Chapter 34
Sasuke carried Hiruzen up the stairs and almost choked on the little rain cloud of depression that had clogged the room. Naruto had the most enduring pouty face on ever. Sasuke walked into the room, humored, watching as those glaring eyes settled on him.
"Where did you go without me?!" Naruto demanded in a very mock sad voice.
"I took Kisame and Itachi to the airport. Their flight was then delayed, so we went and had breakfast and afterwards Hiruzen and I picked up some donuts for you. You're welcome." Sasuke said setting a box down.
"So they didn't even say good bye? Assholes. And I don't want your donuts." Naruto said brooding even more.
"You were completely knocked out and I left a note on the refrigerator which I'm guessing you didn't notice the bright Orange post it note all by itself on this massive refrigerator."
Naruto shook his head and rolled his eyes.
"I don't have the patience for you to act like a child throwing a tantrum Naruto. If you want me on board with you getting pregnant this will not be the way to go about it." Sasuke forewarned and took Hiruzen the rest of the way upstairs.
Naruto dropped his jaw and looked around confused. He was ditched and Sasuke expected him not to be upset. Naruto got up and followed him upstairs and stood in the doorway watching Sasuke put Hiruzen in actual clothes.
"I woke up to an empty house. I kind of felt left out. That's not ok. So excuse me if it pisses me off a bit." Naruto snapped.
"Sorry for letting you sleep. Next time I will be sure to wake you up. Ok?" Sasuke said as calmly as possible.
"Whatever." Naruto basically spat out moody as can be and walked off.
Sasuke shot a glare at the retreating blonde and shook his head as Hiruzen looked wide eyed between the two men. Sasuke rubbed his face and set his son down closing the baby gate behind him so Hiruzen could play. Sasuke went into the master bedroom and changed into some athletic shorts and a t-shirt and put some running shoes on. He walked downstairs an placed the house key in his pocket zipping the pocket up and putting his wallet in the other pocket to take with him. Just in case.
"Can you watch Hiruzen while I go for a run?" Sasuke asked calmly.
"Sure." Naruto said uncaring and Sasuke walked out the door and started his run.
Naruto eyes the donut box and got up. He opened the box and eyed the donuts picking out one and eating it in about three bites before picking it up and walking over to the fridge eyeing the note seeing the full explanation on the refrigerator. He set the box of donuts down on the couch and went upstairs grabbing Hiruzen and bringing the baby downstairs to help devour the donuts.
Sasuke was running ran down to the pier and lapped it before running down in the sand alongside the water before going up the hill and circling around and running up the residential areas. Sasuke was about to learn a very valuable lesson about going on a run around the weekends. Sasuke ran past all the shops, running in place at lights and making it almost all the way to the corner he turned down on to start going back home.
That when Sasuke learned that lesson. Sasuke liked to buy things. It was almost a way of life for him. He also liked to make people happy which Naruto was currently, not. Sasuke was looking at something that could possibly make Naruto very happy or extremely happy, but would come at a very, very heavy price. He stood breathing with his hands on his hips staring that certain thing that would make Naruto happy down. He began weighing the options and the pros we're currently outweighing the cons. Sasuke walked forward into a normally empty field to at least see how this would turn out for him. He looked at his options. And felt very overwhelmed. What if he picked the wrong one? This wasn't something they had actually talked out, but, Naruto wanted one...
Sasuke picked one up and held it looking it over checking for a defect of any kind before setting it down. And wiping his hands off on his shirt.
Sasuke Uchiha was not a puppy person and he was standing in a field full of puppies and dogs at an adoption event hosted by the pet store on the corner.
Sasuke grimaced and almost cried thinking of the disasters this decision would lead too.
Sasuke crossed his arms and saw a golden retriever puppy prancing around and annoying an all black puppy and Sasuke could help but sympathize with that dog. It's exactly how he feels when Naruto decides to have an in depth conversion about a movie, while said movie is in.
Sasuke began thinking of everything this puppy would get into... And a little voice in the back of his head was saying "but, it gives you a reason to buy new ones." And the voice of reasoning was convincing.
Sasuke approached the black puppy that was laying down calmly and brushed the golden retriever puppy back to pick the little guy up. Sasuke carried him over to one of the girls to find out about the dog when he heard growling and felt a sudden nip at his ankles.
"Sorry sir, they seem to be a package deal..." A girl said looking down at the golden puppy who was now sitting and whining.
Sasuke looked down at the puppy and the one he was holding.
"I only need one "I'm sorry, here's something I know you want so please forgive me" present." Sasuke said blandly.
"You're buying the dog as a gift..." The girl said warily and unimpressed.
"For my fiancé." Sasuke said glancing down at the dog.
"Look we don't want the dog returned. Are you sure this is a good idea." She said eyeing him skeptically.
"The dog will be fine and undoubtably have more expensive things than you within the week." Sasuke said annoyed.
