Thank you so, so much for the last chapter's reviews, even thought most of you were just really shocked. haha, sorry about that.

Hope you enjoy this next chapter.

Jocelyn stared at the scene in front of her in a state of shock. Her friend sat with a blond boy in his arms. Her parabatai kneeling next to him. She was whispering frantically to the boy while clutching his dark sweater.

Jocelyn tried to find her son, but Jon was nowhere to be seen. She saw someone who looked like Alec in the chaos, but she couldn't be completely sure.

Jocelyn backed up against the wall. It couldn't be true. It just couldn't. Not after everything they had been through, after losing Clary time after time, after getting her daughter back. It couldn't all end here. She couldn't have done it.

Jocelyn met Luke's dark blue eyes. He looked just as frustrated and sad as Jocelyn felt. They, more than anyone, stood between protecting Clary and standing up for their best friends. Jocelyn wanted to defend her daughter, but how could she do that if Clary had taken the life of her parabatai's eldest son?

Jocelyn closed her eyes in defeat. She couldn't think of what had happened.

She listened as the crowed whispered around her. Everyone in shock and anger. Clary had definitely ruined her chances of getting out of this mess.

Loud yells came from the door. "NO!" the boy cried in the pandemonium of people closing the space between him and his family.

"Please no." his tears started streaming down his cheeks. Iwan felt his knees giving away under him, his legs shaking. "Jace." His voice echoed through the cell chamber. He fought his way across the room, seeing his mom and dad standing in the corner of the room.

He couldn't see his mom's face, but from the way she held herself, he knew she was crying. The image in front of Iwan's eyes made him feel like he was about to cry even harder. "Dad." He whispered as he reached his parents.

Stephen met Iwan's eyes. The same deep blue colour, both crystal clear, water filling the corners.

"Iwan."

"No, no it can't be true!" Iwan whispered scared, his voice breaking.

His dad didn't answer, which made everything worse, because he didn't confirm nor deny Iwan's worst fear. It wasn't until he saw two dark dressed Shadowhunters carry a limp body out of the chamber it was confirmed.

Iwan stumbled a few steps as he tried to get to his brother. He couldn't breathe. A pair of hands grabbed hold of him, keeping him from falling to his knees. "Let me go!" Iwan yelled between choking tears. "Let me go!"

Luke turned the boy around, meeting his broken eyes. "It is going to be okay." Luke whispered. It was a complete lie, both of them knew that, but the words calmed Iwan's panicked breath. He threw his arms around the werewolf's neck. His hot tears falling on the man's shoulders.

"He.. he.. he's dead." Iwan breathed. "He can't be dead .He just can't."

"I don't know about this Alec." Isabelle said loudly, her voice ringing through the hotel room.

"I know, it's crazy." Alec muttered. He paced back and forth through the rooms small space.

"This really wasn't my plan." Magnus sighed, "How could you all be so reckless, this wasn't our plan!"

"I know, I'm sorry." Alec exhaled, frustration glowing red inside him. "I know that, but that's about it, I don't know why we changed it. I don't even know how they did it."

"So.. You just happily trusted them to do the right thing, not even knowing what you signed up for?" Jon replied in an accusing tone.

"Well, yeah." Alec looked away; avoiding eye contact with the brother of a girl he had just help make a murderer. "But I trust Jace, maybe you guys don't know, but he's smart, he knows what he's doing. And Clary too."

"Fine. Sorry." Magnus muttered as he leaned back in his chair.

"So, what are we supposed to do now?" Isabelle asked.

"Wait?" Jon suggested, shrugging his shoulders.

And so they did. Nothing happened for a few hours, the darkness had fallen over the hotel room. Isabelle had fallen asleep on the small couch, and Magnus had conjured a soft pillow to keep her head in the right angle.

Jon sat in absolute stillness, his head bowed down, looking at the floor and rubbed his hands together nervously.

Alec sat next to Magnus on the bed; his back leaned against the headboard. His eyelids were heavy and he looked ready to fall asleep any minute.

Magnus stared at the door, but from time to time he let himself cast a worried glance towards the dark-haired shadowhunter. He looked exhausted, and the pain he had experienced after Jace died had taken most of his strength away.

He opened his mouth to speak, but before he could even come up with the right words, someone started banging on the door.

Everyone in the room jumped up form where they were resting. "Do you think it's them?" Izzy asked.

