Chapter Twenty four

Lunch was fun for Harry as he enjoyed his pizza and had a dozen different people come in to see him as he and Owen waited on his dad.

"… and Dad thinks I might be able to learn how to Travel like he does. I can feel how he does it some and it might be a blood thing. If so, when I'm old enough… you'd have two people working here who can go anywhere in the world for you."

Owen nodded as he ate some salad.

"Really… well that would be something. For years it's just been Alex and I have felt bad for monopolizing him that way. He is a big help when it's an emergency… being able to teleport the way he does and rescue people or move wounded. Regular Teleportation is very jarring on the body and sometimes the injured arrive hurt more than we'd like."

Harry nodded as he swallowed a bite of pizza.

"That makes sense. Traveling is like flying through a cold snowy place. You just float there as you are pulled along. You don't get bounced about or anything like that. That would be much safer for someone who is hurt."

Owen nodded as Alex entered the cafeteria.

"All done. I helped them get everything fixed. There was a flaw in the third matrix and someone replaced a few of the focusing crystals with fakes."

Owen frowned at that.

"I'll have to check security footage to see who would do that. If we have a thief… that's one thing, because those crystals are basically diamonds with a few changes… but if it was sabotage, that's something else entirely."

Alex nodded as he watched Harry finish his pizza.

"Ready to go son?"

Harry nodded.

"Thanks for showing me everything, Owen, and for the pizza."

Owen smiled.

"Anytime kiddo. You two have a safe trip home."

Harry smiled as he and his dad headed back down to the arrival and departure platforms to leave. They waited for the pad to empty then Alex opened the tunnel and Traveled them home.

Morrigan Household

A dot of light formed in the back yard and slowly opened into the tunnel… letting Alex and Harry emerge.

"I'm going to go back to sorting my books. Thanks Dad."

Harry waved to his Dad as he ran back up to his room. Alex laughed and watched him go before heading inside. He found Alisa making dinner.

"Everything go okay?"

Alex kissed her and smiled, nodding.

"Small problem to fix but it might have uncovered a bigger crime. Might be someone infiltrated the Order and sabotaged us. Owen's going to look into it."

Alisa frowned but nodded.

"How was Harry?"

Alex smiled.

"He was good. He had a lot of fun and I learned a few things from him… and learned some things about him too."

Raising an eyebrow Alisa stared at her husband.

"Oh, do tell."

Alex grinned.

"The shadows touched Harry. He might, one day, be able to Travel on his own."

Alisa shivered and Alex wrapped his arms around her.

"He's too young… he shouldn't be doing that."

Alex kissed the top of her head.

"I was his age the first time I Traveled. It's how Grandmother found me. I had no idea what I was doing or what was happening to me. If I hadn't found her… I could have ended up in a very bad place. Thankfully she found me and guided me in how to Travel safely, even if she couldn't do it herself."

Alex looked into her eyes.

"I didn't have a someone who could do it to learn from… but Harry does. He can learn from my mistakes in a safe environment."

Alisa nodded.

"I know… but I still don't like it."

Alex kissed her lips softly.

"He will do it on his own one day. It's the nature of shadow magic. It will move him at some point. Better to have me teach him than for him to do it in an emergency and end up on the other side of the world with no way home."

Alex smiled and looked around.

"Where are Evan and Maria?"

Alisa smiled.

"Asleep. It took forever to get them to take a nap today."

Alex smirked.

"So they're asleep… and Harry is busy with his books… how is dinner coming? Will it be ruined if it was left alone for awhile?"

Alisa smirked and shook her head.

"I just have to pop it into the oven to make. It needs an hour… so no, things would be fine for at least 45 minutes."

Grinning evilly, Alex nibbled his wife's neck as she giggled.

"Okay you… give me a minute."

Alisa put their dinner into the over and set the timer then laughed as Alex scooped her up and carried her off to be naughty.

Harry's Room

Harry was busy moving books from the stack he'd made earlier to his bookshelves.

"Hmm… and put this one here… and this one there… but this one doesn't fit my sorting system. I'm going to need another bookshelf."

Harry heard a thump from his parent's bedroom followed by giggling. Rolling his eyes he laughed and crawled on top of his bed to read.

"Going to end up with another brother or sister at this rate…"

Smirking, Harry opened an old leather bound book and began to read. As he lost himself in what appeared to be a diary of his birth grandmother Dorea Black, he became oblivious to everything around him. Enjoying the story of her life, Harry failed to hear the soft slither of something under his bed.

