Ch 7 We are the ones who will never be broken

Lina
Lina twirled as she explored the castle. She was following a pretty Parakoopa who had dyed her wings a bright blue.

"Pretty!" She giggled. "Pretty lady, waiiit!"

The parakoopa, who was a household guard, glanced back. She had an eyepatch over one eye, a souvenir of her fighting days in the Glitz Pitz.

"Little one, your family is probably very worried about you." Her voice was gruff.

Lina frowned. She didn't want them to worry.
"Okay." And with that, she toddled back the way she came. Her arms were wrapped tightly around her star plushie. She wanted to find the one who looked like her g'pa.
"Kypruuuus?" She called out. "Where are you?"

She was picked up from behind rather suddenly. Letting out a whine, she began to squirm in discomfort.

"Hi Lina!" Lemmy squeaked out. Lina turned to see the rainbow haired Koopa. He put her down. " I'm Lemmy!"

Lina nodded uncertainly, hugging her plushie tighter.
"Whatcha want?"
"Watch, watch!" He waved his wand carefully. With a poof of color, a ball appeared under him. Balancing on one hand, he began to do acrobatic tricks, rolling around on the ball happily.

Lina clapped, keeping a tight grip on her plush.

Lemmy bowed cutely.

"For my next trick, I need a volunteer!"

Lina put one hand up.

"Me! Me me me!" She cried out.

With a poof, she found herself balanced carefully on Lemmys back.

"Hold on tight Lina!" He instructed. Lina held on with her legs and one arm, keeping a grip on her plushie. She let out a squeal as they began to move forward.

"We're going to go find Thalia, okay?"

"Okay!" Lina responded as they rolled back towards the war room. As they entered, the ball poofed into nothingness. Lemmy caught her easily and set her down.

"Miss Thalia! I found her!"

Lina wasn't even looking at Thalia. Her eyes were on Kyprus.

"Kyprus! Pick me up please!" The toddler reached towards him with one hand. The crystal denizen chuckled as he picked up the squirmy toddler.

"Were you looking for me, Lina?"

She nodded.
"I found a pretty lady! And then I made a new friend!" She gestured to Lemmy.

Kyprus placed the toddler into his lap.

"Thalia. Morton. Tell us what you found in the labs." Tyrion commanded.

Thalia stood up.

"He killed several people and strung them up."

''One of them was Charlotte." Morton Jr. interrupted.

At that, the Koopalings visibly flinched.

"When you say Charlotte-" Wendy began.

"Our ex nanny." Morton finished. "She was very VERY maimed."

Wendy began to sob uncontrollably. Roy pulled his sister into a tight hug.

"I TOLD YOU!" She wailed. "I TOLD YOU TRUSTING HIM WAS A BAD IDEA!"

Morton placed an enormous hand on his sister's shoulder, attempting to comfort her.

"And the inner chamber?" Syrio persisted.

"I had to go in alone." Thalia frowned.

"Why?" One of the Hyrulians looked genuinely curious.

"I think he expected Raven to come there. There was a very realistic body that looked like .. the little princeling. Morton set the place on fire, though we saved most of the documentation."

The door opened as Raven entered, followed by Bowser.

"We buried Charlotte." Raven's voice was cracking. It broke her heart to see the Koopalings in such pain. "Did Thalia tell you already?"

The Koopalings nodded.

Raven's cellphone rang. As she glanced down, her heart leaped into her throat.

"Junior?" She managed as she answered the phone.

"..Hey mama.''

Immediately, the room went quiet. She pressed a button and put him on speakerphone.

"I put you on speaker. We're in the War Room right now."

"Hello everyone." Junior sounded exhausted. "Dad, I came to a fork. One sign has a crown, the other a skull. Which way do I go?"

Bowser screwed up his eyes, trying to remember.

"The crown leads to the outside. It means you passed. That was the way I went. The sword is down the path with the skull." He faltered. "I won't tell you which path to take. It's your choice."

"Mom?"
"Yes, Son?" Raven was trying hard not to cry.

"I'll see you soon. I love you and I'm sorry I made you worry. I've gotta go. I gotta sword to get."

And with that, the line went dead.

Raven turned and pressed her face into Bowser's side, refusing to let her troops see her cry.

