And The Song of Ice and Fire

Westeros, The North

North of Ironrath

18th of 5th Moon 289AC

They weren't exactly when we began to near their camp. It looked and smelled like they had taken a dozen or more boxes with wine, mead, and ale. Because a big majority of the 'raiders' were super drunk. They were singing, dancing, and shouting around a large campfire in the middle of the group of hiding tents and bedrolls.

They didn't know what hit them. On a silent signal from Walter, we charged into the camp. The wildlings didn't stand a chance. The fight because it couldn't be called a battle was winding down there were still people who were fighting of course but not as many as at the start. The wildlings were beginning to waver.

The ones that weren't flat-out drunk tried to set up a shield wall, but the number of them wasn't nearly high enough to set up a good enough defense.

I suddenly saw a large man with a big Warhammer. Hmm, that must be the leader of this 'expedition'. he came closer and closer I was still standing there, though

I was tensing up my muscles to get ready to dodge an attack. when he was about five meters away I sprung my trap. I suddenly leaned to the left like I was going to go there before darting to the right. He missed, and it cost him dearly because when he ran past me I struck. jumping forward I slashed my sword against his nearly unprotected stomach. Creating a large gash that pumped blood to the ground.

He screamed, turned around, and began to bull rush me again. But unfortunately for him, I wasn't in the mood to play with him and I went left this time and promptly stabbed him right in the heart. His Warhammer flew through the air and landed on one of the dead wildlings a couple of tree lengths away.

The man finally stopped on the ground already dead. I looked around and saw that our little sparring match had gotten quite the audience of awed, tired, and surprisingly happy faces. It looked like the fight was over and I was a little winded but otherwise okay. Walter came up to me with an impressed look on his face.

"Wow impressive, Olaf the Giant has never been defeated in open combat, and you did it in two sword swings," Walter says before he continues with "I never actually got your name?"

"Indeed, well let me introduce myself. I am Harold of house Stark" the surrounding crowd went silent.

Walter blanched "what did you say?" I opened my mouth to repeat myself but he cut me off and continued "How can you be a Stark? You're way too old to be birthed by the last wolf pack, so"

"I am of the line of Rodrik 'The Wandering Wolf'" I answered him

"But he.. well he had William but he didn't get any kids"

"Well actually William is my grandfather, he followed in his father's footsteps so to speak and when he went to Essos he married a Lysine girl but unfortunately she died in childbirth birthing my father Artos. When my father was kidnapped by some slavers and was to be sold as a slave in Myr but the caravan was stopped by The Company of the Rose and he was taken in and raised there, he later married a girl of the old blood in Volantis, my mother but they are both dead by now, they died when I was quite young and like my father I was raised by the Company of the Rose" I finished

"My condolences," he said solemnly

"Thanks" I replied thinking about my real parents when he said it.

"Well that is quite the tale, but why did William take the black?" Walter asked while the surrounding soldiers quietly whispered to each other.

"My father thought that William got depressed that his child had been taken that he took the black and went to the edge of the world for the rest of his days"

"Well, what are you going to do now?" Walter asked me.

I replied with "I am currently waiting for 'cousin Ned' to come back to Winterfell so I can join back with the main pack again" I leaned into his ear and whispered "And between you and me, I have a feeling that times are going to be hard shortly especially for my family and the North in general and my gut haven't failed me yet"

"Well I think it's time to go back to Ironrath now boys" Walter shouted after a little time. Everybody started to pick up the dead Forester men and we began the march back to Ironrath.

Month later

Westeros, The North

Ironrath

20th of 6th Moon 289AC

This month had just flown by me. When we arrived back at the castle we had a victory feast and I got an actual room in the castle proper. A couple of days later we got a raven telling us that Lord Balon Greyjoy had bent the knee to King Robert of the Seven Kingdoms. And now after a tourney in Lannisport where Jorah Mormont won crowning that Hightower girl of his to be the Queen of Love and Beauty. So now Ned was coming home again with the rest of the northern lords well most of them anyway.

So here I was in the castle's courtyard waiting with the rest of the castle's occupants for Lord Gregor Forester. Last month I had finally met Asher, Rodrik, and Mira Forester. But here I was watching Lord Gregor and the returning Forester men arriving back into the courtyard. After Lord Gregor had said greeted his family and closest advisers he came up to me and looked me up and down with an unimpressed look on his face.

