Here's the next chapter for Mysterious Magic. This right here is one episode I never really liked, but thankfully with a little bit of help and thinking, I've given it something that gives it a bit more meaning and not just a filler from the main plot.
Enough talk from me.
Now without further ado, lets get this thing started.
Chapter 15
Sense & Insensetivety
With a few free days gone, it was now time for the residents of the Owl House to get back to work. After arriving in Bonesborough and finding a good spot where the guards don't usually hang out, they set up shop.
And so far business was good, they managed to make a few sales, especially with Evan and Luz's knowledge on a certain few items. But as of the moment things were rather slow and since it was, they were on break. Evan sat down next to his mother counting how much they made today, both were wearing their own set of sunglasses.
Luz was nowhere to be seen, but that was because she decided to go off for a little bit, just as long as she didn't try anything funny just like when she snuck off to the Lava Pond. Even though Evan appreciated her effort, but it was still stupid, but no less it was done and over with. Plus Evan was relieved to know she was okay.
Meanwhile during the slow phase, King was doing something. But it was more like he was trying to him himself busy and from being bored.
He's holding out a tray of mostly inedible human things, like an eight ball a Santa Claus pez dispenser while there was a gross looking hotdog covered with toothpaste and two strands of bacon.
" Partake of my free snack samples! I demand it as your ruler, the King of Demons! " Several people past but none even look at him. He then throws the tray on the ground in frustration. " Nyeh! Why isn't anyone paying attention to me? "
" Maybe because they don't care? " Evan commented sarcastically getting a light laugh from Eda.
" I'm their rightful overlord. Intellectually and such. "
" Uh-huh... " Evan hummed in thought looking around in confusion throwing his shades aside. " Compared to early this morning, it's almost like somethings going on today. "
Eda came out of the tent agreeing with what her son was saying. " Yeah...Something...Hey! " She grabs a random student from hexside and sniffs his cowel. " It reeks more of nerd than money today. "
" Guys! " Just like that Luz came out of nowhere slamming her hands on the table startling the group making Eda drop the student. " You will not believe what's going on! "
" What is? " Evan asked tilting his head in confusion.
" I'll show you c'mon! C'mon! " Luz said excitedly grabbing Evan by the arm to show him and the rest of the owl house residents.
" Your not peaking are you? "
" Luz, you got my only good eye covered remember? " Evan replied back as she continued to drag him it was shown there was a blindfold covering the right side of his face. " It's not like I can always the other one. Are we almost there yet? "
" Yep! Just minute. " She runs off and gives him the signal. " Okay, take it off. " Upon removing it he now sees her posing underneath a banner and all around were different kinds of books.
" It's a book fair! Where books come to life! "A book jumps off one of the stands next to her. " Hello. " Seeing how a book literally came to life she screamed in fear and kicked it away.
" Huh, I didn't know they had this. " Evan commented in surprise gazing around his surroundings.
" A fair without rides? " King questioned in confusion as a boy with a large backpack came out of nowhere.
" Who needs rides when this... " He shoves a book in King's face "..can take you anywhere? "
" Nyeh. "Annoyed by his presence, King threw a strip of bacon on the boy's head. A winged demon flies by and yanked him away.
Eda picks up a book from the cyclops girls stand and drops it to the ground. " A, ew. B, I'm bored. C, I feel like pickpocketing some dork while they browse. " She said before walking off.
" No, wait! " Eda had already walked off and then Luz looked over to King. " Will you give it a chance? I'll let you ride in my hoodie! "
" Ooohoohoohoo! " The canine happily accepted the idea and jumped into her hood. " How about you Evan wanna join us? "
" Eh, I don't have anything else better to do. "
The three of them now go further into the book fair seeing what it had to offer.
" This book fair's got everything! A zine-making workshop, meet and greets... "
" Not to mention books that try to eat you... " Evan noted seeing something that resembled the monster book from hairy potter trying to get it's teeth on someone. " I hope they might have some manga from the human world. Hmm? " Evan paused seeing a bunch of people gathered in one spot. " What's going on over there? " After getting a closer look Luz gasped in excitement upon seeing the banner.
" A writing competition!? I've always wanted to be a writer. "
" Wait what? " Evan and King looked over to her. " You want to be a writer? "
" Yeah, I thought you wanted to be a witch? "
" Of course I wanna be a witch. But where I'm from that's kinda... impossible. So my runner up dream was to be a writer. " She then brings out a picture showing her when she was younger wearing a space dolphin sweater and posing against a window?
" What are you supposed to even be doing this? " Evan questioned raising an eyebrow.
" Taking my author picture. I've had this since I was seven years old. I know my good angle. " She puts the picture away. I'm gonna enter the competition. " As she declared that the same girl from Gus's club in the healing track came running by Luz laughing away not noticing she bumped into her.
" Hey watch where your going! " Evan called out but was ignored.
" Ugh! What are these basement dwellers doing out in natural sunlight? " King asked.
" Um! We're in line for Jon De Plume. " Tiny nose said coming up them holding a book of her own. " Most famous writer on the Boiling Isles, famed author of the Realm Warriors series! "
" You mean that guy? " Evan pointed over to a dude at the booth with a stupid looking haircut, and in his opinion he looked ridiculous.
" Yep, I'm gonna have him read my story... and marry me. " She whispered the last part in determination.
" Well good luck with that... " Evan commented as they watched the author signing away like crazy.
" Jon, will you sign my child? "
" I'll sign anything! " He replied back and laughed evilly. " Yeah, I can already tell that guys an asshole. " Evan noted with a flat expression while King was entranced.
" Such power...Such command he holds over his minions...I must have the same! " He said before speaking up. " Luz the human! I too shall enter the competition. "
" Really? " She gasped gaining an idea. " We could work together! It'll be perfect! We're best friends, so we'll make the best team!
