I know, I know finally an update. I was on a week long youth conference trip and I believe my muse has stayed in Indiana. I had a terribly hard time writing this chapter so I hope you like it. Thank you all for your idea's and your support. It really helped. An extra thanks to Le Trex who always gives me good ideas. I know this chapter is really short so I hope to have another chapter up really soon. ENJOY!
The letter
Hermione was in shock. She didn't know what she was going to do.
She wanted to be out of the bed. She wanted to be out there searching for her children. She wanted to rip Lucius limb from limb.
She knew she had to go, but where? Suddenly, she jumped out of the bed and began to run down the hallway.
She didn't care where she went, she just had to go.
She heard screaming behind her. She knew it was Draco trying to catch her, but she couldn't stop. She needed to find them.
Suddenly, she felt her knees give out and she fell to the floor. She was so exhausted she could barely move. Then she realized she was sobbing.
She felt herself being pulled into someones arms. She looked up into Draco's eyes. He was crying with her.
"Hermione, please, you've just had triplets. You can't do this. You are going to kill yourself."
The sobs were racking her body so much, Hermione couldn't speak.
Finally she sucked in a breath. "Draco, why would he do this? Why would he kidnap his own grandchildren?"
Draco looked down at Hermione. He didn't know what to say.
He pushed back a piece of hair that was stuck to her face. "Hermione, I don't know. I just know that I will find our children, and I will kill him, I swear. But Hermione, you have to promise me you will not do anything like this again. I can't risk losing you."
Hermione shook her head. "No Draco, I have to be with you looking for them. I'm their mother. I have to come."
Draco just squeezed her tighter. "Hermione, you just gave birth to triplets. You may be a very powerful witch and a war hero, but you can't do everything."
Hermione nodded. He could see the defeat in her eyes. He then picked her up in his arms and began carrying her back to bed.
By that time, the order had arrived.
When Draco stepped into the room carrying Hermione, Ron and Harry both ran to them.
Ron looked at her as if she had gone mad. "Hermione, what the hell? You could have killed yourself!"
Harry nodded. "Hermione, what where you thinking? You scared us to death"
Hermione just buried her head into Draco's chest.
Draco sighed. "Just leave her be guys, she's already under enough stress. She doesn't need you yelling at her."
Ron and Harry both looked ashamed. Draco placed Hermione on the bed and laid down beside her, pulling her to him.
Draco's mother then arrived. Draco beckoned her over them.
"Mother, he's alive."
Narsicca looked at him quizzically, "Who's alive, darling?"
Draco swallowed and looked into her eyes. "Father. He was the one that took the children. I saw him. His blond hair is unmistakable. I think he wanted me to know that he was the one who took them. They waited until Harry, Ron, Blaise, and I arrived to apperate from the nursery."
Professor Dumbledore cleared his throat. "They did not just kill the children, so they must have some plan."
Just then one of the healers' assistants who survived the attack came in. He was carrying a potion.
"Mrs. Malfoy, I need you to drink this. It will calm you down."
Hermione nodded and took the vile. It was only a moment before she was out cold.
Draco looked at the assistant who smiled. "I saw the episode with her running down the hallway. I knew she might try it again and it would be easier for you to find out what is going on without a hysterical mother running through the hallways."
Draco smiled and thanked the assistant, who then left.
Everyone began to speak over one another trying to figure out what happened and where Lucius had taken the babies.
After discussing a few options, people began to disappear. They left to begin searching, trying to find some answers.
In just a few moments only Professor Snape, Professor Dumbledore, and Narsicca remained.
Suddenly an owl came flying at Draco and dropped a letter into his hands.
He recognized his family crest in the wax sealing the envelope. He swallowed and opened the letter.
Draco,
As my son, you have failed me and failed the Dark Lord. However, I am willing to forgive you and let you back into my good graces. I will spare each one of these mistakes as long as you follow everything I have to say.
I will give you back your son, Ladon, if your agree to divorce that horrid mudblood. I can not believe you have tainted our bloodline the way you have.
I will give you back your daughter, Aphrodite, if you return your inheritance back to me.
I will give you back your son, Ares, if you make the Unbreakable Vow to become loyal to me and help me act out the Dark Lord's final wishes.
These are the only ways I will spare their lives.
Your Father,
Lucius
Draco's hands began to shake as he read the letter. He knew that if he did not go through with his father's wishes, Lucius would kill the children. But there was no way he could do any of what Lucius demanded. He could not leave Hermione. and he would not become loyal to his father.
Suddenly someone cleared their throat. Draco looked up to see Professor Snape standing over him.
"Are you alright, Draco?"
Draco realized then that he had began to cry again.
He said nothing and handed the professor the letter. Professor Snape read it silently and sighed when he was finished.
"We will find a way around this. We will get your children back if it's the last thing I do, Draco."
Draco nodded, then wiped his eyes. He needed to be strong for Hermione, for his children.
Draco handed over the letter to Professor Dumbledore to read. When he was finished he handed it to Narsicca.
Narsicca began to cry. "How could he do this to his own grandchildren? Why is he so cold hearted? I just don't understand."
Draco hugged his mother. "It is the Dark Lord's ideas that have him brainwashed. He truly believes Hermione and our children are an abomination to the wizard race. I just don't understand why he would take such ideas from someone who was a half blood himself."
Professor Snape sneered. "They were all brainwashed, everyone of them. I could never understand it myself."
Draco cleared his throat. "So what should I do?"
Professor Dumbeldore sighed. "I can't tell you that, Draco. You have to make your own decision."
Draco nodded, then looked to Hermione. She was still asleep and would be for a few hours. He couldn't tell Hermione about the letter. She would freak out and demand that he divorce her so that their children would be safe.
The professors and his mother decided to leave for a while to give Draco some privacy.
Draco sat in the chair watching Hermione sleep for what seemed like eternity. What was he going to do?
Hope you enjoyed. Please review!