"So you're this supposed returning wolf" I was about to 'correct' him but he continued "You know I have been loyal to the Starks since I became lord like my father before me and his before that, and I don't like people lying to me especially not about my liege lords family"

I snarled and said "And I don't like Lords that come up to me and insult me by assuming that I am lying," I say dangerously. He stepped back with a startled look on his face and his guards came up with their spears pointed towards my gut in a circle around me. And the air got thick with tension just waiting to be let out.

When the tension suddenly dissipated when we heard someone's booming laugh and nearly everyone in the courtyard looked dumbfounded(except me because of the legitimacy and the lords own family and closest advisers) Lord Gregor came up to me clapped me on the shoulder with a smile and said

"Yes definitely a Stark with strong wolf's blood too, you remind me of Lord Brandon 'The Wild Wolf'" Gregor continued with "Welcome home Stark, I guess you haven't been to Winterfell yet" he began while beginning to lead me out of the castle and into the keep proper.

"No I left Essos when I heard about the rebellion thinking that I could meet up with the northern contingency to the war, but my ship was delayed by a series of storms on the narrow sea. And then after I arrived in White Harbor I managed to get a horse for the small money I had with me here to the North, but I was ambushed by some bandits I won but they managed to kill my horse when they shot five arrows in its neck fucking bastards but anyway that's how I arrived here at Ironrath" I finished while sending some weak compulsion charms at him.

"Wow, that has been quite the journey hasn't it," he said when we finally arrived at his study. He walked around the old table in the middle of the room and sat down on a comfy stool while gesturing to the other side's chair. I accepted and sat down. "Indeed, when I arrived here I thought that I could wait here to intercept cousin Ned when he went past here, the rest of what I did here you can ask your master at arms," I said

"Well then you should probably get on your way as soon as possible because Lord Stark is currently marching past Castle Cerwyn so if you go ride a horse to Winterfell you would probably meet him right after he arrives in Winterfell," Gregor says helpfully. "Well then I should get a move on then," I say when I rise from my seat.

"I will send a message to the master of horse about your horse," Gregor says while standing too and walking beside me to the door. We walk out and he says with finality "I pray to the old gods for a safe journey to you and remember the North remembers even if you were from Essos" he said cryptically before going the opposite way of the entrance of the keep. I stand there for a couple of minutes before turning and walking out.

Two days later

Westeros, The North

Winterfell

22nd of 6th Moon 289AC

Well, it could probably have taken one day if I hadn't forgotten that a hippogriff and a horse are two different things because while both of them could walk on four legs it was quite different when I constantly thought that the horse was about to jump out into the air and fly me to Winterfell so I took a break and that break took a little longer than I intended.

But finally, here I was and it looked glorious from the outside of the walls situated in some rolling hills with a small town that I would guess was Wintertown beside, and the castle itself well it was bigger than the tv show so I would guess this is the books with GRRM ridiculous sizes of everything. Because while not the biggest castle in Westeros (definitely not) Ironrath was quite big of a castle.

So here I was riding into the courtyard of Winterfell where I could see whom I would presume was Maester Luwin and Jory the captain of the guards waiting for me with an entourage of five men flanking them on each side. So I guess Gregor sent a raven to Winterfell. I stopped in front of them and stepped off my horse confidently.

Maester Luwin started the conversation with "Lord and Lady Stark is waiting for you in his study" was the only thing he said and then the guards stepped around me and escorted me through the windy halls of Winterfell and into the solar of Eddard Stark. Where Catelyn and Eddard stood they looked quite like their actors except maybe Eddard's face was a bit long and drawn out than Sean Beans' face but other than that they were nearly identical.

When I walked into the room Eddard rose from his seat and gestured to the empty seat in front of him. I set down and he began.

"Well, maybe the hair and the face," Eddard said suddenly after a minute with an expressionless face. "But your eyes are not from a Stark"

"No my eyes are from my mother but the hair and face are from my father," I said easily. Well, I didn't lie I have found out that the easiest way to lie is to tell a half-truth instead so they can never call you out on your lying.

"Well I assume we can clear this up quite quickly with some family secrets shall we," he said before turning to his wife and says I don't think the kids should be alone with the wet nurse any more than they need, you know that Arya is already a nightmare for them just in general and that's with you in the vicinity I won't dare think what my little wolf has already so you should probably be there," Ned said with a grin and even Catelyn stone-face cracked with an exasperated expression on her face and with a nod swept out of the room in a Snape-like way it was quite scary how close it looked like him suddenly Ned stopped my thoughts in their tracks.

