Ch.100: Christmas Party

People hustled and bustled about. Chit chattering echoed off the walls and high ceilings. Men and women all mingled and snacked on the refreshments.

Danny slipped between the people easily. For once, his small form was useful. People would occasionally glance at him if he brushed against them as he raced past. But no one really paid any real attention to him except the few undercover Leaguers and the Bat-Family.

The nine-year-old was sneaking between conversations. He'd eavesdrop on one and then when it got boring, traded it out for another. He lingered the longest on the ones between the undercover Leaguers. They always talked in code and Danny had fun deciphering what they said. It only got boring when they started talking about their personal lives or turned their attention to the little stalker. Then Danny would retreat and find another conversation.

The small child snuck up and stood by Artemis, who didn't register the new presence beside her. Her fiancé and the small child's oldest brother did, as they were standing in front of her. Simultaneously, they both pointed at the nine-year-old.

Artemis turned to look down, muttering a 'what', and releasing a startled yelp when she saw the ever-calm nine-year-old.

Dick and Wally roared with laughter while Danny giggled. Artemis, after regaining her composure, smirked and ruffled the blue-eyed child's raven hair while gently pushing him to the side. Danny laughed again and snuggled up against the blonde's leg lovingly, still not tall.

Some people cast weird glances at the nine-year-old and the archer. Everyone knew Danny wasn't exactly nice to strangers.

Artemis easily picked Danny up and placed him on her waist.

"How's my baby brother doing?" Dick asked, purposely getting in Danny's face. The nine-year-old gave him a thumbs up. Dick muttered a small 'yeah' before drawing back again.

Wally merely waved. "What's up, Kiddo!"

Danny waved back. "The ceiling, Adult-o!"

The adults laughed loudly again. Danny grinned, humming in pleasure. Then looking around, he asked "Where's Jason?"

Dick pointed to the far-side of the ballroom. "Sulking in his corner."

"I'm going to go say hi!" Danny said as Artemis set him down and then eagerly ran off, slipping in and out of different groups easily. The three adults watched and waved.

Danny zipped right up to his second oldest brother, who was, as told, sulking in a corner. Jason had a drink in his hands and was leaning back in his chair casually, a pout on his face.

"Hi Jace-y!" The Ghost Boy greeted, bouncing in front of his older brother. Danny put his hands' on his brother's knee for added effect.

"Hi Rae-Rae." Jason said dryly.

"Whatcha drinking?" Danny asked curiously, tilting his head to the side. Jason opened his mouth before pausing. An evil smirk suddenly adorned his face, which was rather normal for him.

"Why don't you try it, Danny?" Jason said and handed the kid the glass. Danny shrugged and took a sip. As he swallowed, he grimaced and made a disgusted noise.

"That's nasty." Danny commented.

"It gets better the more you drink it." Jason explained, waving off the nine-year-old's statement easily.

Danny looked between the drink and his brother. "Are you sure?"

"Yeahhhhhhh..." Jason answered, still smirking.

The Ghost Boy shrugged and took another small sip.

Danny stumbled up to his father and crashed into him, grabbing at the cloth of his father's dress pants. Bruce looked down startled at his suddenly clingy son. "Something wrong, Danny?"

"I'm-a tired..." Danny slurred, slumping.

Worriedly, Bruce picked up his youngest. As he set the Ghost Boy on his hip, a whiff on alcohol caught his attention. Bruce let a long sigh before screaming at the top of his lungs "JASON!"

"What?! The kid was gonna have his first drink some time!"

WE'RE ON CH. 100 PEOPLE! YYYYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!

Kadzait: Yippee.

DANCE WITH ME, KADDY! *drags Kad around, much to his dismay*

And better news; went to the dentist yesterday. NO CAVITIES AND I'LL NEVER NEED BRACES! YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
