn." She tells them, the other girls were amazed by her proposal.
"Would we be in a relationship with him, all at the same time?" Emilia asked if she understood what her goddess was up to.
"I have to admit that I don't like the idea too much, but I can see your think." Rory spoke.
"I don't think Ashborn would choose to be in a relationship with one of us if he knew it would hurt the others. He is like our goddess on this point." Yuuki speaks.
The room was silent for a few minutes. They were all thinking about this proposal from Lady Amaterasu. Then after those few moments, they all looked at each other, and they nodded in agreement.
POV Ashborn
I was still in the living room with Guts, when the girls invited me to join them. I was sitting in the bed, and they were all standing in front of me, looking at me. Lady Amaterasu started it.
"We agreed. We decided we all wanted to be in a relationship with you. Even if for that, we will have to share you." She announces to me, I must say I was surprised. And I looked at the other girls, to see their reaction. I could see that they were all serious.
"Are you sure that's what you want?" I ask them.
"The solution we have agreed is the best." Yuuki told me.
"We know that you would never date one of us if that means making others suffer." Emilia added.
"Lady Amaterasu came with this proposal, we all chose to accept it." Rory finishes.
I became the protagonist of a harem story. I can't say, that I don't like the idea. After all, what man would refuse a relationship like this? All the girls I have feelings for loving me enough to share me. I don't think I deserve such a thing.
"If you're really sure about that decision. I am happy to be able to fully live my love for you. I love all of you." They all blushed at my words. After this, we returned to the living room. We explained the situation to Guts.
He was surprised by this news but told us he expected something to happen anyway. He had noticed how I looked at the girls, and how they looked at me. The evening it passed thus. And then the girls had to leave for their homes.
"See you tomorrow Ashborn." Rory told me, I was about to say goodbye back to her. But she grabbed my collar, and she tiptoed to kiss me. The kiss lasted a few seconds, then she moves away. I looked at her and could see her smile at me.
Then I could see Emilia approaching me. She had a deep blush on her face. She bent over, and she kissed me in turn. Then she moved away. "See you tomorrow Ashborn."
And finally, Yuuki is also approaching kissing me. At this point, I was completely lost. she moved away too. I saw her beaming smile, as she smiled at me afterward. "See you tomorrow, Ashborn."
After that, she left. I stood at the door of the house for a few minutes. Wondering what just happened. Hearing a chuckle behind me, I turned to see My Goddess.
When she saw that I was looking at her, she spoke to me. "Sorry, but you should see your face." She said to me, I composed myself and left for my room. Lady Amaterasu joined me shortly after. She is installed next to me, in my bed.
"I wanted to tell you, thank you. Thanks for finding a solution, Lady Amaterasu." I told her, as I hugged her.
"It's okay, I couldn't have lived happily with you too. Knowing that my children would suffer." She answers me.
"That's why you are the goddess I chose. The day I met you. I was truly the luckiest person." I told her, and then we fell asleep again, in each other's arms. And so the day is over.
1 month later.
The day had finally come. Today took place the Denatus which takes place every three months. And it is to this event that I would be assigned my alias, my second name. I wondered what I was going to get.
Tonight we will be celebrating the fact that I got my alias. Hoping it doesn't end like the last time.
"I'll try to get you a good second name, Ashborn." Lady Amaterasu told me, as she was about to leave.
"I trust you Lady Amaterasu." I answer her, and she left. The members of my Familia and myself, stay in the living room, waiting for our goddess to come back. Then we'll go to the party.
Things have happened during this month. First, a week after I leveled up. The guild posted an alert like what. New shadow monsters had started to appear on the middle floors.
With this description, I knew I was surely behind this alert. I hesitated for a long time, before telling the truth about these shadows. But I couldn't let all the Familias and the guild start tracking my shadows. It would have been a problem.
So I went to the guild and told the truth. Or at least the strict minimum for them to stop their hunt. I told them that these shadows were the effect of one of my magic and that they should not be tracked.
Many questions were asked to me afterward, about this magic. But I didn't respond to virtually any. But I still had to demonstrate my magic to the senior members of the guild. For proving them that these shadows are mine.
My relationship with the girls has gone well so far. I took time alone with each of them. We had succeeded in making this relationship work.
POV Amaterasu
I was heading towards the place where the Denatus was going to take place. I then saw Demeter waiting for me on the road.
"Hi Demeter, how was your day." I ask her, approaching her.
" For now, everything is okay. then your child will have his Alias today." She answers me.
"Yeah, I'm going to have to do my best, to get him the best I can." I tell her.
"I wish you good luck." And when she finished speaking, we heard another person approach.
"Hello Demeter, Amaterasu." I was able to recognize that voice right away. It belonged to the woman, who had tried to steal a member of my Familia.
"Hello too, Freya." Demeter answered her. And I followed, trying to hide my hostility in my tone.
"Freya." I think I would have done well on any other god or goddess, but not her. She just smiled back at me.
"Freya!" We heard another voice shout. And then we saw approached another goddess who is well known in Orario.
"Here, Loki." Loki appeared next to us.
"It's rare to see you come to the Denatus, Freya. I don't think any member of your Familia has leveled up in the past three months." Loki asks her.
"Indeed, but maybe something interesting will happen." She answers her. She nods back. Then she turned her head towards me.
"Amaterasu, it's been a while since we've seen each other." She tells me.
"Indeed Loki, the last time was before you left for the underworld." I answer her, if I remember correctly, she had tried to play a trick on me. I never had a bad relationship with Loki. But she could be annoying sometimes.
"I heard, you found a good person for your first child. And that he would have his second name today." She asks me, and when she talks about Ashborn being a good person. I can't stop the smile from appearing on my face.
"Indeed, I was lucky. But if you ask him, he will say that it was the one who was lucky that day. And I also have other incredible children." I answer, proud to speak about my children.
"Wow, I don't remember when was the last time. I saw so much emotion on your face." Loki answers me.
"That's what I think about every day since she met Ashborn. It's crazy love between them." Demeter told them. And I don't think I was able to hide my blush. So I decided to go to the Denatus. I could hear Demeter chuckling, as she followed me.
"See you next time, Loki, Freya." I said, leaving. And when Demeter and I walked away, I told her.
"You had to say that."
"I don't regret it, your reaction was so cute." She says. Demeter could also be annoying when she wanted to.
We finally got to the door where the Denatus was going to take place. I had to find a good name for Ashborn. To thank him for everything he did for me. Let's go. And so I opened the door.
POV Ashborn
We have been waiting for some hours for the return of our goddess from Denatus. And it has finally arrived. We were all in the living room. While waiting to find out what second name I got.
"So how did it go?" I ask her.
"Good, even though Freya has come. I'm happy with the second name I found for you." She left a few seconds of suspense before announcing it.
"Ashborn, now your second name is Umbra."
AN: Already, sorry for the wait. This chapter was complicated to write. Most notably, brought the harem into history. I'm still not very happy with how it's turned out, but that's what I decided to focus on. I think Umbra is a good Alias, I can't give him the Shadow Monarch yet because I don't think he would give such a title at a level 2. But that will be his alias when the cannon starts. Shadow monarch magic, will not be as powerful as that of sung Jin-Woo. this magic will be used just to face the great numbers of the great Familias. it remains powerful magic, but if it was the same as that of Jin-Woo. it would become too easy.
