OKAY SO I JUST MESSED IT ALL UP BIG TIME. UFGH, GUYS I'M SORRY BUT DUE TO MY WRECKED UP MIND, I WOULD JUST SORT OF MAKE MY OWN PLOT THROUGHOUT THE WAR CHAPTERS, UFGH, I WROTE THE DIADEM FIRST WITHOUT WRITING THE HARRY LUNA ACTION SCENE. UGH WHY BRAIN. WHY.
Incase this chapter might confuse you, the line represents a changing of pov, alternating Luna and Draco's view.
Chapter 47 Meeting Halfway
"Grab my hand!" Draco squinted through smoke filled eyes, adjusting through the surface in search for Potter's voice. Up to the slightly bright high ceiling came floating down Harry Potter with one hand held tightly to the top of his broom and the other one open for him to take.
He turned towards the other ones behind him, making sure that he is not the only one that trio came back for. Blaise. Check. Surprisingly sitting behind Weasley; probably trying to get to his better side for the Weaslette. And then came Goyle, who's handling the broom with a puzzled look on his face and a pitied looking Granger behind him.
He grabbed Potter's hand, all of their judgmental quarrels and doubts have been temporarily pushed aside. The boy who lived swung him by the hand as he pushed all of his energy to jump straight in to the vacant space behind. Once tucked in, he shamelessly wrapped his arms stiffly around Potter, seeing as it is the only way to assure his safety.
If the boy who lived thought it was awkward, as well as how Draco think it was, he did not make any comments about their situation.
They all flee from the smoke filled room, the huge doors closing before them as they gasp wildly in search for fresh air to breathe. While doing all of those things, he scanned the chaotic hall with a sharp look from left then to his right. Searching for a familiar face to protect.
He knows that she could do it, she's strong enough to protect herself.
But then..
She is here.
He can't just ignore the worrying streak that kept on thumping erratically inside his chest. If he had known that caring and loving results him to be like this, he could've avoided her. Let it all be easy. Be the Draco Malfoy everyone thought he would be destined to be.
But he had let her in, squinting slowly from his walls and allowed her to break through all of his folds.
Surprisingly, he doesn't feel like taking everything back the way it was before.
And truthfully, he loves her.
Merlin knows just how far he could go just to have her.
The hall was hot with range and reeks of the coldness of death, he turned to run as fast as he can to wherever he could go just to see her.
"Potter?"
"Stupify!"
It came out of nowhere, an instinct Luna has grown accustomed of from her days in the cellar. Protecting Clementine as well as herself, was never an easy task inside the gloomy place. But in her days being locked inside, she unintentionally memorized each faces and each voices of the death eaters above her and she knows who the owner of the cold voice is. The sadistic teacher would doom them if they would be caught right there and right now, if she had advanced earlier than her.
"Harry"
"I know"
But still, Luna had already seen the stunned teacher touch her dark mark. They were too late to stop her. Fate is such a twisted being, if it wanted war, a war shall be received. People will die, some will be lucky to have something positive to be left with.
There was a heated argument coming outside the common room, one with a man's voice while the other held a calm but dangerous authority. With the sudden interruption, Harry pulled Luna right inside his arm and covered them with the coverings of his invisibility cloak.
The pair inched slightly behind, standing straight on their backs against the Ravenclaw colored wall. The door opened loudly, Amycus Carrow came first, then trailing behind was Professor McGonagall, who wore a placid and straight face; but with Harry and Luna's time inside Hogwarts, the look is something that send shivers through their spines. Nobody would like to mess with her.
But still, Amycus doesn't have any clue of what he is dealing with, even worse, his range boiled even more when he saw his dear sister lying around on the ground who got stunned by a mysterious student.
"Foolish, that is what my sister is! The dark lord would punish us greatly!. I know, I know! I'll leave the blame to the idiocy of the amateur students" he claimed, a hint of malice visible in his voice.
Something inside McGonagall had snapped, her fist trembled with anger as she charged the death eater without fear inside her voice; "How dare you pass your mistakes to the students Mr. Carrow! Do not blame them for your idiocy and cowardly nature. It is you and her who made the mistake, and it is you and her that would be punished!" Although her poise has been neutral the whole time, the hidden students could see the change with the Professor's eyes, anger, range, and disgust.
but what Amycus did next infuriated them all: "Sod off McGonagall" he said as he spit out some saliva on her robes, making a statement.
However, his so called statement was enough for Harry. With anger streaked self he shove off the invisibility cloak and placed the tip of his wand towards the disrespectful prat.
"Crucio!" he demanded with such anger, his jaw clenched and teeth banging tightly towards each other. The man who only got time to widen his eyes as he heard the spell, got thrown upon the east side of the wall with so much force, the green lighting from the tip of Harry's wand was dancing from the ends of the strands of his hair, then to his boney toes.
