Reborn seemed to be taking things well.
If by well one meant he was hitting the liquor extra hard whenever something that went beyond what he was used to happened, like when he found out that over half the city was one of the 'animal people' as he called them.
When he wasn't taking out his hysteria on Hayato (mostly to try and hammer it in that being a hot head was a good way to end up dead, with his Boss next to him) or training Takeshi (the kid was a natural hit man), he was tutoring Tsuna in college level courses. There were only a few classes he wasn't automatically exempt from because of his college degree, and they were all subjects he was mediocre at, like math.
He took the bombs rather well, considering he was supposed to be a civilian.
However someone showed up that had Reborn throwing his hands up in defeat, because it meant that Hayato wasn't just some sort of horrible fluke.
Lambo of the Bovino famiglia came to kill Reborn...and ended up Woging in front of Reborn without trying to hide it. Suddenly those stupid horns of his made far too much sense.
Tsuna picked up the baby Taurus-Armenta and cuddled with the kid. He was a bit young to Woge, but that meant nothing in the mafia. Considering he was easily excitable, it wasn't that shocking.
"There, there little bull..." said Tsuna, soothing the five year old.
Lambo sniffled, before curling into Tsuna's arms.
"Geez, who sends a baby Taurus to kill a human? It's like they were wanting him to get killed by a Grimm or turned into a side show," said Hayato.
Lambo looked at Hayato, eyes wide and full of curiosity, so he woged too, causing the little Wesen to brighten up.
Tsuna put Lambo down with a bowl of grapes.
"Little bull, did your papa send you after Reborn?" he asked gently, wanting to know very much who he was going to chew out for this travesty.
Lambo shook his head.
"Papa was killed by a lady with a weird tail and furry face with bad food. Mama died too. But Uncle said that if I kill Reborn I'll be a full member of the Family!" said Lambo brightly.
Tsuna looked to Reborn to translate.
"He was told by the head of the less friendly half of the Bovino famiglia to target me. Likely so I'd eventually get annoyed and take him out," said Reborn.
"I see," said Tsuna darkly. "They're Italian, right?"
"What do you think?" deadpanned Reborn.
Tsuna went into his room and took out a stamp that had Hayato hissing at the symbol. It took Reborn a minute to register it was some form of the letter "G", though why Hayato hissed like that was a mystery.
"In the Wesen world, especially the old country, this symbol is synonymous with 'Grimm'," explained Tsuna. "Grandpa gave this to me to act as a seal so other Grimm would know it was another Grimm asking for aid or sending warning. There aren't many left, and most people send texts these days. But for warnings to large clans of Wesen, this is perfect for intimidation."
"...You might want to add your Flames to the seal, to make the message you're trying to send stick."
Tsuna nodded, and once he wrote the letter to the family (more like dressing down for risking the local Wesen community with a child who hadn't learned to keep his Woges under wraps) he lit up into Hyper Dying Will mode and pressed down on the fresh wax with the seal, which now held a strong trace of his Dying Will Flame. Reborn made sure to sign it at the bottom to let them know that this was a reprimand from not only Grimm, but someone connected to the underworld.
After that, he used the Shadow Post (for underworld use only, and guaranteed that the mail wouldn't be tampered with until it reached it's destination) to send it straight to the Bovino family.
Needless to say when the Bovino Boss saw that seal, the Dying Will Flame (which only Timoteo of the Vongola bothered to use, and now his heir apparently) and Reborn's signature he damn near had a heart attack.
Reborn would cheerfully report that the Bovino family suffered a series of unfortunate accidents with the more reckless members (read: Wesen who hadn't bothered to contain themselves) and Tsuna got a nice letter from the famiglia asking him if he wouldn't mind keeping Lambo there until he either learned discretion or was old enough to be properly trained. The brat was Active, and odds were he'd end up as Tsuna's Lightning Guardian if they did things right.
Nana was just happy to have a little boy to spoil rotten with love in the house again.
Reborn was observing Hayato's time in the Arena. Now that he was clued into the Other world, he was allowed in to watch. He had to admit, for a hot head Hayato knew how to use those claws and his fangs really well. Then again, he probably had quite a bit of practice.
His bombs had been confiscated by Tsuna long before he came to the Arena, which had anything from an ancient gladiator pit and to cage fights.
