Caroline moaned into his mouth, and her fingers began to thread through his hair. She pushed her body closer to his, and smiled into his lips as she felt his entire body against the length of hers.

Klaus' hands dug into her waist, and held her firmly against his body, as his lips moved from hers down to her neck.

He still couldn't believe it. She was here. She was against him. She loved him. He opened his mouth, and placed a wide kiss against the base of her throat, and smiled when he heard her moan.

Caroline's body was on fire. She couldn't take much more. She threw her head back, and bit her bottom lip as his teeth scraped her throat lightly.

Klaus smiled, pulling his head back from her throat. His smile faded slightly when he watched her face melt into pure love.

"I missed you so much, love." He whispered, hating that his voice was breaking.

Caroline smiled, and pulled her right hand back from his hair to touch his face. "I missed you just as much, Klaus." She whispered, her eyes conveying her truth.

"How?" He asked in a hushed voice.

"The Bennetts and your mother." She answered, watching his eyes darken. "Technically, it was me." She began to explain. "I realized I could have both. I could love you, be with you, and still tend to my duties." She added with a shrug of her shoulders. "When I realized this, they showed up and told me how right I was." She paused, gazing into his blue eyes. "I'm not betraying anything or anyone by loving you, Klaus. It's a part of who I am; you are a part of who I am." She stated, firmly.

Klaus' eyes filled with unshed tears, as he closed them. "You still have to return above then?" He asked, nervously.

Caroline leaned forward and gently kissed his lips. "Only when my duty calls, otherwise, I'm yours…forever." She whispered, kissing him once more.

Klaus shivered lightly at the declaration of her words. "Truly?" He asked, still trying to absorb the truth.

Caroline nodded, and smiled. "I can even eat the food down here, now." She stated, lightly.

Klaus pulled back, and studied her. "Really?" He asked, noticing her light tone.

She nodded, and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Your mother explained it all to me. Once I accepted everything, she told me that I was the Lady of the Underworld and the Goddess of Spring. I am both." She stated, firmly, her eyes sparkling.

He studied her for a moment, and smiled. "The pomegranate." He whispered, with a nod of his head.

Caroline tilted her head. "You know of it?" She asked, watching him smile once more.

"Only in legend." He explained, caressing her hips with his hands. "I have never seen one, but I know of its properties." He whispered, searching her eyes. "You ate one." He stated, though he had meant it as a question.

She nodded, and smiled. "It's how I was able to be with you." She whispered, biting her bottom lip.

Klaus smiled, and pulled her tighter to his body. "So you are now the Lady of the Underworld?" He asked, his eyes falling down to her lips and then to her body.

Caroline smiled and nodded. "Unless you don't want me." She stated in a mock tone, with her smile fading softly.

Klaus chuckled at her teasing, and shook his head. "I'll always want you, Caroline. Nothing is ever going to change that." He stated, placing his forehead on hers.

She sighed, as her arms tightened around his neck. She was perfectly content and happy, happier than she had ever been in her life, even before she had returned home.

She moved her forehead over his, and sighed. "I love you, Niklaus." She whispered with sincerity.

Klaus smiled at her words, and let out a small breathe before answering. "As I love you, Caroline." He returned, softly.

She pulled back after a moment, and moved her hands down his arms to his hands still on her waist, and gently grasped them. Stepping further back, she back up alongside left side of the bed, pulling him along with her.

Klaus' eyes held a mischievous glint in them, as his head tilted to the side. "Caroline…" He began, watching her head shake.

"Klaus, I love you more than I have ever loved anyone in my life, and when I'm with you, I feel whole, complete." She began, pulling him closer to her. "Here and now, I pledge my love and loyalty to you. I am yours, Niklaus, now and forever." She whispered, with a soft smile.

Klaus smiled at her words, and felt his heart swell at the force of them. Reaching up with his hands, he grasped her face in between them. "I have never in my entire existence loved anyone, like I love you, Caroline." He began, stroking her cheeks tenderly. "Here and now, I pledge my love and loyalty to you. Just like you are mine, I am yours, Caroline, now and forever." He finished in a low whisper.

As the last words were said, they began to feel the effect of them in the stillness of the room. They smiled as they felt their strength getting stronger, and their love growing more powerful than ever.

They knew the reason. They had just said the sacred vows of love and honor, spoken only by those who were destined to be together.

~Bennett House~

The Bennetts smiled as the words were finished.

"They are now complete." Ayanna stated, turning her gaze to Esther and Liz.

Esther turned to Liz, and smiled. "Our children are married." She whispered through her tears.

Liz nodded. "Yes, they are." She whispered, wiping her tears.

Her daughter was married, not in the way that mortals marry. She had been married by the way of the gods. Spoken only by devotion and love, those words had bound the two lovers for all eternity, and no one or nothing would ever sever the link they now held with each other.

