(The Next Day)
The next day Sumi was busy reading some books, trying to keep his mind occupied. But as he did all he did was frown because all he could think of was the Sketchbook that Cray had.
"Ugh this is just boring" Sai said
"No its not" Sumi said
"Come on, I'm in your head all the time I know what you think and how you feel" Sai said
Sumi just kept silent and then closed the book and then layed back down
"Do you seriously not want to think about me that much?" Sai said
Sumi was just silent
"Look..." Sai Said
"WILL YOU PLEASE STOP! I'M SICK OF REMEMBERING IT!" Sumi yelled
" YOUR SICK OF REMEMBERING ALOT OF THINGS! WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT THEN!? ITS NOT LIKE I'M FORCING YOU TO BE STUCK HERE!" Sai yelled
"ITS NOT THAT SIMPLE!...you were the only friend I had." Sumi said
Sai then sat by Sumi
"Well then why not do something about that?" Sai said
"I'm...Scared" Sumi said
"Scared of what?" Sai said
"What if he doesn't want me as a Friend?" Sumi said
"You won't know until you find out" Sai said
Cray was sitting down in his Separate room as he was getting ready to Paint, he was busy setting up everything as he laid out the Brushes, Paint, canvas etc.
Alright just about ready..Okay now I can't have any interruptions, this needs to be perfect" Cray said to himself as he sat onto his chair as he went to pick up the brush.
Knock Knock!
Cray then flinched and grunted in annoyance, and then he went to open the door
"Yes" Cray said
there was no one there.
"Okay?" Cray said confused as he closed the door and picked up the Brush again
"Knock, Knock,
"Come on" Cray said as he got up again
What is it?" Cray said in a annoyed tone
again there was just silence there was no one there.
Cray then just slammed the door Sumi then peaked through the corner,
"Come on, Come on you can do it." Sumi said as he was building up the courage.
"Okay, Okay...Here I go" Sumi said as he walked towards the door again.
"Knock Knock!"
WHAAAAAAAAT!?" Cray yelled at the top of his lungs as he quickly opened the door.
"There was then a puff of smoke, which caught Cray by surprise and then as he looked down he saw a Paintbrush.
"Sumi?" Cray said as he picked up the paintbrush
Silence
"was that you that was knocking on the door?" cray said
Silence
"Look I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell like that, will you please revert back" Cray said
(Poof)
Sumi then appeared back in his form
"Sorry I didn't mean to bug you, I was just nervous" Sumi said
"Why are you here anyway?" Cray said
"Well I...was bored and I wanted someone to hang out with," Sumi said
"Gee well Sumi I'm sorry but I'm currently working on something right now and its going to take all day" Cray said
"I know that, but...but can I well watch you" Sumi said
Cray then just threw a confused look
"you want to watch me Paint?" Cray said
"Yeah, I sometimes like to watch Iza paint from time to time and since she's currently busy with the ship I don't really have that luxury So can I watch you?" Sumi said
"uhhh...Sure I guess" Cray said
"Well so far so good" Sai said
Be Quiet" Sumi said silently
"Well theirs plenty of places for you to sit and watch, take one" Cray said as he went back to his canvas and sat down, ready to paint, and then as he put the brush into the paint he then looked to his side and saw Sumi sitting on the ground staring intensely to the Canvas"
Uh Sumi?" Cray said
"Yeah" Sumi said
"What are you doing?" Cray said
"You said to find a place to sit and watch and so I did" Sumi said nonchalantly
"Are you sure you don't want to sit somewhere comfortable instead of the floor?" Cray said
"No I'm good here" Sumi said
"Well alright" Cray said as he started to do his painting, Cray started with a nice shade of light blue and started to make a clear blue sky as he carefully started to evenly put it on. Sumi just looked on as he saw Cray paint as he heard the light sound of the brushes moving on the canvas, he slowly closed his eyes and listened as his tail moved naturally along with the same pace as the brush.
(flashback)
"There finished" Sai said as he had Sumi in his paintbrush form in his hand and then put him down
Sumi then poofed back.