"Well I don't think we need to try too long with questions before we know or not if you know of our family secrets" he started with his stone face again. "Let's start with the founder of our house" I felt quite dirty when I lightly picked up on his surface thoughts because while my moral compass had gone to shit I still had some standards but I found that this was the easiest to get my finger on the pulse of the whole AGOT story and get to effect everything from here on out. So I looked into his mind trying to just look at the question and found out that this was one of the first and most important family secrets the Starks had so I answered.

"Brandon the Builder was the founder of our house he constructed a series of things like Winterfell, The Wall, Storms End, and the Eyrie. His sister Lyarra was kidnapped by the Night King and that sparked the war between humankind, the Children of the Forest, and the Others or the White Walkers. The Night King was created by the Children and the father to Brandon became the Night King"

Ned looked honestly shocked and then an instant he began to smile and said

"When the snows fall and the white winds b.." I interrupt him and finish with a smile on my face "...low, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives" Ned chuckles a little bit and says "Welcome home cousin, I do hope that you will stay here and know that you are always welcomed to stay here" he says with a chocked voice.

"Are you okay?" I ask alarmed.

"Yes yes, it's just that I thought that my family was going to be the last of the Starks but where are you"

"Here I am"

"Yes and that's good, well I think it's time for you to meet the rest of the family Harry" My head snaps up to his face with a shocked expression on my face.

"What did you call me?" "Harry, I thought it would be a good nickname for you inside the family is it okay" "Ohh yeah, sure it's just that is what my parents called me when they were alive" I steady myself again."Well, we are your family now Harry" "Thanks, Ned" "Ohh you know Robert's nickname for me" "Well it's not the most secret nickname in the world," I say and we chuckle while moving towards the family wing of the castle. "No Robert was never the quietest kid, man or king," Ned said with a chuckle. And I replied

"From what I heard he is often heard throughout the castle and the Red Keep is not a small keep" I finished when we arrived at a door with a guard on each side of the door. "Yes well enough about the king, it's time to meet the rest of the family," Ned said before opening the door.

We walked into a very big room that was filled with wet nurses, Catelyn, and what I would assume were Robb, Sansa, and Arya. Ned immediately went and picked up Robb and Sansa while Catelyn picked up baby Arya. Ned said "Well Catelyn meet our new family member Harold 'Harry' Stark he's the great-grandson of Rodrik 'The Wandering Wolf' or also called my great uncle/Grandfather" Wait did he say, grandfather. Ohh wait yes isn't he the father to Ned's mother Lyarra, well I hadn't thought about that.

"Great-aunt Lyarra right?" That's weird to say but the must go on and since I am suddenly here I guess this will be my family anyway so that's fun, it's hundreds of years since my old family died so it isn't an open wound but it's still sad to think about. "Yes my mother, I suppose she was your great aunt," he said with a vacant face before his eyes sharpened and began to introduce them.

"Well this is my five nameday old son Robb and my daughters Sansa and Arya they are three and one namedays old respectively " He walked up to his wife gave her Sansa and put his hand on her belly and said "And here's the fourth pup" There's Bran I am guessing. "And of course there's little Jon" While Catelyn had been smiling softly when Ned introduced their children it soured quickly when she heard the last part. "He's my bastard," Ned said awkwardly.

"Ahh yes the Bastard of Winterfell I have heard of him says he is as quiet as his father" I saw Cat's face beginning to scowl so I quickly changed the subject "Well it looks like the next wolf pack will be strong" Cat began to relax and sent a grateful look towards me which like is Ned blind or something it's like even if he knows Jon isn't a bastard I doesn't mean he can talk about his 'bastard' right beside his wife like merlin he is blind or he's just ignoring the issue well I am here now so Jon can probably get a better life this time around, hopefully, and the rest of the Starks to I guess.

Ned smiled and said "Yes they will"

End of Chapter

Thank you for reading this chapter. I am quite happy with this chapter, especially for the second one. The next one will be about the first one or two years as Harold Stark. William Stark is AU but Rodrik and Lyarra are actual characters in the canon. With the Harry is a Stark angle I just thought it would be a cool way to get him implemented into the story. I think I have some good plans for Harry at least in the next few chapters. I don't know if I will change too much major of the 10 years between now and the start of the books and show.

And thanks for reading please give me feedback and I will look if someone has some suggestions.
