There's some Kagome/Kouga in this one.
Hey, QUESTION! You remember that thing I asked about a ch. or two ago? The one where Kaname was reborn into the Inuyasha vers again, but as someone else sibling? Yeah? Ok, so, would that count as a crossover, thus putting it with my other ones, or count as part of this story? should I just post it on here apart from Both of the "Because" series?
I dunno. just...food for thought I guess...

Because...Uhm, Imagine that theres something witty here...
Kaname would admit to laughing silently when the Lord's in Sesshomaru's castle tried to be civil towards her person.
They look like they had devoured something sour. She mused, lips quirking up at their strained faces. After she had been introduced earlier to his court, Sesshomaru had explained that he would not tolerate any type of slight towards his mate or ward (daughter) Rin, and had shown his displeasure when one of the ladies had not so subtly badmouthed Kaname's looks.
Currently Sesshomaru was showing her the castle, not trusting his subjects with her well being just yet. He had sent Jaken with Rin to the girls own chamber's, ordering him to burn anyone who dares to go into the room without the lords explicit permission.
"And what is this room for?" Kaname questioned as they entered a giant room. It was big enough to fit in quite a few football fields, and tall enough to house something bigger then an office building. In the middle of it was a grand bed, which almost looked like a dog bed. Is this room for when they want to be in their true form? She wondered.
"...This is the birthing chamber." He stated, "There are spell's, wards, and other such things inscribed around the chamber. It is so nothing can break in and harm the mother to be from enemy's, but it is only for the royal family." he moved towards one of the wall's, flaring his youkai and revealing the hidden scripted writing that covered every inch of the wall's, ceiling, and floor.
Kaname blinked, not recognizing the language. Is this demonic script? Do demons have their own language? She mused as she peered at it. "This is quite the protection."
"Hn." He hummed, eye's trailing along the writing and seeming to check it to make sure it worked. "Giving birth leaves females in a vulnerable state." was his explanation.
"That it does." She mumbled. "...I'm guessing that there are more of these inside of the room I will be staying in then?"
"Yes." he then took his hand off the wall, making the writing's disappear, before leading her out of the room. "You shall be staying with me, as it is one of the three room's that has them. Rin has been given the Heir's room, while my chamber also has them."
She smiled coyly. "Oho? Sharing a room my lord? Are you sure about that?"
Sesshomaru looked at her, furrowing his brows at her questioning his actions.
She giggled, "My Sesshomaru, surely you remember how it is I favor to sleep when in a bed?" she questioned. "I remember you having to get me a sleeping kimono because of it." She hinted.
Sesshomaru blankly stared at her, before the memory of Kaname choosing to sleep in the nude came rushing to the front of his mind.
He stopped walking, and fully turned towards her, pupils blown wide and hand clenching.
Kaname's smile widened into a suggestive smirk. "And you tell me not to tempt you, when it seems you are eager to have me naked in your bed Sesshomaru~" She purred.
Sesshomaru briefly wondered if he could get away with skipping the last step's to courting and go straight to mating. The vixen was starting to get to him, and seeing as how she had stated on only having him as her husband, he was fairly certain that courting wasn't necessary as it was only so potential mates could see if they truly wanted the other.
And he had known her for three years...
Sadly he was raised better then that.
"...Kaname." He sighed, closing his eye's and trying to get his control back.
"Sorry, but you should have remembered." She chuckled as they started to walk again. "And we still need to tell mother and Grandfather."
Sesshomaru was in his father's study, searching through his scrolls and books to find any hint on how to bind Kaname's power for their future pup's. He had dropped the miko off with her new servants, giving her permission to punish any who would disrespect her in anyway she desired.
So far he had not found anything of the sort, but he had found mentions of the miko his father had loved, and why he had helped the female.