" Team! Yes! " King agreed with what was said. " My name goes first on the cover.
Luz turned her gaze over to her other friend. " Evan do you want to join us? "
" As tempting as it sounds, I'm good. " Evan anwsered. " I'm gonna go scope around to dig up what I can find. " He said before walking off. King noticed Luz looked a bit sad by the one eyed warlocks anwser.
" You okay Luz? "
" Yeah, I'm okay. We should back home to start working our book. " She said before leaving with mixed feelings for some odd reason.
Elsewhere at the book fair, Evan was scoping out some of the older looking books, primarily those about curses, but so far he's found nothing. " Damn it... " He cursed whispered putting it back in the shelf. " Out of all of these books here, there's nothing that can help out with mom's curse? Geez, what a let down he said before a random book fell from the shelf hitting him in the head.
" Ow! And there's the only reason I hate them... " Evan said rubbing his head and looked to see what was dropped. The title caught his attention. 'So Your Cursed?' Picking it up he flipped through the pages humming in interest carefully looking through them. " Looks like I spoke to soon... "
" Boring... " He flinched in surprise quickly tucking what he had into his the back of shirt. The reason why was because his mother was nearby and she was not enjoying the book fair one bit and was throwing and knocking down books left and right and picked up another book with a mirror on it. While she was occupied with it, Evan walked up to her.
" Boring. " Suddenly Eda gasped in surprise looking into a mirror. " Another wrinkle! The curse is quickening... " She now sees Evan's reflection. " Eh, don't worry about it, you're okay. "
" Easy for you say, your still young. " She said turning over to him. " You don't have to worry about wrinkles till your my age. "
Evan gained a very teasing smirk. " Or maybe you just need to stop frowning so much...Frowning makes more wrinkles~ " He sung ticking Eda off and then having enough, she started yanking on his ear. " Oooooowwwww! "
" You better apologize! "
" No! " The son of the owl lady replied back in defiance.
" Apologize! "
" Ow-ow-ow-ow...I ain't taking it back! Ow! "
"You, lackey. " Upon hearing the voice, Eda grabs her son and ducks behind a banner that says "READ OR... DIE". She lifts the banner and glares at her sister with a random coven soldier with her. Seeing the witch, only made Evan scoff.
" Do you have the item we discussed? " She and the soldier were facing some sort of mammal type demon.
" Oh! Yes, right here. " Opening a drawer he takes a folded up map and passes it to her. She opens it and smiles very pleased with what she was seeing.
" This is excellent. A map to the Bloom of Eternal Youth ." She curls up the map. " I think the emperor will be very pleased. "
" Ma'am, shouldn't we be searching for the Owl Lady, the Devil Eye and that other kid to join the coven? Remember that whole plan. "
Lilith laughed at what he said. "My sister's curse has left her frail. She'll still be here when we get back. " Eda growled at what she said.
" As for Evan and Wilhelm, we'll deal with them soon. This comes first, it's for the emperor after all. "
" Yeah! " The soldier exclaimed knocking over the merchant's books. " All hail the emperor! "
" Very good Steve... " Llilith patted him on the head and walked away. " Shoulder pats for Steve! "
With both emperor lapdogs gone, both mother and son jumped over a table. " Hey bub, what'd you sell my prissy sister? "
" Oh! It's a map to the Bloom of Eternal Youth. A rare flower that only grows once a millennia. Like the name says, it gives eternal youth to whomever holds it. "
" Interesting. So Lilith wants to nab this power for the emperor, huh. Well, won't she be surprised when I get there first and get it for myself! Hah! That'll show her who's frail. "
The merchant grinned maliciously for some reason, which didn't go unnoticed by Evan. " Well, we'll see won't we. " He opens up another drawer which was filled with more maps." Can't go without a map of course. " He hands Eda one. She takes it and opens it, grinning away looking forward to foil her sister's quest.
Back at the Owl House, in Luz's room she and King were getting busy with making their story for the writing competition. O the side was a large corkboard which was conveniently lying around in the spare junk pile. It had multiple cards pinned to it, pieces of paper were scattered all over the floor. There was also a banner above them reading out. "Luzura's Awakening."
As one could guess, the plot involved Luz's fantasy self along with King who changed his name to Ruler. While it seemed cliche, the idea itself came along quite nicely. Right now King was pacing across the room reading what Luz had written on a type writter.
" 'Luzura's tears fell on the frozen prince, bringing him back to life.' Ehhh it just seems kind of unrealistic. " King commented.
" I see what you're saying. " Luz agreed as she stopped typing on a living type writer. " But in your version, Ruler just destroys everything. I think a little romantic tension could help the scene. "
" Hey, there's more to life than shipping. "
" Don't you dare insult shipping in my presence! " Luz exclaimed pointing at the canine.
"Apprentice! " Eda's voice echoed through the house. " Living room! "
" I'll be back, we'll figure this out, okay writing buddy? " Luz gets up and makes her way out while King looks over at the type writer.
" My turn to write! " He exclaimed happily.
At the living room Eda was looking at the map that was given wearing her cowel while Evan walked up beside her.
" Alright, we know where we need to go? " He questioned getting a nod from his mother.
" Hey! " Luz came up to them. " What's up boss lady and boss boy? "
" Me and Evan are popping out for a few days to an undisclosed place to do undisclosed things. You're in charge. "
" Great! " Luz replied as they made their way out.
" No questions! "
" Okay! " Luz replied again as both mother and son put their hoods on.
" I said no questions! " She closes the door before it opens up again by Evan. " And please don't do anything stupid while were gone either. " He said before closing it making Luz smile a bit glad to know Evan thought about her safety.
