Shinji Ikari, after getting tired of fighting against his father in his countless lives, finally decided to help him with his scenario - under only one, but an unnegotiable condition.

No matter how many times someone's told or shown something that is not what they had intended to happen to another, they seem to refuse to admit that they're at fault, which makes things difficult for those affected. This is something Yui seems aware of, but refuses to acknowledge, even when doing so would aid in making things easier to resolve. But people can only run so far.

When Shinji Ikari rides the train from Nagano to Tokyo-3, he is made the epicenter of a reality altering event. With the reality he had occupied now changed forever, he must conceive of a future that will accomodate diametrically opposed ethos. A man who has never known love is now responsible for the fate of the very humans he's been kept separate from, for good or ill.
