The world ended soon after, or at least the Unlimited Blade Works did. With Great Red's presence in the area of the Dimensional Gap that his Reality Marble was in, Shirou barely managed to hold it long enough for the allied forces to withdraw before releasing it. It was a close call, far too close. If they had waited even one minute later then they all would have died and that would have been it. The aftermath of the battle was just as hectic as the actual fighting with everyone trying to organize themselves and deal with the fallout.
There were prisoners, either those that had been captured or those that had surrendered after Rizevim was killed and Great Red showed up. For Ravel and the others, they returned home to the Emiya Residences after meeting up. It was over, for now anyway. Night had fallen when Shirou stepped out into the courtyard and looked up at the star filled sky. The fight with Rizevim had been intense, just as intense as those of the Grail War, and even now he couldn't believe it.
He couldn't believe after all of that he survived…
"Shirou?" a familiar voice asked from behind him. He looked over his shoulder and saw Ravel standing at the edge of the open corridor wearing her pyjamas. She looked like she was about to head to bed and judging by the packet of sweets in her hand she'd decided to get a snack beforehand.
"Ravel?" he nodded in greeting.
"What are you doing up?" the Phenex heiress inquired as she approached.
"I couldn't sleep," Shirou answered with a sigh.
"Something on your mind?" Ravel questioned further.
"The fight against Rizevim," Shirou replied. "And what happened after."
"We survived," she told him. "And the Khaos Brigade has been crippled, at least for the moment."
"…But what now?" the silver-haired asked the question. After all the battles they had fought, all the conflicts that they'd, where do they go from here? There was no going back to the way things used to be before everything so that the only left one way to go, forward.
"Now?" Ravel mused. "We've got school tomorrow so we'd better get some sleep. After all, we'll need to be fully rested to deal with the next crisis, won't we?"
Shirou just shook his head with a smile…
Of course…
How could he forget?
Ravel was never one to look back…
Only forward…
As she dragged him to his room he idly thought back to all those years ago when he first summoned her, calling her forth and meeting her for the first time. Looking back on it that was the day his life really changed and the possibility of becoming like EMIYA was forever closed to him. After all unlike him he was never alone. What the future held for them was still unknown but as long as they were together then he wouldn't worry about it and keep moving forward. In the end Emiya Shirou's existence would forever be tied to hers, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