" Well King, it's just you and me for a while. " She gasped in shock in what she was seeing. [gasps]
In the minute she's been gone, King has transformed the room. Drawings of King and screaming people are on the corkboard. The Luzura transcript was now in the trash and the banner of the title was covered in big red letters called 'Ruler's Reach.' The canine was typing peacefully.
" Hey hey Luz, great news! "
" What have you done?! " Luz was in absolute disbelief to see what he had done to their project. "I just made a few tiny edits and this baby is humming! " Luz picks up a small drawing of her character.
" Luzura dies? "
" I know, right! What a twist! "
Luz only pinched the bridge of her nose. " King, I know you're trying to help, but I think you're crossing a line. "
" Yeah, into greatness. Don't you want us to win? "
" If this is how you want to win, maybe you should submit the story on your own. " She said before leaving feeling very disappointed and betrayed by one of her many friends.
" What? " King couldn't understand what he had done even as the door closed. " Bah! What does she know? "
" What the heck man? Learn to collaborate. " The type writer asked actually making a good point.
" Hush you! I'll prove to both of you my story is superior. "
Making his way back into Bonesborough King spotted Grimgrub's Pub. Which was a nice small spot the locals all liked to hang out at. Making his wat over to the doors King banged the doors open.
" Hey you scum! " He yelled out drawing their attention. " Which one of you wants to read my literary masterpiece!? Anyone brave enough? " The patrons only growled in annoyance.
Outside King was thrown outside landing in a puddle of mud face first. As he lifted up his head, the manuscript of his book comes flying out hitting him in the back of the head making his face re connect with the mud.
" Nyah! Ugh. "
" I'll read your ssstory. " An erry voice said taking King's book. It was a humanoid reptilian. He had two blue eyes. He wears small glasses that rest at the end of his nose, and he has teeth that stick out from outside his mouth. He wears a long red jacket with yellow trimming and a blue hat. After wiping off the mud, a third eye opened up on his forehead and just like that all three were glowing as he flipped through the pages not even staying one. While doing so he smiled, looking very pleased with what he was reading until he stopped, his eyes stopped glowing and his third eye closed. " You wrote this? "
" Yup, that's me! " The canine replied wiping mud off his face. " Only me. "
" Let me get you a fruit punch. " He offered motioning inside the pub.
" Ooh. I love punching. " He accepted the offer.
Inside the reptile snaps his singers and a glass of fruit punch is slid on the counter toward King " I'm Piniet, of Piniet Publissshing Houssse. And your name isss... King? "
" It's more of a rank than a name. "
" I loved your story, so much better than the submissssionss we got for the competition. I want to buy it and publisssh it for everyone to read. I'll make you as famous as Jon De Plume. "
To the side, Jon De Plume getting cheered on by fans as he does finger guns. While falling backwards two female students rush to act as a chair for him.
" I've always wanted a people chair! I'm in! This will be my first step in my reclamation of power! "
Piniet pulls a contract out of his jacket." Then all you have to do is sssign here. " He puts the contract on the counter. King dunks his paw in the punch and smacks it on the signature line. The contract glows when Piniet picks it up. He rolls it and puts it back in his jacket.
" You're ominous. And I like it. "
" Get ready to be famousss Mr. King. " The two of them then shake hands.
While that drama was going on, Elsewhere on the Isles we see both Eda and Evan making their way through the forest and into a clearing. Evan was consulting the map. while Eda rips vines off of a statue that revealed to be a minitaur giving a thumbs up.
" Okay, Evie, what does the map say? "
" From the Minitaur, we head due north. That doesn't sound to far, so we should get to the Bloom of Eternal Youth before Lilith does. " He said tucking the map into his shirt while his mother laughed and snorted a bit.
" Who's frail now, emperor dorks? " The sound of branch snapping caught their attention. " Someone's following us! "
With a snap, Eda summons a blue sword. She and Evan duck behind the statue. Looking over to her son while making a fireball she nodded her head. He nodded back making a black axe with his magic. After a brief second they both sprung out from their hiding places ready to attack who was following them.
" Spicy toss! "
" Kill! " As they both charged it turned out the one who emerged was Lilith who pretty much looked worse for worse yelping upon seeing the two attackers spring out.
Upon seeing her, both mother and son skidded to halt. " Lilly? "
" Edalyn? Evan? "
" Oh joy... " Evan said a blank tone as he and Eda's weapons disappeared making Lilith sigh.
" And of course you would be here just to be a nuisance. And you have the audacity to bring your own child into this mess. Why don't you go home and rest? Wouldn't want you breaking a hip. "
" Maybe you should look in the mirror, you don't exactly have that perfect image you love so much. " Evan retorted back. " By the way is that a wrinkle I see? " He asked earning a frown and growl from his aunt while Eda laughed at her sons words happily patting him on the back.
" Sorry sister, I'm stronger than you think. were here to save the Bloom of Eternal Youth from the likes of you. " Eda said before running off with her son singing. " And we're gonna get there before you! "
" Aah! No you won't! " Lilith said in a panicked tone.
" Catch us if you can old hag! "
A day had now passed and immediately afterwards, King's 'master piece' Ruler's reach became a best selling hit. He got exactly what he wanted, money, attention and lastly a feeling of empowerment. While even though Luz was betrayed by one of her friends, she used the time she had to work on something else. Something that was important and help her address something.
" Do you really think this the right way to go? " Luz asked the typewriter. " Well, here's a question for you. Do you feel more confident in this? "
" Maybe... "
" That's okay. Just follow what your heart says. "
" Hey Luz! " Hearing the voice made her stop and looked over to the doorway glaring over at King. He was now wearing 'author's' clothing. A brown padded jacket, a green scarf and a pair of red sun glasses.
