Marceline POV
Bonnie and I tracked down Finn as he pursued Tyrone, the strongest of the guardians. I looked at her, she wore a grey robe contrasting with her pink skin, and her face is cemented with a stoic expression which made me feel slightly uncomfortable but still familiar. "Focus, Marceline." "Huh?" I switched my face to the front and I saw huge debris flying towards us. I had great trouble trying to evade, while Bonnie passed through the objects without problems. "Show off." I muttered under my breath. "Perks if being dead I guess, though it has its fair share of hassles."
After her short dialogue, I kept quiet for a minute then I remembered what she did back in Seph's place. "How was the kiss?" I asked her, with a mix of teasing and hurt. I admit I was jealous with her being the first who kissed Finn after he took a trip to glob knows where. "It was repulsive, bitter at best." "THE FUCK!?" I was about to stop but she pulled me along the debris. "I didn't mean to do that to Finn, I was forced to take his..." "His what?" At that we stopped entirely she looked at me with heavy eyes.
"I took his immortality."
"Calm down Marceline." "HOW, HOW CAN I? TELL ME!" I swung at her for the last time and I breathed heavily to avoid further exhaustion. "Are you done? Let's go and help Finn." "I'll get back at you for this." I took her hand which she extended to help me and as we flew again she said, "I'll be ready." We picked up the pace since the commotion earlier cost us a bit of time, I managed to lock on Finn's location using his scent and by the time we arrived the place was torn up.
The walls were crumbling from having huge gaps in them and the floor had craters, probably from Finn's attacks. "Having your maidens come to battle with you, what a shame." It was so infuriating, I can't believe he just said that. "Don't listen to him you two, go back and leave us be." "Say that to yourself, I didn't come here just to be ordered around." "I SAID GO!" Finn turned to look at us and there I saw, his blue and red irises were highlighted by how dark his sclera became. "I'll buy you time, go change Finn's mind."
I nodded and as we leapt into battle Bonnie pushed Tyrone back while I struggled trying to get to Finn. He pushed me away again and again, without my healing it would be impossible to go on but as I come closer and closer his expression became more poignant. "Finn, stop, I know it's been hard for us. I haven't been helpful myself with you fighting against your very own fate but..." he let his guard down, an opportunity I took to go for him. Before he could attack again I held him tightly crying.
Finn POV
Marcy was crying, and I don't know why. She had wounds around her limbs, I don't know what happened but as I stare at it further my eyes began tearing up. My tears reached down her head, prompting her to look up. She wiped away her tears and held my face close to hers. "Just look at me don't mind these scars." She said with the sweetest smile I saw her make. But looking close at her face made me remember what I did just right before this moment. "I did this..." "No, no, no don't blame yourself for this."
"How can-" "It's nice and all but let's finish this fight first!" I turned and PB was there fighting Tyrone. I pulled Marcy up, embraced her tightly and I showered her with kisses. "We'll continue this later." I told her. "I'll be waiting." She said playfully. We went at the same time and struck Tyrone down while he was kept busy by PB. He quickly recovers and unleashed a burst of energy right at us, I tired block the attack with a dark shield. It held up for a good minute or so but as it progresses the shield started cracking.
I pushed the two away from me just as the shield broke completely, A blinding light pierced my eyes and as I fell to the ground I saw Marcy and PB held hostage by Tyrone. "You should have stopped them harder Finn, this is just the beginning." "I won't let you." He tightened the grip on their necks, "Not really a threat for me." PB said. But she yelped when he tightened it more. "I'll use the energy I have in me to destroy your very existence." Marcy's eyes widened and that's when I knew it was real.
I stood up to face him. I felt the brunt of the attacks from him and he wasn't even using his hands to fight. I felt everything in my body revolt against what I am doing, I started blacking out, and I could hear the dark voice laughing triumphantly as I fell on my knees. "F..." "What was that?" Tyrone questioned. "Fuck off you monster, I'll handle this on my own!" I concentrated all my power inside me and in time I let the power flow instantaneously. My body became lighter and I moved fast.