Turned out, his father had met a demon who could see the future and had told his father that he would find his fated mate soon. The journal then described how his father had the overwhelming urge to find out where the smell of human blood was coming from, despite how out of character it was for him to do so when he was on his way to give a report to his own lord father. The moment he had set eye's on the girl something inside of him had shifted, it was subtle enough that the general didn't notice, thus he had come back and helped the girl for some time until he figured out that it was a mating pull doing it.
He paused in his reading, this was eerily similar to how he met Kaname. Thinking back on it, he found it strange on how he was motivated to see what had fallen out of the sky, even stranger that he had decided to take a rest in the tree he was lounging in, he was a daiyoukai, he didn't tired and needed no rest.
"...How vexing." he mumbled as he figured out that it was the mating pull that had him following the Miko. I should have suspected something wrong when I decided to linger around a human village. He thought. "And yet, I admit that the ending result was satisfying." the image of a smiling Kaname came to mind, making his lips twitch in fondness. "Yes, very satisfying indeed."
He went back to reading for a few more hours, mind absorbing the battle tactics his father made, the theory's, the last mention of the other miko and how his father settled to marry his best friend- Inu-kimi- and his responsibility.
And how jarring it was to learn that his mother had been a front line fighter alongside his father.
Seeing as he now knew his mother had not been a court lady, he felt confident that she would approve of his mate.
He froze at the thought of his mother.
"Kaname would most likely like to meet her." he sighed, dreading the meeting between the women. His mother would love either love Kaname, because she herself could fight, or despise her because she was a mortal...who was the descendant of his father's first lover...
Not to mention the scandal she had to deal with later once people found out the dog general took on a mortal concubine.
He hoped his mother wouldn't pick a fight with Kaname (He had a difficult time in trying to figure out who would win between the two females).
He was starting to get a migraine from what he imagined, deciding to muse on it later, and opened a scroll from the large pile (despite the respect and how capable he was in battle, Sesshomaru and his mother were the only ones who knew how messy the dog general actually was. It irritated him to no end.) and briefly scanned it to see if it was what he needed. His eye's backtracked when the mention of using Tetsusaiga to control Inuyasha's demonic blood came up. This had reminded him that he would have to go to Totosai for a blade for his own pup's, which also brought up the thought if he may need to make two blades for each pup. One for his demonic blood, and another to control Kaname's reiki if they inherit it so it didn't attack it's own host.
He certainly hoped his pup's didn't gain her holy powers, despite how useful it would be.
It may need to be made soon. He thought as he remembered the lust that stirred in Kaname when she mentioned having pup's to Kagome. His grip tightened on the scroll, taking a deep breath to gather himself, Very soon indeed.
"MY LORD!"
He closed his eye's, hearing the frantic footsteps of a servant rushing towards the office. We are either under attack by a fool, or someone has already tried to harm Kaname despite my warning's.
"MY LORD WE HAVE A PROBLEM INVOLVING YOUR INTENDED MATE!"
He had really hoped it was the first.
Quickly tossing the scroll aside, Sesshomaru threw the door's opened- ignored the squawk of the lizard demon- and made his way towards where he could sense an amused Kaname.
Which was in the royal gardens.
Where only the royal family and their mates could enter.
So, not only has someone proved a threat towards Kaname, they have also foolishly thought themselves my equal If they went into the gardens without permission. He thought in irritation.
"AAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAAA~!"
Kouga had just ran into Kaname's barrier.
"Thats gotta hurt." Shippo said with a wince, his tail twitching at the smoke coming off of the wolf demon.
"AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA!" Inuyasha was now on the floor, punching it with his fist as tears ran down his cheeks. "OH-! DID YA SEE HIS STUPID FUCKIN' FACE?!"
"I'm surprised he's not dead." Sango commented, tilting her head to the side in confusion. "Didn't the villagers say that this disintegrates demon's on contact?"
"Must be the jewel shards." Miroku stated dryly.
Kagome furrowed her brows, "Wha- but they're in his legs, so how does that-?"
"When in doubt, blame the shards." the monk shrugged. "Sssshhhh- shh-sh...just accept it Kagome." he hushed when she opened her mouth to speak. "It was the jewels."