#He's home… now… to move slowly...#

Sliding out from under the bed, the silvery material curled into a lump of fabric then extending itself… grabbed onto the bottom of the bed and slowly crawled up onto the bedspread.

#Move slowly… don't let him see you...#

Inching toward Harry's oblivious form, the cloak slid up closer… and closer…

Harry shivered at that moment and reached around blindly for a blanket.

"Getting chilly in here…"

Seeing this as the perfect opportunity, the cloak moved closer until Harry's fingers brushed against it… then pulled it over his legs and waist.

"Better…"

Draped across his body, the cloak slowly stretched itself out and focused on Harry.

#Relax… sleep… close your eyes… sleep...#

Harry took a deep breath and yawned. He could still hear his parents in their bedroom and blinked sleepy eyes.

"They'll wake me up for dinner. I can take a small nap…"

Closing his eyes, Harry slid down in his bed a bit and lowered the book onto his chest. Within seconds he drifted off to sleep… all the while being watched by the cloak.

#Yes… sleep… sleep and open up yourself to me...#

Once it appeared that Harry was indeed asleep… the cloak slid the rest of the way up his body and slowly began to sink into his skin. As it connected with Harry's body… it felt something familiar.

#Brother… you're here as well? Reunited once again.#

The ring flashed visible for a moment then returned to it's invisible state.

#Yes… continue brother… we can talk later...#

The cloak continued to sink into Harry's skin until it was fully inside his body. A shimmer passed down the length of Harry's body and he went invisible. The bed looked empty… no shimmer of a disillusionment charm… nor any imprint of his body on the bed itself. Full invisibility.

#Connection complete…#

Harry reappeared as the two brothers moved deeper into the back of his mind to chat. He slept on, unaware, until he heard a knock on his door. Opening his eyes, Harry blinked a few times.

"Yes?"

He heard his mom's happy voice from the other side of his door.

"Dinner's ready honey. Wash your hands and come downstairs."

Harry nodded.

"Okay… be right there."

He stretched and headed to his bathroom. As he looked in the mirror… he thought for a moment that his eyes were silver… but then once he blinked, he saw they were still emerald.

"Weird… do I have a new color now?"

Splashing some water on his face, he shrugged and blinked a few more times then headed downstairs to eat. As he reached the kitchen, he smirked at the happy grins on his parents' faces.

"Have a good nap?"

Harry nodded to his father.

"Not too bad… was a bit noisy at first with the giggling and squeaking sounds. I think someone was bouncing on their bed."

Alisa blushed and giggled.

"Yes… that would be difficult to sleep while hearing."

Harry smiled at her as she placed a roast on the table.

"It wasn't so bad. I'm just glad someone was happy and having fun. You and dad look pretty happy mom."

Alex laughed and ruffled Harry's hair.

"Okay… let's all eat… oh and Harry, your Uncle Roman called while you were asleep. He's leading a camp of sorts for the next month or two and wanted to invite you. He'll be teaching survival skills to some teenage interns with the Order and thought you might have fun. If you'd like to go… your mother and I already approve."

Harry's eyes widened in shock.

"I'd love to go… but where will it be?"

Alisa placed a plate of roast, potatoes and carrots in front of him.

"It's in New Zealand. Normally I wouldn't like you being so far away… but Roman is family, so this is different."

New Zealand… that was really far away. Harry thought about it for a bit then nodded.

"I want to go. Can I call Uncle Roman after dinner and let him know I'm going?"

Alex nodded.

"Yes… but we figured you'd say yes and he'll be here tomorrow morning to pick you up. He's coming with a young woman he met recently who can teleport long distances. Her name is Clarice Ferguson… but Roman just calls her Blink. They will take you to the camp."

Harry nodded and smiled.

"I'll pack tonight then. You said a month or two… should I pack that much clothing or enough to get by if I wash them often?"

Alisa chewed on her lip as she thought.

"I'd say a little more than a week's worth. That should give you enough to get by without having to clean them too often."

Alex nodded.

"You can use your new satchel and have plenty of room for everything."

Harry smiled.

"I can bring books, tools, food and all sorts of things in that. That's a great idea."

Alex nodded and began eating.

"Wonderful… but you need to eat the delicious meal your mother made first, young man."

Harry smirked and nodded as he dug into his meal… his mind eager to plan out what he was taking with him. Two months with Uncle Roman and teenagers that might be like him. It sounded like so much fun.
