Chapter 629.
"Camped 2."
(Camp Mastodon.)
July 21, and Breakfast time is done for the ones who plan on something big, and those folks are the Louds and the Rosato's. Lincoln, Jordan, Luna, Ryan, Leni, Lori, Luan, Lynn Jr, Lucy, Lola, Lana, Lisa, Lily, Michelle, Rita, Lynn Sr, Rick and Jesse. Even the eagles, Butterfree and Bernardo are ready to join them.
(Recall: Harrier and Nora are not there. They're being watched over by Gretchen and Hope back home.)
They all gather around the picnic bench and towards Lincoln who has the map. "Alright guys, so this is the official long lost treasure map of Captian Kit, now before we go into anything else further, do we have everything we need?"
Rick gives him a thumbs up. "We got the gear from Mister Rinsler and all packed into the FutureTech expansion bag, and this is also just in case we find the treasure and we need a bag to keep it safe in."
"Now that is very smart thinking" said Lisa, but she's still curious. 'They still refuse to allow me in researching their own tech. That bag of infinite space is incredible.'
Jordan then looks to the map. "Alrighty then, the map here is marked the start as an X, and the start is here at Camp. We're already starting this quest."
"Yeah, but where the heck do we go from here?" asked Lola. "What else does it say?"
Lincoln reads the words on the map. "Begin you're journey with a starting clue, let this animal be a guide to you." He then looks to the others. "Well, we have eagles and Bernardo, you think that counts?"
Lisa looks closely. "I do not think so. Perhaps the map is referring to…. Lana, don't!" They see Lana is about to grab the hornets' nest, and then Rita goes over and grabs her. "Now, as I am saying, this map may mean that we should seek out an animal that has been living around the camp."
But Luan sees something else. "Guys, over here!" They all follow her and they see the carved mark on the tree, and it's in the shape of an alligator holding a compass. "The clue is not an actual animal, it's a pun. The animal is a Navi-Gator!" She then chuckles. "Get it?"
"Guys, there's another one here!" Luna goes to the rock and it has the same thing. They hear a roar and see Bernardo go towards a tree branch with the marker, this is the same tree he slept in yesterday.
Trent then goes to them. "Hey guys, looking for that marker? There's tons of them that lead into the woods." He then goes back to Simon as they're both gonna play volleyball.
"Thanks, Trent!" said Lincoln. "Alright everyone, let's go! If we follow the trail, we find the treasure." They all cheer and make their way into the woods.
Lynn Sr sheds a tear at what they're doing. 'It's like we're part of the fun treasure hunting activities, only we're one big family! Also, family friends.'
(Somewhere in the forest.)
They all continue to follow the trail, and then they see eagles land onto a fallen tree that has the same marker, but the tree has fallen over and is blocking the path. "Dang it! Now what do we do?" asked Leni. "There doesn't seem to be anyway around it."
"I say we go over it" said Lynn Jr. "Or we could climb it! Like him!" They see Bernardo goes over the fallen tree and is waiting for them on the other side.
"Chances we might face something hiding within the tree, like ants" said Jesse. Then Lily waves her arms around, and she's being carried by Michelle.
Michelle notices this. "Guys, I think Lily has an idea." They all look to Lily and she points to her yellow toy shovel and then to the bottom of the fallen tree. "Oh, we should dig underneath!"
"And thank you Mr. Rinsler!" Rick then pulls out some shovels from the bag and he tosses them to the others and they all begin to dig their way underneath, they make it to the other side and see that they're a bit dusty.
"Well, that was kinda messy." Lori dusts off the dirt and then she grabs the squirrel in her hair and throws him away. "Alright so now what?"
Lincoln is confused by the map. "This is kinda weird. The next clue says, Buttes will lead you to its mark, and then head into the dark." He then looks to the others. "That does not sound like a pun." Lynn Jr is about to say something. "I don't think it means, butts sis."
"If I may." Lisa is handed the map and she reads it. "Not the behind quarters, Buttes is the term for a geographical formation of an isolated hill with steep sides, and that over there is a Butte." They spot the rock formation and it is big.