Tsuna came at least twice a week to resupply the medical area, and to check for any problems. There was another Arena for those who practiced less-than-savory rites (such as Jägerbar undergoing the Roh-Hatz) far from anyone who could hear the screams of the criminals provided. There was even a helpful area where they could dump the remains of the victims.
Ironically it was this arena that did the most to improve the 'friendly' relationship between the two Grimm and the entire town of Wesen. The fact they allowed the more gruesome rites to be done within certain restrictions won a lot of approval with the more hard-core Wesen in town.
It also meant Namimori had the lowest rate of crime in the entire prefecture. Criminals with confirmed life sentences knew that if they were caught then their lives would be forfeit the second they disappeared into the 'special' jail. It helped to have a Hexenbiest as a judge who was more than happy to send such people to their deaths.
Who cared about serial rapists, pedophiles and murderers anyway? It was a public service, as far as Tsuna was concerned.
Which ironically won the approval of Reborn, considering a Mafia Boss needed to have standards and know when things had gone too far and they needed to do a little "spring cleaning".
Hayato won his match, barely, and walked out with a satisfied grin on his face.
"Well done."
"Yeah, well it's not like I'm that weird human in the cage over. That guy is extreme!"
Considering one of the rare humans allowed into the arenas had a habit of yelling "Extreme!" all the time, Reborn snorted. However he was sure the boy would make an excellent Sun Guardian for Tsuna.
"How did a human get in here anyway?" asked Reborn.
He was only allowed in because Tsuna vouched for him, and because he was mostly there to observe. He had a badge around his neck proclaiming he was a "human observer only"...anyone stupid enough to bother him was going to suffer immensely.
"Ryohei kept bothering the Dickfellig for boxing matches and eventually they lost their patience and showed him the arenas...after they made him sign a waiver. Once he got over his initial shock he became a regular, because none of the human fighters in the city can even hope to match him anymore. Which only got the respect of the Wesen, since outside of the headache of him yelling 'extreme' all the time he's a very good fighter."
"He'd make a good Guardian too. He's got the same Flame I do," said Reborn.
"...Keep him far away from my shop and I'll consider it. He's very loud and I have no interest in boxing," said Tsuna flatly.
Reborn smirked, and went to convince the loud boxer into being Tsuna's Sun Guardian.
Ryohei quickly declared "Master Pao Pao" very extreme indeed and apparently knew Tsuna well enough to know who the man was talking about on sight.
Mostly because he was usually dragging some of his friends into the shop for some patch work or buying remedies to heal his injuries so his sister didn't get upset. Tsuna would always give him an exasperated look, but fixed him up and kept his silence from Ryohei's sister Kyoko.
Under mutual agreement, they also kept Kyoko and her friend Hana firmly out of the "other" world and any fighting. Ryohei almost worried Tsuna had a crush on his sister, but he was quick to put that to rest.
Kyoko looked way too much like his mother for him to even consider her as anything more than a possible friend. He didn't have an Oedipus complex, thank you very much.
Tsuna was on his way to school when he saw a woman with pink hair and an aura that spelled trouble.
The fact she tried to poison him was just rude though.
"Ugh, I had the most annoying day. Some stupid idiot tried to poison me," said Tsuna.
"That was likely Bianchi. I heard she was in town looking for me," said Reborn. He was covered in bugs.
Tsuna gave him an odd look.
"Did you import those or something? I haven't seen that breed around here in a while."
"No. I speak bug and know where to look."
"Oh. Well if you want a terrarium or something else to put them in, let me know. Certain bugs are really useful for my remedies," said Tsuna.
"Leon likes meal worms and crickets," supplied Reborn.
"I'll pick some up later. So you know this Bianchi person?"
Before Reborn had a chance to explain about the woman, the doorbell rang. With the window open, Tsuna was able to get a glimpse of pink hair and a hat.
"I have the distinct feeling she's here," he said dryly. "Is she mafia?"
"Named hit woman who specializes in poison cooking," said Reborn.
"Well in that case, my response will be considered perfectly reasonable," said Tsuna, already reaching for the crossbow. He loaded it up with some tranqs that were safe for both human and Wesen attackers, and made sure it was hidden from view when he opened the door.
What followed next was a blur, but the second Bianchi went after Tsuna and he responded with the darts, she shifted.
"NOT YOU TOO!" shouted Reborn in open exasperation. How the hell did most of his associates keep turning out to be Wesen who had hidden from him?!
Bianchi spared a glance at Reborn in surprise, before she narrowed her eyes at Tsuna.
