Rey had made it quite far before Kylo Ren realized she was gone; ten minutes of wild running, and Rey had covered two staircases and seven corridors.
As she headed towards the third and final staircase, she finally felt Ben stir into consciousness. A few moments after, she felt anger. The rage was obviously pointed at her. Secretly, Rey took pleasure in the thought.
What the fuck are you doing?!
Rey nearly tripped over a stair, not expecting his voice to come thundering inside her head. After collecting herself and picking up pace, Rey replied slyly, Making life harder for you, of course.
Don't be stupid. You're making more trouble for yourself.
Maybe, Rey said in a taunting manner … But it will be worth it.
I'll catch you before that.
Rey let out a scoff of disbelief as she turned sharply to the left, sprinting down a corridor. No, you won't.
We'll see.
Rey was about to make another comeback when she realized that, indeed, he was on the verge of catching her— she could hear his footsteps echoing right behind her. He must've taken a shortcut, that bastard.
A quick glance backwards, Rey was relieved that, at the very least, she couldn't see Kylo Ren chasing her… yet. If luck and leg-power were on her side, Rey would make it to the elevator in time. If not… then she'd be taken to an elevator anyways— handcuffed.
But Rey would kill Kylo Ren before he could do that. She would kill him a thousand times over just to be free.
And then she'd kill herself.
God, how Rey wanted to kill herself.
She would die a thousand times, if that meant freedom.
Or even more than that.