" Guess who won the writing competition and became a blockbuster writer superstar? " King raised up shades giving her the question. Only she didn't awnser and continued typing. Not seeing she was still mad at him, King slides across the room. " You're right, it's me! Me! Do you wanna touch my scarf? A fan crocheted it out of their own hair! It smells so bad! "
Luz continued to type and ignored him. With no response still given, King reached into his sweater pulling out a red envelope.
" My publisher is throwing a huge party for my book, Ruler's Reach. " He puts the invitation on the table. " And I, uh, I'd like for you to be there. "
Luz finally gave him a silent awnser and sweeps the invitation off the table. It hits the floor and she continues typing giving the canine a clear enough message for him to understand. "Alright, fine! Be that way I guess. "
He said leaving the room as he left, Luz stops typing and looked to where King had left sighing sadly.
" Girl, you don't need him. " The typewriter said.
" But I don't want to be mad at him either. " Luz admitted as she picks up the invitation and opens it. Inside is a golden paper that says "MEET THE AUTHOR TONIGHT ONLY BONESBOROUGH LIBRARY". A picture of King in a blue sweater is in the middle.
Later on that night at the library, there was an extensive line outside of it. All of the canines followers young and old were beyond excited to meet him in person. At a table he sat down next to Piniet. He had been giving autographs and anwsering a couple of questions since the whole thing started.
" Your fans are dying to know when Ruler's Reach 2 comes out! "
" That's between me and my publisher... " King replied lifting up his shades and playfully knudged him in the arm. " ight Piniet? "
" Yessss. " He replied before adressing the crowd. " Ooh pardon me, I need a few momentsss of King'sss time. " Piniet walks off leaving King confused. So deciding to see what was going on, the canine looked back at his fans and throws a peace sign, making them scream in excitement.
The two of them got a safe distance away from the crowd, stopping in front of the romance section.
" Where's Jon De Plume at? " King asked. " I wanted to compare sunglasses. "
" Oh he'sss taking a break to finish his latest masterpiece. " Piniet replied. " Fame can really box you in, you know? Uh, ssspeaking of, how's your sssecond book coming along? "
" Coming along? Or finished! " King pulls out a manuscript. " Bam! Haha! Ruler's Reach 2 - now with more swears! "
" Ahhh! Sssplendid! " Taking the manuscript the reptilian read through the story. " Oh you cad! Not only are you a great writer, but a practical joker as well! "
" That's true- wait, what? " King caught onto what his publisher said.
" Oh, this is truly awful! Looking forward to the real draft. " He hands the manuscript back and walks away leaving King both stunned and confused.
" Truly awful? But I'm a best-selling writer. How? " Looking around he spotted Luz who had only recently entered the library looking generally disinterested being there do to the mixed feelings she was having.
" Luz!... " The canine now realized what was wrong. " I can't write without her! " He ran over to her.
" Luz, buddy! I'm so glad you could make it! "
" Hey King, I didn't wanna be angry at your success. You're my friend. So, congratulations! " She said trying to put aside her anger despite still feeling betrayed.
" Great to hear, 'cause I really need your help with my next book! "
" Huh? "
" Apparently I can't write my daring works of genius without rebelling against your gushy fantasy slop! "
Luz blushed in embarrassment and was offended by what he'd just said. " Excuse me? "She couldn't believe he had the nerve to ask her for help especially with how he took everything they worked for granted and completely broke her trust.
" We make a great team! So, here's a pen. Writey writey, clock's a-tickin'! " He said nervously clicking on the said pen. She takes the pen and drops it, making the gathered crowd gasp.
" I'm not writing for you after you made fun of all my ideas! "
" Hey! What the heck!? " King questioned as he picked up the pen while Luz turned away and started leaving not before pausing to look over her shoulder.
"Congratulations on all your hard earned success. "
Picking up the manuscript, King started to grow fearful. "What am I gonna do? I can't write without her! "Unknown to King Piniet was listening in on their whole talk from behind a bookcase humming a bit, intrigued by what he just discovered.
At the same time, back in the forest. Eda, Evan and Lilith continued their race through the forest. The three of them had been doing this all day, despite that, they were all showing no signs of slowing down. But as they were doing so, they were all unaware that a shadow was following them.
Evan yawned as he ran. " This getting boring. Are we almost done yet? "
Eda laughed at what he said. " I think so. Hey, Lily? Doesn't this remind you of how we used to race to the kitchen? " She got no response and looked back to see she wasn't behind them and skidded to a halt. " Lilly? "
" Huh, maybe she skipped out. " Evan commented until they both heard muffled cry's from up above. Both of them looked to see that Lilith waswrapped up in some sort of silk, being held by a crab-like monster. The monster growls as the witch tried to free herself.
" Lilly! " Eda looked over to her son. " Evan help me out! "
" Do I have to? " He asked clearly not wanting to do it despite what was going on.
" Evan! " Evan only scoffed at her response. " Fine. " Both of them made their own spell circles. From Eda she created a large fireball while Evan unleashed a blast of lightning from his right hand. Both of their spells hit the crab monster making fly off into the distance.
Lilith meanwhile gave off a muffled yell as she fell into a bush. " There happy? " Evan questioned as his mother went over to help his aunt up.
" Alley-Oop! " While doing so the silk wrapping her up undid itself.
" Ugh, thank you Edalyn! I wasn't certain that you'd save me. "
" Stow it! " Eda said. " Ugh, we might fight, but you're still my sister. And besides, if someone's gonna be putting you down, it's gonna be me. Ha! " She exclaimed lightly slapping Lilith's back.
