Fate: Devil Night

Chapter19: Devil II

Dimensional Gap
Reality Marble: Unlimited Blade Works
Void

A star was born, erasing the hell that existed in a sea of fire that spread out across the fracturing world. Hell disappeared as a everyone tried to cover themselves in the vain hope of not being burned only to blink in confusion when there was no heat. The world changed in an instant, gone was the fire and brimstone of the Devil's Requiemand in its place was a barren land, the ground scorched black as if something had burned away even the colour of rock.

Swords, endless swords were scattered across the world, each one more magnificent than the last. Everyone on both sides couldn't help but stare in amazement at the scene before them as they tried and failed to comprehend what had just happened. Even Ravel was openly staring at the world her Queen had called forth in awe. While it was true that she'd heard about it and had even seen Rizevim invoke his own, it was something else entirely to actually see it for the first time.

"This is…" Rizevim trailed off in anger.

"Switching individual and collective. Fantasy and reality. Inside and outside. Rewriting the world with one's mind," Shirou said to him. "The innermost thaumaturgy, a Reality Marble. This is the place that he and I both saw. Well? What do you think? Do you have enough power left to face my blades, Son of Lucifer?" Rizevim snarled at him in anger, not only at his words but at the audacity of this upstart devil. Challenging him was one thing but he had spent years changing himself in order to call forth the Devil's Requiem and now it had been overwritten by this world of swords.

He couldn't accept such a thing…

"Disappear, you and your blades," Rizevim snarled again as he brought his hands up and a large demonic magic seal appeared in the air in front of him.

It was blood red in colour with the crest of Lucifer on it, many miles across and equally as many miles high. Ravel had to blink in surprise as she stared at it in wonder. This was the power of a Super-Devil, the power of Rizevim Livan Lucifer when he wasn't maintaining his Reality Marble and instead using his demonic energy to power his attacks. Shirou didn't care; he wasn't just going to let such a thing stop him from ending this. He raised his hand in front of him once more and dozens, hundreds, thousands of blades lifted themselves into the air behind him. Famed swords, treasured swords, honed swords, divine swords, cursed swords, magic swords, razor swords, blunt swords, they all hung in the air and pointed towards the Son of Lucifer.

And then they moved…

Demonic power lashed out from Rizevim's seal, unleashing a blast of death so pontent that the world seemed to crack, only for it to be stopped by the endless barrage of steel. It was a tornado of swords pushing the blast back, from the weakest to the strongest, and still it wasn't enough. Rizevim was simply too strong, even without a Reality Marble augmenting his abilities he was still a Super-Devil, and that fact couldn't be ignored.

Not now…

"You can't win boy!" Rizevim roared over the clash of power and steel. "You're barely holding yourself together as it is! Your King and Servant can't help you! You will die here alone with them!"

Die alone…

Alone…

Just like he did…

No…

He refused that fate…

Shirou smiled, a warm and kind smile despite the situation, because he knew, he always did, even back then. Unlike EMIYA who walked the path of a hero similar to what Kiritsugu walked, Shirou was never alone. Ravel, Medea, Sakura, even Issei and Xenovia, and of course Miyu.

"Turn your head to the left," a voice spoke up from behind him.

He didn't hesitate; he simply shifted his neck a little moving his head to the side. A split second later something flew passed his face as a loud bang roared behind him, seemingly louder than the noise that the clash in front of him was making. There was no time to dodge, not while he was locked in combat with Shirou. The Sorcery Bullet struck him dead center in the forehead, snapping his head back and breaking his concentration. Rizevim screamed as the bullet tore apart his very soul even as a barrage of steel broke through his attack and descended upon him like rain. He disappeared beneath the storm as his screams suddenly died off leaving nothing but the sound of swords striking the ground where he stood.

"We were never alone," Shirou said quietly. "Right Miyu?"

"Right Oniichan," Miyu nodded as she walked up beside him.

"…Is it over?" Caster asked the question.

"Yes," Ravel answered with a sigh. "It's over."

Suddenly Shirou doubled over in pain as the world around him seemed to shake, as if an earthquake. Miyu rushed over to his side as the massive gears that hung in the sky above them suddenly stopped turning and started to fall. The sky broke upon and shattered like glass, revealing the nothingness beyond and the being that gazed down upon them. It took a moment for Ravel to realise what it was and she took a step back when she did.

