Chapter Twenty

I sighed as we got off the airplane and stepped foot onto the damp Washington ground. I couldn't believe our honeymoon was over. One month went by so fast. I'm probably going to remember every single moment of that month for the rest of my life, thanks to Edward.

I smiled at the thought of Edward. His touch, his kisses, his gentle nature. He sure made this honeymoon one to remember.

We spent our days exploring France, swimming in the waters by the house, and of course making love. We even explored some of our secret fantasies about one another, stuff that I really hope none of the others find out about.

If I could, I would relive this whole entire month over and over again with Edward. Sure, I missed the others, but I just needed something like this with Edward.

"I already miss it," I whispered to Edward as he came up from behind me.

"I do too, love. It was amazing," He said softly, making kisses up my shoulder blade. "Probably the most memorable month of my life."

"Same," I agreed as he wrapped his arms around my tiny frame. We were currently looking around the airport to see any sign of a Cullen. Someone was suppose to come pick us up from the airport.

"Mom!" I heard someone yell. "Dad! Over here!"

I snapped around to see a smiling Renesmee with Jacob by her side. She was waving eagerly at us with one hand and the other was holding Jacob's hand.

"There she is," I said to Edward, motioning to Renesmee. We both smiled at each other as we began to make our way towards our daughter.

Renesmee let go of Jacob's hand and came rushing towards us at full force. Her arms latched around my neck and Edward's as she dove for us. We all laughed as everyone passed by us in the airport, wondering what three 'teenagers' were hugging about.

"I missed you two so much," Renesmee said as she held tight to us.

"Me too baby," I replied with a chuckle as I hugged her back. "How was it like without us around?"

"Well you two did miss a lot, but we'll explain once we get back to the house. We do have news," Renesmee told me as she let go. My daughter looked absolutely glowing as she looked at the two of us. I could tell she was excited to say something.

"You two didn't...you know..." Edward muttered to our daughter, slightly glaring at Jacob. "Because if you did, I'm not promising I won't hold back."

"Oh no, don't worry Dad. We're saving that for marriage, or we plan to, but none the less, that's not what I was thinking about," Renesmee said, playfully nudging Edward in the side. "Now come on, the others can't wait to see you guys."

"Of course. Let's go," I agreed as we all headed towards the black BMW Carlisle probably let Renesmee borrow.

Thinking of cars, we should probably buy some new ones soon. I know when we were gone Alice did phone me to tell me she bought this new yellow porsche and Jasper got a motorcycle. When Edward heard this he was giddy like a school boy because he found this as an opportunity to go car shopping for me. Of course this amused me to no end, but I think I might let him help me pick one out because he's so excited to get me one. I was thinking maybe something along the lines of a ferrari, a nice red ferrari. I haven't had a car in ages so this should be interesting if I get one.

On the way home Renesmee did ask a lot of questions about France, but for the most part it was a lot of small talk. I don't know what was going on, but something tells me she was hiding something. Edward didn't even seem to know what it was. I would share glances with him and he seemed kind of confused.

The hour car ride felt ended up feeling shorter than I thought and soon enough we were standing right in front of the Cullen home.

The moment I got out of the car I was impacted by a small little body. I looked to see Alice was over me with the biggest grin on her face.

"Bella! You're home! I missed you!" She squealed, hugging me tightly.

"I can see that." I chuckled as Alice then helped me up. I brushed some of the dust off from my jeans when all of a sudden a pair of big arms scooped me up. I looked up to see it was Emmett wrapping his arms around me.

"What do you want?" I teased with my big brother.

"A hug pip squeak," He replied, hugging me tighter. "Man, I missed you little sis. It was only a month, but it felt longer."

"Aw. I missed you too, Emmett." I chuckled as he squeezed me even tighter. I'm pretty sure if I was a human I would have been as flat as a pancake by now.

"Come on Emmett, share with everyone else," Jasper chided in an amused tone as he came over.

"Fine, here you go Jazzy," Emmett said, picking me up and handing me over to Jasper. I chuckled as my other brother went to give me a hug.

"Hey Bells, long time no see," Jasper said as he placed me back down on my feet.

"It's good to see you too Jazz." I laughed as I watched Alice now tackle Edward with a hug. "You guys are acting like you haven't seen us in years."

"Well we missed you guys," Esme replied as she came over with Carlisle, Rosalie, Emalie, and Seth. "Welcome back, did you have fun?"

"Of course I did." I grinned as I went to go give my mother in law a gentle hug. "Thanks again, the both of you, for letting us use your home."

