Author's note:

Hello Everyone, I'd like to thank you for reading this prologue as well as hopefully the first chapter that I've released. I'm writing this note quite a while before publishing chapters as I'm currently going through the process of spiffing up and fixing the first 30 or so chapters that I've written.

This is my first endeavor into writing on such a scale and I'm glad to accept any feedback or questions as I'm a bit of a Star Wars nerd. The story itself incorporates a lot of different Legends elements, as well as excludes certain other parts so I do apologize if there was something that you wanted that I just wasn't able to fit into the story. I wanted to sort of timestamp everything and make it orderly so I wasn't able to do everything that I wanted especially during the first couple arcs.

Other than that please enjoy it, I should be updating the story every couple of days for the first couple of chapters and slowing down as I revisit some of the later chapters for fixes. If anyone would like to edit/help me out with looking at some of the material before its revealed please reach out to me and I can have you look at the chapter a day earlier or so.

Author's note 2:

I find it important to note that I started this up around 2 years ago, and just wanted to ensure I had a good number of chapters out, and then got side tracked by college and the amazing amount of stuff that came out from Star Wars and Disney. I say this as alot of the stuff, priorly touched on in Legends was changed and in doing so, might go against your idea of whats been introduced. But please do enjoy!

Standard Disclaimer:

I don't own any of Star Wars, I wish I did. Disney's been ok with the Filoni stuff but the last trilogy I didn't enjoy too much.

Anakin's POV

I watched on as they cremated Vader's remains in the way of the old Jedi customs, surprised to know that there were still those who could remember them. I had thought with the great purges of any mention of Jedi across the galaxy they would've been forgotten.

I pulled my gaze from the fire looking to the side and noticing the other ghostly forms of Jedi Masters looking down pleasantly on Luke. Qui Gon, Yoda, and Obi-Wan floating serenely next to me, approving of the boys actions The act of giving myself into the living force, was somehow not one limited to those powerful in the force, then again I did take the concept from Obi-Wan I thought looking over at the older Jedi.

While deep down I had let myself flow into the living force and came to 'peace' I still felt some displeasure for them, especially with Obi-Wan. How could he have taught my son so little of the force, why didn't he simply reveal the existence of my children, was I too far gon…. 'Ani' the light voices of Padme in my head, the loss, the anger, the understanding. He was right after losing Padme and with Sidious whispering in my ear who knew what I would've done. Maybe raised his next apprentice, not to speak of what would've happened to his sister.

But now what a fragile balance my son held with him I thought looking back down at him talking with some pilots. The Chosen One bringing balance back to the force, but at what cost? Luke looked up eyes widening in slight disbelief as he saw us before him smiling.

He was so strong in the force, but still so weak, I thought to myself, and still so in line with the Jedi tenants. Without my help and Sidious's decaying body Luke would've never been able to finish off the Sith Lord. I should've felt pride for his actions, but deep down all that was there was pity. I knew the weight now thrust upon him, a weight and burden that I as the Chosen One should've taken on.

Sweeping a glance across the festivities I took in the sight of the native species, Ewoks, taking part in celebration with him was to my pleasant surprise C-3PO and R2, as well as Leia dancing with that wretched smuggler from Corellia, and the rest of the rebels celebrating with one another.

How happy they look I reflected, but for how long? Where was the next threat? Is this how deep my familial bond goes? I couldn't help but worry for the future of Luke and Leia. As Palpatine's right hand I'd been privy to many of the dark shadows lurking across the expanses of the galaxy, a good portion of which I had personally taken care off with the 501st. I had cleaned up pirates and warlords in the outer rim, destroyed creatures who could take on whole planets, and even had whole planets destroyed in the name of peace.

But still…...

"The future looks bleak?" swiveling around I searched for the source of the voice in confusion. The other Jedi masters had already faded back into the force waiting to be called upon again when someone strong enough was in need, and even I had been in the process of fading back into the force with Lukes attention shifting elsewhere.

I almost shimmered in shock seeing the source of the voice, "but you're dead," I exclaimed. "And so are you" the projection responded, a face from the war, a face from beyond the grave, in all his glory The Father stood. "It's been a long time, Anakin, and I've come to request of your aid again".

Realization dawned on me, "you've been watching this whole time haven't you. Why did you not intervene, why did you not step in and…."

