CHAPTER 32 Cold, Dark but Safe
Draco woke up with a horrible pain inside his head. He kept on avoiding this day to come along, yet, he was already breathing air of the 20th day of December. He washes himself up and splashes his face with cold water; he seems to do it every once in a while, with a last look of his seem to be permanent paled complexion, he sighed nervously and walked out to his room.
As he step outside the comforts of his own chamber, the cold, dead breeze is suffocating him like it's hands were wrapped around his neck. Never before had he felt so nervous about something that wasn't about himself, and it kind of feels so unreal for him. But then he realized that it wasn't all about him and his oh so good nature, but it was because Luna made his inner true being sprung out from it's cold shell, and truth to be told, he kind of feel so free. "Everything alright?" the ends of his lips twitched, as if trying to form a smile but failed. His mother sighed in a sad type of manner. Truth to be told, she thought that it was all about Lucius again;about how Draco disappointed him, but she decided that it was far from that. "Yes mother. Everything's alright. Why wouldn't it be?" Draco tilted his head towards Narcissa, responding with his confident manner. For a few seconds, he stared to his mother, making her raise her hand to touch his cheek gently, making him close his eyes to fight the eager emotions from falling.
"The master needs you, Mr. Draco sir" Fibby broke the two of them apart from their mother and son moment. Draco inhaled, trying to control his thoughts and to just think about nothing. If there is this one thing he's sure that his father was proud about him, it could be that he is very good at hiding his thoughts- that even the dark lord himself can't shove the hidden memories inside his mind.
"Ah, it's almost time! Come, come young Malfoy!" the dark lord said once he entered the Meeting Hall. He bowed down with the sign of respect, making Voldemort to smirk in pride. Some of the death eaters were already out there, staring at him like the usual beast that they are. He controls himself from rolling his eyes at how much he hated almost everybody in that room- too bad his Aunt wasn't there, sitting with her beloved master like a pup. Almost every single one of them lusted for blood and hungry for death. Nothing changes to his life, he had always been choked upon responsibilities that he did not wish that he had.
"They're here Sir"
Luna kept on walking with only two arms of the strangers guiding her way. She was blindfolded and her hands were magically locked to her back. She can feel that they were getting near to their location. Her feet can feel the marbled staircase of the so called location, and also, the blindfold was sliding lower to where her eyes were. "Master" she heard one of the strangers say. She is now reassured that they were inside a house? or maybe an abandoned shack?. She did not know but judging by the fact that they had stopped walking, they were already there.
"Remove her blindfold" she heard a cold voice a few meters away from where she was. She can tell that whoever was that person, he or she must be the one who sent her to his or her domain. Truth to be told, Luna doesn't know what she had done to anybody that would cause her to be kidnapped. But she guesses that she would stop thinking since she is about to find out why and who the mastermind was.
She can feel one of them walked right infront of her; she knows because she can sense their shadow by her blindfold. Slowly the knot from the back of her head loosened and she can feel her heart began to choke her. She feels sick. Like she is on the verge of vomitting, but she decided not to since she's risking her life far too much.
The light passes by her eyes as she cringed from the sudden colors. Soon, as she blinked a few times to adjust her eyesight, she turned her head to the table, surprised to see a few wizards and witches all wearing in black clothes. She can't concentrate, even if she tried to look at the people around her, as if by magic, her eyes were just glued to the master that they kept on talking about. And it was the dark lord himself, Voldemort.
"What do you want from me?" She asks with tone curious and questioning. In truth, she actually knows why, but she feels that her father is doing the right thing. "It's fascinating how brave you are Ms. Lovegood" he answers her coolly, levelling with her politeness to him. She furrows her eyebrows, knowing that the dark lord wouldn't answer her with the answers that she wanted to hear. As she stared right to the man who made people to kidnap her, she saw the corpse within him. Maybe he wasn't that human after all. Maybe it was true, what they said about him, he was sadistic and wrong, and he didn't deserve Luna's silver linings. For sure, he wanted her to get killed. Just like that, he made it look so easy.
"Thankyou" she said to his not so polite compliment.
"I want to make an offer, you see-" the man changed the subject, clearly as more as what he really wants. However, even if it was as if it was a good idea, Luna was actually seeing the wrong side of things. How could she accept his offer if it would result her to betray everything she believes?.
"-it's never too late to change your mind" he added to his words. Luna feels sick. It was as if she would sacrifice everything just to have herself safe. She turned her head in disgust, adjusting her focus to the right side of the table. Her eyesight began to work again, as if it had disappeared from the dark lord's magic. Slowly, she sighed in disbelief, trying to control her temper. It was crazy how she can't control herself these days. She kept on having moodswings and it's terrifying how she never have had it before.
She was about to turn her head back to whom she's been talking to but then, she saw him. He was sitting next to a woman who has this hint that she was his mother. His head was bowed down but his eyes were connecting to her, looking at her with his lips formed into a thin line. her lips twitched slightly. She knows that they weren't allowed to show any signs of relations towards each other. And so she turned her head back to the man, gulping down as she had made her decision.
"I assure you, Mr.. The good would always win in the end" She finally answered back, smiling as she can feel the man twitch in annoyance; probably because he wasn't used to being swayed.
"Fetch her inside the dungeons" his voice was colder than before, as if he had actually showed mercy for her a while ago. With his voice, the man who she believed was named Fenrir Greyback stood up and glee with his eyes looking at her as if she was his last meal. She felt her palm go sweaty, but due to wanting to prove to the dark lord that she's not scared, she held her head high and went to the wolf's side.
"I'll double up, just incase our traitor would use anything against Greyback" She heard his voice against the thumping of her heart. She straightened her gaze up to him as he stood up, his face was masked to his cold walls but then, she can see through past it. He took her arm inside his hand, adding some pressure to his thumb towards her skin for more added effects; as if he was actually trying to hurt her, and as she guesses what he was trying to do, she fake hissed as if she was actually in pain.
She tilted to his face with her lips sneered and he looked back in return with his mouth formed into a thin line, making him look like he was actually disgusted by her. "Disgusting bloodtraitor" he spatted out to her face, and she furrowed her eyebrows. He blinked back at her as the side of his lip twitched to show her a small flash of smile. In that moment she knew that she only have the play her role safely, because as she looked upon Draco's eyes, she was sure that he wouldn't let anything bad to happen to her. And by that realization, even if there is a werewolf next to her and as they entered the dark dungeons, she knew that the feeling of Draco's thumb circling to her skin is enough for her to stay sane.
