Edward wanted Bella to move on, so she did. Bella pulled herself out of her depression. She hung out with friends, applied for college, and became best friends with Jacob Black. She thought of her months with Edward as the best of her life and, though she missed him, never once did she think of acting on those feelings. Until she was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. AU.

6. I'm Back! and a Recap

Guys I actually finished this! Well, semi finished because I'm still writing the epilogue, but the point is that once I finish uploading the other chapters, I'll also be done with the epilogue, so I can finally mark a story as complete! Anyways, it's been a while so here's a quick recap of chapters 1-4 so you don't have to reread them. Updates are going to be on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and maybe Sundays, depending on how my schedule works out. Also, quick heads up that I'm changing my pen name within the next week.

Recap:

In Chapter One, we saw Bella writing a letter to Alice, requesting to see at least one of the Cullens before she dies, so she knows she wasn't crazy. Alice sees her writing the letter in a vision, and plans to tell Edward with Jasper.

In Chapter Two, Jacob visits Bella in her hospital room and we learn that they haven't spoken since Jacob phased. Jacob is understandably distraught but he can finally tell Bella about his secret because she's dying. Edward is shell-shocked when he sees Alice's vision, but he runs off to Forks momentarily. Alice sees the letter arriving at the house in Ithaca, where Emmett, Rosalie, Esme, and Carlisle are, and calls them.

Chapter Three opens with Esme and co. reading the letter, and Alice asking them to meet her, Jasper, and Edward in Seattle. Bella gets a surprise visit from Victoria, but while Jacob is appalled, Bella doesn't really care because she's, well, dying.

In Chapter Four, we learn that this fic includes one of the most common canon divergences in New Moon, which is that Edward lies to his family about why they needed to leave Forks. This divergence is so common that this author sort-of, kind-of, did believe it was canon when she wrote the scene. She has since been relieved of this misconception, but she is leaving it there because it feels more realistic than the rest of the Cullens just doing what Edward says without even saying goodbye to Bella, especially Esme. Like, seriously, Esme didn't even say goodbye? Or apologize or something? This is Esme we're talking about!

Anyways, Edward and Alice get into an argument with Charlie outside Bella's room, and Jacob goes to check it out. He leaves the door open and unsurprisingly gets drawn into the argument, but eventually, Bella gets sick of hearing it and verbally puts her foot down. Edward and Alice are allowed into her room and Bella learns that Edward still loves her. She and Alice catch up, and Edward asks why the room smells like Victoria. Bella explains what happened and why she doesn't care, and Edward decides that once she's dead, he'll go to the Volturi. Alice drags him out of the room.
