To Have Your Arms Around Me…

"I don't care if it's not right/ To have your arms around me/ I want to feel what it's like/ to take all of you inside of me…"

Madonna, Forbidden Love

""

Luke spent a long while getting himself properly dried and then dressed. He was taking his own time so he'd avoid everyone for as long as possible––especially the one person who was responsible for his having to change the bedding every morning. Luke hated what was happening. He really wished that it wasn't happening. He wished he could just turn off his emotions; just forget about his ever growing feelings for Ravi. But he couldn't do that. He couldn't stop what he felt for the raven–head, no matter what he did or said about the situation.

Luke finally got himself dressed and when he was done he decided he might as well replace his sheets, put on some fresh ones, and maybe while he was at it he could clean up around the room––not the hectic spring cleaning he was forced to do once a year, but the 'shove clothes in wardrobe' type of clean up.

Luke was pretty disappointed when there were no longer any clothes on the floor to pick up and shove in his wardrobe. So with a sigh the teen headed out his room and downstairs to the kitchen. When he walked inside he found that Zuri was there along with Jessie and a complaining Bertram. Bertram was always complaining about something or another, there seriously was never a day where the large man actually said anything positive. It could get pretty damn annoying.

"Morning Luke," Jessie said with a smile and her usual happy tone. The addressed teen nodded his head and sat down at the table. He grabbed the box of cereal and a carton of milk and pouring them into the bowl that sat in front of him before adding a few good heaps of sugar. He needed the extra sugar if he wanted to get through the day partially sane.

The brunet started eating his sugary sweet cereal slowly; trying with everything he had to think about anything but his awfully, horrible dreams. But those damn dreams had a way of sneaking up on him without his noticing and by the time he noticed he'd be working a bulge––lucky for him it wouldn't be visible because he mostly wore baggy jeans.

Luke couldn't stand this! These feelings he had for his brother were ruining his life. All he wanted was to be a normal teen, get drunk, get a girl, enjoy his life and all that shit. But no, he just had to have feelings for his brother, his brother. He just had to be a freak of nature and fall for the one person he could seriously never have––because honestly, he would NEVER have Ravi, not in real life anyway.

Luke could argue all he wanted that he and Ravi weren't biological brothers, but legally they were; it was down in black and white that he and Ravi were brothers. They shared parents whether it was naturally or not and it sucked! Society would never accept their relationship, not in a million years! Most people still couldn't look past two guys being together in general; imagine two guys, who were legally brothers, being together.

Luke snorted to himself, not realising that he was doing it out loud. He was so lost in his thoughts. When Luke did realise that he'd actually snored out loud, he looked up to see who had heard him and almost jumped back in surprise at the look Zuri was giving him.

The youngest of the Ross clan had her eyes narrowed in deep concentration. She was looking at her brother almost as though she were trying to look into his very soul. Those large eyes stared at Luke almost unblinkingly and it freaked Luke the hell. First, those eyes freaked Luke out just by being that big, but they freaked him out even more so when Zuri gave him that looked.

And the freakiest part of the girls' look? It had to be the fact that she'd been giving him that 'all seeing eyes' look for a while now, Luke was sure he'd been getting that Luke for longer than a year now. It was freaky as shit! Every time Luke saw her giving him that look, he felt like squirming, as though Zuri could tell what he was thinking, what he most desired, as though she could see his deepest, darkest secret. The thought that Zuri might know scared Luke like nothing else.

"What?" the brunet asked after a while of staring back at Zuri. But Luke could only stare back so long before feeling like the teen girl was reading his mind or something equally freaky.

"What, what?" Zuri answered, still giving Luke that freaky eye look.

"Why are you looking at me?"

"Why shouldn't I look at you? What are you, the Queen?"

"No! It's freaky and annoying, so please just stop."

"Well excuse me, Sire." Zuri did this head roll, eye roll thing, her body just dripping attitude. Luke knew that if he said any more he was going to be in for an earful from the girl so he just shut up and continued to eat his sweet now soggy cereal, he'd poured too much milk in it.

At that moment Jessie returned to the kitchen with Emma in tow, Luke had been so deep in thought he hadn't even realised anyone leave. The blonde girl was talking animatedly about some fashion show Kitty Couture had been exclusively invited to. She was currently trying to convince Jessie to go with her. Luke would rather die than sit through one of those things.

"It's going to be amazing, Jessie!" Emma said excitedly as she sat down at the table beside Zuri.

"I can't leave Zuri all on her own," Jessie said simply with a sigh, like she'd been saying the same thing for a while now. Actually, she might very well have been, but Emma became hard of hearing if she wanted something to go her way.

"She can stay with Bertram," Emma said almost as though it was the most obvious thing ever.