Lilith chuckled and looked over to Evan. " I appreciate the help to Evan. " He only huffed and looked away from her gaze making her sigh. As she turned over Lilith spotted something. " Oh, is that? "
Eda presses her face to sister. Through the trees, in front of a statue of somesort was a glowing pink flower. They all then walked towards it. And Eda confirmed what it was. " The Bloom of Eternal Youth! "
" Finally... " Evan said in a dry tone yawning once more glancing between his mother and aunt. " So, we gonna fight or what? "
" Nah, we don't need to... " Eda said as she pushed Lilith into the ground. " That baby is good as ours. "
Lilith growled in annoyance. " Why are you always like this? "
"Because Lilith, you think I'm just some tired old biddy. Ah, but I'm more than that. [magically cuts the flower] And with the Bloom of Eternal Youth's power, I'll show you! "
The flower suddenly disappears from her hand much to her surprise. " What the- " As she was about to say anything else a shadow falls over Eda as he stands atop the stone behind the flower, meaning something else was going on. While she stared up at whoever set them up, Lilith and Evan walked up beside her.
After the small party at the library everyone had headed straight to the convention center theater where King would announce the confirmed sequel of Rulers Reach 2.
The stands were all packed and the crowd was chanting King's name as they all anxiously waited for the canine to come out and confirm the good news. However, while the fame and attention was what he wanted, King was starting to have doubts as he looked at the audience from behind the curtain.
" Oh boy..." He starts to pace around to try and calm himself down. " Oh, man, Aw jeez. " It turned to nervous whimpering. " Hemming. Hawing. " He soon walked over to his publisher. " Piniet, I gotta come clean. We can't announce book two. I can't write without... without... "
" Without your writing partner? " Piniet smirks evilly much to Kings confusion. After following him, his publisher opened the door leading into the dressing room where Luz was trapped inside, in a translucent purple box who turned around to see her friend.
" King! "
" Luz! " The canine ran up to the box taken surprised by what he was seeing.
" That snappily dressed lizard trapped me in this shrinking box. " Luz explained what had happened as Piniet tightened his fist. The box shrinks and hits Luz in the head knocking her down. " You gotta get me out! "
King turned to face Piniet " What are you doing with her? Let her go! "
" You wrote Ruler's Reach together. " The reptilian said walking up to him. " So if you don't want her crushed, you'll write together again. " Luz and King both give him kicked-puppy looks.
Oh, don't give me that look. " Piniet said still bearing his smirk "Some of the best books were written in literal crunch time. " He tightened his fist again making the box shrink some more startling Luz.
" That's a toxic mentality that contributes to burnout and unrealistic expectations! " Luz pointed out. " King, do something! "
King growled in anger walking up to Piniet. " Set her free, now! " He demanded only for his publisher to lean down into his face. " Not until I get my best-seller. " He then reached into his jacket. " You'll recall you are under contract. " He said reminding the canine of the agreement they made. The paper started glowing and King was coated in the same energy making him float as a hole opened in the box much to Luz's surprise as Piliet flicked a single finger flinging King through the hole getting him inside the box.
Once in there, Piniet droped a whole stack of paper and a pen into the box. " Make your deadline, or you'll never be able to hold a pen again. Just like... " He raised up his hand revealing it to be Jon De Plume, now shrunk into a cube.
" Help me! ""
" Noooo! " King screamed as he and Luz watched Piniet open a briefcase, in which are dozens of other cubed authors. All screaming for help. The reptilian puts Jon De Plume into an empty slot and closes the briefcase muffling the screams.
" I'll leave you to it. " Piniet said as he makes his way to the door. " Looking forward to your next volume! " The door closed and the box shrunk again.
" We're not getting out of here until we write a book, and that'll take forever! " He said throwing up the paper letting it scatter in the air putting his hands on his head. " We're cube meat! "
" Well, I have my story. " Luz said taking out the manuscript from her bag titled: Luzura And the Shimmering Tears of Love + Hate.
" But it's all hugging and crying! " King said putting it down with his paw. " I can't put my name on that! "
" King... " Luz was now fed up with his attitude and stood up. " That is why we are in here! Because YOU, can't compromise! " She said before turning around as did her canine friend. " All I wanted was to write a dumb story with my friend. It's already bad enough, with how things have been lately with Evan. I just thought, maybe this wouldn't turn out so bad, but instead it did. "
Letting her words sink in, King turned over to Luz. " Luz, you're living your dream. You're becoming a witch. But this celebrity is as close as I'll ever get to my dream. It all went to my head, and I hurt you. I'm sorry. "
Luz smiled hearing his apology and owning up to his mistakes. " Hey... " She puts a hand on King's shoulder making his tail wag happily. " being with you is one of my few favorite parts of this dream. " The box shrunk again reminding them of the situation they were in and they had to figure something out and fast.
" I have a plan. But we need to work together this time. " He looked down at the manuscript and into the human girls eyes. "Just tell me what to do. "
Back at the forest, Eda, Evan and Lilith were now face to face with the one who setted them up which turned out to be the very same merchant that gave them each a map to the 'supposed legendary flower.
"I know you must be confused. The Bloom of Eternal Youth, dead? " He crawled down from the statue. " What if I told you the Bloom never existed at all! And now that I have led you to my nest... " The two older woman exchanged a look with Evan who rolled his eye as they continued listening to the mammal demon who tried to act scary but was doing a terrible job at it. " I'll suck all the life out of you to satisfy my unending hunger! "
" He scammed us. Can you believe he scammed us? "Lilith questioned.
"I thought there was a 50/50 chance going in. " Eda replied as Evan chimed in. " Not really. Everything he was doing was a dead giveaway. I mean seriously, who has multiple copies of the same map and hands them out to random people like that? "
" Yeah that's true. " Eda admitted patting her son on the head. " But hard not to admire the tenacity though. "
" Good entrance, but that outfit? Ha! " Lilith laughed as Eda pointed to something else. " Look at his little shoes! " She started to laugh and Lilith joined in, while the merchant covered his said shoes.