The Escaped One

Keep going.
You have to keep going.
As the sage tore across the desert on Epona, she had to stop herself from crying.
They are lost.
As she reached the Tri-Border, she gazed around the desert. If she went east, she'd end up in Sarasaland. But if she went west, she'd end up in Darkland.
Gently petting Epona's mane, she turned her towards the west.
Then they galloped towards Darkland. Bowser had to know what he was up against. Else, he was doomed.
Because his kingdom was next.

As night fell, the towering castle of Dragonstone rose above them. Without warning, she and Epona were thrown backwards. There was a shimmer in the air.

"A barrier."
Epona got to her feet and whinnied unhappily.
"LET ME IN!" She yelled through the barrier. "LET ME IN. IM FROM HYRULE!"

It seemed like almost an eternity before a Magikoopa flew to the barrier from the inside.
"State your name!" He demanded.
"Yours first."
"Kamek. Bowser's right hand Magikoopa. Now who are you?"

In response, she let her hood drop.
"I am one of the Seven Sages. Possibly the only one left. YOU WILL LET ME IN NOW. I NEED TO WARN BOWSER BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!"

"You're-"

"I KNOW WHO I AM. NOW LET ME IN!"

Kamek waved his wand, allowing a sizable hole to appear in the barrier.

"Quickly."

The Sage led Epona through the hole quickly.
"We took the desert route." She murmured. "Only way to ensure we were not followed."

As the Sage was brought into the common area of the castle, the Gerudo leaped to their feet immediately and converged on the Sage.
"Sisters! Sisters! One at a time." The Sage sounded exhausted.
"NABOORU. NABOORU! WE THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!" One of the Gerudo was almost hysterical with relief.
As Syrio entered the room, he let out a sigh of relief.

"Nabooru. At last. What is the situation like in Hyrule right now?" His voice was tinged with concern.

Nabooru collapsed into a chair. One of her sisters rushed to bring her water.

Once she had gulped down some water, Nabooru spoke.

"They're being tortured. Link, Zelda, Ganondorf. They're going to kill them if they don't use the Triforce." She gulped down the rest of the water quickly. "They're going to die. Zelda won't willingly use the Triforce of Wisdom. Ganondorf would rather die than surrender. And Link.." She looked away. "Link was hurt rather-"

"HEY!" A tiny light flew out of Nabooru's pouch. "HEY! We need to rescue Link!"

"Navi-" Nabooru sounded exhausted.

"WE NEED. TO SAVE. LINK" She repeated. "Please."
Navi let an undignified squeak as she was forced back into the pouch.

"Sorry Navi. That was Navi, Link's Fairy. She's a bit distraught as you can probably tell." Nabooru rubbed her shoulder .
"King Koopa." She now addressed the king. "I'm coming to you as one of your allies to warn you. They're coming here next. Then the Delfino Isles. And then Eagleland."

Poo stood up.

"We cannot allow them to reach Eagleland. There are far too many people who would be willing to join them. We've made a lot of enemies on our journey."

"To be fair, it's only Pokey at this point." Tracey pointed out. "But you've told me he's quite dangerous."

"True. We've heard he gathered the remaining Starmen that we couldn't destroy. He's planning something." Ness interjected.

Bowser held up his hand for silence.
"Kamek. How far can we stretch this barrier if all of the Magikoopas in Darkland use their magicks?"

Kamek consulted a chart.

"It's just me keeping the barrier going right now. There are five hundred magikoopas in Darkland. If we spread out, we should be able to-"

A loud rumbling noise cut them off. The room's lights began to flicker.

Kyprus looked like he was going to be sick.
"They're here."

A goomba rushed in.

"King Bowser! They're here! There's airships EVERYWHERE."

Bowser glanced to his fiancée.

"Alright, Commander. Go ahead."

Raven sprang to her feet. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying.

"Alright. Those Crystal Bastards are here." She growled. "We are NOT going to let them fuck us over like they did Sarasaland! THIS IS DARKLAND. WE ARE FIRE. WE ARE DEATH. NOW LETS GO FUCK UP THEIR SHIT."

There was a pause.

"Did you just quote Smaug?" Syrio asked amusedly.

"Shut up. Ludwig. I need you to take Amara somewhere safe in the castle. If we should fall, I need her somewhere safe."

Ludwig left the room quickly.

"We don't know how to kill them though!" Wendy piped up.

"Koopa Fire." Kyprus spoke up. ''Their weakness is Koopa fire. As it happens, we've eight Koopas and one hybrid right here."

Raven flinched.

" Let's just get this over with."