"But-"
"Having fun Inuyasha?"
He changed the subject. She thought with a sigh before going towards the wolves. She stepped out from the barrier and observed the twitching form of her crush, even when she's not here Kaname-nee is somehow hurting my potential boyfriends.
What was her life even?
Bullshit. That's what.
"Are you ok?" She questioned worriedly, crouching beside him petting his hair.
His answer was groan, and eye's fluttering open and focusing on her face. "Wha...?" he grumbled, "Kagome? What the hell just happened?"
"You ran into my sister barrier." She answered with a wince, helping the wolf sit up. "SIT BOY!" she yelled as Inuyasha was still laughing.
THUD!
"BWUAGH!"
"Your sisters barrier?" He questioned, bewildered and looking in front of him, not seeing anything. "I don't..." He trailed off, only to see the monk stop a few feet away and lift his hand against something, reiki flashed out of his hand and revealed the red barrier for a moment before putting his hand back to his side. "...Oh." He had never run into a barrier that he couldn't just break by running through it.
He grudgingly admired the strength of Kagome's sister.
He also got the feeling that impressing said sister enough so he could start courting Kagome...would be harder then he first thought. Add to the fact that if he didn't impress her at all, he would probably die.
Granted, he would still try. Kouga had not been lying when he declared his intentions to make Kagome his mate, and he really did like her, better then all the other wolf females trying to gain his attention. He was aware that any child they'd have would be hanyou, but he was willing to beat the shit out of anyone who would dare to insult any of his pup's or mate.
"So does that me your sister is here or..?" Kouga trailed off in question. He was well aware that mortals gifted with Reiki could set up a barrier around anything they wanted protected and not have be around to maintain it.
"Ah, no, Onee-sama is not here at the moment." Kagome said, her lips quirking in a wry smile. "We all had just missed her by a week or so."
"Damn." he sighed.
"You seem to have the strange talent of always just missing Lady Kaname." Miroku commented.
"Yeah, you have some really bad luck." Shippo snickered.
"Or really good luck. Considerin' how violent the bitch is." Inuyasha huffed.
Kagome glared at him, making him jerk and give a confused stare back. "SIT!"
THUMP!
"WHY?! WHAT DID I SAY?!"
"As much as I love seeing you use that trick of yours, Kagome, I'm with the piece of shit on this one." Kouga blinked, tilting his head to the side in wonder. "What did he say? Was it because he called her violent?"
"YOU CALL MY ONEE-SAMA A BITCH!" Kagome retorted hotly as she pointed at Inuyasha, brows twitching at the 'I-don't-understand' look being sent her way from the both of canine demons.
"BUT SHE IS ONE?!" Inuyasha exclaimed with bewilder. He then turned to the wolf, "ISN'T SHE?! SHE KEEP'S CALLING HER 'Sister' SO SHE'S FEMALE...?"
"From what I'm told, yeah she is a Bitch." Kouga agreed, only to pale at the scathing look being sent his way. What the hell?
Just as Kagome opened her mouth to say the command again, Sango quickly intervened between them. "Kagome stop." she said calmly, holding up her hand when the miko turned her glare onto her. "No. There's a misunderstanding here is all. Listen, Inuyasha and Kouga have canine blood in them, even if it's demonic it's still canine. And canine have their own terms on certain things, like what their females are label, and what are female dog's known as?" she said, an eyebrow raised when Kagome just stared at her. She huffed, "Bitch. A female dog is known as a Bitch. They're not insulting her, it's just how they label females because of their instincts and blood."
"Insulting?" Inuyasha questioned as he shakily got up. He looked towards an equally bewildered Kouga. "How is that insulting?"
Kagome blinked, "...Bitch in my time is used as an insult. It's a Derogatory word usually used towards women, and recently men as well. And, I guess still an insult in this time for mortals." she sighed, rubbing her temples. "That's going to be a headache to get use to." she mumbled, before a thought struck her. "Is that why you sometimes address me as 'Bitch'?"