I drove the blade of my shadow sword to Tyrone who was shocked having realized what happened, I grabbed PB and Marcy which were dropped unconscious. I took them far back and I tugged my right arm to retrieve my sword embedded to Tyrone's torso. "What did you do to me!?" he said while holding the gap in his body which had no sign of repairing. I placed a little something inside you, since your power is energy itself I sealed it away. I walked slowly to him and I held my sword on his neck. "While they're unconscious..."
Third Person View
"What happened? It was all blurry and I... Finn!" Marceline looked to her right. It was Bubblegum looking at her with a relieved face, her expression had changed back into the compassionate friend she always knew. "Hunson, Marceline is awake!" she yelled with excitement. "Really!? I knew it, daddy's little monster can't possibly be deterred by that small fry." "I wouldn't exactly call Tyrone a small fry, sir." Huntress interrupted with all carefulness as to not lose her soul right then and there. "C'mon, we took care of it, you can't deny that." "Yes but we... Never mind, forget it."
Flashback Start
Finn, after retrieving his sword, lunges at Tyrone. "I'll take you to some of my friends." Finn opens a portal and the two landed in front of Hunson and Huntress who were both surprised with his sudden drop. "Whoa boy, what do we have here?" "Give him a soul." "What now?" Hunson asked with surprise in his voice but Finn glared at him that he didn't ask again. After that Finn said, "Go to that portal, Marcy and PB are safe there." "You gonna be okay here?" Huntress asked. "I will, now go before the bad part starts." The two nodded and left.
A few seconds after the two left Finn fused the soul with Tyrone. "What is this, what did you do to me?" "A being with no sense of pain cannot be hurt, a soulless one. With that in you, I can make you feel all the pain you have caused me, my friends and others!" Finn drove the Shadow sword into Tyrone once again, making the guardian yelp with pain. "You can never get rid of us." He muttered under his breath with a withered voice. "I'll deal with your essence later, for now, your physical body needs to be rid of... and I know just how."
Flashback End
Finn sat in front of Tyrone's burning body as he cleans his blade, thinking to himself, he thought what he did was slightly overkill. "The soul thing was too much." After the fire died out Finn swept the ground and retrieved the gem of energy Tyrone left behind. Finn stood up and looked around and he saw another gem, it was Hugo's. "Hunson was ruthless as well on how he dealt with Hugo, but after what I did I could say he's lucky." Finn flew towards the portal and there he saw Marceline attacking Bubblegum while Huntress inspects Hunson who was lying face down on the floor.
Finn was dumbfounded with what he returned into. Maxwell, together with Grayson, came to the scene along with their two prisoners. "Quite the operation you guys have here." Samantha commented. "Finn stop those two, will you?" Finn's confusion was dispelled and he rushed to Marceline who was tearing the place up. "Marcy stop!" Finn flew to her and grabbed her by the shoulders. "Finn, she took you away! She made you mortal." Finn drew her close and said, "Yeah I know, I can't say that I'm not unhappy about it PB." "Sorry about that, and just call me Bonnie, I'm not a Princess anymore."
Finn POV
"So you can't reverse what you did?" I asked her. "She can't." Samantha reinforced. "What about my abilities? I can still fly and go invisible." "Death can't meddle with power itself." Maxwell answered. "Well that sucks. But with the power I have I'll have a few more decades ahead of me." I laughed heartily but the only response I had was silence and hunson's groan at the background. "Don't mind them Finn these guys are downers, you're right to look into it with positivity." Hunson shot up which startled us, he gave me a devious look which gave me the signal.
"Marcy go back to Ooo, Maxwell, Nico and Huntress will go with you as well." "Why won't you come with us!?" She asked, I couldn't help but feel sad but this meeting we need to have will determine Ooo's fate. "I'll follow in just a bit, I need to talk to your dad, after that we'll go places okay?" She was reluctant but Maxwell helped her decide. "Alright… you better prepare Finn, you and I have business with each other." She said playfully, which made me sweat feeling hunson's rage. As they leave, Maxwell gave me a sharp glare.
"She knows your plans Finn…" Bubblegum opened. "Doesn't matter, what matters are these two variables we have here." I turned to the surviving guardians, "Surrender your powers to me." "WHAT!? You should have killed us instead!" Alesse revolted. I smiled at her and I said, "I'm going to change what I said: Would you like a deal with the devil?" I explained my plan to them. It was a way to end the war they caused and atonement to what they did. Samantha agreed with it to some degree but Alesse still has questions. "How will you stop it? Last time I checked another mushroom war is on the way."'