"It was nothing dear. You and Edward are our family," Carlisle said, coming over to greet me with a hug.

"Thanks again though. It was really beautiful there," I replied as I stood with Edward in front of our parents. I was really starting to think of Carlisle and Esme as my second parents. They've been nothing but kind souls to Jasper, Alice, Renesmee, and I. They've opened up their family and love to us, so how can't I love them for that?

"Aunt Bella! Uncle Eddie!" I heard a voice exclaim. I looked to see Emalie and I gasped a little. Emalie grew a good inch or two and she didn't look like she was four anymore. She looked a bit older now, maybe about five or six.

"Oh my, sweetie. You grew," I said, smiling at my niece as she then latched onto me.

"Yeah! Momma said I grew a good two inches!" Emalie explained to me with a grin. I chuckled as I kissed her cheek. "I can be a grown up like everyone else soon!"

"Let's not hope for that any time soon," Emmett muttered under his breath as I then passed Emalie to Edward.

"Well she'll always been our little princess, no matter what," Rosalie chimed as she came over to greet me with a hug. "I take it that the honeymoon went well?"

"Of course it did." I giggled as I hugged tighter to my newest sister. "It was marvelous. France was such a beautiful country."

"Well tell us all about it, come on. We've got some things to tell you too!" Alice cheered as she came over to my other side that didn't have Rose. "We have some really big news."

"Renesmee did mention that," Edward muttered as Emalie wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Come on, we'll tell you inside," Carlisle said as Esme latched onto his forearm.

"Alright," I said as I shared a glance with Edward.

We all entered the Cullen's living room where we all gathered around the coffee table. Alice and a few of the others did ask a few questions about France during this time, but I just was getting more and more anxious. What happened while we were gone? Is it something bad?

"No offense, but what's going on? What's this news because I'm getting really curious," I asked, looking at my family with worried eyes. "I feel like it's something big."

"It is...Well a few things...Renesmee, maybe you'd like to go first," Carlisle said, motioning to my daughter with his hand.

I frowned in confusion as I turned to look at her. She was smiling as she held tight to Jacob's hand. He smiled at us too, but I could tell he was a bit nervous.

"Mom...Dad...I know this is all so soon...But...I applied for a college with Jake...It was just something we wanted to see and...Well, I got accepted," Renesmee explained to us.

"That's great, sweetheart," I replied, smiling fondly at her. "What college?"

"Well we're um going to college in Pennsylvania. Penn State to be exact," Renesmee whispered, looking down at the floor. There was a small moment of silence between us before I broke it.

"You're moving to Philadelphia?" I asked slowly, looking at her. She nodded softly behind her curls.

"Yeah...I'm leaving this fall...I'm sorry I didn't say anything it's just...I don't know, my gut-"

"Renesmee, stop," Edward told her sternly. She froze and looked up at Edward with a scared expression. "You are over sixty years old. You can make decisions like this if you want to without our consent. In fact, I'm proud of you. My daughter made it into college, damn it how can I not be proud of you Renesmee." He smiled at her.

Renesmee seemed to relax hearing this. She grinned at Edward as she the went to go give him a hug, "By the way, did I mention I'm going to try to get my doctor's degree...and I'm also majoring in music."

This made Edward grin even more as he hugged tighter to Renesmee. "I'm very proud of you, Renesmee."

"Thanks Daddy," She muttered as they then pulled apart. When they finished their hug they turned to me along with everyone else in the family.

I looked at my daughter and let a small smile creep onto my face.

"He's right," I added, looking at her. "I've been momma bear for this long, and your dad's gotten to know you...and you've been ready to leave the nest for years now. It's your life baby, sure I'll miss you, but explore the world. Do what you were meant to do in this world because my daughter was meant to leave her footprint."

"Thank you Momma," Renesmee whispered as she went to go hug me. I smiled as I hugged Renesmee for a few moments and looked towards Jacob.

"And you, you better keep a good eye on my daughter when she's with you in that big old city," I said, pointing my finger warningly at him. "Because if you hurt her in anyway, or someone else does, I will do some damage."

"Don't worry Bella." Jacob chuckled as he came over to me. "I'm not going to do anything that'll harm your daughter. It's my job to protect her, remember? I care a lot about Ness." Renesmee was blushing a bright red as Jacob smiled towards her.

"Yeah I remember...And, welcome to the family," I added softly. He smiled as I then went to pull him into a gentle hug. "Just remember, my daughter is hurt and I will hurt you. So will her father."