"Give you advice... warn you?" The Father retorted. "I had already given you a choice and you denied to take it, and look where it's led you." he motioned towards the rebel party "Family torn apart, the balance of the force but an elimination of both sides, and the galaxy in shambles. I tried to turn you away as did many others, but did you listen, No!" The Father said harshly as his projection seemed to loom over Anakin amidst the starry sky and dark shadows the celebratory fires painted. "I would rather let you watch as you went down the other path, the one of ruin, the one that you had foreseen" he muttered softly.

I paused, about to retort, my memory had come back to me during his time as a Sith of the journey to Mortis, his encounters with The Father, The Son, and The Daughter, the visions The Son showed him to turn him to the dark side. But they quickly faded, a forgotten memory that got buried deep down lest his master turned it against him. "But…."

"But what? I knew there was no way you would turn from the path you were walking unless you saw for yourself the result of your actions. I had thought you would heed my words and be wary of your heart and your dedication. And even now I'm here to offer you another chance and yet you argue instead of question what it is" The Father said impatiently.

"There's nothing I could even do in this form, what can I change?" I responded motioning to my incorporeal form.

"…..everything" The Father muttered, motioning for him to follow as he shifted through the air, a doorway of light opening in front of him. Stepping out, the pair found themselves in front of a massive swirl of rocks and debris.

"Be quiet and listen for this story starts long ago, during our exploration of the universe my children and I discovered rifts in the galaxy" The Father said, motioning with his hand as projections appeared, tears in space, seemingly radiant light billowing from them.

"Rifts?" I queried looking at the projections curiously.

"Yes, rifts of mysterious origins. We celestials were born when the force manifested itself in this galaxy, going about unrestrained building contraptions of immense power and ability and manipulating the force, and thus the galaxy as we saw fit." He seemed to pause as he looked at the swirling black hole in front of him. "But we dreaded these rifts, they were portals of sorts, manipulatable only through the force and even then they were capable of trapping forces even as powerful as us, expelling new life from their depths, and even… tampering with time." The Father said as he projected images of Eldritch horrors escaping the rifts, him desperately trying to pull his children from rifts before they got sucked away, and many other memories from The Celestials explorations.

My eyes widened as I realized what Father was saying "But what would that do, even then how is that different from now, different from what your son had done?" as a force ghost, what would I be able to change?

"We thought similarly, what point would it be to simply send bits of yourself or your presence back if you couldn't change anything. We could already see the future, or possible futures through the force, what could this do for us? As we used the force and experimented we quickly found out more, with the force you could manipulate certain things, at first it was just small conscious messages, don't do this, do that, and were amazed at the changes we made. Simple things like don't change this and don't make this planet, create a different species, don't go to this place." The Father showed the creations of systems, whole new species and life sprouting from the collective celestial power.

"Then one day we thought if we could send messages back in time could we send people?" The images flashed to an insectoid creature being thrown into the portal. "We tried many of the different species that we created before…."

"Before?" I asked, gripped with excitement over the repercussions of such an event.

"One day we tossed in a force sensitive, and he remembered," The Father said as the image changed to a much smaller insectoid.

"Remembered?" I echoed in confusion.

"Yes, he remembered what had happened, it was his second time being thrown through, the first time he had wished to return to his homeland and he instead had been changed back to his younger self, still back on the planet from which he came." The image in Fathers palm changed to the young insectoid pleading not to be thrown in again, "Of course we didn't believe him at first, so we decided to throw him in again, and this time tell him a code that would confirm that he was telling the truth, upon us approaching him to tell him this code he already knew it stating he'd been thrown through twice, confirming the experiment." The insectoid creature in Fathers image seemed to be crying as it begged not to go in again.

"So then why have no pirates, no smuggler, no reconnaisus team spoken of such a rift?" I asked, there was always bound to be rumors of such a thing happening. The galaxy was expansive, and there was no small amount of over confident explorers.

"Well, for one thing it required a being strong in the force, as we said, most of the beings thrown in either just passed through or were ripped to shreds, without sufficient force as well as will of mind one wouldn't be able to enter much less travel such an unstable temporary walkway. Even most of the force users such as the young Killik you saw there suffered extreme pain and force exhaustion from being tossed through. Secondly we realized that given the unseen circumstances if someone were to misuse the power it was better off sealed, so we formed a black hole over most of these rifts, to mask it." He said, the images in his palm disappearing as he pointed towards the swirling mass of rocks in front of him.