"Well, yeah." Inuyasha nodded. Now that he knew it was insulting for humans, he figured that was probably why the court woman got angry at him when he was a pup. His mother had never been called bitch, because she was 'Mother', so he never knew it was a bad thing to call a human female. Huh.
"You're going to need to learn quite a lot Kagome." Kouga mused. He crossed his arms and thought on what his mate-to-be would need to know when it comes to demonic culture. "Well, what do you know already? We can start there and teach you everything else."
Kagome stared blankly at him. "...Nothing."
Kouga squinted at her, she had to be lying, no miko could be that ignorant.
She continued to stare at him.
His brows raised. She wasn't lying.
"...Alright, so, at the very beginning then...That's...hrm..." he mumbled. "Ah well, you'll catch up in no time!" I think.
"Ah...r-right." Kagome agreed, doubting that she would catch up so soon, but figured she would get by enough to not accidentally insult canine youkai...at least. Good thing Higurashi's are hard workers. She mentally thanked her father for making sure Kagome and Kaname had good study habits. "Oh! Uh, do you want to come in...?" she questioned, wondering if the villagers would allow Kouga inside of the village.
"Is that a good idea? Inviting an unknown demon into the village?" Sango questioned worriedly.
"Hmmm...Well...They seem to like me enough...so, maybe they'll make an exception?" Kagome questioned.
Miroku frowned in thought, "Well, I think they already did with Inuyasha, Shippo, and Kirara." He pointed out. "Because they're friends of ours- a son in shippo's case- or more importantly, of you. Because you're Kaname-sama's beloved sister, so they made it so the demons with us could enter."
"So it would be pushin' it if we ask ta let Kouga inside." Inuyasha concluded.
"You would be right." Toma and Touka stated, startling the group at they seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.
"Scared me..." Kagome mumbled, a hand over her heart and trying to stop it from beating so fast.
"Sorry Lady Kagome."
"How the hell are ya' so sneaky?!" Inuyasha demanded, not having heard them coming over. Which was impressive, as he was a dog demon if even only half. He had superb hearing, even by demon standards.
"Her Ladyship taught us. And His Lordship also helped us hone it."
"...You're sister is scarily good at teaching." Sango commented blankly.
"I'm actually impressed that they survived her training." Kagome shrugged, wondering if she could get the same training next time she saw her sister.
"..." Kouga listened as they discussed Kaname, his mind starting to form an image of a brutal looking female. That made him wonder how someone like that could be related to Kagome.
And then Inuyasha said something offensive, making Kagome ticked and sit him quite a few times.
Ah...That's probably how. He mused, watching the satisfied smirk on her face.
God she was beautiful even when being sadistic.
Sesshomaru had arrived to the scene of Kaname in the garden with Rin and Jaken, sitting atop of a royal guard, a tranquil soft smile gracing her lovely feature's...
And shoving her finger's into the guards eye, slowly- painfully- dragging it out as the demon wailed in pain.
The spurting blood that came out and landed on her cheekbones did nothing but enhance her looks.
Well, in his opinion anyway.
He calmly walked over, seeing the rest of the guard fidgeting right outside of the perimeter of the garden, and tried to figure out what the demon had done to deserve this.
"Jaken." He barked, the unspoken order to explained what happened in the air.
"A-Ah! My Lord!" Jaken greeted, bowing and quickly got up to explain. "Lady Kaname and Rin had wanted to come out into the garden for some relaxation. It was all fine and dandy until this foolish guard had come into the garden- without permission- and started to accuse Kaname-sama of-" he paused, not wanting to say the words as he might be slain for saying them.
Sesshomaru narrowed his eye's, "Accused her or what, Jaken."
"Of...being nothing but a whore you had picked up to pass the time, and that she and Rin should be taught their place for daring to come into the royal gardens. He then spat at Rin and proceeded towards Lady Kaname, intending to do what I am not sure, for she quickly pinned him down with some sutras..." he finished, cringing at the killing intent rising from his lord.
