Chapter XXXX - The Hound

Alyssa POV

The aftermath of the Brotherhood selling Gendry has been chaotic for them. During their trip from King's Landing to Harrenhal to here, Gendry has been very close to them. Alyssa knew her father was upset, because Gendry was his best friend's son. Bastard or not, her father was still upset. As for Arya, for some reason, she is more upset then their father. Despite Beric assuring them that it is the Lord of Light's will for Gendry to be giving to Stannis Baratheon, Alyssa was sure that they are only doing it for gold.

Alyssa and Arya watched as their father argued with Beric Dondarrion about Gendry's situation. Their father kept yelling that Gendry is Robert's son, while the Brotherhood argued that just because Gendry is Robert's son, that doesn't mean that he is welcomed in their hearth, because the lives of the smallfolks seemed much more important than a life of a bastard. Beric made a move to subdue her father, but her father used the blade of the sword to knock Beric out and yelled, "Alyssa! Arya! Run!"

Alyssa quickly grabbed Arya's hand and they quickly exited the cave. Sooner, their father came out, holding a knife, as they all ran out of the cave. They hid behind a tree, fearing that the Brotherhood would try to find them, but no sound came out of the cave. Suddenly, Alyssa felt someone clamping her mouth, she made a noise but a familiar voice said, "Keep kicking me Wolf girl, won't do you no good."

"Let her go." Arya yelled kicking the Hound who just took out a knife and held it near Alyssa's throat. Alyssa gasped and the Hound sneered, "The two of you, follow me, or I'll slit her throat."

Having no choice, Ned grabbed Arya's hand as the Hound took Alyssa, and they followed the Hound out.

Riverlands

They woke up and Arya was about to kill the Hound, but they all stopped her. They travelled around the Riverlands, with two horses. Sometimes, the Hound will take Alyssa on his horse, and sometimes Arya, while Ned will ride on his own horse. This is to stop Ned doing anything funny, so in case he tries to escape with Alyssa and Arya. Today, it was Arya who was on the horse.

"The three of you are lucky, you don't want to be here all alone." The Hound said as he ate an apple.

"Lucky?" Alyssa asked bewildered. "You're kidnapping us, and you are telling us we're lucky."

"Yes, you're lucky." The Hound snapped. "You don't know my brother do you? He once killed a man for snoring."

"Gregor Clegane is a monster." Ned Stark spat. "He should be killed."

"I agree." The Hound said grimly as he thought about his own scar at his face. How when he was young, he played with Gregor's toy. When Gregor found him, he shoved the side of Sandor's face into the burning coals of a brazier and held him there while he screamed, until three grown men were able to drag him off. The Cleganes' maester attempted to heal the burns with ointments. Sandor's father explained the burns by claiming that his bedding caught fire. His father always like Gregor more, but at the end, Gregor killed him.

"Is that the Blackwater Bay?" Arya asked, as she was in front of them.

"Please." Ned pleaded. "If you take us to the Riverrun, you'll have as much gold you want, you'll have more if you free my daughter Sansa."

"I tried at the Battle of Blackwater Bay, but your daughter refuse to listen." The Hound said grimly. Damn you Sansa! Alyssa thought, but she felt if she was in Sansa's position, she wouldn't go with the Hound. "Anyway, this is not Blackwater Bay, this is the Red Fork."

"Thank you for taking us to the Riverrun." Ned said delighted and relieved.

"I'm not taking you to Riverrun, I'm taking you to the Twins." The Hound snapped.

"Why?" Alyssa asked, wondering what sort of traps the Lannisters would have at the Twins.

"The outlaws you all love so much never told you?" The Hound laughed and Alyssa felt annoyed. "Your uncle Edmure is marrying a Frey girl at the Twins, I'm bringing them a wedding present."

Alyssa and Arya smiled at the thought of seeing their mother and Robb again, and once they get Sansa back, they'll be a family, though not as perfect as before, with Bran and Rickon gone. They didn't see their father's face who grown pale a bit. Ned Stark knew his good brother, Edmure Tully, would never want to marry any of Walder Frey's descendants. Something must have happened, something must have happened that made the Starks needs to rely on the Freys so much. Ned quickly ordered his horse to go quicker.

The Twins

In order to get to the Twins, they need to have a cover to allow them. The Freys wouldn't allow three nobodies to get into the Twins, they have to have a cover. They spotted an old man pulling a wagon, he was a hog farmer and was here to deliver food to the Twins. However, the wheels on his wagon had broken off and now he was trying to fix it. The Hound dismounted from his horse and pulled Arya down, giving Ned and Alyssa a warning glare that if they try anything, he will kill Arya. After all, the Hound couldn't have Alyssa and Ned and Arya run to the Twins where the Hound wouldn't get his reward.

"Remember what happens to children who run." The Hound said in a deep voice. "I'm your father and I'll do the talking."

Arya glared at the Hound who moved to the hog farmer. The Hound helped the hog farmer to lift his wagon up, where the farmer was able to fix his wheel. However, the Hound knocked away the man's head and pulled out his knife.

"NO!" Ned, Alyssa and Arya yelled in horror. Ned and Alyssa quickly dismounted from the horse as Arya rushed in front of the Hound.

"You can't kill him." Arya said.

"Dead mouse don't squeak." The Hound sneered.

"He's innocent, he's done nothing wrong." Ned said.

"If you kill him, then you are not better than your brother." Alyssa said and Ned gasped in horror as Alyssa said that, especially seeing the Hound's murderous look who was itching not to kill Alyssa. The Hound huffed and when the Hog farmer woke up, Arya immediately grabbed a branch and knock him out. They took the wagon away, and Alyssa had half expected her father to say that, it is stealing. But like the rest of them, he always wanted to get to the Twins.

They arrived at the Twins and Alyssa looked at it in awe. The Twins consist of two identical stone castles standing on a margin of the Green Fork of the Trident with a long bridge connecting them with water towers around. Due to the strategic position of the castle, House Frey prospered in the wealth, demanding payment for anyone who wishes to cross the bridge. House Frey was only founded six hundred years ago, and many other houses called the Freys upstarts and toll collectors. No wonder, Walder Frey had always seeked to marry his brood to upper houses. Before the Dance of the Dragon, one of the Freys who was mocked as Fool Frey, asked for Princess Rhaenyra's hand in marriage, as King Viserys I has declared his daughter from his first marriage as his heir.
