"There!" The Western Lady stepped back to admire her handiwork. "Too fine for a serving girl, too human for a prospect—I cannot wait to hear the speculation!"
"Should I wear something simpler?" Kagome worried.
"Nonsense. It would be rude to refuse your lord's gifts."
"But won't I attract the wrong kind of attention?"
"Undoubtedly!" the demoness gleefully confirmed.
"I was hoping to fade into the background."
"You will shine like a jewel in this setting," the lady declared with a light laugh. "I still cannot decide if Sesshoumaru was backward or brilliant in bringing you. Either way, it should be entertaining."