"Wow this looks really good...are you sure you won't get in trouble for this like last time?" Sumi said
"Well its to late to think about that now" Sai said
How long do you think till we can get to the next island?" Sumi said
"It should only be a day or two I think" Sai said
Uh Sai I was wondering...Can I go up outside now?" Sumi said
"What? what do you mean you have been outside" Sai said
"Yeah but only at night or when I'm in your pocket, I want to go out there during the day as this" Sumi said
"Sumi you know thats a bad idea? do you have any idea what they'll do to you if they catch you?" Sai said
"I know that but I just want to feel the sun on my face...its been so long" Sumi said
"I'm sorry Sumi but its to risky" Sai said
Sumi then just sat down with his head down ready to cry.
"Sumi..."Sai said
Sumi just got up and went back behind the Crates and Barrels.
Sai then just got up and walked out of the storage.
(Later)
"Quit lounging around and put that food away!"
"Yes Sir" Sai said
As he was walking down towards the storage room on the ship
"Hey Sumi I managed to get you a squid, Your favorite" Sai said
There was silence
"Sumi?" Sai said
Sai then looked behind the Barrels and couldn't find Sumi anywhere,
"Sumi!?" Sai said as he dropped the food and started to look around for him
"Oh no" Sai said as he ran out of the storage room
"Idiot, Idiot, Sumi what are you doing?" Sai said to himself as he was running around
Sai then looked and started to look around on the top level of the ship and to make sure he doesn't cause suspicion he tried to be as calm as possible as he walked by other crew members,
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!?" The Captain yelled
Sai eyes went wide open
"Oh no! Sumi" Sai said
Sai quickly Ran towards the noise as pretty much everyone went to check out what was going on and as Sai looked he noticed a huge paint Mess on the back of the ship.
"HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!?" Someone yelled
"GET THIS CLEANED UP RIGHT NOW! I DON'T CARE HOW MANY PEOPLE DO IT!?" The Captain yelled
Sai quickly backed up so that way he's not dragged into the cleaning and continued looking for Sumi, Sai looked everywhere but still no sign of him and then as he looked up he noticed a small figure sitting at the very very tip of the Crows nest, Luckily no one was up there at the moment but he knew it wouldn't be for long, So Sai quickly started to go up the crows nest,
Sumi had his eyes closed as he smelled the Ocean and feeling the nice warm sun on his fur, after being stuck in the storage for almost two weeks,
"SUMI!" Sai yelled
Sumi quickly jolted and almost fell off but was able to keep his balance Sumi looked down and saw Sai,
"Sai?" Sumi said
"What are you doing get down from there right now!" Sai said
"Just a couple more minutes!" Sumi said
"No Sumi NOW! "Sai yelled
Sumi just sighed sadly
"Okay" Sumi said
Sumi then started to slowly come down in Sai's arm as he quickly turned into his paintbrush form,
Sai then quickly tried to make it towards the bottom layer of the ship until he was caught by the Captain
"SAI!? What are you doing!? I specifically told everyone to go and get that mess cleaned up!"The Captain said grabbing the boys hand
"Wait!?" Sai yelled
"No Now!? and get rid of that stupid Paint brush!" the Captain yelled grabbing the the Paintbrush and throwing it towards a wall causing Sumi to poof back to his real form.
"Ouch!" Sumi cried
What the hell is that thing!?"The Captain yelled
"Oh no" sumi said
"Wait I can explain!" Sai yelled
"You stowedaway an animal!?" The Captain yelled.
Sumi then quickly started running away only to be stopped by a couple more people Sumi out of hesitation quickly formem a large Paint arm out of his tail
Sumi No!" sai yelled
Sumi then felt a painful struck at the back of his head as he fell down hearing Sai scream out his name
(End of Flashback)
Sumi! Hey Sumi!" Cray yelled
Sumi then quickly opened his eyes as he looked up at Cray who was looking at him with a concerned look,
"Are you okay?" Cray said
"Huh?" Sumi said confused
"You were slamming your tail down again and again like crazy" Cray said
"Oh uh yeah i'm fine, I was just lost in thought about something" Sumi said trying to stay calm
"Was it something bad?" Cray said
Sumi just stayed silent.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Cray said
Sumi continued to stay silent
"Look if you need to..." Cray said
"I SAID I'M FINE OKAY! JUST DROP IT!" Sumi yelled and then after knowing what he just did Sumi quickly covered his mouth Leaving Cray kind of thrown back at his outburst.