" Aw, look how that big scarwy monster is embarrassed! " He said in a mocking tone making both his relatives laugh
" W-Well, maybe you've never been led into a lethal trap before, but the response should be, "Aa! No! Spare us!" "
Eda and Lilith share a look while Evan burstted into laughter slapping his right knee. " This, this guy thinks he scary? Ohoho, wow...That's rich. " he exclaimed wiping a tear away.
" Stop mocking me! "
" Okay, sure... " Eda said as she steps onto the stone. " Spare us. " She said walking up to him with Lilith right beside her who summoned her staff.
" Woe to us whose fates are sealed. "
" Tha-That's right, witches and brat! Cower! Cower? " He stuttered and gulped nervously knowing full well what was going to happen. But before they could do anything, Evan cleared his throat grabbing their attention.
" I know what were going to do, but mind if I add in my own personal touch? "
" You know what, that's fine. Go ahead. " Eda said grabbing Lilith's hand to move out of her sons way. With them out of the way, Evan made his usual black spell circle and upon doing so dozens of black tendrils which quickly started to entangle the mammalian demon who began to scream in fear before he was brought up to Evan's face.
" Wh-What are you doing!? "
His only response from Evan was grin and then from the side lines Eda and her sister watched as he started his torture not bothered by the screams or what sounded like a running chainsaw, only a for a moment Lilith flinched at what she was witnessing.
" He's going to actually kill right? " Lilith asked whispering over to her little sisters ear. " Nah, it's fine. " Eda replied and was very pleased to see boy didn't take crap from nobody just like her and Phil.
Back at the covention hall, where Piniet is stacking the cubed authors into a tower with one of the guards. Upon putting another cube, the tower falls.
" Aw, dang. "
" Hey Piniet! We're done! " King called out grabbing his attention and opened the dressing room door where the box was now even smaller, where King has to be under Luz's legs, which are bent in order to fit.
" Fassster than I expected! " The reptilian commented in surprise. " That's the miracle of teamwork! " King said hoping he'd buy into it which he did. A hole opens in the top of the box. Luz holds up her manuscript. Piniet takes it and flips through part of it. The box shrinks slightly again.
This is much more gussshy than your lassst book. " The reptilian noted.
" Skip to the finale, because it is quite a payoff. " King said making his publisher roll his eyes. He keeps reading and both of them were prepared to move while Piniet gets to the last page.
" What isss thisss all about? " He flips it around to reveal a light glyph drawn on the last page very confused by what was going on.
" Light spell! " Luz cried out as she reached through the hole to touch the glyph. The manuscript catches fire and turns into a blinding ball of light that rapidly disappears obscuring the reptilians vision as he stumbles around.
" Ugh, I just realized I should've said enlightening. "Skip to the finale, you'll find it enlightening." King! The contract! " Luz reminded him of what to do next after spotting it hanging out of Piniet's pocket.
" Pretentious scarf, go! " Using the scarf as a lasso King pulls Piniet toward them. Luz grabs the contract and rips it in half with her teeth. Doing so made the box explode sending Piniet flying across the floor.
" I made you a star, and this is how you repay me!?
" No, this is! " King replied back as he opened up his former publisher's brief case. The cubed authors all jump out and attack Piniet, screaming. Luz runs past, carrying King. They run into the two reptilian guards at the door. While Piniet frees himself of the authors.
" You are making this harder than it needs to be! And believe me, I am being very patient! " He said before stepping on a cubed author stomping down on it. " But let's... " He pulls a pen from his jacket, poping the cap off and presses a button. The nib of the pen extends into a large two headed battle axe, which he raises above his head. " ...cut to the finish. "
The door suddenly bursts open, sending the guards flying making everyone look to see who had just barged in. Surprisingly it turned out to be Tiny Nose herself.
" King! I am your biggest fan! " She runs over a guard leaving a trail of dust and stands between him and Piniet. " And I fought my way back here for you...to read my story? " She asked holding her manucript out for the canine to read.
" I'm sorry, my lawyer advised me not to look at unsolicited work. "
" But... but... eep! " She flinches upon Piniet snatching it out of her hands in annoyance. " Ugh! If I read thisss, will you go? Ssso I can annihilate them in peace? " He asked pointing his weapon over to King and Luz.
She anwsered. " Of course! "
Piniet tossed his battle axe aside, adjusted his glasses, and slowly reads what she had written. Luz and King look at each other, then one of the guards. The guard shrugs. He finishes and he looked on the verge of crying.
" Oh, it's beautiful! " He kneels down to Tiny Nose putting his arm around her. " You, you must let me publish this! I can make you a star! "
" Really!? "
" Wait a minute. What about King? " The canine asked as Piniet got annoyed and took off King's jacket. " You're old newsss. Sssshe on the other hand isss the future! " He drapes the jacket and sunglasses over to her while the at the same time the cubed authors all made their get away finally escaping from their evil publisher.
" Hey! "
" King! " Luz grabs him before he could possibly make things worse. " We're good then?
Piniet only waves them away. " Yes, quite. "
[Luz picks King up and backs out of quickly getting the hell out of there just wanting to that crazy night to end.
Back at the forest the merchant was slammed into the ground, beaten to a pulp and was all of his hair was shaved off.
" Well, Evie job on wrecking this chump. " Eda said patting her sons head again. " But I guess the Bloom of Eternal Youth isn't real. "
" Well, if it makes any difference, I don't consider you to be a tired old bitty. " Lilith said.
