Dear Readers,
There is no easy way of saying this, so here goes:
Restoration is going to finish here. The story will be completed in Restoration Reloaded.
I very much understand I have broken a promise of sorts; I had every intention of finishing Restoration, and had little intention of leaving it as an unfinished fic. Unfortunately, real life has a way of getting in the way of things. I left writing Restoration for a little too long. When I came back to it, I realised I just couldn't pick this story back up from where I had left it.
If you would believe it, I had planned Restoration out meticulously before I even started to write it. Then, I got stupid. I did what you really shouldn't as a writer. I published essentially the first draft. I wrote the vast majority of Restoration, five thousand words at a time, in quick succession. I veered off the course of my plan – whilst I actually like some of the changes I made, I also have huge mistakes in which large important plot points were forgotten. I attempted to shoe-horn some in to the story later on, and others just completely discarded.
What was also bad of me is that I forgot what had actually happened in the books. Restoration was intended to be an AU version of what happens right after the final battle. Forgetting important parts of Draco's behaviour, and Hermione's was essentially throwing the spanner in the works.
It made for a perfect storm when life became easier again and I was able to focus on working on writing once more. I very much love Restoration, but I cannot finish it in the form it is.
Due to all these things, as well as a plethora of other reasons, I came to the eventual decision to re-write Restoration.
It'll be published very soon, beta'd by Maddiechu, and under the title Restoration Reloaded. The stories will not be identical.
Sincerely, I apologise. I'd love to thank all of you who have read Restoration, it has meant the world to me. I hope I get to see you all again to finish the story in Reloaded.
