CHAPTER 29 Someday
"Bloody Hell" Luna turned her head towards Ginny. The red haired girl was currently reading the letter that she had received from Pigwidgeon, while murmuring curses through her gritted teeth. Luna watches her bestfriend closely with the tip of the side of her lips lifting. "What happened Ginny?"
"Bill is getting married that's why!" Ginny whined out with the chocolate frog inside her mouth. "Congratulations to him then" Luna smiles kindly with eyes shining bright. She had always dreamt about getting married, especially the thought of being forever committed to the one she loves was a very beautiful thing to do. As a young girl, her mother used to make flower crowns and sticks it to the top of her head, then, she would run her hands to Luna's blonde curls reminding her that marriage is so much more when you tied yourself with someone you will love forever. And she had always believed in that.
"No Luna, you don't understand. He is marrying the veela" Ginny, however, hates the thought of her brother marrying the pretty girl from Beauxbatons. Luna had already seen the beautiful girl, but she still haven't have any sorts of interaction with her so she doesn't know how to respond with Ginny's disapproval.
"We can't do anything about that Ginny. Bill loves her and so is she to him"
"I'll try. But don't expect me to be best sisters forever with her okay?" Luna nodded, and Ginny flipped her hair out from her shoulders while turning her head to the glassed window, looking outside trees that the train passes by as if she was thinking about Luna's words. "And promise me you would come! It would probably be worse than how I imagine it would be"
"Of course"
Draco would only nod absentmindedly through the dark lord's meeting. He never was in the mood for all of this planning. Ever since the Headmaster died, the dark lord was busier than ever. They kept on strategizing about their attacks and how they would overthrow the group that Harry leaded.
"Are you alright dear?"his mother broke his concentrations from his own thoughts. With a small tilt of his head, he adjusted his eyes to look at her. Narcissa smiled and sits right across from him. "Fine" he replies lamely, tapping his fingers to the satin covered arm rest of their satin covered sofa. Narcissa raises her eyebrow, clearly not trusting Draco's obvious lie. "Tell me" she said with the tone that tells him that she was in charge and that. he should think twice before lying to her. Apparently, Draco saw what she was trying to say and rolled his eyes.
"She was one of those people that worships Potter-" he crosses his arms on his chest. A roll of his eyes made Narcissa found out that her son was actually insecure. No matter how much of an appealing man Draco is, he was still capable of being jealous over the girl he courts, and to Narcissa, she realizes that the girl might be the most beautiful girl in the world; to be able to make her son fall so hard, it was- a beautiful feeling.
"-I fear that she would be there, in that wedding" then he added, a bit softer and quieter than before. She watches as he bowed his head to look at his intertwined hands,as if he was actually trying to send some message to the girl that he loves. She looks over at her son with her eyebrows furrowed together. She painfully tries to digest the thought of her son being scared for someone. Somehow, upon what was happening around her, she would always pray that someday, somehow, her son would make it out alive and well with the girl that he loves, and that they may live without fearing for a dark lord to appear.
"I'm not sure if I'm strong enough to see her broken because of me" he shared his thoughts to his mother and immediately, Narcissa understood. She sighed and pouted slightly to her son, thinking of his words as it registers to her mind. "She accepted you before, she will now"
Luna stared at her reflection, somewhat pleased that she was getting healthier than how she was two months ago. Her skin was pale but the glow returned slowly, and her eyes that were once so dull and lifeless were returning their light. She lowered her eyes and touched the pendant that was resting to her chest, circling the pendant side to side. He's alright, he needs to be alright. She smiles back and brought the pendant to her lips, pecking the crystalized jewel. "Are you ready love?" she turned her head to where the voice was, and she immediately nodded in return when she saw her father leaning to her door frame. "There's something going on with you child, and I can't put my finger on it" Xenophilius walked right next to his daughter, with both of them staring at the other's eyes through the mirror. "I don't know what you're talking about Daddy"
"You seem to be- nevermind me dear, it must be the wrackspurts" Xeno shrugged his shoulders and smiled sheepishly at Luna as she smiled sweetly in return. Without another word, Xeno offers his hand for his daughter to clasp. The thought of him not bending just to take her hand was making him sad and nostalgic. But then, with the necklace dangling proudly to her chest and an even more dreamy smile on her face, he was happy that Luna was experiencing such a beautiful part in life. Luna placed her hand to her father's as they shared a smile to one another. With a content sigh of relief from Xeno, they apparated to the Wedding Reception.