"Who else could it be?" Jon replied, walking towards the door.

"I dunno, could be someone tricking us?" Isabelle answered suspiciously.

"No it's not. It them." Alec said, feeling it through his parabatai rune.

Jon opened the door, watching as two teenagers walked through it, Clary's eyes were red and she looked drained of all her usual energy.

"Thank God!" Isabelle threw her arms around Jace's neck, hugging him tightly.

Clary walked passed the two, her eyes falling on her brother. He smiled awkwardly at her, "Hi." He said carefully.

"Hi." Clary replied, her voice as small as if she had only breathed the words.

"How are you?" Jon asked, watching her struggle to keep herself on two feet.

"I'm fine." Clary snapped at him, regretting her tone as soon as she saw his expression drop.

"Excuse me, but can I please get an explanation as for why you felt the need to risk your lives even more? Was the original plan not daring and life threatening enough?" Magnus asked, receiving a weary chuckle from the blond boy.

"Well, I don't think I'm the right person to explain that.." Jace replied, pointing at Clary, who had sat down on the bedside.

Flashback

"Because if you do, you're not just kissing me, you're saying goodbye." Clary murmured.

"No I'm not, Clary…" Jace stopped midsentence.

'Tell me where you are Clarissa, Magdalena told me the Clave took you before she could get you to come with her, why would you do something like that darling?' Valentine's voice rang in her head. Clary had completely forgotten about the ring around her neck.

'Oh, but I though you could track me using your ring, father. Or are you losing your deleteriousness?' Clary smirked as she felt his anger bobble inside her.

'I would rather my daughter tell me where she is herself, I wouldn't want to do something you did not wish for Clary.'

'Ha, it's a little late for that.' Clary's voice spat at him, she hoped her words echoed as loud as a bomb inside his head.

'Well, if that is the case dear, I will happily inform you that I am not at all surprised by your answer.'

Clary gasped, pain flowed through her body.

"Clary.. Clary, are you okay?" Jace's concerned voice asked.

"Yeah, but I don't have much time." She answered, "Can you get these off?" She asked, moving her hands to show him what she meant.

"Yeah, sure." Jace smiled scrupulously.

He drew the same opening rune as Isabelle had performed a few minutes earlier, freeing Clary's hands from the uncomfortable metal keeping her hands locked together.

"Thanks."

"Clary, what's going on? Because a few minutes ago you agreed to our plan." Jace said.

"Yeah, I did. But now I don't." Clary smirked.

"Okay, please tell me more. That's not really an answer." Jace laughed nervously.

"I don't have much time, he's coming, or at least he's sending Circle members." Clary replied.

"What? Valentine?" Jace asked.

"Yes of course, who else?" Clary asked irritated.

"Why?" Jace wondered.

"Because, he's not very pleased with me for leaving." Clary muttered angry.

"What did he do?" Jace asked curiously, but Clary ignored his question, jumping towards her new, on the spot plan.

"I have to get out of here, as soon as possible." Clary told him, and he nodded understandingly.

"Okay, what are you going to do?"

Clary bit her lip carefully, "Do you trust me?" Clary asked, her voice shaking slightly as she spoke. Clary's eyes met Jace's, he didn't answer, his eyes studying her alertly.

"Why?"

"I have a plan, it's risky, but it might be my only shot." Clary answered.

"Well, didn't I just tell you you're worth saving, so I guess I'm in?" Jace grinned.

"I don't think you understand Jace, when I say it's risky, I don't mean you might not be home by dinner, it means you could die. Do you really trust me with your life?" Clary asked, and she sounded like she wanted him to say no.

"Well, tell me this dangerous plan, and then I'll give you my final answer."

"I'll have to kill you." Clary looked up at him.

"What?" Jace asked surprised.

"Well, not really kill you, but you'll look dead. Your pulse won't show and your heart won't beat, but you're not really dead." Clary explained, "It's a rune, but it's dangerous." Clary told him as his face grew white.

"You don't have to do it. I can try to find another way, you know what, this was really stupid, I'm not killing you-"

"Clary, I don't know why I trust you, I don't even think it's a good decision to trust you. And if I tell you what I am about to say, I could, no I will be thrown out of the Clave, probably stripped of all my marks, but I am still going to do it. Because if I have to watch you die, watch them kill you.. I don't think I could live with myself knowing I didn't do everything I my power to keep that from happening."