She crossed her arms and eyes the blonde puppy." You can't have him unless you adopt his best friend. They require co-adoption."
Sasuke was willing to bet that was complete bullshit and another sharp nip to the ankles had him grabbing the other puppy by the back of the neck.
"You were definitely meant to be Naruto's." He said glaring at the puppy who tried to nip his nose.
Sasuke handed the pair to the girl. The black dog would be his. And the blonde dog was Naruto's. He himself would rather own a cat if he had to choose. But he'd settle for the dog. They made better running companions.
He paid for the dogs, collars, leashes, shots and everything else that came with these two and the girl was nice enough to give them each a teething toy. "For free."
Sasuke set them down and held the purple and blue leashes attached to their harnesses and corralled them in the general direction of home since they were both hell bent on going in every direction at once.
"Why? Why did I do this to myself?" Sasuke said looking up as if an answer would appear out of nowhere.
Sasuke made it to the house with tangled leashes and picked up the puppies and thanked the t.v. For being on. Surprises are wonderful.
"Naruto. Are you still mad at me?"
"Yes." Was the not so harsh reply.
Sasuke unclipped the blonde fur ball and let him lose and he took off into the room.
Naruto saw a dart of blonde and sat up in record time sending popcorn to the floor. The donuts were done for.
"Is that a puppy?!" Naruto squealed with excitement.
Sasuke heard Hiruzen begin to make all sorts of delightful noises I dictating his child was being licked.
Sasuke walked the rest of the way into the room holding his puppy before setting him down with the other one seeing Naruto and Hiruzen play and interact with the puppies.
"I got to say, this is a pleasant surprise."
Sasuke washed his hands and looked over at the four overly hyped up being in his house, and regretted not getting a cat. He was outnumbered in energy.
Sasuke walked upstairs and kicked his running shoes and socks off and threw his t-shirt to the ground, closed the curtains to the balcony and laid down on the bed and fell asleep.
Naruto sat downstairs looking at the two puppies. He was absolutely going to name them. Sasuke would give them a boring name.
He saw the golden retriever biting the black puppies ear and just seemed to brush the other guy off and not attack him. It almost seemed as if he was bored of the other puppies antics. The black puppy finally got up and tackled the other one and laid down on his face letting the blonde puppy struggle and whine until he wiggled free and then went for Naruto's hands which were a more interactive target.
Eventually the blonde puppy crashed and the black puppy was more than content to come and cuddle.
"Nox and Lumos." Naruto said in his every so witty way as if he were super original and no one else has ever named their pets after spells in Harry Potter.
Naruto cleaned up the room and waited for all three of the babies to wake up since Hiruzen joined them in napping although on the couch. Naruto did a little researched and realized Sasuke had brought home an all black German Shepard alongside a golden retriever. The puppies began waking up and stretching and Naruto grabbed Hiruzen and coaxed all of them upstairs. Naruto snuck in the room and set all three babies on the bed and Nox, the black puppy sat back and watched and Lumos, went and licked Sasuke in the face.
"Naruto. Why the hell is this dog on the bed." Sasuke bit out and pushed the dog off to the side and sat up even more exhausted than before.
"We need to buy stuff for them. Toys, food, beds and all the other necessities." Naruto said
"And a cage because they will not get to reign over the house while we are out." Sasuke said enforcing his words with a glare.
"Fine." Naruto agreed.
"K, good bye." Sasuke said waving Naruto off who crunched his face up in confusion.
"What?"
"Go buy their stuff." Sasuke said yawning and laying back down.
Naruto made it out of the room before hearing, "Dammit! I should've gotten a friggin cat instead. Stop biting me!" Sasuke said before tossing the blonde puppy on the floor.
Naruto noticed Nox was still sitting quietly.
"Can we have a kitten?" Naruto asked cautiously while holding the baby.
Sasuke waved him off... And that's how Naruto ended up bring home a female calico kitten. Much to Sasuke's annoyance. Not Naruto's fault one of his friends cats was looking for a home for a few kittens. Just good timing.
Nox seemed happy enough lay near Sasuke and Lumos found new adventure in "How can I piss the kitty off this time" which had no name because Sasuke hadn't named her.
Naruto looked around the now, very filled with fur baby house and realized... That bastard has basically let him have pets to fill the void of wanting a baby... Smart bastard. And it will work... For now.
Sasuke made groaning noises at work and Naruto walked into the bastards office.
"What's wrong?"
"I don't want to be here."
"I'm sorry but you do need to make appearances at work. Anything else?"
"Yes, my mother keeps sending me emails filled with wedding details. Call her and ask them to be redirected to you." Sasuke asked with pleading eyes.
"Fine. Any requests ahead of time?" Naruto asked fully ready and excited to plan their wedding.
"Nothing gaudy. Elegant and intimate. I'd like a clean wedding please." Sasuke said and Naruto nodded his head.
At least Sasuke wasn't too picky with their wedding.
