Please review at the end! :)
The walk back to the palace was quiet and comforting. No words needed to be spoken between them. All they cared about was holding onto each other until time ran out. It was an unspoken fear between them. If they let go of each other, then the other would disappear. It may have seemed silly, but not to them. Not after what they had went through.
Kol and Elijah watched from the balcony as Klaus and Caroline came into view. They both smiled in satisfaction as they gazed upon the couple. They shifted their gaze to each other, and Elijah motioned towards the door.
"Let's leave them alone for the night. They need this time alone." He replied, turning around to leave. Kol nodded in understanding and followed his brother out of the palace.
Klaus and Caroline walked through the palace only nodding to a few people, for they only had one destination in mind.
He opened the cypress door and motioned for her to go first. She smiled at him, entering their bedroom with a king size oak bed and velvet curtains over the window. The window gave a view of the entire realm. The floor was marble, with fur rugs in the center of the room and both sides of the bed. She stood in the middle of the room, before she walked towards the window on the other side of the room.
Klaus closed the door, and studied her while he walked over to her. He stopped just behind her, and carefully wrapped his arms around her waist, gently pulling her towards him.
Caroline sighed, laying her head back on his shoulder, and her hands landed on his hands over her stomach.
"The light is returning." She stated after a moment.
Klaus sighed. "Yes." He returned simply.
"We did it, Klaus." She whispered, joy and relief in her tone. "We did it."
Klaus nodded, and kissed her blonde head tenderly. She hummed at the contact. They stood in silence, gazing out the window as the light of brightened in the underworld.
"The darkness is disappearing." Caroline mentioned, careful.
Klaus watched with stern, calm eyes. "That's because the controller is dead." He stated, stiffly.
Caroline stepped forward enough to turn around to look at him. "How are feeling?" She asked, with her eyes searching his.
Klaus smiled, lifting his right hand to touch her face. "Relief. For the first time in millennia, I feel relief." He whispered, firmly with a light smile.
She smiled and placed her hands on his chest. "Do you still carry your darkness?" She asked, quietly.
Klaus frowned and inhaled deeply. "I always will." He answered, watching her face fall slightly. "But as long as I have you with me, it will never control me." He added, seeing her eyes sparkle with her light.
"Then it will never control you, for I never intend to leave you." She stated, firmly.
He smiled. "And I will never let you go." He vowed, confidently.
She smiled and leaned forward. Softly, yet with passion and love, she placed her lips on his. The kiss deepened, with his arms circling around her, pulling her tighter to his body, and her hands sliding up his body into his hair.
Their tongues battled for slight dominance, and Klaus pushed his body forward, slightly, causing Caroline to bend her back. She giggled at the movement, while pulling back slightly, but blushed when the movement brought his hips in line with hers.
Klaus clashed his lips with hers once more, and picked her up bridal style, while never tearing his lips from hers. Quickly he carried her to the bed, and proceeded to lay her down on the red satin sheets, while softly taking off her clothes and shoes.
Caroline smiled, when he pulled back to look at her. She had pulled off his shirt in the process of him taking her clothes off. All that was left was his pants. Sitting up, she reached for the belt of his pants, and began to loosen it. Within a minute, she had opened his pants, and began to push them down. Her face became hot at the sight of her beloved husband. Tearing her eyes away, she lifted them to his, and found them not mocking but loving. She smiled as he finished taking off his pants and boots. He straightened, his eyes roaming over her.
"You are perfection." He whispered, with eyes drinking in the sight of her body.
She touched his face, and never took her eyes from his face. "So are you." She whispered, pulling his head down to hers.
He lay down beside her, and his right hand began to move down her body, silently loving her reaction. His hand made circles over her bare skin, pausing over her breasts to gently fondle them. He tore his mouth from hers, and moved down her body, pausing to suck on her breasts.
Caroline arched her back at the feeling. Her body blazing with a fire of desire and love. Her left hand threaded through his curly hair, and she loved the texture. She moaned as his mouth traveled over her body, leaving not one spot untouched.