"Grimm."
"You're a Manticore, aren't you. Just my luck..." muttered Tsuna in exasperation.
He went out the side door and bolted, already texting Kyouya about the fact that there was a pissed off Manticore in town after him, so he could keep the civilians (read: non Wesen) out of the way.
Within ten minutes, anyone who didn't know of Wesen or wasn't one themselves had been told to avoid the area. Hayato, on the other hand, shifted and went straight to his Boss once alerted.
He was not happy seeing a Manticore after Tsuna.
He roared, and tried to claw her face off.
They played a game of cat and mouse, with Tsuna dodging her deadly tail that left melted pits wherever it hit. There was a red aura, so clearly she had augmented the deadly venom in the tail with her Storm flames.
As if she wasn't bad enough.
It wasn't until they reached the Arena that things turned into their favor.
Bianchi was completely blindsided when Takeshi threw one of the special weapons and knocked her flat on her ass, before binding her tail to her body, making it hard for her to move or use her Flames.
She hissed at him, waiting for the ax to fall.
"Mind explaining what the hell you're doing in town trying to kill someone who has never even met you before?" demanded Tsuna, more than a little pissed off. Hayato was still Woged and growling.
"I kill you and Reborn goes back to being a hit man," she said, angrily.
"How the hell does a manticore know Reborn?" said Hayato.
Bianchi blinked...before she was staring at the Balam in shock.
She switched back to her human disguise... and Hayato passed out from stomach cramps.
"...Someone mind explaining what just happened to my employee?" asked Tsuna blandly. He was already taking out a vial to help Hayato recover, though the hiss Bianchi gave said volumes.
"Bianchi is Hayato's older sister," said Reborn helpfully. "Though I had no idea she was Wesen."
Bianchi stared at Reborn in shock.
"He's human, and didn't know until he came here to train me," said Tsuna absentmindedly. He looked at the damage to the Arena and stated flatly "I am so not paying for repairs!"
"What is it with you and people either pissing themselves in fear or trying to kill you on sight?" asked Reborn exasperated.
"I'm a Grimm. My ancestors have long since cultivated a reputation for taking the heads of Wesen who misbehave for over four hundred years, and with the way rumors spread..." said Tsuna, tiredly. "Do you have any idea how long it took for the Wesen to realize I was more interested in running a shop than going after them?"
Hayato looked horrible, so Tsuna had Takeshi take him to the medical bay to lie down.
Then Tsuna turned to Bianchi with a tired expression.
"I'll forgive your first attempt because you're new here and haven't learned the rules, but if you attack a second time I'll bring Kyouya in. He'd probably love matching his skills against a Manticore. If you want to stick around to be close to Reborn, that's fine."
"...You're a Grimm. Why aren't you killing me?"
Tsuna rolled his eyes.
"I personally prefer dealing with Wesen. At least they take me seriously. Not all Grimm are ax-happy and ready to kill Wesen on sight whenever they find one. Hell, I'm probably going to be the only source in town you're likely to find for proper poison supplies since most folded under five years ago. Word of warning though, any hits you plan on going on should have a proper contract and not be local, otherwise you'll run the risk of having Kyouya after you. He's more likely to kill you than I am," said Tsuna.
He went to check on Hayato.
"You alright?"
"Ugh... please tell me I was hallucinating when I saw my sister Woge into a damn manticore."
"No such luck," said Tsuna sympathetic.
"Well at least now I know that they lied to me," said Hayato, not even bothering to sit up.
No way in hell would a Balam and a Manticore be born from the same family unless they had a different parent between them.
"You feel up to moving?"
"I'd rather just lie here for a bit."
"Think you can help me carry him to the shop? If we're here before the first fighters show up..."
Takeshi snickered.
"Yeah, good thing there aren't any cameras," he said, hoisting Hayato over his left shoulder.
Tsuna noticed Reborn still in the arena.
"Oi, Reborn! Leave her there until the first round fighters show up, otherwise they might make us pay for the damages she caused to the arena!"
Reborn smirked and was on Tsuna's shoulder in seconds. Bianchi could pay for the damages and she did deserve it for flying off the handle like that.
Soon after being untied, Bianchi put the fear of god into the organizers for the night when they tried to intimidate her into paying. She showed up in Tsuna's house a few days later, mostly to be near Reborn.
At least she didn't have to hide her other side from him anymore.