" Really? "
" If you were, you'd be much easier to catch. "
" Oh great, you're gonna cart me and Evan away to the coven now, are you? " Eda asked in annoyance.
" Not now. Because I want to give you a chance to join on your own! " Lilith said in a honest tone. " Join me in the Emperor's Coven, Edalyn. " She holds out her hand." He could even heal your curse, We can find Phil...We could even be a family again. "
" The hell we are! " Evan's slapped her aunt's hand away not surprising Lilith one bit cause she knows how her nephew felt about her. " We don't anything to do that guy, nor you...Not after what you did Aunt Hilda. " Hearing this hurt Lilith knowing full well what he was talking about.
" I... " She looked very hesitant to speak but still managed to anyways. " I had no choice Evan... "
" Bullshit! " Evan snapped poking a finger at her. " There's always a choice, you choose that bastard over your best friend and your family, people that actually cared and loved you! "
" Evan... " Eda tried to calm him down. It didn't work and snapped his head over to her." Why are you defending her!? How can you even still talk to her like everything's okay!? It's not! "
" Evan please just listen to me... " Lilith was begging for her nephew to let her explain but he was to consumed by anger to reason with.
" No! You listen! " Evan continued directing his finger back at her. " You lost the right to call us family...and did you ever think what would've happened as an end result? Did you ever stop and think about how much you hurt Wilhelm? "
" Don't you dare bring him into this! " Lilith finally snapped back cause bringing him up was like drawing the last staw, but Evan didn't back down.
" Do you know much he cried because of you!? Or how about Saul!? You ever think about him!? " She was going to reply back however she didn't. She couldn't find or think of anything to counter back, right now there were just so many mixed feelings going on.
Evan lowered down his finger giving her a sad look, a look of remorse.
" If you think for a moment...I take pleasure in disowning you...Your wrong...You broke all our hearts... " With those words said he started walking off making Eda sigh as she watched him go and looked over to her sister.
" He's right you know sis. " Eda said. " I love you, but I don't forgive you for what you did to her either...Especially with how much Wilhelm had to go through... " Hearing his name again made Lilith flinch as Eda looked up at the sky. " But, knowing Hilda, she wouldn't blame you for what happened either... " For a moment they stood in silence as a gust of wind blew in their direction.
" Look, I appreciate what your trying to offer, but I'll heal the curse on my own terms. Same with Phil...I don't want to owe him anything. "
For a moment Lilith hesitated to speak. " H-Have you seen...Wilhelm? "
" Evan has... " Eda anwsered. " He's doing alright. But you can already guess how he feels about you...Well, I better get going. Catch you later sis. "
Lilith smiled back replying. " Not if I catch you first. " Eda returned her own smile and brought out her staff sitting down and flew off to catch up to her son. " I'll see you around. "
Lilith only sighed now that she was left alone even though the merchant was still there. " You're welcome for the chance to bond. " The merchant said only for Lilith to glare at him and shot him with a fire spell making the demon yell out in pain.
After a bit of flying, both mother and son had finally returned to the Owl House. Inside both Luz and King were fast asleep snoring away before they woke upon hearing the door open.
Evan sighed in content upon entering. " Home sweet home. " He headed over to the loveseat.
" You and me both. " Eda agreed dropping her staff and cracked her back making it pop. " That was a rough couple days. "
" Yeah, I'll say. " Luz said as her teacher sat down on the couch right between her and King.
" Ah. Well, nothing a bit of apple blood and a good book can't mend. "
Both of them started to get nervous. " Books? "
" Nope, I don't know nothing about that. " King spoke up.
" We hate books. Wow, look at the time! " Luz exclaimed pointing to an imaginary watch.
" What's a book? Good night! " King cried out.
Luz does a back-handspring out of the room while King just runs away. Both Eda and Evan watch them go. They exchange a look with one another and shrug their shoulders, both were confused by what was going on. Eda then notices Ruler's Reach on the coffee table.
" Huh? What the- "
" Girl, you do not want to know. " The typewriter said.
" Yeah, I'm with it on this one. " Evan agreed before yawning stretching out his arms. " I'm gonna hit the shower and then the hay. "
Minutes later with a hot shower and a quick snack Evan was now in his room. The one eyed warlock sighed as he laid down on his bed, removing his eyepatch putting it on a small hook on the wall. After doing that he reached under his pillow and pulled out a bag of assorted gummies. Before he could dig in, he heard a knock on the door. He looked over to see it was Luz.
" Hey... "
" Hey... " Evan greeted back and watched as she sat down on the floor up against the mattress. For a while there was silence until Evan spoke up. " Want one? " He held out the open bag for her to reach into. She looked to see what was inside and grabbed a piece.
" Thanks... " Chewing it slowly she processed on the right words that needed to be said. " Look...I'm sorry about... "
" You can let that go..." Evan said. " Nobody's proud of that- "
" Just hear me out for a second... " Luz said and Evan hushed up so she could speak.
" I had no right to do what I did, even if it was impress Willow and Gus...I think, the reason I was insisted on going was because, back home I didn't have a lot of friends and... "
" You wanted to show them that you were cool enough to hang out with? " Evan questioned already understanding where she was going with this.
" Yeah...But, that was stupid. " Luz said shaking her head. I already know that they don't care about that and I shouldn't have done it. Especially to something you consider family and not listening to you. "
" Okay. "
" I know you're only act the way you do because you care, and was also worried about my safety. And I appreciate that, very much. " She said with every word full of honesty which was something Evan very much appreciated to. Even though Luz tends to be a bit rambunctious here and there, but she meant well not having ill intentions.
" Well, I'm glad to hear that. " Evan admitted.