"I don't need a babysitter," Zuri protested, finally turning away from Luke, much to the freckled boy's relief. He was really getting tired of those eyes being on him all the damn time.

"He's not going to babysit. He's just going to make sure you stay out of trouble."

"I'm not a kid anymore, Jessie, I don't need looking after."

Jessie sighed before turning back to the blonde girl and saying, "Emma, can't you take Rosie?"

"It's going to be her grandmother's birthday," Emma said with a slight whine and a pout to match. "Apparently it's this really huge thing for the family. Come on Jessie, please?"

Jessie looked at Emma then at Zuri, who gave the woman her 'I'm an angel' eyes, then back at Emma. After a long moment of silence Jessie sighed, relenting, and Emma squealed, pulling Jessie into a hug before settling down to her breakfast.

"I promise you will not regret coming!" the blonde girl said with a large smile on her face.

"Sure Emma," Jessie said, rolling her eyes as she packed Zuri's lunch for her.

"Jessie, Misses Kipling ate my sock!" Ravi said as he walked into the kitchen with no shoes on. Luke looked up at his brother and found Ravi's hair looking a bit dishevelled and his clothes a bit rumpled. It was almost like he'd been… No Luke, no! Luke looked back down at his cereal, but suddenly, he'd lost what little appetite he'd had.

"Don't you have another pair?" the nanny asked the raven–head.

"No, I don't have any clean ones. Someone keeps stealing my socks!" Ravi pointedly glared at Luke but the freckled teen made it a point to ignore his brother. Ravi narrowed his eyes at the boy but then huffed, turning back to Jessie. "Jessie I need socks."

"Can't you wear shoes that don't need socks?" Emma asked, flipping her blonde curls back as she ate her fruit salad.

"I don't have shoes that don't need socks."

"Okay Rav, just sit down and eat your breakfast, I'll go find you socks," Jessie said, ruffling the teens hair and heading out the kitchen to find socks.

Ravi sighed then sat down at the table across from Luke. Luke continued to ignore the raven haired boy mostly because he didn't want to think about all his dirty dreams––not that not looking at Ravi was going to stop him from thinking about the dreams.

It was inevitable that Luke would think about his dirty dreams now that Ravi was sitting right across from him. And to make it worse, Luke could smell Ravi's spicy deodorant which only just seemed to fuel his imagination.

Luke actually felt sick, like 'I want to throw up right now' sick. He dropped his spoon in his bowl in a clatter and just stared down at the bowl, not wanting to look up at the reason for his screwed up emotions. He could literally feel Zuri's large eyes on him, analysing, calculating; concluding. Luke wanted to crawl under a rock and die! What made everything ten times worse was that he could also feel Ravi looking at him from across the table. The freckled teen ignored the looks though; he would not let them make him squirm!

The table was horribly silent and all that could be heard was the sound of spoons scraping against bowls and occasionally the ting of Emma's cellphone and then her fast tap–tap–taps as she typed. Either than that though, everyone was quite. Luke refused to look up from his bowl.

"Okay Rav," Jessie said loudly, breaking the silence in the room as she walked back into the kitchen with two socks that had almost similar colours. Luke let out a puff of air, happy that the stifling silence was broken and the attention was finally away from him. The freckled teen looked up at his nanny, it beat staring down at his cereal. "I found two socks, not the same but close enough. I'm doing laundry today so you'll have clean socks for tomorrow."

"Thank you, Jessie," Ravi said with a smile, taking the socks and shoved them in his pocket.

Luke's heart skipped a beat and broken at the same, that smile Ravi gave Jessie… Luke hadn't gotten a smile like that in a long time. It was mostly because he was constantly being a jerk to Ravi, but still, he missed that smile. Actually, he missed the simpler days, when he and Luke would argue about stupid things but would make up before the day's end.

Now the pair could go days without saying a word to each other and when they did finally decide to say something to one another it was usually some snide or rude remark. But to be honest, most of those remarks came from Luke. But he couldn't help it, this was the only way he'd be able to make sure Ravi never found out about his feelings, it would be the only way to make sure that nobody found out about his feelings.

"Luke, you should really stop stealing your brother's socks," Jessie said looking at the brunet with a reprimanding look. Dammit! Why did Jessie have to address him now? Did she not realise he was trying to ignore everyone and was trying to get everyone––Ravi and Zuri––to ignore him?

Too late though. Both Ravi and Zuri were looking at him, waiting for him to answer. With a soft, short sigh Luke said, "I don't steal his socks. Why would I do that?" he did steal Ravi's socks, mostly because his hardly ever found their way to the laundry.

"Yes, you do take my socks!" Ravi protested sounding annoyed; his accent deepening with the annoyance. Though Ravi's accent had softened over the years, there were times when it would make a return, mostly when he was angry or annoyed. "And you take my clothes too! Then I never have anything decent to wear." Okay, Luke did have a tendency of wearing some of Ravi's clothes too, but he hadn't done it in a while!