Liz smiled as she watched her daughter's image fade in the orb, and nodded with understanding.

It was time.

~Bedroom~

Klaus leaned forward, and placed his lips gently on hers. It was a soft movement that brought tears to her eyes.

This was different in many ways. She felt his hands on her shoulders, and she shivered at the softness of his touch. She placed her hands on his chest, and smiled when he pulled back to look into her eyes.

No words needed to be spoken, while they gazed into each other's eyes. It was the unspoken words that moved them to continue.

She moved her hands down his chest to the bottom of his dark Henley, and slowly pulled it up and over his head. She smiled at the perfect physique of his body, and lightly fingered the feather tattoo on his right shoulder, which broke into small birds across his chest. Her eyes lifted to his, and she smiled once more.

His right hand touched her face, and brought her lips to his once more in a gentle searing kiss. She sighed when he pulled back, and her eyes never left his as he pushed her dress down her body. She didn't move as his eyes moved down her bare body in a silent appraisal.

He slowly shook his head, and smiled. He didn't say a word as his eyes captured hers once more. She didn't need words to convey what she saw in his eyes. He made her feel beautiful.

In a swift movement, he bent down and swept her up in his arms. In a quick, gentle movement, he laid her down on the bed, but left enough room so he could lie beside her.

He stood beside the bed only for a moment, as he removed his pants and boots. He smiled as he watched her eyes become so amazed at the sight of him, and he climbed on the bed beside her.

Softly kissing her lips, his left hand began to roam over her body, gently rolling over her right breast, and pulling her nipple in a soft movement.

She moaned into his mouth, and her hands moved over his shoulders.

His left leg pushed in-between her legs, and she gasped in his mouth at the feeling of him against her skin.

He lifted his head from hers, and smiled as he gently kissed her neck, and moved down slightly to her breasts. Opening his mouth, he gently sucked each one in turn, his scruffy beard, now trimmed, scratching her skin.

She arched her back, pushing her breasts further into his mouth, and causing her body to come into contact with his. She moaned at the contact, and smiled when his head lifted to look at her.

His right hand had been braced beside her body, and his left slowly made it down her side to her stomach, and finally in-between.

She moaned as he gently caressed her, and felt her body come alive, and on fire. She wanted more, and he seemed to know it, for his head dipped down to her stomach, and softly laid kisses down until he was between her legs.

She arched her back when she felt his lips on her inner thighs.

"Klaus…" She moaned her voice filled with passion and love.

Klaus lifted his head, and smiled at her coming undone before him. Pushing himself up her body, he softly kissed her cheek, forehead, other cheek, and finally her lips.

Her right leg moved over his left leg, and she smiled into his lips as he shivered.

He pulled back, and slowly positioned himself over her. Her eyes never left his, when his left hand touched her face.

He knew this was her first time, and he also knew that no matter what, this was going to be the most special moment in both of their lives.

Watching her nod, with a smile on her face, and feeling her legs wrap around his, he gently pushed inside of her.

She gasped at the feeling of him, and felt her body stretch to accommodate him. It hurt and was slightly uncomfortable at first, but the pain and uneasiness seemed to be overshadowed as she gazed into his eyes, and saw such love pouring out of them. She knew it wasn't over, for concern flashed in his eyes as he pushed once more, and she felt her body being ripped in two.

She bit her lip at the pain, but refused to cry out. She knew he had stilled his movements, and she knew he hated that she was in pain. Her hands caressed his face, and gently pulled him down.

Softly she kissed his lips, and the pain began to disappear. She smiled as her hips began to move underneath him.

He moaned as he began to move, thrusting as deep as he could, watching her face, contort in pleasure.

Her hands moved to his shoulders, and her nails began to dig into his skin. As he moved inside of her, she knew the pain was over. All she felt now was pleasure, such pleasure she had never felt before.

She felt sweat began to form on her face, and saw his face began to cover in small beads. Her hips lifted to his, as he continued each thrust with precision, and her legs moved to wrap around his hips, causing them both to groan at the feeling of him going deeper.

She arched her back, and moaned his name, when the pleasure seemed endless.

She heard him moaned hers in return. She cried out, when his thrusts began to speed up. She felt her body come apart. Her nerve endings were on fire, and her brain began to cloud over with pleasure.

She held onto his shoulders tightly, when he angled his position, hitting a spot she never knew existed, causing her to cry out.

Her eyes closed for a moment, and then opened to find his face contorting in pleasure. She knew he was almost done. His eyes clouded over in pleasure, and once more her hips lifted to his.

"Oh, Klaus!" She cried, as her mind left her, and was replaced with such exquisite pleasure.

Klaus moaned, and suddenly cried out her name, as his hips arched down, pushing deep into her body.

His body was on fire, and his mind was gone. All he knew was the pleasure of that moment, and how he never wanted it to end.

