"So, you are saying that this jim-jam's gonna work for me?"
Izuku had just completed explaining the third-year student about his quirk and the one he intends to pass onto him. He was devastated to look at the bitter husk of a body of his senpai, the burn marks, if he were being honest with himself, it kind of reminded him of Melissa. Both quirks have such a terrible drawback on the wielder. Though what he found incredibly intriguing about the said student was his mysterious persona. Like how he referred to himself as 'Dabi', which is probably related to his quirk 'Cremation'. A quirk with such fire-power, Izuku could feel his All for One's metaphorical mouth watering at such a rare and magnificent individuality.
Cremation still had some differences that One for All didn't, both the quirks damaged the user but with the latter, output could be controlled to minimize injury, while in terms of Cremation it's either all or nothing.
He had gathered this and much more information about Dabi's quirk, which was a little weird as the guy had no trouble in explaining his wonder quirk but if you ask something about his personal life, he portrayed himself as a blank wall.
The burned-up teen was stunned at the revelation of Izuku's quirk, he brought up the fact that there was a myth in quirk mythology that such a power existed at the dawn of quirks, that the power was 'cursed' and the person who wielded it became the Dark Lord of that time.
The other people present in the room knew exactly as to whom he was talking about, but they kept their mouth shut for the time being.
So now, after a thorough explanation of Izuku's quirk and some mumbling about Dabi's power, they were ready for the transfer. The teen had been pre-informed to not get his hopes up as the quirk might not be able to heal older injuries and marks, to which the boy shrugged.
Izuku was a little put-off to see the close-ness Dabi and Uncle Nedzu shared, it was as if they were a family, kind of like how everyone treated Izuku all these years, the greenette and his father were sitting in front of Nedzu who was resting in an over-sized chair while Dabi sat beside the highly intelligent animal, in an equally over-sized chair.
The quirk-giver moved from his position after getting the green light from Nedzu towards the ragged teen, he extended his hand and the other teen followed. After the shake Dabi sensed something flow into him, like a cold breeze that made his burnt skin shudder.
The continuous burning sensation faded away like it was never there, he looked all over his body to see that the burns were still present but the constant pain was gone.
Then Dabi presented Nedzu with something no one had ever seen on him.
A smile.
Not a witty smirk or an evil grin, just a happy, grateful smile.
"M-Much appreciated Midoriya..." the older teen felt like crying at the moment but he physically couldn't, so in a low voice he whispered to Nedzu. "T-Thank you N-Nedzu-san, for everything... I better get myself checked out by the old lady-" with that comment he was out of the room in a flash.
Aizawa noticed the satisfaction spreading on the kid's face, the boy had such potential, if someone had suffered the hardships, they wouldn't think twice before running down the path of villainy, but the kid had resolve, a goal in mind that he had to achieve. He just wants to help those in need, even if they don't show it. Watching Dabi's smile brightened Shouta's day in a blink, it reminded him of the moment when he first told Izuku that he'd adopt him, or the first time Izuku called him dad, or the time when Izuku made him a father's day card, or the immeasurable joy that he brought into his life or- you get the idea.
"He deserved this, you did great Young Izuku, I'll check on him. You two are dismissed, enjoy your last holiday Izuku!"
"Yes Uncle Nedzu. I am happy I could help!"
Once Izuku was out of the room, Nedzu stated to Aizawa who was on his way to teach the class "Let Dabi have the rest of the day off, he can finally rest for a bit."
"Yeah… he should."
Melissa was really frustrated at the moment, she was having mixed feelings for the resident part-greenette, she was sad for the fact that another potential solution for Izuku's deteriorating body didn't work out, she was mad at him for falling into some other lady's breasts and she was jealous as because of sudden developments and the awkwardness. Izuku had grown closer to Sekigai even more than he was before it, she was happy that Izuku was relatively unscathed.
She just wanted to get it out in the open, after the hospital visit she was almost 100% sure that the feeling was mutual and after that kiss 'Oh, that kiss!' things were looking up for both of them, so taking a leap of faith, Melissa was moving downstairs to find him and confess everything once and for all.
The blue-eyed blonde sprinted down the flight of stairs only to find Izuku leaning over the shelf and having a conversation with Mina, she resisted the urge to tackle him, grabbed his collar and take him out of the dorms.
"H-Hey Melissa."
Izuku muttered as he stood before the 9th user of One for All. He was writing down information about a certain Pinkette's quirk when she dragged him out, after receiving no reply from the blonde, Izuku tried to fade out the awkwardness by informing her about the quirk-updates.
"S-So... I gave that Regeneration quirk to a third year stu-"
"Shut it, Izuku."
"O-Okay?"
"Why are you being this awkward when talking to me, we were the best buds until…. the battle trial and now? I feel like I can't even talk to you anymore, there's just so much I want to tell you and you have made a fake wall, like you're keeping me at an arm's distance, WHY!?"
Izuku sighed in defeat, he knew this would come up sooner or later "I know, and I am sorry, it's just things are moving so quickly, we are being hunted by a Dark Lord, I am dying… slowly, it's been too much lately, but there's so much I want to tell you too."
"You do?" Melissa said with curiosity in her eyes, as she slowly moved towards Izuku.
"Y-Yeah."
Melissa was now an inch away from smooshing in with his body, he could sense her heartbeat, in sync with his, her slow breathing, the sapphire eyes so deep with a tiny hint of a tear forming at the end of them. Her pale face glistening by the scorching sunlight, the lavender scented hair tied up in a pony-tail, the cute outfit, white heavily sized T-shirt with shorts, the moment was just too perfect.