"That is why I need your power, I'm not taking all of it. Along with your cooperation is a portion of your powers and as a bonus, a way to bring back your friends." "You monster, using the dead as bargaining chips." I reached out my hand to them and I said, "Do you not want to see your friends again? I have no ill intentions to you both, I just want Ooo back to what it was supposed to be." Samantha raised both of her hands and between them a gem emerges. Alesse soon followed completing my borrowed powers. The convergence of these powers into me shook the foundations of the realms.
I took the two gems and placed them in my gauntlet. I took it off and I gave it to the two. "I trust you to guard the gauntlet while I'm gone." "You'll just had this over to us after all of that!?" "Why not? You two are now my allies." My words surprised the two, "You sure about this my boy?" Hunson asked. "Yeah, another thing…" I shook his hand and I bowed. "Allow me to go out with Marceline in a trip." He stared at me for a long time and he laughed hard. "Sure, I'll allow it." I pumped my fist in the air and I went on my way.
Third Person View
Finn hurried back to Ooo, he went to Jake and lady's to greet them, "It's been a while brother!" "Sure is, how's life been treating you guys?" "It's been good, the war haven't spread this far, but it doesn't mean I'm not involved, if you ever need me Finn just call." Finn was relieved to know that the pups weren't affected by the war even more Jake is remotely involved. "I will. Just be safe Jake." "You too Finn." The two siblings hugged each other and Finn was ready to go back to Marceline.
Finn arrived at the entrance of the cave, while entering he remembered the other Marceline back in the world he was thrown into. He felt guilty for leaving her in the air, "I'll pay a visit someday." He said to himself. He made his way inside and there he was pushed down by Marceline. She planted kisses but at the end of it a slap came in contact with Finn's cheek. "That was for leaving me hanging." Finn was shocked at first but then he smiles and returned her kisses, but his was more passionate, all were hitting the right spots. Marceline was in a trance but Finn stopped there.
"Why don't you dress up, we're going somewhere far." "Alright, whatever you want." She pouted but still excitedly prepared. "Maxwell, I know you're peeking." "You caught us." Maxwell, Grayson and Huntress emerged from the shadows of the cave walls. "Quite the beast aren't you Finn?" Grayson joked. "Where are you taking Marceline anyway? I'll tell Betty if you hurt her." Huntress added. The three ganged up on Finn who was hopelessly barraged with question, soon after that Marceline came out of the house neatly dressed. "Oh hey guys, what are you up to?" "Nothing, just a friendly chat." Grayson lied.
Marceline gave the trio suspicious looks, but none of them budged so she let it slide. "You look nice." Finn said. "Is that all you can say?" She asked, annoyed by the plain complements. "Yeah Finn, she-" Finn hissed at them making the shutting them up. "Come we'll be going to a place I know you'll like." "Oh is that so? I'll have my expectations high." Marceline challenged him. The two walked out of the cave, their three friends followed them out. "But before that, I need to take care of something." "Be fast, I've been waiting for so long."
Finn removed the ring from his hand and approached Grayson. "I need you to give this to Maxwell." "I'm just here you know!?" She revolted. "No, it's better this way, besides you two need a thorough personal talk." "I'll be on my way then, time to check on Betty." Huntress said as she read the mood quite well. "I'll be taking my leave with my beloved queen." Finn went back to Marceline and before they took off Finn said, "The ring belongs to Maxwell, Grayson!" Finn and Marceline flew away with haste. "Why did you call Nico, Grayson?" "I'll explain after our trip, for now we'll have fun." Meanwhile Maxwell's mouth was open, she looked at Grayson with teary eyes and he said for the first time, "It has been a while, sorry for forgetting."
New chapter, truths have been revealed and new secrets have been placed. Finn is changing...
brought back some stuff, I felt the past few chapters were incomplete without it, I also shortened this chapter since length have always been an issue for some. Even I can't read other fics with chapters too long so I'm hoping this one is bearable while still retaining content.
For now I leave this chapter, I hope you guys enjoyed and continue to read future chapters. I'll do my best in releasing chapters in regular intervals.