"It's not like you need most of your stuff anyway," Luke defended albeit weakly. He could already tell this conversation wouldn't end well, conversations with Ravi never ended well these days. "You never go anywhere anyway." Ravi glared heatedly. And fuck if that didn't do things to Luke's nether areas.

"I go places!"

"Yeah, you go to your stupid dorky nerd meetings."

"They aren't dorky nerd meetings nor are they stupid!"

"Yes they are dammit!"

"No they aren't!"

"Yes they are!"

"Whatever! I don't care what you think anyway. Your opinion doesn't matter to me." That one actually hurt but Luke pretended he was unfazed by it. He––instead of showing his hurt at the comment––pulled a face and decided to just leave the kitchen. He was glad that he wore baggy jeans since were able to hide his little… uh… problem.

Luke reached his room, his mood deteriorating greatly. He just couldn't understand why he couldn't shut up. He could avoid so many arguments with Ravi, but it's like when they started he just couldn't stop. He hated that, hated that he was always arguing with Ravi, just making their already dead friendship even worse.

With a long, tired sigh Luke pulled off all his clothes, save for his underwear, and got into bed. He curled up into a tight ball and pulled the covers over his head. He was planning on sleeping for the rest of the day and hopefully all through the night. Maybe the next day would start better, maybe even go better.

Luke's hopes were short lived because just as he was about to doze off, a loud knock came at his door. Luke ignored it at first, hoping that whoever was knocking would just go away if he didn't answer. It never happened though, because the knocking got louder and a moment later, Jessie called. Luke ignored the call, just wanting to sleep, preferably forever!

"Luke, come out from in there, your parents are going to call soon," the girl said through the door. "We're all meeting in the living room in ten minutes. Your parents have an announcement to make."

Luke sighed to himself, realising that Jessie was not going to leave. He literally dragged himself out of bed. He seriously didn't want to have to be in the same room as Ravi, and he especially didn't want to be in the same room as Zuri. Her eyes unnerved him to a level that he seriously didn't like, no, scratch unnerved, they scared him.

"Luke?" Jessie called once again.

Luke let out another sigh, this one more dramatic and filled with annoyance and frustration. "Alright, I'm coming," the teen called back, pulling on his clothes. He had seriously been planning on sleeping all day long, damn his parents for wanting to call during his self–loathing time.

When the teen was dress once more, he pulled open his door and found Jessie waiting for him. The woman looked at him carefully but Luke ignored the look. He didn't have the energy to find a quick excuse that would satisfy Jessie and keep her from asking too many questions so instead he just ignored her look completely and headed downstairs where his siblings were waiting by the laptop.

Luke didn't want to sit on the couch, the only places available were beside Ravi or beside Zuri since Emma sat in the middle. Instead Luke stood behind his three siblings. Jessie joined him a few moments later and put a comforting arm around Luke. The freckled teen allowed it, he needed comfort.

Emma logged onto Skype and clicked on her mother's username. A few moments later Morgan and Christina Ross were on the screen, smiling brightly at their children.

"Hey guys," the blonde woman said, waving at her children.

"Hey mom," the kids replied––though Luke didn't say it with as much enthusiasm as his siblings.

"So your dad and I have an announcement to make," Christina Ross said.

"Wait, you're not having another child are you?" Emma asked, sounding horrified by the mere idea of having to have another child in the family.

"No, not any time soon," Christina said.

"Oh, good, because I am not ready to have a child crying at all hours of the night, messing with my sleeping patters."

"So anyway, remember that movie I was working on?" Morgan Ross asked his kids. They all nodded, remembering the movie that'd been highly anticipated since it was confirmed it was being made. "Well it's finally done and we're going to be having a special screening in… drum roll please." The three kids did a drumroll on the coffee table. "Ibiza, Spain."

The three kids on the couch cheered excitedly at the news while Luke managed a smile. They'd been begging for vacation for a long while.

"Your dad and I are coming home tomorrow then we can get everything together for the trip. So you guys need to start packing." Emma was the first one up, calling goodbye to her parents as she hurried to her room to started packing, pulling Jessie with her so she'd have a 'consultant'. Ravi and Zuri left at a much slower pace, though they too were excitedly, already talking about what they'd do when they got to their vacation destination.

Luke was about to turn and leave too but was stopped by his mother calling out for him. He looked at the screen and found his parents looking at him with concern. They'd heard from Jessie that Luke hadn't been himself and were getting worried.

"What's up?" the teen asked.

"Are you all right sweetie?" Christina asked carefully.

"Sure, yeah, I'm fine mom."