She lifted her head slightly to see him between her legs. Her eyes widened when she felt something inside her. She gripped the sheets beside her, and arched her back. She felt her body tighten with pleasure, feeling his fingers work magic inside her. Through all of this, he was tender, and caring. She could tell through the haze of pleasure that he was thinking of her pleasure not his. Love poured out of her at the thought.
She felt his lips on her thighs, sending her body in a fit of pleasure and ecstasy. She screamed his name, her body shaking from the orgasm. Her hair was sticking on her face, but she didn't care. She opened her sated filled eyes, and found Klaus gazing down at her with a tender gaze.
"That's not fair." She managed, through her haze.
He tilted his head, and touched her breasts with his right hand. "What's not, love?" He asked, kissing her forehead.
"Giving me such pleasure, and you taking none." She whispered, before his lips touched hers.
He smiled, and lifted his head. "Oh, I will. Besides, it pleasures me to see you filled with pleasure." He whispered, kissing her lips softly.
She sighed, and wrapped her arms around him. "Make love to me, Niklaus." She whispered, in between their kisses.
Klaus smiled, and positioned himself over her. Not breaking from her lips, he gently pushed inside of her.
At that moment they felt connected and at home. Klaus pulled up to gaze into her eyes, just when he began to move. The love in her eyes, and the way her hips moved with him, made him be all the more gentle, and yet passionate.
She smiled, lifting her legs, and wrapping them around his waist. She moaned and arched her neck backward, as he went deeper. Tears formed in her eyes at the sure beauty of what they were doing.
Klaus moved slowly, wanting to make this moment last. Everything he had felt in the past few days centered on this moment. He moved with precision, loving every contour of her perfect body. He moved his hips over her, feeling her lift them up. Her breasts crushed underneath his chest, and his eyes locked on hers.
He watched her eyes fill with passion and love with each move he made. "You're so beautiful." He whispered, kissing her cheek. "So exquisite." He added, kissing her lips.
Caroline smiled, and held on tight. "Love me, Klaus." She whispered, biting her bottom lip when a wave of pleasure hit her. "Oh gods, love me!" She nearly shouted in her pleasure.
Klaus smiled. "Always, love. Forever and always." He whispered, his face contorting in pleasure, when he felt her clench around him.
She moaned and arched her back up to his body. It was so sweet, feeling his skin against hers, feeling his love surround her.
Soon, she felt Klaus speed up his thrusts and she was rocking with him. Pleasure was becoming unbearable for both of them. Finally, they both moaned in unison as their orgasms hit them in waves.
Their bodies were slick with sweat, but neither cared. All they cared about what each other at that moment, just loving until they couldn't move.
Klaus collapsed on top of her, and tried to slow his breathing, as she did the same. He lifted his head, and gazed down at her.
She smiled with her eyes twinkling up at him. "Is it just me, or does it get better each time?" She whispered, with slight shyness.
Klaus smiled and shook his head. "No, it's not just you." He whispered, dropping his head to kiss her lips carefully.
She moaned at the connection, and held him tightly. Slowly he pulled out of her, and rolled onto his side, smiling at her frown, while he pulled the red satin sheet over them to their waists.
"Love, considering the day we had, I don't think you have it in you to go again." He stated, with a smirk.
She frowned, and her brows came together. "I don't? Or you don't?" She asked, quirking a brow.
He chuckled. "Touché." He remarked, kissing her lips.
She sighed, when he pulled back. "You know, if someone had asked me what I feared more than anything was a few weeks ago, I would have said, not being able to return above to my duties and my mother." She began, moving her right hand over his bare chest.
Klaus smiled at her words. "And now?" He asked, watching her lift her eyes coyly.
"Now, if they would ask, I would say losing you." She replied, with a hint of sadness. "When Mikael had you under his control that terrified me more than what he did to us, because knowing what he did to us that pain didn't hurt as much as losing you to the darkness you have fought so long to keep under control." She replied, tears filling her eyes.
Klaus caressed her face with his left hand, and frowned. "I wouldn't have made it out if not for you, Caroline." He replied, fervently.
She smiled through her tears, and nodded. "I couldn't lose you, Klaus." She whispered, brokenly.
He stroked her face with his thumb, and searched her eyes. "When you brought me back, the only thought that ran through my mind, was what if I truly hurt you." He remarked, tears filling his eyes. His gaze drifted down to her neck, where the mark from his bident was present. Pain entered his eyes, as he brought them up to hers. Leaning forward, he softly kissed the mark.