Finally spent, he collapsed on top of her, hating that he was squishing her. Though Caroline didn't seem to mind, she smiled as she came down, slowly, from her high, and wrapped her arms around him.

Turning her head, she slowly kissed his hair covered head.

Klaus tried to calm his breathing, and finally came down enough to lift his head to look down at her. If she wasn't already beautiful to him, she would be right now.

Her blonde hair was spread out in a small fan around her head, and her blue-green eyes were sparkling with love and from the aftermath. Her skin was shining from the sweat and her light.

He lifted his left hand, and gently pushed a strand of her blonde hair from her sweat drenched face.

"You're so beautiful." He whispered, after he found his voice.

Caroline blushed, and smiled. Her eyes searched his, and a slight frown appeared on her forehead. "Was I alright?" She asked, in a weak voice.

Klaus chuckled, and leaned down and gently kissed her lips. "You were and are fantastic, love." He whispered, kissing her once more.

Caroline smiled, and returned his kiss. "I hope you are not just saying that because you love me." She scolded with a slight tease.

Klaus shook his head as he chuckled. "Believe me, love, I am not." He stated his eyes sparkling.

She nodded in confirmation. "Good, because if you didn't say that, I would have to punish you." She stated, with a glare.

He chuckled. "And what kind of punishment would you inflict?" He asked, watching her.

She smirked with a devilish glare, and moved her hips slightly, causing them both to groan. "Oh, I would think of something." She stated, with a nod.

Klaus bit back a groan, and smiled. "You are a little minx, aren't you?" He asked, touching her face.

She smiled and shrugged. "Only with you." She stated, wiggling her eyebrows.

Klaus let out a laugh at her antics, causing her to laugh with him. They stopped when they realized the movement of their laughter was affecting their positions.

Klaus shook his head, and gently removed himself from Caroline. Suddenly, he felt empty at the action, but he couldn't make love to her again. He wouldn't want to hurt her.

Caroline frowned at the feeling of loss, and turned on her side to face him. She winced as the muscles, which she hadn't realized she had, felt sore.

Klaus smiled as she tried to cover up her discomfort, and touched her face gently with his left hand, as he propped up on his right hand.

"Did I hurt you?" He asked, softly.

Caroline sighed, and grasped his hand with her right. Threading their fingers together, she looked up at him. "It hurt at first, but the rest of it was worth it." She whispered, with a shy smile.

Klaus smiled at her honesty, and lifted her hand, threaded with his, to his lips. "You should rest, love." He whispered, moving the covers from underneath them, and gently wrapped them up.

Caroline smiled at his tenderness. After he wrapped them up, she snuggled into his side, laying her head on his shoulder, and placed her right hand on his chest.

"Elijah came to see me." She whispered, stroking his chest. She felt him stiffen slightly, but she continued. "He told me that you had given up on love." She said, feeling his right hand, which was stroking her bare back, still. "Is that true?" She asked, lifting her head to look at him.

Klaus closed his eyes at the pain in her voice. "It was." He whispered, opening his eyes, only to look away from her.

Caroline sat up straighter, ignoring the twinge below. "Why?" She asked, watching him.

Klaus sighed, and glanced back at her for a brief time. "Because I thought I had lost you." He stated, lowly.

Caroline shook her head. "Klaus," She began, touching his face, to look at her. "I told you before I left, you would never lose me. My heart always belongs to you, and distance would never change that." She stated, vehemently.

Klaus studied her eyes, and slowly nodded. "All I could see was the pain, Caroline." He whispered, sadly.

"So could I, but I didn't give up, Klaus." She stated, softly but firmly.

Klaus turned his face from her. "I'm sorry for thinking that, love." He whispered, in a distant voice.

Caroline sighed and touched his face once more. "There is something else you're not telling me." She replied, watching him carefully.

He closed his eyes at the pain of remembering. He couldn't believe he said what he did. "I told Elijah that I didn't need you and I didn't need love." He replied, finally looking at her. "But I didn't mean it, Caroline." He added, solemnly. "I…" He began, but found his throat clogged. He swallowed, and gazed into her eyes. "I didn't mean it, love." He finished, with a shaky voice.

Caroline smiled softly, and nodded. "I know, Klaus." She whispered, tenderly.

He sighed, and lowered his gaze, lifting his left hand to her right, now resting on his chest, and gently grasped it. "I thought I was going to be in the darkness forever, and then you showed up, and brought the light." He began, rubbing his thumb over her hand. "Without you, I would still be in it." He added, with emotion.

Caroline bit her bottom lip, and watched his fingers twiddle with hers. "Without you, I would have lost my light, and would have become lost." She whispered, tears springing to her eyes.

He turned his eyes to her, and shook his head. "Caroline, as long as I draw breath, I will never allow your light to leave you." He vowed, firmly.