"Is that a yes?" Clary asked, a small smile running across her lips.

"Yeah."

"Then you're even more stupid than I thought you were Herondale." Clary told him, his cheeky smile brightening his face.

"Yeah, yeah, just tell me what I have to do." Jace requested, waving his hand impatiently.

"Just go back to the meeting, tell Alec there's been a change in the plan and that we'll meet them at the Crest hotel in New York before midnight. And tell him to not panic if he feels, well, kind of unwell." Jace nodded when Clary finished speaking.

"Mhm, I'll be back in less than ten minutes." Jace pushed the door open, hiding his stele from the guard's view. Clary heard him make up some unconvincing excuse for why he didn't leave with the others, but when his voice died out, Clary leaned her head against the wall, waiting.

Her hands were shaking; Jace definitely didn't know what he was signing up for, and throwing his friends with him into. If they succeeded with the first part of Clary's plan, they would only face hell later. And if they did not succeed, they would be sent straight into purgatory.

Clary pushed the thoughts out of her head, trying hard to forget everything. A cold feeling stung against her skin where the metal ring rested. She closed her fist around the ring, pulling it off, ripping the chain.

The first thing she would have to do when she got out would be to get that ring as far away from her and the others as possible.

Jace did not lie; he was back before she could count the tenth minute.

She stood up, standing on two unstable legs, ready to give away under her any second.

"So, what did he say?" Clary asked, secretly hoping he had refused.

"Not much. We should do it fast, the guard might not be out for very long." Jace explained, handing her the stele.

"You punched the guard?" Clary asked shocked, she had never thought Jace would willingly go against his own people, but then again, was this whole thing not exactly what that was? Going against their own people. Jace against the Clave, and Clary against the Circle.

"Yep, but as I said, he might not be out cold for very long." Jace shrugged his shoulders carefully.

"Okay." Clary whispered nervous. She placed the stele against his skin, ready to draw the rune. The fatal rune. Or possibly fatal.

Clary drew in a deep breath, watching Jace close his eyes, like he too was expecting the worst.

"Changed your mind?" Jace asked, opening his golden brown eyes, looking at her with a sweet glimmer in his eyes.

"No, but I have to do something first." Clary told him, turning towards the stone wall.

She placed the stele roughly against the wall, writing in bold, shaky letters what her father had always told her. It was Clary's way of telling him she had given up on him. Her way of saying he could go to hell. That she would never go back to him again.

'If I cannot move Heaven, I will raise Hell.'

"Okay, that's creepy." Jace muttered, mostly to himself rather than to Clary.

"Will it stay?" Jace asked a little louder.

Clary turned away from the glowing letters, watching Jace's face light up in the light of heavenly fire.

"I think so.. I hope so." Clary sighed, if her father did not stop the attack when he heard Clary had killed Jace and escaped the Glass City, he would at least be met by a little surprise.

"Okay, you ready?" Clary asked, sending him a lopsided smile.

"Always." Jace laughed, "Who wouldn't wanna die at the hands of a deadly redhead like yourself Morgenstern?"

"You're not dying Herondale." Clary muttered unamused.

"You don't really know that." Jace smirked. Clary didn't know if he was hiding his fear behind cheeky answers or if he just genuinely got a kick out of irritating her.

Jace held out his hand and Clary held it in her open palm, placing the cold stele over the back of his hand.

She started drawing the curved lines, hoping her angelic skills did not fail her now.

The rune was done, and with a bright red splendour, he slowly started to fall out of consciousness.

Clary knew what would happen now, being an unnatural cause of death; Alec would have felt something now, probably causing the chaos Clary needed to escape.

She started running, the stele still held tightly in her grip. Clary stopped when she heard the shocked voices growing louder and more panicked. She drew a portal in the middle of the passage, getting the hell out of the city before anyone could get to her.

xxxx

Jace woke up with a gasp. His chest ached fiercely and his head hurt like he'd slammed it against the floor. Which actually wasn't that big of a surprise. He pretended to still be unconscious, or dead, depending on how he looked at it.

The room was quiet. And he was pretty sure no one was with him at the moment. Opening his eyes, he squinted at the heavy lit room.