She closed her eyes at the action. When he pulled back, her eyes opened and saw the pain in his. "It wasn't you that did this." She stated, firmly, touching his face with her right hand. "It was Mikael controlling you. You have to believe that." She added, with determination.
Klaus sighed and closed his eyes. "If I had hurt you or worse, Caroline, I don't think I would have lived much longer." He replied with sadness.
Caroline shook her head. "Don't torture yourself with the past, Klaus." She stated, kissing his lips softly. "I'm here. I'm safe, and I will never leave you." She added, with a soft glare. "You have me for eternity." She added with a smile.
He smiled, and his hand traveled down her bare body, causing her to shiver. "And I'm going to spend the rest of eternity showing you how much you mean to me, Caroline." He whispered, in a sultry voice.
Caroline shivered at his tone. "You are my last, Niklaus." She whispered, in a husky tone, scooting towards him, feeling his arms wrap around her as he laid down on his back, and she gazed down at him. "You're my forever love, and I'm never going to let you go." She added, with a shake of her head.
Klaus smiled at her conviction. "As you are mine, Caroline, as you are mine." He whispered, bringing her head down to his.
~X~
The next morning, Klaus and Caroline received a few visitors. Klaus clutched Caroline tightly to his side, as they gazed at the company in the great hall. Both of their mothers, dressed in their traditional robes, and the Bennetts, dressed in their beige dresses, stood before them with mixture of serious and joyous looks on their faces.
Caroline glanced at Klaus, and let him go for a moment to hug her mother with open arms. She smiled through her tears as she held her mother tightly.
"I've missed you, mother." She whispered, with a tearful laugh.
Liz smiled and hugged her daughter close. "I've missed you too, my dear." She whispered, in return. She glanced past Caroline's shoulder and saw Esther hug Klaus with the same energy.
"I'm so proud of you, my son." Esther whispered, holding him tight.
Klaus felt emotion in the back of his throat. "Thank you, mother." He whispered in return.
Esther pulled back and smiled at her son. "It's over now." She stated, firmly, though it sounded like a question.
Klaus nodded. "It is. Mikael is dead." He stated with certainty.
The Bennetts approached the foursome, and smiled as they clasped their hands in front of them.
"Congratulations Niklaus and Caroline." Ayanna replied, looking at both of them.
Klaus pulled away from his mother, and reached for Caroline. Caroline moved to her husband, and held onto his left arm.
"We are so proud of you both for following your hearts and staying true to each other." Ayanna continued, with a smile.
Klaus glanced at Caroline with a spark in his eyes. "Thank you, Bennett." Klaus remarked, turning his gaze to the women.
"We understand that you have duties and obligations to tend to, so we will return, but we just wanted to let you know that the darkness is destroyed, thanks to you both, and now it shall never return again." Ayanna remarked, with a solemn look.
Caroline smiled politely, but kept her hand on Klaus' arm. She didn't say a word as her head bowed towards the Bennetts.
Ayanna smiled, and turned away from them. "For what it's worth," She began, turning her head to look at the couple. "You two will spend the rest of eternity together. Use it wisely." She stated, with a suspicious gleam in her eyes.
Caroline and Klaus glanced at each other, both wondering what she meant at the end. Caroline smiled and practically jumped in Klaus' waiting arms, laughing as he spun her around. So much joy filled her being at the prospect that now she could live with Klaus in peace, and be happy for all eternity. It was all she ever dreamed of.
Liz turned to Esther as they watched their children laugh together. "Should we tell them what we know?" She asked, with joy in her voice.
Esther shook her head with a smile. "Let's wait for a while. After all, there are preparations that need to be made." She stated, in a low tone.
Liz nodded and smiled, turning her gaze to her daughter who was now kissing her husband. "She will be so happy." She remarked with a light heart.
Esther nodded in agreement. "They both will, considering what they had to go through to get here, this will be another little light to add to their joy." She remarked, smiling.
"I agree. Besides my daughter is smart, she will figure it out soon enough." Liz stated, with a smile.