"Dang it! How the heck do we get over that thing?" asked Lynn Sr.
(Somewhere at the Butte.)
The group are now scaling the side of the Butte, and they use the ropes and grappling hooks from Rick's bag and they all slowly climb up. No one is acting as dead weight and they even look around the sight of the forest.
"We're almost there everyone!" Rick is advancing farther, and so Lynn Sr tries to go ahead, but he can't keep up. They soon make it to the top and they all take a moment to catch their breath and then look around the forest around the Butte.
Lynn Sr then calls out, and with Rick Rosato. "Long live Camp Mastodon!" The eagles fly and squawk at the echo as well.
They all go towards Ryan who is given the map. "Alright guys, so we made it to the Butte, which was the first part of the clue, and now it says head into the Dark."
Lucy sees something. "Guys, head. Dark." They all see what she sees, and it turns out, there is a skull-shaped cave there and the lightning strikes in the distance making is scary. Lucy on the other hand smiles, and she nudges Luan. "Get it? Because it's the shape of a skull, I like this quest."
"This isn't funny to me" said Luan. They all walk into the cave.
"Alright, so nobody touch anything in here" said Rita. "That means you, Lana." Lana is about to touch a snoozing bat and she stops and then Butterfree nudges her to follow the others.
Luna has a lantern, and then Lori uses the matches and they finally have light, and Jesse Rosato has one and same with Ryan, Lincoln and Lucy. "This gives me good memories with the Morticians Club. But better."
Lynn Sr is also given a lantern, but he turns around and gets startled when he sees the remains of someone. "Wait what? Captain Kit?"
They see, that it is the captain who buried his treasure. "Dang, this guy has seen better days" said Michelle.
"A shame he wasn't buried properly, but there has to be a reason why he's surfaced, and his hat is missing" said Lucy. "Also, why is he wearing that around his neck?"
Leni goes over. "Now those are totes pretty. I wonder if I can…" She then grabs the necklace, and but she nearly trips and her spare gold glasses falls off her head and they land onto the head of the skeleton. Leni then has her usual white glasses back on. "Glad I kept these safe."
Leni is about to take the glasses, but the skull glows purple. "Umm, is this normal in caves?" The throne of the skeleton moves and they see a passage below. "Huh, never mind. So, was that Indiana Jones thing?"
Ryan then ties his lantern to a rope and he lowers it down and soon they see the bottom. "Alright, let's go down folks." They all use the single rope that is tied tight and they make their way to the bottom, and soon they see that they're in a deeper part of the cave.
"Hey guys, check this out!" Lynn Jr then yells out. "Number one star!" The voice echoes all around. "Nailed it, this cave is fully of wonders to me, I mean we just did multiple exercise routines!"
Jordan then looks to the map. "Alright so the map now says: listen closely and you shall hear, this sea song ringing in your ear."
Then Lola points to something. "Maybe we have to do something with that weird looking guitar." They spot the stringed-instrument. Seeing this makes Luna smile and she grabs it.
She then sees something on the instrument. "Dudes, this is Captain Kit's and something tells me that this might be the key to the next thing we gotta find." She's about to play something, but then she stops. "Hey, let me see that map."
Jordan hands Luna the map and she reads it and smiles. "Alright, I get it now." She then tunes the instrument and she begins to sing a sea shanty, and as she does one last jam on the instrument with her high pitch voice, the cave shakes and the wall opens.
"Whoa!" They all see the treasure. "This… This is it!" said Lynn Sr. "We found the treasure!" They all go over and celebrate for the finding of the long lost….
"Wait!" They all stop in place and they look to Rick. He then picks up the gold. "Guys, this is not gold."
Lola is confused, and so she grabs one and she takes a small bite and she sees the gold turns into bits of some kind of stone. "He's not wrong. This gold is fake! What the heck?!" She then throws the gold and it turns into small bits as it hits Lynn Jr.
Lynn Sr looks to the gold. "What? Are you sure? But, this is so shiny." He then weeps at this.
