Chapter 19: Train ride
Raven finally managed to make it to the train station. As she entered the train station, she was blasted by cold air. According to the poster just on the inside of the station door, it was at a cool temperature to appeal to the tourists from the kingdoms that were to the North that got a lot of snow and were not accustomed to the hot temperatures of Darkland.
Wincing in pain, she headed over to the counter. She pressed the bell for service.
An elderly Parakoopa limped to the counter.
"Can I help you, dearie?" The woman rasped out.
"Hello. Can I get a ticket to the Mushroom Kingdom?" She asked politely.
The lady puttered around behind the counter.
"Can I see your passport?" She asked kindly.
Raven rummaged through her bag and pulled it out, handing it over.
"Here you are ma'am." She chirped.
The parakoopa looked over the passport, eyes widening. It was universal knowledge that anyone with the last name Toadstool was part of the Mushroom Kingdom's Royal Family.
"Uh. Aurora Capitolus is Eighty coins, Miss Toadstool." She said weakly.
Raven handed over the money to the parakoopa.
The Parakoopa lady handed over the passport and the ticket.
" Have a good trip, your Highness." She said politely.
Raven was heading towards the train, which had just arrived, when she heard a loud noise from outside.
She ran to the train and boarded it.
A Koopa guard approached the counter.
" Excuse me ma'am, Have you seen a human girl around here?" he demanded.
The parakoopa lady nodded.
"Of course I did! She was a member of the Mushroom Kingdom's royal family. She just boarded the train." she told him excitedly.
He looked a bit noises from outside, however, made him swear. The train was beginning to pull out.
"King Bowser is going to kill me."
Raven was curled up in her window seat. She did not really like methods of transportation other then her wings, to be perfectly honest, but this would have to do for now.
A tap on her shoulder caused her to look up. A Koopa stewardess was looking down at her kindly.
"Excuse me , Ma'am. We're serving dinner now. If you would like something, you should come to the dining car."
Raven nodded. A few moments later, she was coming back with a plastic bowl of Mac and cheese, along with a glass of cola with rum. She was still in a lot of pain so she had asked them if they had anything for the pain. This was their solution, to give her alcohol.
When she had protested, they informed her that the drinking laws in Darkland were quite lax and it was perfectly fine.
Taking her seat again, she pulled out the tray that was on the back of the chair in front of her and placed her food on it. This was going to be a long trip.
Looking around, Raven saw several families together chattering happily. It made her miss her own family. Peach and Daisy were not the best family, but they were still her sisters. They had been the only ones there for her after their parents had vanished.
She pulled out her phone and began dialing a number.
Ring
Ring
"Hello?" came a familiar voice over the line.
Raven swallowed hard and spoke.
"Peach, its me, Raven." She said softly. ''Im on a train heading home."
There was a relieved sigh on the other end.
"I'll meet you there with Luigi and Mario. Is it coming in at seven?"
" Yeah..I'll see you then." she hung up and dug into her food. It would be good to be home again.