"I..." Sumi staggered and then he quickly got up and started to run off
"Sumi Wait!" Cray yelled
"What are you doing go back!" Sai said
"NO! I'm done" Sumi said
"What do you mean done your were doing well" Sai said
"did that look like I did well? "Sumi said
"You just became agitated maybe if you just apologize" Sai said"
"Just leave me alone" Sumi said
"You know what? Forget it if you want to stay isolated for the rest of your life then fine by me" Sai said upsettingly
Sumi then just sat down on the side of the Canal as he looked down at the water seeing his reflection.
"In the middle of something?"
Sumi quickly turned around and noticed Cray standing behind him
"Cray...Why are you here" Sumi said
"Cray then went to sit beside him,
"Well I wanted to make sure you were doing okay" Cray said
"Why?" Sumi said still looking down
"Well I always like to look after my friends when there in trouble" Cray said
Sumi's eyes went wide.
"Friend?" Sumi said confused
"Well yeah we are friends aren't we?" Cray said
Sumi was just silent kind shocked and surprised
"I'm Sorry...I didn't mean to yell like that back there" Sumi said
"Don't worry about it I'm sure you didn't mean it" Cray said
They then sat there for a good minute until one of them decided it was to quiet.
"Well if your alright I'm gonna head back, I'll catch you later" Cray said as he got up ready to walk up
"Wait a minute!" Sumi said
"Yeah" Cray said turning around
Sumi then started to nervously walk towards him
"Listen I need to tell you the truth about the real reason why I came by" Sumi said
"Oh...and what is that?" Cray said
"Well I was wondering since your still working on your painting, I was wondering if...I could...Well.. You know.." Sumi said
"You want to help me paint my first painting?" Cray said
"Um...Yeah I would really like that...but if you don;t want me to help I completely underst.." Sumi
"Okay" Cray said nonchalantly
"Re...Really?" Sumi said
"Well yeah why not" Cray said
Sumi then flashed a huge smile,
(Back at Galley-Las head Qaurters)
Cray then sat on his chair near his Canvas, With Sumi standing by Cray had a small Portion of the Painting done,
"This will probably take hours Sumi, are you sure your up for this?" Cray said
"I helped Iza with her paintings all the time, this will be easy" Sumi said
"Well okay, lets get to painting!" Cray said in the most exaggerating way possible
Sumi quickly jumped into the air and poofed into his Paint brush form, right into Crays hand, Cray then started by Adding more Light blue onto the top of the Canvas, After that he then started to add white to the light blue sky to make even and odd shaped clouds, he then put Sumi down and then started using a flat brush to start painting the bottom part with a nice shade of Dark Blue. as the hours rolled by, Cray used pretty much everything at his disposal, Cray couldn't help but smile as his Painting was getting closer and closer to completion and as he was Painting the final piece of it, he started crying as he carefully painted each and every little thing to it right down to the tiniest detail.
(Sunset)
"And...There, finished" Cray said as he dunked the tip of the paintbrush into the water and then putting it down on the ground
"Sumi then poofed back into his Fox form, he then started to shake his tail rapidly to get any Excess water off of it.
"So what do you think?" Cray said as he took a few steps back from the painting standing by Sumi, Sumi's eyes then smiled.
"This is amazing, you did a great job on this, I'm sure the rest of them are going to like it to" Sumi said
"Well I don't deserve all the credit, you helped to" Cray said
"Well...Yeah you have a point there" Sumi said
Cray then decided to hide it away until the time was right.
"I'll show it to them once we have our new ship it would make perfect addition to it" Cray said
"You are definitely right about that" Sumi said
"We do make a good team huh?" Cray said
"Well it was only just one painting" Sumi said
"Well...maybe..." Cray said
"Well maybe what?" Sumi said
"Well Maybe...It doesn't have to be just one painting" Cray said
Sumi was then thrown back.
"What do you mean?" Sumi said
"I mean why don't you...Come along with us?" Cray said
"What?" Sumi said
"why not come with us? I'm Sure Luffy would be thrilled to have you in as part of the crew, I know he asked you before a while back and..." Cray said
"Whoawhoawhao wait a minute, "you" want me...to become a pirate?...I...I don't know" Sumi said as he started to back away
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable about it, All I'm saying is if you want to join all you have to do ask Luffy, the choice is up to you" Cray said
Sumi then put his head down, as he was lost in thought.
"I...I need to think about it...I'll see you later" Sumi said as he walked out the door leaving Cray alone in the room