Like Harry, Luna too was furious of what had happened. It was an extreme no-no even for a prat. And she thought Draco was a prat; but he is her lovely, beautiful, actually nice if he wants to prat.
McGonagall didn't utter a word, but her eyes and lips formed into a grateful one, something that touched Luna's heart and made her feel more hopeful even with a war going on.
With just a nod, the two of them left and went to their separate ways, hugged each other for a safe adventure, and left the three inside the room knowing that McGonagall knows how to take care of the mess inside the Ravenclaw Tower.
"Harry? You'll look after Draco won't you? And yourself as well?" is what she said before they left
"I will Luna. And please, you'll survive, you just should. I'll see you later alright?." and he promised back, before removing his frightened eyes from Luna and dashed to the Room Of Requirements, along with Ron and Hermione in the mission of destroying Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem.
He went and followed the only remaining place he could ever hear people talking; he went a beeline to the Great Hall.
Maybe she was there.
She clutched her wand nervously, the quietness of the halls were giving her the eerie feeling; and not in the good way. But she focused on, following the sounds that made her reach the Great Hall.
Once she has reached the line of the Gryffindor house- upon where mostly the DA members were located, her eyes wandered vigorously to the Slytherin line, looking for a certain blond with a tailored suit.
Everybody turned their eyes back and forth to the stadium of the Hall, their orbs bewildered with panic and sadness. The Hall was silent as well as loud from all of the whisperings being shared.
Upon the stadium stood Severus Snape, eyeing them with his usual mask of indifference. He had ordered all of the students to hold an emergency meeting, on with Merlin knows what. But soon, they were about to find out.
"Silence" he said with his commanding tone, and immediately the whole student body silenced with anticipating eyes.
When he was sure that everybody is eager to listsn to him, he climbed down the three steps stair and glared boringly from his left then to his right.
"If there is a single one among all of you knows where Mr Potter's whereabouts, I suggest you speak your claim, right-" he glared a second longer to where she was; probably for their whole D. A., and slowly backed away his eyes with the end of his sentence "-now"
Nobody opened their mouth, but at each second that passes by, some students would often glance at their way with a nervous glance. But as hesitant as they turn to look, that was how quick they turned away.
"Well?" Professor Snape asked, his voice as slow as an echo from a well. Continually, every just glanced at each other as if waiting for someone to speak up.
"For Merlin's sake, it's not like anybody would betray the Golden boy, professor. I already lost my only friends in this war-" Being the brave Slytherin she is, Pansy Parkinson claimed, her face full of sorrow and anger "-so let us all go!. This is just outrageous! Sacrificing your pupils just for the purebloods? What happens when every single one of us gets killed then? Who would bear the next generation of snotty pureblooded children you death eaters crave about? I am so done here"
Luna gasped as her heart beats wildly inside her chest. She fisted her hand to gain some support to her seemingly shattering mind. It was a moment of silence for her, everything went blurry as it seems as if what happened right after Pansy's speech went muted, she can see Professor Snape's mouth moving to Pansy, being pissed with her declaration, but she cannot hear them. Her mind was too troubled to function.
"Pansy's right Professor, let them all go" Between the crowd, Harry Potter along with Professor McGonagall appeared, but whatever he had said appeared to be a faint whisper against Luna's twitching ears. She watches everything that comes next, but everything was spinning, not even when Professor McGonagall attacked Professor Snape with a feiry spell had stopped her line of thinking out loud.
Not even when everybody cheered for Professor McGonagall. Not even when Professor Snape has fled off of the building. She was just emotionless, her heart holding some unexplainable sadness and anger.
Harry promised..
No, she cannot pin her anger to Harry, he has been through all of these much harder for her. He is only a human afterall.
But still... Draco just can't die on her. He just can't.
Without another word, she began to run to take a shortcut to the Room of Requirements, removing herself from the moving crowd, not bearing the thought of making her friends see her cry.
Draco slid past the crowd of different pupils from Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff, his eyes busy with trying to find Luna. But to him, it was no avail.
He gulped down desperately, he is sure that he cannot miss her features, he has already memorized every small and deep curves of Luna's body.
Without a second glance, he grabbed a familiar red head's wrist, making her jump in surprise.
"Malfoy? What the piss? How's.. How's Blaise?" Ginny was indeed not happy with any kinds of jokes today.
"He's shockingly fine Weaslette. Well, erm,Luna- wh-where is she?" he asked
The red head widened her eyes, her lower lip quivering as her eyes went glassy
"I haven't seen her since- I thought she was with you-" she gasped "- she wasn't, wasn't she?"
He clenched his jaw, the worried feeling that he has increased it's weight. He turned, clockwise, counter clockwise, ruffled his hair in frustration, and clenched his fists.
Luna.
No.. Luna can't die on him. She just can't.
And without another word, he began to run.
Sorry for the late update, school has been keeping me busY :( but I won't quit on this.