" Hey, I got a question. "
" Sure. " With a reply Luz brings out a small manucript that was stabled together." I wrote this. "
" What is it? "
" Just something I made earlier today to help me cope with what happened yesterday. "
" Do I wanna know what happened? "
" Eh...No, I just want to move on from that. " Luz anwsered back nervously before shaking it off and passed it over to Evan.
" Luzura's...Redemption? " Evan read the title and passed it over to her. " Does everything you like mostly have to do that made up witch? "
" I know you might not be into Azura like I am, but could you possibly just bear a few minutes to listen to what I wrote? "
" I'm gonna need something for this... " He said before making a magic circle it was some sort of beverage called Punching Tower Lemonblood. It was basically the isle's version of a bottled lemonade. He popped the cap off. " Alright go ahead. Read on whatever abomination you created. " He commented taking a swig of his drink, but Luz knew he was only joking around and started reading.
" In another world lied the Sky Islands, a wonderous place filled with magic. Found in every market place, found in every town, magic was everything there. Including the mages that lived there.
One in particular mage, Luzura was always considered different from the rest of her peers. Her family was understanding but, never could really understand how she really felt in the inside.
As she grew older, Luzura set out to find a calling. One day, during her travels, Luzura crossed paths with a brave wandering nomad named Devan. " Evan did his best to hold back on the cheesy nickname she gave him in the story but not loud enough to disrupt her.
" The two of them quickly became friends and the two them shared many harrowing adventures with one another. The two had become close, it was almost like nothing could break them apart.
However, during one of their adventure's Luzura made a mistake that nearly cost a friend close to Devan. The same mistake almost costed them the bond they had with one another. That act couldn't be repaired to the way it was before. However due to Luzura's rightous spirit and value of the duo together is not worth abandoning. there is only thing she can do...But she didn't know how...What would Luz...I mean Luzura do to come to terms with her best friend? Someone who sees her not like everyone else, but just herself... "
Evan grew a solemn expression noticing the way she stuttered. He really couldn't help but admire her trying to help restore their trust. Not to very many people had the guts to admit they were sorry and own up to their mistakes, because they either had to much pride in themselves to see it, or didn't know how to. But putting in an effort to try, sometimes, it did count as something.
Moving his legs sideways he sat up he did something that surprised Luz. He added more content to the story. " While most don't consider it, the most powerful magic is both time and patience. Though Luzura rarely shows it and it can difficult for her. But, as time passes, Devan couldn't stand the thought of leaving her. Much like herself, he was different to. There were some choices in his life he wished that were better. He's always pondered long and hard, wondering what else life could've had in store for him. Deep down, even though he was furious at her reckless action, it was one of the things he liked about her. As the two of them continued to fight their way through the forces of evil, Devan learned that Luzura's recklessness was her her best chance to defeat the darkness, and Luzura learned Devan's patience was a key to victory. Eventually after much struggle, they defeated and drove away the darkness. In the end, the two of them became much closer, their bond was deepened and together, they continued on their journey to find adventure so that there legends would forever leave there mark. "
Once Evan finished the story they both looked to one another and smiled before embracing one another tightly both of them glad that they could finally move on from what happened.
After a while they broke apart. " So what do you want do? " Luz asked making Evan put his hand underneath his chin going into deep thought. He then snapped his fingers gaining an idea.
" I think I got something. "
In the night sky we could now see Luz and Evan flying in the sky over the forest on the owl lady' staff. Figuring eventually she was going to fly on Owlbert again later on, the devil eye was instructing her on how to properly fly. She up up front while he was right behind her to give instruction.
" How am I doing? " Luz asked.
" Not to bad, but ease up on the speed. "
" What do you suggest? "
" Give Owlbert a light tap... " Luz followed his instruction and did so making the staff slow down a bit. " Sometimes making different forms of communication can help out a lot. You understand? "
" Yeah, it does. This is nice actually, I really wished we had these instead of cars. " Evan laughed a bit seeing how much she was enjoying it. She then looked over her shoulder for a moment and returned her focus to in front of her. " Evan? Do you ever think we'll get our own staffs? "
" Not now, but that's why we'll learn as much so that way we'll be ready when the time comes. "
" So basically prepare for what'll happen. "
" Exactly. " He then smirked gaining an idea. "Alright, lets go a bit faster now. Tap him again, only a little harder. "
" You got it! " She tapped the owl palisman and upon doing so, the staff went more faster making them both cheer, having a blast and a really good time.

Well, hope you all enjoyed this new chapter, sorry for the hold up, been playing the Mass Effect trilogy legendary edition and I gotta say it feels good to travel across the universe again, mainly cause I own the original trilogy for the 360. Hard to believe now that system is just a relic now adays by some.
Anyways, I got a question for you all, and this has been bothering me for a while now.
There's four stories I've been wanting to do, but primarily one of them would set up right after my Kipo story was done.
1. I dive back into Kill La Kill for one last time with another Oc Ultra titled. Ultraman Aroul.
2. I give a shot at Evangelion that also has an Oc ulra called. Ultraman Luster
3.. I finally give into your desires and create my own Amphibia story titled, The Unexpected Journey
Reason for the first two was because they were other potential candidates for my Assassination Classroom crossover. As you all saw, the end result was Kiba. I will say this though, I did a lot of research and making these guys was a lot of fun. That and also, I seem more in tune with them then I ever did with Kamen Rider. It's sad, but it's true.
I want to hear all of your honest opinions to and If you'd like, the next updates of this story or whatever I update, do you all want a basic brief idea of what I've got in mind? Or possible previews? Cause I'll do it. Heck, anyone want to try their luck with any of the three? Just give me your responses.

Eh, there's always been a lingering idea for a kamen rider loud house crossover, but my heart was never fully in it. Heck, the only thing that'd come into mind would probably hands down be Double.