"Papa?" Rin called, coming over to where the two demons were at.
"Yes Rin?"
"Whats a 'Whore'?" She questioned, she knew it was an insult from her mother's face, but she didn't know exactly what it was.
The only sound in the area was of the demons screaming and Kaname's delightful giggles.
"Pay it no mind Rin." he said instead.
She frowned, before nodding with a smile. If her papa didn't deem it necessary for her to know, then she would respect that.
"And where is..." he trailed off, he had already forgotten the mortals name. "Amanda, was it? The annoying mortal leech, where is it at."
Jaken's beak twitch in amusement at what his lord called the girl, "She had said something about finding somewhere to bathe." he snorted.
Sesshomaru quirked a brow at this, his eye's gleaming in amusement. "She shall be searching for some time then." because demons had no use for bathing, they didn't sweat, and it was usually a luxury item that noble youkai had. Not to mention the only bathing chambers in the palace were in the royal family wing and the guard quarters. The servants used the streams nearby if they really needed it.
He glanced over at the near silent area Kaname was in. The guard was moaning in pain, whimpering on occasion, as she seemed to be debating something. "Kaname."
She looked up at him, smiled, and stood from where she sat. "Hello my Sesshomaru. I hope you do not mind me disciplining your guard. But he had said something that was not fit for Rin's ears."
"Hn. And what has you in such deep thoughts?"
"Oh, I was pondering the pro's and con's on if he should live with his injury's, or if I should torture him to death for his...actions." she said, eye's gleaming in anticipation. "Either way, the problem should be resolved."
"An example." He concluded with a nod. "Leave him alive, he shall be visual example on what happens when my orders are disobeyed. It shall also serve as a reminder that you are not a helpless mortal." He commanded, gesturing for a few guards to come in.
"My Lord?" One questioned, kneeling in front of Sesshomaru and Kaname.
"Take this worthless trash to the healers, but do not let them row anything back nor numb the pain. He shall be kept as is for his punishment." he told them, he then turned to Jaken. "Tell the servants to gather his belongings and move them to the servants quarters. He is no longer fit to be a guard."
"Yes My Lord!" Jaken chirped. He glared at the guards, "Well? What are you waiting for?!"
"A-Ah yes!" They said, scrambling to do as they were told. They shot wary looks towards Kaname, shuddering at the smile she sent their way.
Once they were gone Sesshomaru turned to his future mate and pup. "Do as you will."
Rin quickly latched onto his sleeve, preventing the lord from leaving them. "Papa, will you stay with mama and Rin? There are some flowers Rin thinks would suit you in the garden!"
"you have been inside for quite some time, My Sesshomaru. Maybe some air would do you some good." Kaname suggested. "We could have a servant bring us some refreshments and snacks if you'd like."
He thought on this, looking from her to Rin, and admitted he was not looking forward to being inside. Especially since it would give some of the elder demons a chance to try and 'persuade' him on rethinking his mating intentions towards Kaname. And seeing as he had no intentions of leaving until the winter months were over, he had plenty of time to search his father's scrolls and books.
"Hn." he grunted, heading towards one of his mother's prized sakura trees to sit under.
Rin smiled brightly, heading towards a bush of colorful flowers and started to pick some of them for crowns.
Kaname joined Sesshomaru under the tree, content to watch Rin weave flowers crowns and marvel at some insects. "My Sesshomaru?"
He looked towards her.
"When we are mated, I would like to have the ceremony twice." At his raised brow she shrugged. "My mother, Grandfather, and brother may not be able to come to this side. I do not want to deprive them of seeing me wed."
"I see." he mused, "We shall have to think of a way to satisfy that then." Because Emiko seemed to be a good person as did the rest of the Higurashi's. Kaname adored her family, and he didn't want her to be unhappy when they mated, so Sesshomaru tried to think of a way for them to be there. "I shall think on this another day, for now we will focus on your reiki."
And that was good enough for her.