But he knew he shouldn't, in the last moment of hesitation, he remembered All Might's words, he didn't want her to worry about anything until after the Sports Festival.
"M-Melissa?"
"Yeah?" none of them had noticed that both of them had their hands behind each other's back and were now practically hugging.
"I know you have certain feelings and I have them too, but why don't we postpone and talk about it after the Sports Festival?"
"W-W-What? Why?"
"B-Because I don't want anything distracting either of us for the event, alright? We are just pinning it for the time being and we'll talk about it after."
"Y-You sure?"
"I-I am Melissa."
The girl just grumbled, wiped the shedded tears with her sleeves and walked away. Izuku knew if Melissa would have asked one more time, he wouldn't be able to resist it, but he was happy he stood his ground, they'd be focused for the festival right?
'Then why does it feel so empty inside…?'
The rest of the day passed uneventfully, though during the nighttime, Izuku and Melissa talked about random stuff for a while, just to ease things between them. It was actually Momo's idea to do something normal during this chaotic period.
Aizawa-sensei informed them that there will be some important announcements on the following day, so no one should miss it by any chance.
And with that, their week break was over, the students of Class 1-A were sitting, talking inanimately in their classroom while waiting for their homeroom teacher to arrive.
Slightly slouched, Aizawa walked in with his usual tired persona.
"Good Morning class', he greeted the flock of children while they greeted him back, it was the day of the announcement of the Sports Festival and as much as he'd hate to admit it, he was kind of excited for this one as Izuku will be one of the participants.
"Now, listen up class, your fight isn't over..."
"Say wha?/ Another attack?/ Oh for the love of god what now!?/ Hey mom, come pick me up i'm scared..." random chatter came from the group at Shouta's vague statement.
"The U.A Sports Festival is coming up."
'Why'd you phrase it like that!?/ WAAA- oh.'
"It's an event of utmost importance, the whole country watches it very carefully."
Shocking everyone, Kaminari raised his worries "But is it really smart to hold it after such an incident, what if villains infiltrate it too!?"
Shouta sighed as he heard some agreeing murmurs coming among the students "Compared to the past five years, the police presence have been doubled, multiple top ranked heroes will be present for the show, both to provide a sense of safety and for scouting."
"Scouting?"
"Yes, our sport's festival is Japan's biggest events, once Olympics became obsolete, the UA Sports Festival proudly took its place, naturally you'll gain a different level of experience if you're picked by a top ranked hero, but do take in mind that rank isn't everything, think of what kind of Hero you wanna be, your time will be short, show the pros what you're made of and carve your own future. Once a year, three chances in a lifetime, if you're aspiring to be a hero, this is something of grave importance, so you better not slack off during training."
"YES SIR!"
During lunch time, All Might asked Melissa to have lunch with him, Izuku knew exactly what he wanted to ask of her, though he'd wished that the hero should be a little subtle, if the Symbol of Peace asks a specific person in the middle of a crowd to have lunch with him, it raises serious signs of favouritism.
For someone who was carrying probably the modern world's greatest secret, Toshinori wasn't doing a great job.
From the corner of his eye, he noticed the look Shoto had on his face when this whole act of kindness happened, he looked weirdly at them and then scoffed in thought. There was already a theory going around that Melissa was All Might's daughter and the uncle-nephew duo weren't helping.
Izuku was personally even more excited for the festival because The David Shield was coming to visit, he'd stay for the three day period of the Festival. This was actually a surprise for Melissa, so only him, All Might and Aizawa knew. They didn't intend to include him in on the secret but when he walked in on them talking about it, they had to.
"You want me to what Uncle Might?"
Melissa was sitting beyond the deflated Toshinori who had just finished explaining to her about the graveness of the festival and that it's not to be taken lightly.
"I want this sports festival to be your debut, you the fledgeling new Symbol of Peace" he buffed up mid-sentence to bring the dramatics to the conversation. "Melissa Shield, I want you to inform the world of your presence and proudly say I AM HERE!"
At the final words spoken, he deflated "You must focus on the event and do your best."
"I will Uncle Might! Wait hold up."
"W-What?"
"Did you tell Izuku to not tell me stuff because I need to focus on the event?"
"Yes?"
"Argh! Uncle Might!"
"Huh?"
Earlier that day, In a building, far far away
A potato-headed man sat in front of his computer, on the screen it had the data of some of the UA students.
Eijiro Kirishima.
Denki Kaminari.
Rikido Sato.
And the one marked in red, Momo Yaoyorozu.
"So they only changed the quirk of one person, clever." as he was saying this, his vision faded, it turned from heat to normal, he could see what looked like an office, he knew exactly whose office it was, once his sight landed on a couple of tea cups and a white paw.
He witnessed with a plain face as his hand reached for a burnt up teen, and it pumped in a quirk,
"Oh my… Kurogiri?"
At his command, the supposed free-willed creature materialized himself before him.
"Yes master?"
"Bring me Tomura"
Complying with his order, Shigaraki was brought in front of him within a second.
"Y-You summoned me, Sensei?"
"How is that new quirk treating you, my child?"
"It's great Sensei."
"Would you like your own quirk back Tomura?"
"O-Of course Sensei!"
"Whatever you wish my child, after all, everything is for your sake."
