43. End of Book One

Hey beautiful people!

So I have a huge announcement. I'm officially going to end this story on Chapter 42. Well, not end the story, but I'm going to continue this story in a sequel. I've been thinking things over a lot and I realize that this story up until now, (not including the pulp fiction chapters), is a complete and full arc. Naruto's growth is solidified. He's transformed, embracing his role as the demon child who will conquer the world. He is set in his beliefs. When you think about how long this story has been up until now I think it makes sense.

This story, not including the pulp fiction chapters, is as long as the first and second harry potter books COMBINED! And in that length Naruto has grown a ton as a person. The next arc of my story will go into his actions as a rising demon king as opposed to a boy trying to determine his path. Now Naruto knows his path.

Also a big reason I've decided to end the story at Chapter 42 is because the tone of the story from here on is going to completely shift. Given where I know things are headed I simply can't in good faith keep the story rated "T." Naruto has grown up. He will create demon society. Demon society is NOT rated T. Hopefully I've hinted at that enough based on how Midnight and Kyuubi behave.

I am actually really proud of this story so far. In terms of popularity it is more popular than I could ever dream. What I like most is that people find it so engaging that they are willing to look past my wierd fetishes, like gender-bending and borderline incest, because they enjoy the story so much. I find that probably my greatest achievement. I've told a story that hooks you even if you think I'm a dirty pervert. That's amazing!

So this will probably be the last update for this story. The next story I will post today. Probably tonight. Consider it "Book 2" or "Arc 2." I'm simply going to take chapter 43 and 44 and have those chapters begin the sequel. Then I'll also post chapter 45. Which will be the 3rd chapter of the sequel. It will be called "The Son's Legacy." It should be easy to find because I don't think there is another story on this website with that name.

I haven't actually figured out how I'm going to structure the new story. I'm thinking of making it a series of "slice of life" episodes until I decide how I want to continue the story. Also it's going to be rated M. Correction, it NEEDS to be rated M. I already know that "The Son's Legacy" will be far less popular than "Like Mother Like Son." Usually that bothers me but it won't this time because I'm so proud of what I've done with "Like Mother Like Son." Those who read the sequel are going to be much more niche in their likes. And I intentionally made "Like Mother Like Son" in a way to where it would appeal to a broader audience. Plus "Like Mother Like Son" has a more traditional writing structure. The sequel will kind of be all over the place. I'll probably play around with the timeline frequently as I tell different little stories that I think are interesting to write.