"Then where the heck is the real gold and why make this fake gold?" asked Luan.
"I don't know, but nobody touch anything" said Rita. "Chances this whole place might be some big trap." They fail to notice that Lily grabs a red gem stone and she giggles looking to it, but then the cave shakes and she hides it.
"Well, mom called it" said Lynn Jr. "Also, we should run!" They all make a run for the entrance, but the main doorway is blocked by rocks, and they see another pathway and they go through.
The shaking is gone and they look around. "Well, we're literally out of danger. But where the heck are we now?" asked Lori. She uses the lantern and they look around, and then she sees her phone. "Well, we got no service in here."
"We should keep going, we might find a way out" said Jordan. They all make their way through the dark cave, but as they venture further, they all hear something.
"What the heck was that?" Lincoln uses the lantern and he looks around and they're all startled to see an angry mother Wolverine, and her babies. "Oh, I don't think she wants us to pass through, we're in her turf."
Then Bernardo and the Eagles go over and they calm down the mother Wolverine and then ask her something, and then she nods and points them to the tunnel up ahead, and then Patriot hands the mother Wolverine a large sandwich and she retreats back to safety with her younglings.
They all follow the eagles and the Black Panther and are impressed at what they did. "Dang! Nice one guys" said Luna. "Asking directions and giving them something in return, sounds like something we should normally do on road trips."
Lynn Sr sighs. "Yeah, I get it. Sometimes maps and GPS doesn't work." They all make their way through the darkened tunnel.
(Later.)
They continue their way down the tunnel, and then Lori stops. "Guys, dead end." They see the large wall, and then Lynn Sr cries.
"Oh dang it! This is hopeless, we're lost and we got no way to leave! This is our new home now…"
Rick then slaps him in the face. "Lynnard, you're acting up again. Pull yourself together and… Captain Kit's hat?" they all see the hat sitting on a stalagmite. "Huh, we found his hat."
"But why would he leave this here?" Luan takes the hat and she tries it on, but then she looks to the stalagmite and so she gives it a push and it moves aside like a lever. "Hey, I think I found…" The ground beneath them cracks. "A way out?" The floor then breaks and they all fall, the eagles and Butterfree fly in and follow them.
They all seem scared as they pass through this tunnel of an epic slide, though Lynn Sr is screaming from this and then Lori and Leni pull out their phones and they all smile as they all take a selfie. "We're literally posting these later!" cheered Lori.
They are sent over some stalagmites and land onto the ground up ahead. "Well, I think I broke my butt and added another crack" said Lynn Jr, they all get up and look around.
"Okay, where the heck are we now?" asked Michelle, she hugs Lily close to her. "Also, why does Lily feel a little bit heavier than before?"
"Guys, look at this!" They all go over to Lincoln and they see the weird symbol on the rock and next to the symbol is a slot of the same shape. "This looks like the same one on the map!"
Leni then realizes. "Wait!" She then shows them the necklace. "This must be some kind of key, thank you skeleton of Captain Kit!"
"We have a serious issue though." Lisa points out to something. "It looks as if we are missing another piece to the key and it seems to be in the form of a gem stone. Has anyone seen one from the treasure room?"
"No, we haven't" said Lola. "All we saw was some useless, worthless, stupid gold that would never fit my crown or my bill." But then Lily shows them something she has inside of her shirt.
"Huh, well that explains the extra weight" said Michelle. She lets Lily go to Leni, and so Leni hands Lily the necklace and the toddler assembles them together and then she places it onto the slot, with a boost help from Ryan.
The wall then shakes and they see that it's a large doorway, and they can see daylight, and also the treasure. Leni then asks. "So, can we celebrate now? Is this the legit treasure of Captain Kit?"
Lisa goes over and she examines them and then Rick goes over and does the same. Lola grabs a gold coin and she checks on it. "Oh yeah! This is it, baby! This is the real deal!"
They all cheer and race over to the treasure. "We're gonna save Camp Mastodon!" but then he realizes. "Oh wait, we already saved it. This will help keep the Camp running longer!"