"Don't worry. I won't," He vowed as Renesmee came over to his side and laid her head against his shoulder.

"So...What's the other news?" I asked, looking at the rest of my family for answers. Carlisle stood up and looked at us with gentle eyes.

"What if I told you that we happen to be the most powerful vampire coven in the world?" Carlisle said to Edward and I.

"I kind of figured, not trying to sound a bit shallow," I mummer, biting my lip.

"You're not the only one dear," Edward said, kissing my head.

"Well...What if I told you that the other vampires have asked us to take control of the Volturi?"

"Say what again," I whispered, my mouth gaping open. "The Volturi? The Cullen's become Volturi's?"

"Not exactly...We're the American branch," Carlisle explained to me. "Some of the vampire covens, some of the powerful ones, have asked me to lead it with the rest of this family. I said I'll think about it, but I know Stefan, Vladimir, some of the old Volturi guards that offered their surrender, and a few nomads would like to control the European part. They'll still be in Italy, but they're just watching vampire activity on that side of the world...They'd like us to watch over things here, in the Americas."

"So where will our headquarters be, if we say yes?" I asked quietly.

"Alaska. We are having a house built there anyway," Esme added softly.

"So...We're moving to Alaska?" I mused. "Will we ever come back to Forks?"

"We might, but for now since we were looking at places to relocate...But we plan to go," Carlisle said.

"Wait, why didn't you call us?" I asked bluntly. "You could have called. We could have cut the trip short for this."

"We didn't want to disturb your honeymoon," Emmett mentioned, coming forward. "Bells we didn't want to ruin it. Anyway why should you have stopped your honeymoon for this?"

"You wouldn't have ruined it if it was a family emergency," I remarked to my brother.

"Everyone! Look. It's just...We thought about it and now...we've just decided. It was a pretty recent thing and-"

"Mom, calm down. No one's mad," Edward said gently to Esme, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I'm not mad neither is Bella."

"Esme, you and Carlisle are the leaders of this coven and you make decisions that are best for our family. Plus, the other's don't seem against this," I added, smiling gently at her to make her feel more at ease. "We were shocked, that's all."

"Thank you dear," Esme said to me softly as she held my hands in hers for a few moments.

"We do plan to stick with somewhat of the original plan while being leaders," Carlisle explained to us.

"As in...?"

"We're going to enroll in high school there little sis," Jasper filled in for Carlisle, chuckling.

"High school," I said, grabbing Edward's hand. "That should be interesting. Any girls that are looking at you like eye candy, just tell me. I will throw one hell of a cat fight." I sent Edward a wink and he chuckled.

"Don't worry Bella, it'll be fine. There's only one girl who will ever hold my heart," Edward murmured into my ear.

"Awww!" Alice and Rosalie gushed while the guys just snorted in disgust.

"Please, refrain from the mushy gushy crap," Emmett grumbled, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "We've talked about this before."

"Fine." I rolled my eyes at him.

"What's going to happen though when we 'graduate' high school. Wouldn't we have to move again?" Edward questioned.

"We don't know entirely yet, but maybe you'll just stop going," Carlisle said to us.

"This is probably going to be one of the last times we'll go. Maybe not the very very last, but probably the last one in awhile," Emmett added.

"Anyway you never know. Emalie's going to be going to school as well and Seth will be joining us too later on," Rosalie said.

I looked in surprise at Seth, who smiled shyly. "Yeah. I'm finishing my studies here and then I'm heading up to Alaska to join you guys." I nodded with Edward as we looked at our family.

"So are you two okay with this?" Renesmee asked, looking directly at Edward and I.

"We know it was kind of unexpected...but, we wanted to make sure you guys would have a nice honeymoon," Esme said to us.

"No, it's perfectly fine and sweet of you actually," I told them in reassurance.

"It's fine. Wherever our family goes, we go," Edward said, looking towards me. I nodded in agreement as I stand by his side.

"Yeah, wherever you guys go and whatever you decide, we'll stand by your decisions and choices. We're a family."

The others smiled fondly at us as we then began to ask more questions about our futures. Later that night while everyone else did their own thing I sat down on the balcony, looking up at the stars. There were so many of them blazing through the pitch black night. Somedays I would wish that I could be a star, especially after I thought Emmett died. I just wanted to be free.

"Are you okay?" Edward asked me as he came over. "You seem puzzled."

"I kind of am," I muttered, looking down at the ground. "I feel excited yet unhappy at the same time."

"Why?"

"Because of time," I replied softly. "It sucks."