It was a dragon…

A big red dragon…

Great Red…

"I, think Great Red has taken notice of you," Ophis spoke up.

Another Dragon God…

And they were technically in its territory…

Dragons didn't like it when people invaded their territory…

"And that is our cue to leave," Ravel declared. "Let's meet up with the others and get out of here!"

Far away across the world of swords, two dragons fought, their attacks tearing the very land they fought upon apart. A single flap of their wings obliterated mountains, created valleys and destroyed the very air itself. Their power was astonishing, their speed even more so, but in the end one of them would fall. A punch from both of them connected with each other and the world shook as the ground cracked open below them like an egg.

"Vali!" the red dragon roared.

"Issei," the white dragon roared back.

Again and again they clashed, throwing punches so fast that they seemed to be constant blurs. They were strong, inhumanly so, and they proved it time and time again as they continued to pound away at each other, the desire to prove themselves as the best. Vali struck a heavy blow to Issei's chest knocking him to the ground and followed it up with kick that sent him flying across the landscape for severak miles, tearing up the ground as he went.

"You can't keep this any longer my rival," Vali told him. "You know that."

HE was right, in a battle of attrition between the two of them Vali always had the upper hand because of his ability to absorb energy from him while they were fighting. He had to end this now before Vali absorbed anymore of his power, both his and Ddraig's. He only had one last card up his sleeve though he hoped that it worked. He backed off, flying high up into the sky and landed on one of the black spinning gears. Wirth a roar he started to gather energy into his stomach, compressing it as the metal plates on his chest opened up. One shot, that's all he had, so he'd better make it count. Vali flew up at him as Issei took aim and roared once more, this time calling out the name of his most powerful attack, the Red Dragon Emperor's final judgement.

"Longinus Smasher!"

Two beams shot forth from his chest glowing a silvery red, death and destruction incarnate. The beams split the sky itself before washing over Vali's form and striking the ground below them, obliterating everything it touched. For a moment Issei thought that was it but was proven false when Vali's voice sounded over the roar.

"World Divide!"

The beams were seemingly repulsed as the world around them cracked and fractured. Issei felt his body implode for a second before he returned to normal and he fell, no longer in his Juggernaut Drive form.

It was over…

"You fought well my Rival," Vali spoke as he stood over his beaten form. "But this is the end," he had nothing left, no weapons, no Sacred Gears to aid him, even the Evil Pieces were useless even if he promoted, not that he could now that the world they were in wasn't enemy territory. "Goodbye Kotomine Issei," he said as he moved in for the kill.

Blood splattered on the scorched ground…

"W-what?" Vali whispered in confusion. He looked down and saw blood. How? What happened? Looking behind him he saw another Issei, this one wearing regular clothes with Ascalon in his hands. The Dragon-Slaying blade buried straight through Vali's back. Looking back to the original Issei he saw his form shimmer and then disappear leaving the Boosted Gear and a lone card on the ground.

"Uninstall," Ddraig's voice echoed.

Issei breathed harshly as he removed the blade and took a step back as Vali crumbled to the ground. The timing wasn't perfect but he did it, he managed to get the drop on Vali at the last second. Of course he knew that it wouldn't have been possible if he hadn't talked with the Matou girl first. The Boosted Gear was an artefact crafted by the God from the Bible and as such was granted a certain level of autonomy due to the Heavenly Dragon sealed within it. He had been given as Assassin card by Miyu before she was taken and with Sakura's help he was able to combine it with his Sacred Gear like she could with her Kaliedostick Ruby.

This was the result, Ddraig could use the Assassin card and Install it creating a copy of him allowing the real him to move behind his opponent and stab them in the back. The Heroic Spirit in the card was Hassah-i-Sabah, otherwise known as The Old Man of the Mountain, one of the nineteen leaders of the Hashshashin. This particular Assassin had a C-Rank Noble Phantasm that allowed him-her to split into dozens of 'others' and this carried over to the card and its users.

Zabaniya: Delusion Illusion

Issei was just about to let out a sigh of relief when he felt more saw a figure descend from above. He recognized the newcomer instantly, Bikou, the descendant of the Monkey King. "…Take him and go," Issei told him. "I wish to fight him again one day," Bikou didn't say a word, merely picking up his friend and fleeing. Issei watched them go and sighed. That was without a doubt the toughest fight he'd ever been in and he'd enjoyed it immensely.

Now it was time to regroup with the others…