He tried to focus his thoughts enough to remember the plan. Through still half closed eyes, he found the door and decided to stand up, walking through it. Praying to all the angels above he would be alone in the whole corridor.

Clary had asked him to get out of Alicante, and meet her in the Brocelind Forest, where the forest leads to the city. He had to get there soon if he wanted out before anyone noticed.

Jace ran down the corridors, he had figured out where he was, which made everything a lot easier. He slowed down when he began hearing voices. Two or three very similar female voices chattered loudly, ringing through the hollow walls of the corridor.

Jace kept close to the right side, where most of the doors were placed, just in case he had to hide.

After another five minutes of walking through the large building, Jace finally found the large, Victorian built door that lead to the streets of Alicante.

The moon hung low on the sky, fog and dark clouds shielding the moonlight from clearing up the pavement.

xxxx

"That took a while Herondale." A fresh voice called from the darkness, "I was beginning to think I had actually killed you."

"Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm still alive and well." Jace smirked.

"Good." Clary spoke quietly.

She immediately started drawing the portal leading both of them out of the forest. "Hope you're not done with the adventures yet Herondale." Clary grinned; secretly she wished she was done, because the road ahead would be a lot harder than just escaping a useless prison cell.

"Adventure is my middle name." Jace stated loudly, causing a flock of birds to fly off their branch. Flying high into the night sky and leaving Clary with a dozen small goosebumps prickling across her skin.

The portal opened in iridescent bright light, illuminating the trees and the dry ground.

"Jace Adventure Herondale, I think that sounded better in your head." Clary acknowledged before jumping through the large whole in the ground. Before her feet left the soft earth, she dropped the necklace with the fairy ring in a pillow of red and orange leaves.

xxxx

The New York night was much louder and brighter than their previous location. Clary waited for Jace to get through the portal before she started walking.

"We're not too far away from Crest. I think fifteen minutes at most." Clary told him. She could feel the heat of his body touch her side as they walked shoulder to shoulder.

"Mhm.." Jace mumbled quietly, a blank glace swept through his facial expression.

"Something wrong?" Clary inquired.

"No, I'm just thinking." Jace smiled, his voice sounding distant and not like his usual sarcastic self.

"About what?" Clary didn't know why she kept pushing him, but she felt like if something bothered him, it had to be because of her.

"Just that my whole family thinks I'm dead. I just feel bad for not telling them, you know, Iwan, he's fragile. Doesn't take death as easily as other Shadowhunters." Jace explained, "When our granddad past away, three years ago, he took it worst of all of us. I just feel bad for tricking him." He added.

Clary didn't answer. His confession helped the small knot in her stomach grow larger. Helping her feel bad for dragging him into the mess she'd created.

A few loud voices helped make her silence less awkward. A gang of young adults walked down the thin pavement, eyeing Clary with hungry eyes.

Jace went rigid, pulling Clary out of the way, giving them enough space to walk past them.

"What are you doing?" Clary asked irritated, getting out of his grip.

"Nothing, I just got a bad feeling." Jace shrugged.

Behind them, they both heard one of the boys yell drunk-ishly in their direction.

"Hey, hey dude, how much did you pay for that one?" his alcohol breath followed the wind, hitting Clary's nostrils with a sharp, disgusting smell.

"What?" Jace asked confused, clearly not understanding what the guy meant.

"You know, where did you get your little lady friend here?" He snickered.

"Excuse me?" Both Jace and Clary asked in sync.

"You know, just tell him, and help a horny fellow out with his sexual frustration." One of his other, taller friends barked between laughter.

Jace took a few steps towards the group of drunken guys before Clary could snap at them.

"I strongly advise you to get the fuck out of my sight before I kick the living shit out of you." Jace muttered coldly in the boy's face, leaving a misty cloud of cold breath in the air between them.

"Wow, chill out man." He laughed, but when he noticed Jace's deep, angry golden eyes, he backed away, pulling his friends with him.

Clary rolled her eyes, and began walking again.

"Why did you do that?" She asked angry.

"Do what?" Jace asked again.

"Speak for me? I can take care of myself." Clary told him, her voice sounding vexed.

"I know you can.." Jace retorted.

"So what's your excuse?"

"I told you I had a bad feeling." Jace didn't answer her question, just kept walking.

They reached the hotel after walking the rest of the way in silence.