Esther clasped her hands together. "How long did the Bennetts say?" She asked, glancing at Liz.
Liz smiled brighter. "They said conception was last night, so nine months from now." She remarked, in a low whisper.
Esther nodded and touched Liz's hand with hers. "We're going to be grandmothers." She whispered, with a smile.
"Did you ever imagine it would happen?" Liz asked, gazing at their children.
"I knew Niklaus would find someone, but I wasn't sure when, until the Bennetts told me about your daughter." Esther replied, watching her son with joy on her face.
"We are lucky they found each other." Liz remarked, smiling at the scene before them.
"We are or they are?" Esther asked with a smile.
Liz chuckled and glanced at Esther. "Both." She stated as matter of fact.
Esther nodded. "That we are." She replied, wrapping her arm around Liz's shoulders. "That we are."
What did you think? PLEASE NO HARSH COMMENTS!
I know I sprung the ending on you, but I wanted to leave it somewhat open for the next story!
If you are interested, the next story, actually going to be published tomorrow, (December 9), is entitled Undercover Marshal (modern AU/AH). Here is a sneak peak!
Klaus kept his face stoic as he heard the charges continue on, but his mind didn't comprehend the words.
It had been two months since his incarceration. Two months away from his family, away from her. He knew she couldn't visit him. Her job forbade such an act, but he couldn't help but hope.
He wanted to laugh. Hope. What good could that possibly do now? He was being tried for running guns into the United States, and for murdering people, he never really knew. Sure he had killed, in his line of work it was to be expected, but he never left the bodies to be found. These people, he hadn't touched.
Even she knew that. How could they have gotten those murders pinned on him? Surely she told them. Though, he wasn't sure how much she had told them. As she had told him before her work came first, but then, what was she doing here? Was she here to gloat at her victory? Capturing the Hybrid? Her superiors must be very proud of her. He knew he was, though he would never admit it.
And why wasn't he being charged with the murders he had committed? Or worse? He closed his eyes. None of the charges made much sense, except the weapons charge. Still he couldn't fathom the depth of his crimes. It was unthinkable at what they were charging.
He had run weapons successfully for almost seven years, and never once had gotten caught, until her. He supposed it was his time to be caught, and caught by a woman, nonetheless. Irony didn't even cover it. The Hybrid weakened by a woman, and not just any woman, a rookie U.S. Marshal to boot.
He smirked silently as he thought of the woman in the back bench. Only she would come. He didn't know if she was supposed to testify, and how could he blame her if she did? It was her job, as was his when she revealed herself, finally. His job or instinct was to kill her at the moment, but he couldn't. He had spared her, and why? Because he cared, that's why. He lifted his chained wrists to his left shoulder where it rested. He knew she would see his movements. He knew she was watching.
Lowering his hands, he closed his eyes as his attorney stood up and began his speech. He wished he could look behind him, but he couldn't. Not even for her.
As the speeches came to a close, he listened as the judge reviewed the case in his hands.
"Due to the evidence before me, and the witness testimonies, which are to be given, and the prisoner's competence," He remarked, glancing at the prisoner. "I set the trial to begin two days from now at 8 o'clock in the morning." He stated, lifting his gavel and dropped it on the small wooden plank.
Klaus sighed as he stood as the judge left the room, and waited for the guards to come to lead him away. He dared to glance back in the back bench, and sighed as he didn't see her.
She had left him. He should have known it was too much to hope for her to stay. As they led him back to his jail cell, he sighed. They removed the manacles around his wrists and ankles, before they closed the door.
He shook his head when they left him alone, and sat on his small cot.
He kept his head down when the door to cell block opened and quickly closed. He figured it was his lawyer coming to go over the details of the trial set before him, but when a familiar sound caught him, he lifted his head.
His eyes widened as he took her in, dressed in a grey business suit, which accentuated every curve of her body, which he remembered oh so well. Her blonde hair was hanging down her shoulders and her eyes held the light that only shown when she looked at him. Slowly standing up, he walked to the bars, and stared into her eyes.
"Why are you here?" He ground out, searching her eyes.
She sighed, and lifted her hands to the bars to gently grasp them. "To see you." She whispered, softly.
I hope you all check it out!