"We had found out through repetitive trials that portal seemed to suffer from exhaustion everytime it was walked, sometimes it wasn't as forgiving to some force sensitives, and it seemed to fade over time, we hoped to conserve its natural properties for a time we may have need of it, such as now. " The Father sighed as he turned to look at me.

"You formed a black hole over it?" I asked in amazement still looking at the black hole in front of me. I had done and seen many incredible feats in my time as a Sith and as a Jedi, but the creation of a dark hole through the force…. Incredible.

"Anything is possible through the force, centerpoint station orbiting Alderan uses similar concepts to protect the outskirts of the galaxy and maintain another field that seals another such rift." The Father said, bringing up an image of the unassuming cylindrical space station.

"But still, you weren't tempted?" I asked, thinking of what could've been changed, adapted, altered.

"Of course but we had already figured out most of the concepts and built a controlled system for our own use hidden from the force. I believe your padawan was saved through its use. Additionally it was of obvious temptation to my son, and after some unsavory experiments I decided we must retreat into Mortis if the galaxy where to be at peace" The Father said deep in thought.

Thinking back to Lothal he did remember one of the battles between him and Snipps before indeed she had disappeared before she was to be cut down, Anakin realized it wasn't a vision as his master had convinced him. His padawan truly had come to blows with him, and had almost been cut down, but where was she now?

"Regardless, the pathway has been hidden for centuries, but wanes and pulls due to how long it's been open, given your use of it,and how far you want to go back. Going back so far in time to actually make a difference…. well It might be your last chance to truly want to go back and fix everything. The Lothal location has already been destroyed and manipulating time from a past point could cause… alterations to our current situation." The Father continued somberly as he seemed to stare deep into the reaches of the black hole.

"So when can I go?" I asked eagerly, my ghostly form almost vibrating with energy as I looked into the void.

"Still so impatient? No first you have to learn, both in the force and in solid tactics. Make a plan, what will you even do when you go back? In your current form and using Mortis you could stay a nearly indefinite amount of time training, once you're done with your training you can go. It's no use for you to go back and do the exact same thing. You more than anyone should know the repercussions of messing this up" The Father said shaking his head.

I mulled it over, I had heard and seen various dangers, but none that I thought Luke, and his group couldn't face, or run away from if need be. "What kind of threats?" I asked looking back up at The Father.

"You'll see, '' he replied ominously, "but for now let's go", he said, opening another small rift in the force, and stepping through, I looked back at the rift one more time before following him through.

Indeterminate Space, Indeterminate Time

Anakin's POV

"So this is it?" I looked at the rift in front of me.

"Yes...This is it '' The Father replied back to me, we stood in front of the swirling mass of rocks and debris. It had felt like a millennia of planning and learning stored in my mind. But looking at the rift in front of me I wondered if it was worth it, would this really work.

I pushed aside my doubts looking at Father "Will I see you again?" I asked hesitantly. Father looked even more deep in thought as his eyes stared into the rift. "Who knows, maybe you will, maybe you won't, Mortis will be there, but even I don't know whether us Celestials will be there." He dipped his head looking down at his hands "we've been around for so long anyways, when you found us the first times I was already on the verge of death, just waiting to fade away, but it all depends… it all depends" he moved forward to tap Anakin gently on his forehead, a golden glow emanating. He then waved his hands out portals of light and dark opening, energies flowing out to the middle. "Maybe we'll find you, maybe you'll find us, regardless it's up to you to bring balance Anakin. If you want things to go to plan, you must remember the time you've spent with me, and the mistakes of your past. You've seen what's at stake."

I nodded as I steeled myself floating forwards, I had seen some of the monsters that Luke had had to face over the years I had been taught by Father. Using the pool of knowledge and tapping into the force through Mortis to see all that had been seen and touched with the force. Using the force to view past events, formulating a plan, and learning the different facets of the force under Father's tutelage, it had been enlightening as my master would've put it.

"Go now, my child" Father said fondly as I floated forward closer to the temporal rift at the center of the black hole. "May the Force be with you" I replied, there would be no turning back today though, no regrets I thought to myself a slight tear falling from my eye. "And may the force be with you" he said softly as I pulled the force from within me and entered the black hole.