Edward chuckled as he sat down on the nearby porch chair and pulled me onto his lap. "Bella, no matter what happens I'll always love you. You know that, right?"

"I know." I giggled as he kissed my neck. "It's just...I don't know. Renesmee's officially going her own way and we aren't going to be in Forks anymore. I don't know, I'm just thinking all about it."

"Well, be happy. Bella, we've got a long time. Don't worry. I think whatever happens, will happen. Just like how we were reunited. If it wasn't for such a horrible thing, then maybe we wouldn't have seen one another again."

"You're right. To think, we wouldn't be here right now if Irina didn't see Emalie," I mused, trailing off. "Poor Irina. I do kind of feel bad for her. She didn't a deserve a fate like that." I felt Edward's hand rub up and down my back.

"You're right, but...she's happier now. Irina is in a better place. She was never happy, she kind of gave up on her reason to fight at the end. I saw her mind when Caius and the others killed her. She wanted death," Edward confessed to me as he looked up towards the stars. "I didn't really want to tell Kate or Tanya anything because this would just crush them if they found out. They were devastated enough."

"True." I sighed as I rested my head against his chest. "Do you think we'll have a forever, Edward?"

"I'm sure of it Bella. And if we do die...I know I'll love you in my life after that. My love for you, Bella Cullen, will last beyond my lifetime," Edward whispered, kissing my lips gently.

"I love you Edward. Far longer than forever," I responded as he went to kiss my lips.

That night Edward wrapped his arms around my waist and we watched the stars up in the sky. I knew my future was going to hold a lot of things, but as long as Edward and my family are by my side, I'll make it through.

That Fall...

"You have everything?" I asked Renesmee as I brushed a strand of her hair. Currently we were all in front of our home as Renesmee and Jacob packed up their truck. They were heading to Pennsylvania right now. I really can't believe that my baby is all grown. Seems like yesterday Renesmee was running to me in her footy pajamas with a grin on her face as she would shove her copy of Peter Pan into my hands.

"Do you have your tooth brush? Comb? Brush? Pillow? Night light?"

"Mom." Renesmee chuckled as she threw her arms around me. "I'll be fine. I promise. You'll see me in November, anyway you can visit me anytime you'd like."

"I know my angel, it's just this is the first time we're going to be apart in a long time," I said, sighing a bit.

"I'll miss you too, Momma. In the meantime, I love you. It'll be okay," she said, hugging me tight. I could feel some of her tears leak onto my shirt. "I'm a big girl now."

"I know, I've known that for a long time. Make sure to have fun and be safe...Just be safe and I love you," I told her.

"I love you too," she said as she went to kiss my cheek before pulling away. I smiled at her one last time before she turned over to Edward to give him a hug.

"I'll see you soon, Daddy."

"I'll miss you angel. I love you," Edward murmured into her hair.

"Me too Daddy. Love you," Renesmee whispered as she hugged him one last time. She then pulled away and went to say goodbye to everyone else. The most heartbreaking moment has to be when Emalie said goodbye to her. The poor thing didn't want to let go of her cousin as she latched onto her.

I then backed up with Edward and the others as we watched the two climb into a red truck of Jacob's. Renesmee looked towards Edward and I, and smiled one last time before she got into the truck.

I watched as she blew us a kiss and waved outside the window. I stood there with Edward as we watched the car roll out of the Cullen's long drive way until we couldn't see it anymore.

"Are you okay Bells?" Jasper asked me with kind eyes after a few moments of us just staring at the last place we saw Renesmee.

"I just miss her already," I said softly as I leant into Edward's chest and sighed.

"Aw, well baby bell, she'll be back. Don't worry," Emmett reassured me. I smiled at him as I felt Edward's warm arms wrap around me.

"Well that's one goodbye down," I said before turning towards the Cullen's home. "God, I'm going to miss this place."

"I think we all are. Anyway, come on. We need to get packing. Alaska is pretty far away," Esme said sadly as she headed up the porch steps with Carlisle.

"Well it looks like this is the beginning to our forever," I whispered to Edward. He smiled at me as he kissed the top of my head. I then felt the warm little hand of Emalie grab mine as she looked up at me with soft blue eyes and a small smile.

I smiled back as I looked to see my brother, Alice, Jasper, and Rose all smile at me as well.

"Come on, Alaska is a new adventure that awaits us," Alice said as she waved her hand at us.

"Yeah, it is," I agreed as I then took my niece and husbands hands and headed into the Cullen home together.

Forever is a long time, and I know this is only the beginning of our small little piece of forever.