They all begin to stock up on the gold, and then Rick loads as many as the bag can haul, and it still feels light. Lisa also assists. "That bag and its creation and laws of physics is the biggest head scratcher for me." She then fits the whole crown in there. "Very strange."
Lincoln then finds a gold necklace with some red gems and she puts it around Jordan, and this makes her giggle and she gives him a kiss. Luna sees a gold ring, and it has a diamond on it with a musical note symbol and she has an idea, and so she keeps it in her pocket. 'One day, when the time comes. This one is when I ask the big question to my babe.'
Lynn Sr is busy doing a victory dance and cheering that they found the actual treasure, but then he hits the button on the rock. "Oh no." The whole cave shakes again. "That couldn't be anything serious, right?"
They see the wall of the cave moving at them. Luna looks to Lynn Sr. "You had to say that, huh?" she then pulls Lincoln and Jordan close to her.
"Why are the walls constantly moving?!" Lori then grabs her bag. "We need to find a way out of here!" They look around and all they see is a cliff. The eagles fly around and they see something coming and go towards the boat.
Michelle and Bernardo look down from the cliff, and see the river below. "There is no way we can even stick the landing in that water, and we don't even know how deep it is!"
The wall then gets closer, and then Rick has an idea. "Emergency escape!" He then pulls a grappling hook and he attaches it to the cliff and it clamps down hard, and the rope drops down. "Everyone, we're going down!" He then grabs the rope and he heads down.
The others also do the same, and Lynn Sr sees this. 'Seriously! Why the heck do I recall him? Did we meet long ago in camp?!' He follows the others and they manage to evade the moving wall.
The rope then begins to give in. "Guys, the gold in your bags are weighing us down!" said Lucy. "Wait, Mr. Rosato, open your bag!"
"Good thinking!" Rick opens his bag and they toss they're bags of gold into the bag he has and thus it remains light. "Good, now we can…" they hear a bot horn and look down.
They spot this fishing boat and the eagles circle around it, and then someone comes out, and is none other than the father of Lynnard and the grandfather of the loud kids, Leonard Loud. "Hang on there, my minnows and everyone else! Jump!"
They all jump and they land into the double crane fishing nets. "I am so glad I made these upgrades!" He then lowers them onto the boat. "Glad you're all doing fine, also good to meet some of ya. The name is Leonard Loud, fisherman from the Bearing Sea, and that ride was not a good one."
They all look to the elderly man. "Wait, how the heck did you get here so fast?"
"Well, I picked up the Morse code from Lynnie over here, and I thought it was a mistake from my telegraph. It said, Lard, Camp Mustard and Moat. But then I got the actual transmission and it says Gramps, Camp Mastodon is closing."
Lynn Sr then hugs his dad. "I remember now, I was terrible at Morse code!" But then he realizes. "Wait, I only sent you one Morse code."
Lisa smirks. "That would be me, father. I knew you might make something that would not make sense and so when you left my room, I sent a different code for Gramps to understand. You are welcome."
"We found what we needed." Rick opens the bag and pouring out are their bags with gold and the rest of the gold. Rick and the others took it all, all of it!
This surprises Leonard Loud. "Holy fish bait over the Baltic Sea! And I went there once, this is amazing. The actual treasure of Camp Kit!" Then he looks to the man. "Wait, Richard Rosato… Oh, wow. This is unbelievable and awkward, I recall that you and you're old man were the best campers around."
Rick chuckles. "Thanks sir, but we can get to more talk later. We have to show this to Mr. Rinsler."
"All on it!" Leonard gets to the bridge and he sets his boat to full speed and they head back to Camp Mastodon, to show everyone that the Louds and Rosato's have found the long lost treasure of Captain Kit.
Lynn Sr is now even more confused. 'Wait, my dad knew him too?! How does he recall him? Did we meet at Camp Mastodon long ago?'

A/N: They found the lost treasure of Captain Kit and they'll sort out what to do with the treasure soon, and also the other good news about the camp, and then we'll dive deeper on Rick Rosato and Lynnard Loud from their childhood years. Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