She smiled, and nodded. "I know, as long as you live, I will never lose it, and as long as I breathe, you will never be in the darkness." She vowed in return.

He smiled at her conviction, and leaned forward. With tenderness, he kissed her lips, and pulled back. "I never knew I could be tender until I met you." He whispered, unexpectedly.

She shrugged, and giggled. "Well, I never knew I could be wanton until I met you." She whispered in return.

He laughed, and gathered her up in his arms. "I do love you, Caroline." He whispered, kissing the top of her head.

She laughed, and nodded, holding him tight. "I love you too, Niklaus." She whispered, kissing his shoulder.

As they nestled in their bed, wrapped in each other's arms and legs, they knew that whatever they faced, they would face it together.

Klaus smiled in the darkness, as he held his light close to his side. She had returned to him. She had made the vow, and she had become his Lady, his Queen, his wife. He wondered if she knew the significance of the words she had spoken, before they had made love. He frowned at the thought, she wouldn't know.

Surely she knew she would not have spoken them if she didn't. After all, she had eaten the pomegranate, a fruit of the Underworld and of the world above. A fruit that granted the eater, that granted both, if she so chooses and she had chosen. She had chosen him.

He sighed; as he held her, and listened to her breathe evenly in her sleep. She was his, and he was never going to be parted from her ever again. For he knew if he ever lost her again, he would never be able to live.

He would rather suffer in the Despair Fields than lose her, and that was saying something.

He gazed up at the ceiling, and smiled. Love wasn't a weakness. It was strength, if you are willing to accept it, and he had.

He accepted her love, and in return, she had returned to him, and promised to be with him for all eternity.

It was more than he could ever hope for. More than all he could ever wish for. More than he could ever want.

He had his light, and he was never going to let go.

~X~

Esther walked down the marble hallways of her palace, and smiled. Her son was happy, and she was happy. He had found his soul mate, but the trial wasn't over yet.

She knew what was coming, and who it was. It terrified her to think about him. He had terrified her and her children long enough.

Now the only ones who could defeat him, was her son and his mate.

She turned her head, when she heard footsteps coming towards her. She smiled as she saw her young daughter, with her blonde hair in curls, draping down her back, and a light pink and silver dress, accentuating her curves, walking towards her.

"I just heard from Elijah." Rebekah stated, with a smile. "Is it true? Has Nik finally found her?" She asked, with a light in her eyes.

Esther smiled and nodded. "Yes, it's true, my dear." She answered, touching her daughter's shoulder lightly.

Rebekah smiled, and nodded. "And here I thought Nik would never find her, and be alone forever." She stated, with a small laugh.

Esther laughed lightly. "Well, he did find her, and it appears, he kidnapped her first." She remarked, raising a brow.

Rebekah's eyes widened. "He kidnapped her?! And she still stayed with him?!" She asked, hardly believing.

Esther nodded. "Yes, she fell in love with your brother, and has decided to stay with him. She even spoke the vows." She added, with a smile.

Rebekah opened her mouth, but quickly closed it. Her brother had found his soul mate, and she even had spoken the vows. A part of her, a small part was sad, not for her brother, but for herself. She was the Goddess of Love, and yet she had no one to love her like that.

Esther watched her young daughter, frown, and she felt her heart ache for her. So many times, she watched her daughter date many Gods, even a few mortals, but never had one stayed to love her.

"Your time will come, Rebekah." Esther whispered, touching her daughter's face.

Rebekah nodded, and turned her head, when she heard someone coming towards them. She felt her heart quicken at the sight, but she hide her feelings behind her usual mask.

Esther smiled at the young man approaching them, and bowed her head, when he returned it.

"My lady, you requested to see me." Stefan replied, glancing briefly at Rebekah.

Esther watched the exchange with a smile, and nodded towards Stefan. "Yes, there is a certain matter which I wish to discuss with you." She stated, glancing at her daughter. "I'm sorry, my dear, but this is urgent." She added with a soft smile.

Rebekah nodded, and gave a nod to Stefan. "Of course, mother." She replied, bowing her head, before turning to go.

Stefan couldn't help, but to watch her go, and sighed involuntarily at the sight.

"Why have you not told her?" Esther replied, softly.

Stefan turned his head towards her, and shook it. "She would not accept a cripple like me." He stated, sadly.

Esther nodded and turned her gaze to her daughter, who had turned her head to look back at Stefan. "Perhaps if you did not let your predicament get the best of you." She replied, firmly.

Stefan smiled, sadly. "Klaus said the same thing." He whispered, lowering his gaze.

"Well, perhaps you should listen." She remarked, walking past him.

Stefan closed his eyes, and glanced once more down the hall where he had watched Rebekah go. With a shake of his head, he turned to follow Esther.

No one would ever love a cripple like him, much less the Goddess of Love, and he had the Bennetts to thank for that.