The hotel was glorious, high ceiling, and a large lobby with a much more fancy reception than the last hotel Clary entered. Clary exhaled loudly; relieved they had actually made it the whole way without getting caught.

end of flashback

xxxx

After explaining the new plan, Clary rewarded herself with a long, hot shower. She let the hot water burn her skin softly. Clearing her skin of all the dirt and blood she had covered herself in.

"Clary, there are others who are planning on showering as well." Isabelle banged on the bathroom door.

Clary ignored her, Isabelle could wait.

After ten or fifteen minutes, Clary stepped out of the bathroom. Her hair was dripping cold against her skin as she pressed the towel against it.

"For someone who just escaped a prison, I have to say you don't rush things." Jace's voice called out from the other side of the room.

Clary jumped back in surprise, "I thought you left, I heard Magnus talked about using another room?" Clary tried to keep her voice even, but the fact that she stood in front of Jace in a tight top and a pair of baggy shorts belonging to Isabelle, really freaked her out more than she would ever admit.

"Yeah he did, but I didn't feel like waiting for all of them to get ready. And I wanted to make sure you were okay." He sent her a small half-smile.

"I am." Clary answered short.

"I know." Jace replied, his voice showing he knew she wasn't.

Clary paced the room awkwardly, trying to find something to do, keeping him away from her.

Jace leaned against the wall, looking through a book with a red and black cover.

"Jace." Clary said after a few uncomfortable minutes.

"Hm?"

"Can I ask you something?" She bit her lip nervously.

"You just did.." Clary's eyes narrowed a bit and he added with a smirk, "Sure, go ahead."

"Earlier today, when you, when I.. Ehhm, you know, when you tried to.. you tried to kiss me.." Clary felt her cheeks heat up.

Clary could feel Jace's smirk grow bigger between every word Clary struggled to get out.

"Why did you do it? Was it just because you thought I was going to die?" Clary asked, forcing her voice to keep a steady tone.

"I didn't think you were going to die." Jace told her, pushing away from the wall, "You thought you were about to die."

"Then why?" Clary asked irritated.

"Does it really have to be a reason? Maybe I just like you Morgenstern." Jace laughed. How could he sound so calm while telling her something like that?

"No, you don't." Clary stated. How could he? He still believed Clary had demon blood inside her, how could he honestly like a demon? How could he honestly like her?

"I don't?" Jace asked bemused.

"You can't. I'm not like you.. I'm not good, I'm the enemy and I don't think that will ever change. So you can't." Clary explained.

"And what if I don't care?" Jace asked, walking up to her with a sly grin on his mouth.

"But.. but I'm not even pretty." Clary thought of Isabelle, she was the definition of gorgeous, her black hair, tall body and dark brown eyes.

Jace chuckled lightly, looking down at her with mixed feeling swimming in his eyes.

"You weren't meant to be just pretty Clary. You, of all people should know that you were meant to be so much more than that. You can change the world and open people's eyes like they've never seen sunlight before. Please, for the love of God don't let anyone ever simplify you to being just pretty." Jace said, his voice low, but not fully a whisper, "And for the record, I think you're beautiful."

For a second his golden-brown eyes were on her, Clary was more conscious of Jace than she had ever been of anything. His faint white scars that traced his skin in elegant old ancient runes, and his blond hair falling gracefully in his eyes, like they were created for that reason, and that reason only.

She noticed a fading grin on his face, and Clary felt his breath brush against her cheeks. She felt like her heart stopped when he leaned toward her and brushed his lips across hers. She rested her hand on his chest, not pushing him away, but instead making sure he didn't leave.

For a short moment Clary's lips pressed fiercely against his, taking in everything he was, the sweet taste of his lips on hers and the careful, but steady breath that escaped him.

Jace pulled away, leaving her breathless for only a few seconds before he pulled her hard against him. She wrapped her fingers around his neck, feeling the strong muscles of his back. She felt his hands tangle inside her hair, pressing her closer to his body. There was no longer any space between them, and his lips moved fast over hers.

She took a few steps back, hitting the wall behind her. Lips locked, he let his hands fall to her sides, his light touch sending a cold shiver through Clary's body. Clary could feel his lips curve into small grin before he pulled away, giving her time to breathe.

Well, there you go. I did it, they kissed. Please review and tell me what you think, did you like it? Did you hate it? Do you want something special to happen? Just tell me:)