As soon as they arrived to the Burrow's, Luna was attacked by a Ginny Weasley's bear hug.
"Guess what" Ginny exclaimed excitedly, with her freckled cheeks blushing.
"What?"
"Harry, Ron, and Hermione's here"
"Draco dear, it's showtime!" he rolled his eyes at his Aunt's back, feeling annoyed of the thought of doing activities such as crashing a party. For him, it was dumb but unfortunately, for the dark lord, it was a way of saying 'fear me'. And as a death eater, he must follow the dark lord's rules; it was just something that his life was signed into and it wasn't such a fun life.
Their group brisk walked- almost run- on the outside of the large tent, some of them, excited while some just can't wait to get it over with.
Bellatrix laughed wildly with her head held high. She didn't waste any moment anymore as she closes her eyes and immediately disappeared from her spot. Draco waited as one by one all of them vanished from their spot. Soon, he counted one to three when there is only five of them left, and with a close of his eyes, he skillfully apparated with ease.
As he opened his eyes, he quickly slide his mask on to his face, covering every details that could give any sign that he was Draco Malfoy. He puffed out a nervous exhale and secured his wand to his hand. The event went from calm and lovely moment to pure chaos; leave it to his aunt to that such things. He dived curses out from both sides and tries to keep himself alive as his eyes were searching for a familiar face.
He turns his head wildly as his feet carries him automatically to nowhere in particular. Over and over again, he tries to look for a girl who wears the strangest of the strange, but then, he would always end up getting disappointed. For a few seconds of running and turning, he spotted something odd to his eyes. There was a flash of yellow that distract him from stepping another foot. He swallowed a lump in his throat as he slowed down his speed, directing his feet to the blonde girl with the yellow dress.
He stood hypnotized with the girl. Luna.
Thump. Thump. His heart beats faster as the curses on the background faded. He was getting nearer to her and her back was still on his. He raises his hand and grabbed the pale shoulder. She turned her head to him, her eyes as deep as the ocean was looking back at him. He closes his eyes and without another word they apparated.
For a few seconds, he finally opened his eyes as the weird sensation of traveling was over. They landed to the hill next to the Lovegood's household. He puffed out a breath from his nose as Luna looked back at him with eyes never giving any signs of fright, somehow, she was only staring with the same curiosity that she usually wore. He wandered his eyes towards her face, glad to know that she was healthy and alive. He might not admit it, but she was getting more beautiful and she somehow has this ability to take his breath away.
Luna's mouth opened slightly, with a small smile formed to her face. She raises her hand and rested it to the cheek of his mask, her fingertips caressing the cold satin of the object. Draco bit his lip inside his mask, afraid that he would hurt her all over again. But then, her touches were too impossible to resist. He leaned closer to her face but also, grabbed her wrist tightly inside his hand, as if threatening her. Luna frowned but her other hand went it's way to the chin of his mask. She lifts her eyes to meet his dark light blues, and slowly, she lifted the mask to reveal his chin and then, his pair of soft smooth lips.
She tip toed and rests her lips to his, her hands that were on each sides of his now visible cheeks were caressing his skin gently and soothingly. He pecks back at her, kissing her chastely like how her lips applies their pressure to his.
"I'm sorry" he releases her from him and whispers his words to her lips.
"What on earth for?" she whispers back to him.
"For everything"
"Well, I'm sorry but Draco-" She closes her eyes and placed her head to the bottom of his chin, listening to the beats that his heart creates. "I know that you're going to leave me again but I don't regret loving you though" He was shocked to hear her say those things to him. To even hear her say that she loves him was making his heart beat beat wildly against his chest. He gulped down and a true smile was forming on his lips. He wrapped her inside his arms as he gently lifted her head to his, pecking her lips once more. "Someday, love. Things would get brighter".
