CHAPTER 27 Helpless

He woke up with eyes staring at the top of Luna's head. Somehow, the golden strands calm him down. Just seeing even a little piece of her makes him feel safe and loved. The small girl lays against his chest with her hair falling down on her chin, her small candle-liked fingers were on his chest, rested to where his heart is located. The small angel was holding him tight to her, as if she was afraid that he might let her go. And as he gazes on and on to her face, his eyes wandered on her smooth neck; to where he noticed a silver chain was located. He smiles warmly, but then frowned upon her. It was such a sad thought. To know that he actually meant something to her was overwhelming, and that, he might actually think twice of walking out of her life. But then, things weren't so easy for him. It never did.

"I'm sorry, love" he whispered on to her face while taking her hand to remove it from his chest. The girl responded with a sleepy groan. Closed eyes and still sleeping, she lifted the ends of her lips to form a smile. After he bent down to grab his uniform and fitted himself to them, he turned to look at the sleeping figure on the bed. He kneeled next to where her figure lies, just staring at her pair of eyes like he was expecting a miracle.

He waited for a few seconds, looking at the girl that he would leave once again. The smile on her face and the hope in her eyes were making it harder for him to leave. He wishes that Luna would understand, and that, she would still be open for him when the time would come.

He bowed down his head and laid his lips on her forehead. His eyes were closed as he savored the moment of her skin against his. Trying to say goodbye to that one kiss. He stood up, gathering his courage as he tries not to turn just to look back on her."Please don't leave me" he heard her whisper through the thick silence. He clutches the doorknob, whether she was awaken or not, he wasn't sure. And as he opened and sneaked his way out, he wasn't sure if he actually saw a tear fell out from her eye.

"Luna, I love you" Draco nuzzles his nose on hers. Smiling the usual smile that makes her heart do a double thump inside her chest. They were in the Forbidden Forest, laying down the grassy ground with their fingers pointing to the constellations, naming them and adding some of the information that they knew about the stars.

"I love you too" she said breathlessly with her eyes flashes in admiration for the man next to her. She stared to his eyes as he looks at her in return. For a moment, she held his gaze, but then, slowly and softly, his skin started to melt; as if he was made of ice. Luna started to panic, her hands that were on her sides automatically left to touch his melting cheek. She stood up, wrapping her arms around the skeleton that was to be Draco Malfoy. She held him tight as the sky went foggy from above. She looked down to her feet, surprised to see that she was standing high up to the air with ashes inside her arms and on the dry land, there lays Draco Malfoy's body with blood running through the scars that he had gained through Harry's spell.

"Draco!" She shouted, kneeling down to the invisible ground that keeps her from getting to him. "Draco!Don't-" She shouted again, banging her fists to the barrier desperately as the fog was getting thicker than before. "Luna-" Draco picks his hand up towards to the air, pointing his hand direction towards her. She nodded weakly in return, her tears falling desperately out from her eyes as she kept on banging her fists and stomping her feet to the transparent barrier.

"let me out- Draco!" The fog underneath was thickening and soon, Draco's body was wrapped with the thick fog. Luna sat frozen on her spot, looking down on the covered grounds, searching defeatedly through the shadows to any signs of body in them"Draco?" The barrier began to crack as she can hear the cracking echoes through the place . She sniffs back her sobs as the final crack was made. Soon, she found herself falling from her place. She opens her eyes as she felt herself floating to the air.

Slowly, if she ever closes her eyes, she would have thought that she was in some kind of twisted fairytale; but then, she was not. In reality, she was falling fast helplessly, with fingers feeling the air strokes.

She felt her back hit the surprisingly soft ground with a soft 'thud'. Her eyes moved from her left then to her right, trying to look for Draco but the grounds were unfortunately, dark and vacant. And so she stood up, advancing towards the faint green light that kept on blinking ever since she stood up. She wraps her arms around herself, trying to stop the goosebumps that kept on happening to her skin. She tries to ignore the figures that were looking at her through their dark cloaks and masked faces, but unfortunately, it wasn't that easy. Inch by inch, as she walks closer to the light, the figures seem to extend forward to where she was.

She dismisses any troubled thoughts and continues walking. Her hand that was on her side, slowly went to her pocket, trying to feel her wand that was not there. She shudders and breathes out from her nose. Without looking back, she gathers her courage and lifted her legs to run.

She squints her eyes and grits her teeth as the dark figures came closer and closer to her skin. Soon, they quickly catch up on her and grabbed her with their cold slim hands. They four of them grabbed her by the arms and one to her neck, squeezing her slowly as if the masked figure is trying to kill her gently and deadly.

"Draco" she shouts, pushing her struggled throat to work it's system, which making her voice raw. The green light blinked after her voice, as if it was actually responding to her. The wind blew harsh through the dark grounds, with the green light slowly vanishing comes a harsh and cold voice against her ear "shut it blood traitor, you're screaming for a dead body now"

"Draco!" She woke up with tears falling down from her eyes with body shivering uncontrollably. Somehow, instead of getting relieved, she was getting nervous. She turned her head next to her, her hand touching the spot where Draco Malfoy rested on; it was cold, something tells her that he woke up too early before her. She stood up, grabbing her disregarded clothes that were left to the ground.

She dresses herself without thinking much of anything besides Draco. Upon why he left her alone after him confessing his love for her, she doesn't know but she wouldn't think much of negative things about him. He once had made a mistake but he would always have a good and probably stupid reason upon why he did that and right now, he probably has some kind of martyr-liked explanation.

It was already before night time when she had woke up, so everybody must've believed that she was absent for the day. And so she hurried and went outside. Surprisingly, the halls were empty and the aura of the day was getting thicker and so is the sky; thick that it was harder for her to breathe. She run towards the end of the hall and went to the stairs of the Astronomy Tower, thinking that Draco might be there; especially when he's not in the Room of Requirements.

"We finally did it!" She was on the second step of the stairs when she heard a giggling girl's voice. She turned her head on an upwards gesture, tilting her head to look for the source of voice. "We killed Dumbledore, we killed Dumbledore!" she stopped frozen on her spot, clearly unamazed and disbelieved of what she had heard. Was it true? Was the beloved Headmaster-?

She took a step back towards the wall when a woman all dressed in black was running down the stairs with her wand in her hand, dancing and laughing manically. Bellatrix LeStrange. Following her were a few men that she do not know but certainly heard about, and their faces were inside the Daily Prophet. They were the Death Eaters.

The pendant on her neck was getting heavier. She knows. He was there, she can feel it. Maybe, this is what the cabinet was all about. His frustrations, his tears, his mission. She turned her eyes to look at him, and suddenly, her eyes met his that were also staring back at her, with his full of sadness and regret. She doesn't know what to do and what to say, instead, she just looks at him, looked at him as he passed her with those eyes that she seems to be captivated of. She can feel him, she can feel him breaking. Yet, instead of running inside his arms, she watches as he runs away from her with a tear falling down helplessly from her eye.