"Are you sure? You know you can talk to us about anything."

'No, not everything,' Luke thought to himself. Outwardly though he nodded, saying, "Yeah mom, I know I can."

"All right… Well go pack up, we'll see you soon, okay?"

"Sure. Bye."

"Bye, honey." Luke switched the computer off then left the living room and headed up to his room to start packing.

""

Luke was barely halfway through his packing when Jessie called him down to the kitchen. With much reluctance Luke went. He sat on the counter while Ravi, Zuri, Emma and Bertram took the chairs. Jessie stood by the refrigerator with a clipboard. When everyone was settled the woman looked up from her board.

"Okay, so Morgan and Christina just sent me this e-mail," she said. "The trip is going to be three weeks long and we're going to be staying at…" Jessie paused, her face turning into a frown as she slowly read the words from the page, "Les flors de la primavera de l'hotel. Hmm! Morgan and Christina have booked four rooms for the whole family which means we'll have to share."

"What? No!" Emma protested.

"Yes Emma, don't argue. Anyway, two of the four rooms will have to be shared. Zuri, you, Emma and I are going to share one of the rooms, your parents have already arranged for there to be an extra bed there. Bertram will have a room to himself––"

"Yes!" Bertram all but shouted before looking down sheepishly.

"Anyway… Ravi, you and Luke are going to share the other bed." No! Absolutely not! Luke could not, could not, share a room with Ravi. It was just… no!

"I'd rather sleep under a bridge then sleep in the same room as him," Luke said as maliciously as possible. Oh goodness please, he couldn't share a room with Ravi, not for three whole weeks. He just… no, please, no!

Ravi looked hurt by the words, his face turning into a frown. Luke felt like a complete dick, his heart breaking even more because of the look, but he kept his features the same. He just couldn't––couldn't!––let Ravi know the truth or even suspect anything about him and sharing a room with the raven–head would surely reveal things. Luke just couldn't allow it!

"Can't Ravi share a room with Bertram?"

"No!" Bertram shouted. "I mean, no," he said more calmly. "I snore."

"You're sharing a room with Ravi whether you like it or not," Emma said with finality, glaring at her brother. "If I have to share a room with two other people, you can share it with one person."

"And apologise to Ravi, what you said was mean," Zuri added.

"I'm not apologising for anything!" Luke said. "I don't want to share a room with him, and I will say it. I won't fake like I want to be around him when I don't."

"Luke––"

"Well you know what?" Ravi cut Emma off. "I don't want to be around you either! You can sleep under a bridge for all I care. It'll make no difference to me either!" Ravi's voice sounded choked up at the end, almost as though he'd wanted to cry, and with that the Indian boy stormed out the kitchen.

"Nice move, jerk–face," Emma said as she got up and hurried out after Ravi.

"You've turned into a real asshole, I hope you know that," Zuri said as she too got up and left the kitchen.

Luke looked down at the floor, not wanting to meet Jessie or Bertram's eyes. He could feel tears burning hot in his eyes because fuck, just… just FUCK!

Luke hopped off the counter and without another word left the kitchen. He slowly made his way to his room, feeling ten times worse than he had before. He was just making everything worse, so much worse. The teen once more pulled all his clothes off and crawled into bed. This time nobody disturbed him, but he couldn't sleep.

His mind was filled with Ravi's breaking voice, the way he looked before he stormed out the kitchen. The way Emma and Zuri looked at him, with such disappointment. Luke didn't think Ravi hated him, not yet anyway. But he knew, he just knew that the more he acted like this the worse things would get.

But he couldn't help it. If this was the way that was supposed to help Luke keep his secret, then fine. If it meant having Ravi hate him, then okay. As much as it physically and emotionally hurt, Luke would endure. He'd much rather have Ravi hate him for something he did rather than for something Luke had no say over. Because he really couldn't help who he fell in love with, it really wasn't his fault.

But why did it have to be Ravi? Of all the people he could fall for, it just had to be his brother? Why couldn't it have been some other guy? Any other guy would've been fine! But no, Luke just had to go and fall for the one person he honestly could never have. It was… it was just… it was just so unfair!

This whole thing was ruining his life. He was probably number one in his sisters' 'People I dislike' list and Ravi… well Ravi obviously didn't like him. Wait, Ravi was probably close to hating him now and it was nobody but his fault. He was the one that was continuously being a jerk to Ravi. But he had to be like this, he had to act like a complete jerk because he couldn't let Ravi know the truth.

Eventually Luke did fall asleep, but it wasn't an escape from real life because his dreams were filled with Ravi's broken face and tear-filled voice…

TBC…

The endings a bit dodgy but I didn't want to drag this on any longer than necessary. Hope you liked it either way. Thank you for reading :)).

Anywhoo…
